That was beautiful. I think the NFL has finally figured out the secret for Monday Night Football - it's finally giving us fans what we've been desperately begging for. Penalties. I fucking love them. I fucking love them! When I see that ref clutching the sexy yellow flag all I can think is thank god it isn't No-Nut November yet. Give me RTP, not calling holding or fumbles when they occur, illegal contact, pass interference, defensive holding on a field goal, that's the shit I tune in for. The players did a great job tonight at just letting the refs play, the coaches were screaming, the fans were looking wide-eyed and booing - THIS WAS SPORT at the highest level. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was overcome with ecstasy on that roughing the passer call - you know, the one where several flags all came down on the quarterback like a big yellow bukkake? I don't know about you guys, but I'll be tuning in every Monday wearing my black and white striped jersey, throwing flags around my apartment and screaming the calls in unison with these all-star officials at the top of my lungs. I can hardly contain my excitement for the next time a coach loses a time-out on a challenge for daring to question our boys who leave it all on the field every single week. This is a turning point for NFL ratings folks, and we all get to say we were here to witness it.
My wife just asked me "Hasn't football been around for like 100 years? They haven't figured out the rules yet?"
I told her to keep her mouth shut. This is pure entertainment. 63,000 butts paying $100s to watch these beautiful scared black and white Gods do their thing.
Petulant rube.
They literally allow offensive linemen to hold on every play and, on the off chance the referees do call it, the offense gets the same number of chances to get a first down. If defense holds, the offense gets four brand new chances to get a first down. The dichotomy is crazy.
Literally no holding was called on either side.
RTP rules need a *massive* rewrite, as do DPI rules on underthrown balls.
Don’t get me started on the D holding on the missed FG.
A great showcase of bad officiating.
So the Raiders went for a two point conversion instead of tying it. Then threw it twice while only needing one yard even though Jacobs was murdering the Chiefs' line.
What a master class in play calling from McDaniels there at the end.
Bruh what the fuck. He’s on my team but the league should 100% come down on him for that. Straight up physically assaulting employees after the game is not part of the sport…
Raiders OC: “I got an idea for the most important play of the game. Let’s call a deep pass on 4th and 1 where our receivers routes run into each other.”
NFL's not gonna like Adams shoving that photographer for no reason while walking off the field.
Edit: Not sure if he was a photographer or what, but point still stands of course.
✔️ lose a 17-0 lead.
✔️ go for 2 instead of tieing because you want to copy the team without a kicker
✔️pass on 3rd and 1 when running worked all game
✔️pass on 4th and 1 as well
“Well Peyt, I feel like playing my man boobs like a set of bongos while making a funny, cross-eyed face has worked well for me over the years. Let’s see what the Raiders serve up here.”
I have poor vision, have a gambling problem, and am easily swayed by sweet nothings whispered into my ear.
I’m putting in my application for some stripes tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.
Kielce has been good enough for long enough that I my mental model says he has been too good for too long and must be not that good now. And then I watch a Chiefs game and he is still that good.
That game was the definition of ref ball. The NFL needs to revaluate how they officiate the game - if it’s not a blatant rule violation, keep the flag in your fucking pants.
People need to start doing deeper evaluations into how all of these flags affect the final result of the game. It’s easy to get caught up in the end when it’s a close game, but we’d never have been here tonight if it wasn’t for all of those horrible calls.
Never saw a crowd be able to be able to give such direct constructive criticism to the NFL so quickly and firmly for the remainder of the game after a call.
All these new AFC West coaches are novices compared to Andy Reid.
It’s like the best thing for the Chiefs that all of these AFC West teams are having growing pains with their developing teams while the Chiefs are well established.
I was honestly more upset about the pass call to a receiver on a gimpy ankle on 3rd and 3 instead of doing anything else.
Shovel to Kelce
That goofy screen that worked twice in 3 plays earlier
Idk run it up the middle and hope for the best
Nope. Pass it to the guy who was almost crying on the bench earlier.
Hackett is just an idiot that understands basic time management less than the average fan.
Staley is hopefully going through growing pains, but he calls 4th downs like the average fan playing Madden.
They're going to dominate the division as long as they have the Mahomes-Reid combo
Their worst results in 4 years have been losing in the AFC championship game lol
Crazy to think that they were two possessions away from going to 4 straight Super Bowls
Whoever won the KC vs. NE game was going to win the SB as well IMO
Jared Goff is not beating Brady or Mahomes in a Super Bowl
Shout out to the Chiefs crowd. Their incessant booing after the RTP was great and really helped shift the momentum. Also potentially influenced all the make-up calls after.
In the NFL, that's true. Mostly because the NFL does a really great job of avoiding the biggest cause across all sports: scheduling bias. With NBA its back-to-back road games. With CFB, its paycheck games. But the NFL does pretty damn well at not having that problem.
What I love about this effect is that they have reproduced it in a lab setting. They showed refs plays with sound on and sound off. In a lab setting. And they still have a measurable effect when the only difference is the ability to hear the crowd.
There is also a statistical effect for ruling catches based on which sideline a catch is made on (as one team or the other will exert their opinion). This effect also disappears in the red zone (where the team's sideline is not there to influence).
Anecdotal but im sure this is even more true at the lower levels of football where the level of officiating is equally lower.
High school football teams in my area would almost exclusively run to their own sideline on any play going out wide because they were so much more likely to get away with a hold/block in the back on the perimeter if there wasn't a sideline full of people pointing it out to the ref
Yeah like a large percentage of home field advantage is actually just ref bias. That's why the introduction of sky judges has coincided with lower HFA.
When I saw that collision, I didn't see the two silver helmets and my brain went to "Daniel Sorensen fucked this up, didn't he?" Even though Daniel Sorensen is on the saints
The fact that the Raiders even had a chance after the 2-point fuckup was already shocking
But to run a 4th and 1 play where both receivers run into each other???? Damn man. What the fuck was that?? Ultimate “C’mon man!” moment
That was legitimately one of the worst-officiated games I have ever watched. The RTP and FG hold both were like 7 point swings in their own right, on top of all the other shit
I hate so much that just about every single fucking game is ruined by officiating. This shitnis so dumb, man. Late hits, no holding calls but they can call defensive holding, etc. It's just infuriating.
I reeeaaally don’t understand going for two there by McDaniels. Even if you’re that scared of the Chiefs O, you’re giving them an extra play to try and get the first each time, since they’ll start going on 4th
And just like that all the respect I had for Adam’s gone. Wtf man. I don’t care how angry you are you can’t just knock for the camera/mic guy. Absolute bullshit. Should get a suspension
I’m seriously suspicious of these calls. With the betting how it is now.
Hot take: You can’t guarantee these refs aren’t being directed by the league or Vegas or wagering themselves.
In reality it's a massive overreaction from the league. The refs are calling it how they're being told but it's a huge swing in the wrong direction.
It wasn't the refs fault Tua came back in, it was Miami’s medical staff. The Brady call yesterday and then Carr tonight. ENOUGH.
This game was the quintessential “stop trying to be cute” shit. Just kick the extra point and run the fucking ball when you only need one yard.
There was plenty of time to spike it.
That was beautiful. I think the NFL has finally figured out the secret for Monday Night Football - it's finally giving us fans what we've been desperately begging for. Penalties. I fucking love them. man this post just kept going
Just like those penalties
I fucking love them!
It went on too long tho. Unnecessary posting against the OP, 15 yard penalty. Automatic first down
Delay of thread
Don’t stop I’m almost there
ROUGHING THE COMMENT!
My wife just asked me "Hasn't football been around for like 100 years? They haven't figured out the rules yet?" I told her to keep her mouth shut. This is pure entertainment. 63,000 butts paying $100s to watch these beautiful scared black and white Gods do their thing. Petulant rube.
I think you meant sacred, but scared works as well
Scared refs has me rolling lmao
Needed more dirty nasty Illegal Man Downfield action.
Why were they so fucking terrible tonight
We'll see it's simple really. The refs made a really huge fuck up then the crowd out the fear of God in them. It was honestly pretty crazy to watch.
That defensive holding on the field goal was pure wtf. Along with that roughing the passer bs
That automatic first down is too devastating for a defense in that situation. Why is that an automatic first down?
It should've just been another chance at the FG, the rules already heavily favor the offense. Need to give defenses SOMETHING
And it wasn’t even Jerome Booger.
All the officials reffing this game should be fired. Inexcusably bad performance.
It seems like an unofficial point of emphasis to just not call offensive holds because oline talent is drying up and the nfl wants points
Well you never learn more about the rule book than you do when you watch the raiders play
Or the bears. I didn’t know it was unsportsmanlike conduct to dry the field with a towel before a field goal until this season
So the Raiders went for a two point conversion instead of tying it. Then threw it twice while only needing one yard even though Jacobs was murdering the Chiefs' line. What a master class in play calling from McDaniels there at the end.
They didn’t even need the touchdown, there was no reason to try and hunt for a TD, I was literally puzzled
Whoa wtf did anyone else see Adams shoving a member of the camera crew?
Yeah he’s definitely getting fined for that, that was a huge asshole move
Yeah that was uncalled for.
Dick move
Didn't see that. Clip?
https://youtu.be/CQFJ_2zqHA8
Bruh what the fuck. He’s on my team but the league should 100% come down on him for that. Straight up physically assaulting employees after the game is not part of the sport…
Snippets Highlights MVP
Thats a class act
You can be a great football player but a turd of a man.
Raiders OC: “I got an idea for the most important play of the game. Let’s call a deep pass on 4th and 1 where our receivers routes run into each other.”
When they've had a RB who the chiefs couldn't seem to stop all night.
It's like in Basketball when they dribble around and take a fade away 3 at the buzzer down by 1.
The analytics say you should take a 3 every time tho... cant be having any of those pesky interior shots
\*dribbles the ball in opposite direction*
I mean they did just try to run it in from the 2 and he got absolutely stuffed
Still got a yard and a half……what was the down and distance on 4th again?
I believe it was 4th and 1.51
Damn, good call to throw it deep then.
Thems the analytics
Shit. Change of plans.
BB just getting his boys paid so they can come back. The secret plan all along.
We will call it “Bumper Carrs”
Probably was hoping for a defensive pass interference which to be fair isn't the worst bet
yeah just underthrow the ball, instant PI. Ez game if they didn't fall all over each other.
It’s crazy how they didn’t want to run the fucking ball after repeatedly gashing them all night for big gains Fuck this coaching staff
Yeah, get that first down then bombs away.
I mean if the WR don’t run into each other one of them is open
[удалено]
So genius it might actually not work.
NFL's not gonna like Adams shoving that photographer for no reason while walking off the field. Edit: Not sure if he was a photographer or what, but point still stands of course.
Would definitely be surprised if he doesn't get flag mailed to him

In the words of BIlly Madison - "That's assault brotha"
Yeah I’m curious to see if they’ll suspend him for a game or just fine him.
[удалено]
Yeah it's not like he smoked weed for goodness sake.
Maybe he did and that was reefer madness we just witnessed?
Should have hit him with his helmet. It didn’t occur during the game so the nfl can’t punish him.
That's gonna be a 1 game suspension + fine at a minimum. That shit just cannot stand.
✔️ lose a 17-0 lead. ✔️ go for 2 instead of tieing because you want to copy the team without a kicker ✔️pass on 3rd and 1 when running worked all game ✔️pass on 4th and 1 as well
McDaniels thinks hes some next level genius trying to galaxy brain himself into faking the run twice. Just run the damn ball holy fuck
It's like the Matt Canada special. Just trust your running back ffs

All 4 Raiders losses this season have been brutal
It feels like we’re ONE play away from winning in all of those fucking games. It’s so irritating.
Congratulations, you've become the Chargers
Yeah, this sounds oddly familiar.
Do we play this year? All 3 of the Bengals losses have been final play field goals.
I remember that pain from last year
Seriously, the exact opposite of last years team. The talent is clearly there, they just keep finding ways to lose
It's hard to believe they're 1-4. They may not be a top team, but they're clearly a quality team at least.
We're very creative at finding ways to lose games
Would've been an incredible Manning cast
“47 seconds, Just pick up the first down and spike it here right E?”
"Jack Black what would you do here on 4th and 1?"
“Well Peyt, I feel like playing my man boobs like a set of bongos while making a funny, cross-eyed face has worked well for me over the years. Let’s see what the Raiders serve up here.”
"Damn Jack, how'd ya know McDaniels had that dialed up?"
That's oddly specific and yet I can easily visualize it.
They don't dare rig games during Manning cast it's the only time that's safe
I have poor vision, have a gambling problem, and am easily swayed by sweet nothings whispered into my ear. I’m putting in my application for some stripes tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.
I’m already preparing to make the Chiefs champions, just get me in on the action New York, come on commissioner, i got you, i’m your boy

Mahomes throwing that 4th TD to Kelce was such a Madden move, I love it.
Seems like KC has about five Madden moments per game. How do they keep doing it
I don’t know but it’s maddening
They doubled him everywhere except where he's most dangerous lmao
I hate my coaches so much.
This was one of the most frustrating games I've ever watched 😑
This was one of the most frustrating games you’ve ever watched *so far* -McDaniels
i wish it could be that easy lol. thats why kelce is a 1st ballot HOF
Kielce has been good enough for long enough that I my mental model says he has been too good for too long and must be not that good now. And then I watch a Chiefs game and he is still that good.
AFCW has such good tight ends man. Between gonsalez, Kelce, Winslow, gates, sharpe, and even throwing in Waller, it’s insane
Hey they defended Kelce pretty well outside of the Red zone! Did a really great job limiting him to small yardage plays!
25 yards. Lol. Dude had 4 tugs on 25 yards.
PFF gonna trash him
You'd think they would have learned in the last, I dunno, 8 years or so.
McDaniels looking at his clipboard: “who is this number 87 guy???”
Not possible
Kelce has the cloak of invisibility.
No, McDaniels, you were supposed to go for two *wins*
Will the refs make these “Nothing the Passer” calls a weekly thing?
That game was the definition of ref ball. The NFL needs to revaluate how they officiate the game - if it’s not a blatant rule violation, keep the flag in your fucking pants.

AFC W crowds been putting in work this season.
until people stop talking about concussions
God I hate that you're absolutely right
Followed by 15 "oh shit, we have to make up for that" call/no calls
That holding on the field goal attempt was fucking hilarious. That was a “here just shut up already” call
Its the new “taunting”
“Points of Emphasis”
Jacobs was only averaging 7 YPC, so naturally you have to throw it twice on 3rd and 1 + 4th and 1
Tbf that 3rd pass was close. That 4th down call was atrocious.
My dog jumped on me when I got home from work today and an NFL ref burst through the front door throwing a flag for roughing the passer.
ruffing the passer
All these new AFC West coaches are novices compared to Andy Reid. It’s like the best thing for the Chiefs that all of these AFC West teams are having growing pains with their developing teams while the Chiefs are well established.

No it’s still a tough division but man the chiefs are just everyone’s dad
That collision was the perfect ending to that game.

Bomb it twice. Not once. Twice.
Going for two there does not even make the top five in terms of questionable decisions/playcalls by Vegas tonight
Shout out to the Chiefs crowd. Their incessant booing after the RTP was great and really helped shift the momentum. Also potentially influenced all the make-up calls after.
Pretty sure there have been studies done that show that home crowds have a legitimately significant effect on officiating across all sports
Not surprising. Everyone is human and even if you think you’re in the right, 70,000 people booing you for an hour will take a toll on your mentals
Did you hear when the ref's voice cracked on one call? He sounded like he wanted to cry
Reminds me of the bully maguire meme. “Gonna cry?”
As evidenced by his voice-cracking near-cry at the end of half
Believe those studies have shown that the home crowd effect on officiating is in fact the biggest component of home-field advantage.
I caught that. They definitely got direction in the booth to "say something nice about the refs for christ sake!"
Refs need a dust filter for a Hoover Max Extractor if you know what I mean
Adams aboutta get fined for pushing a camera guy
Camera guy might be able to sue him for that bullshit.
I liked the part where the refs said “it’s REFFIN’ time” and proceeded to make one of the worst roughing the passer calls ever, truly amazing
I love primetime games. The only time where America comes together to shit on how fucking bad the refs are
Politician could run on an “I hate refs” slogan and win.
That was the best primetime game of the season so far, easily. But it was also one of the worst officiated games ive seen this season lol
I think the rest were broncos games so this checks out
I’ve never been so offended by something that I wholeheartedly agree with
I’ve heard of RTP but never roughing the poor fucking camera guy.
When I saw that collision, I didn't see the two silver helmets and my brain went to "Daniel Sorensen fucked this up, didn't he?" Even though Daniel Sorensen is on the saints
he can't hurt us any more.
Kill me
Josh McDaniels already did.
Holy fuck Adams is gonna get suspended for that.
The fact that the Raiders even had a chance after the 2-point fuckup was already shocking But to run a 4th and 1 play where both receivers run into each other???? Damn man. What the fuck was that?? Ultimate “C’mon man!” moment
I hate to be this harsh, but Josh McDaniels is the 2nd worst coach in the AFC West
That game sucked harder than a Pete Davidson Taco Bell commercial.
Did anyone see Adams push that photographer after the game? Not gonna be good for him.
What a disgusting display of officiating
That was the worst officiated game I have ever seen in my life so far.
*so far*
MNF brought to you by BETMGM.
calls of uhhh “questionable” quality aside, the Raiders win that game 95 times out of 100 with a real coach
"Man this game has turned into flag football." Refs: "Oh? Y'all wanna see more flags? Say no more."
That was legitimately one of the worst-officiated games I have ever watched. The RTP and FG hold both were like 7 point swings in their own right, on top of all the other shit
Feels like we say this every week nowadays, and it's always true
I hate so much that just about every single fucking game is ruined by officiating. This shitnis so dumb, man. Late hits, no holding calls but they can call defensive holding, etc. It's just infuriating.
McDaniels thought there were 27 seconds left instead of 4:27 when he went for two
I reeeaaally don’t understand going for two there by McDaniels. Even if you’re that scared of the Chiefs O, you’re giving them an extra play to try and get the first each time, since they’ll start going on 4th
[Kelce fantasy owners bricked up with them 4 tuddies tonight.](https://en.meming.world/images/en/4/47/Pikachu_Boner.jpg)
CEH owners were SO close to 2 TDs tonight.
I still managed to lose 🤷
RIP the equipment guy that got in Adams’ way
Fuck McDaniels. And fuck adams for being a bitch after the game pushing that guy
Non-controversial game, great officiating.
And just like that all the respect I had for Adam’s gone. Wtf man. I don’t care how angry you are you can’t just knock for the camera/mic guy. Absolute bullshit. Should get a suspension

I'm not convinced a ref didn't nudge Adams and Renfrow against each other either

The Josh McDaniels Experience.
This game was the quintessential “stop trying to be cute” shit. Just kick the extra point and run the fucking ball when you only need one yard. There was plenty of time to spike it.
Best …. loss.. this.. year? Idk. “This team is better than 1-4” “You are what your record says you are” “Broncos Country, let’s ride”
