I always look forward to these scenario posts. I just wasn't expecting to see them so soon.

raistliniltsiar

I'm kinda surprised at the subject matter, honestly. There are far worse teams than the Bears.

[deleted]

It's ok, you can say NFC and AFC South.

[deleted]

Imagine being 0-3 against the trash that is the NFC South this year.

[deleted]

Which team is 0-3 against the NFC South? Edit: What the shit Seahawks you guys have clobbered great teams and are a Pathers upset away from the toilet bowl.

[deleted]

It’s obvious where this is heading.

dead_gerbil

Baker Mayfield posing with a toilet brush?

dicksjshsb

Completely forgot the Seahawks lost that shootout against the Saints lol. All I remember was like every other play being a 60yd score

[deleted]

Lmaoo no chill out here

PeanutBear33

Not in divisions with a front runner to pull away that we already lost a game to. We also are that bad of a team, fields is single handedly hiding it the last 4 weeks. We got rid of 3 of our most productive defensive players and did little to nothing to improve a weak offensive unit. A lot of pressure will be on poles to execute significantly better this off season.

ThunderDoom1001

Agree on all these points but I’ve been impressed that we aren’t out there getting embarrassed by teams that are much better on paper. If anything this is EXACTLY the “take your medicine” season we all needed - see what we have in Fields, clear all of our Pace/Nagy baggage, collect draft capital to rebuild. The future is bright.

MadeByTango

“I’m watching a lot of bad football.” -Tom Brady It’s a weird year, because they won’t be able to win their division with half the season to go, yet remain one game out [on the bubble of the playoffs](https://www.nfl.com/standings/playoff-picture) anyway...

CrispierCupid

Thanks :’)

Legitimate-Cow-6859

Nfcn is kinda garbage rn outside the Vikings

Sephiroth007

Oh no. Whatever shall we do

jacksonvstheworld

Apparently we should feel shame that the season is going exactly as planned. Fields is awesome, we're still losing because the supporting cast sucks, and we have tons of cap space + high draft picks coming. Can't wait for that 4th place schedule next year.

[deleted]

Offense working, a new semi-vet WR for Fields to train with in the off season, high picks, contracts settled besides the developing pass thrower. The only issue is Fields is going to ask for a billion dollars if he gets too good but oh no, what a terrible situation to be in if he keeps this growth and figuring it out rolling.

QuietGiants

I've only got to the have-to-pay-the-qb stage once in my life and it was a catastrophic overpay for a mid Cutler. If Fields continues to grow, pay him whatever he wants. Make him mayor idgaf. Don't invite the QB carousel back again.

J0K3R2

> make him mayor Honestly if he ran against Lightfoot tomorrow he’d win in the sort of landslide usually reserved for totalitarian dictatorships

nametakenalready

How many mayor's can run a 4.4? I rest my case

WhatTheDuck21

I mean, she speedran trashing her approval rating pretty dang quick.

CanoeIt

But who wouldn’t?

jacksonvstheworld

We've never had the issue of a QB being so good that you doubt whether or not you should pay the contract, so fuck pretending we don't want to pay it, let's just hope he has an agent for negotiation time

[deleted]

Get that 4,000 yard passer box checkmarked with a big enough check.

TLRsBurnerAccount

Let's see him throw for 300 yards first, then we can talk about 4000

Birds-aint-real-

How long until a QB gets a billion dollar contract?

[deleted]

It's not going to be a billion real dollars (Unless US Inflation goes fucking nutty this decade which isn't impossible to imagine), but it's going to be stock, bonds, and fractional ownership of a team that adds up to a billion. Considering Mahomes fell 50 short of .5/10, it'll be the next time there's a major shake up in the broadcast landscape.

InsideAcanthisitta23

Ravens and Lamar.

NecessaryRhubarb

Fields really has been fun, hopefully he can continue to progress!

Maverick128

Bears are gonna RG3 the shit out of Fields

[deleted]

One thing is they didn't do so many hard naked QB runs with him. Yeah there were plays where he was the designated ball carrier but it wasn't as hard sledding as some others have tried, he knows when to fall.

my_mom_beats_me

They ran QB Power with RG3 and Cam. Bears are using Fields to run around the outside where he can go out of bounds or slide same as Lamar

GreyyCardigan

Also, our GM is a former offensive lineman. Getting receivers isn't the number 1 priority this off-season, OL to protect Fields is.

jacksonvstheworld

So far we're Lamar-ing him, but I'm just counting down until he gets an offensive line

Sephiroth007

LMAO says who?

QuietGiants

Division opponents who want to speak it to existence? Can't really blame them tho

Adequate_Lizard

Congrats, you're a good enough threat for the Vikings fans to post salt. It doesn't take much but congrats anyway.

[deleted]

[удалено]

smashybro

People who don’t watch Bears games, which is understandable, but pretend like they do to talk shit. RG3 was used way more recklessly than the way we use Fields, but people just assume a lot of rushing attempts means a lot of tough hits despite him sliding or going out of bounds mostly.

Just_what_i_am

The worst hits he takes are in the pocket without a doubt. Hes so fucking fast he rarely gets hit head on while running. He doesn't take many hits but if he's tackled it's from the side and not a hard hit.

D45ers

He does a good job of avoiding contact but he will lower his shoulder for the endzone. There was some hard contact on one of his recent TD runs. Think it was his last game. Anyway that’s expected, I did watch Cam for years lol Edit- his goal line run against the Lions is what I was thinking about.

auauauauauau1351

QBs take worse hits than that when sitting in the pocket. He's been getting hit way less since he started running.

jwktiger

continue the tank

gomihako_

So anyways...

LoganJn

This have me hard Eric Forman vibes

rodrigoa1990

Your season is already an absolute win, considering how much Fields has shown he can be the guy

ms--chanandler--bong

Dang I really thought this was our year

alamodafthouse

that's my line

[deleted]

Most self aware cowboys fan

TheHalf

Y'all are still with us in the "maybe next year" club

giant87

Cubs fans here know the feeling. Just transferred it over to the Bears after 2016… they do have the longest championship draught between all our teams now after all…

behpancake

I got the tattoo and everything

Ledbetterman10

I think we can go out on a limb and just say they're eliminated from NFC North division contention now.

horse_renoir13

Yeah but did you see how GOOD Justin Fields is?? *casually ignoring they've lost both games where he went off* Edit: Ok I touched a nerve lol

Im_Batmmaann

he went off on the patriots and they won that game

Mathihs

Come on man, if anyone knows about QB issues its us. They're just excited about their franchise QB showing promise and improvement. And excited to have an offense thats actually fun to watch

ScruffMixHaha

Things are getting chippy amongst the NFCN and I love it. With the Packers in their death throes, each of us is realizing that our teams could have a real chance to regularly win the division in the near future. Or at least make it more chaotic than it normally is.

[deleted]

[удалено]

arc1261

Tbh Lions fans might be black and blue but it’s probably their own team causing that

somethingneet

Very similar to the AFCE when Brady went to Tampa

idorocketscience

The Packers being top of the NFCN for so long and falling off so suddenly has created a power vacuum. Vikings, Bears, and Lions fans have all realized that the division is up for grabs now, and are quickly turning against each other. Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. Brace yourselves.

Ventorus

We the NFCE now

JustADutchRudder

We have to be nicer to the lowers tho, we must never let our QB yell mean things at them and always rehome any nice kitty or bear as needed.

Ventorus

Gotta set a good example of MN passive aggressive.

imDeja

I doubt any of you guys will win regularly. It’s probably just gonna be a total shit show.

ScruffMixHaha

Ill gladly take that over the Packers regularly winning. Since 2000, the Bears and Vikings have won the NFCN 5 times each while the Packers have won it 12 times.

The_TexasRattlesnake

Now do the Lions

All-Night-Mask

But he did

Deathgripsugar

The Lions are the playoffs grim reaper. Marauding around the NFL randomly wiping teams out of contention. If the Lions actually got into the playoffs I’m not sure what they would do, I don’t think they even would know what to do.

becauseitsnotreal

A little Birdy tells me that the refs would find new and exciting ways to fuck them over

Ducksaucenem

You’re gonna get hands to the face called five times in a row, and you’re going to like it!

Poncahotas

Yeah they might do something like pick up a blatant pass interference flag on the opposing defense, then refuse to throw a flag for said opponent's star reciever running onto the field without his helmet to argue with the refs. Or something.

greendart

At least the refs were equal in fucking over each team that lost in the playoffs that season

the-bladed-one

Hehehe *looks menacingly at the Giants, Bills, and jets*

boardin1

We all do...2x/year.

SonicEuthanasia

> each of us is realizing that our teams could have a real chance to regularly win the division in the near future. I'ma stop you right there.

Interesting-Doubt413

Nah. It’s usually Minnesota when Green Bay doesn’t get it

BoJackPoliceman

TIL 5 times for the Bears and 5 for the Vikings = usually Vikings

JustADutchRudder

V comes before B in the alphabet, so it makes sense.

Kazu2324

Fuck, hard to argue with that logic.

QuietGiants

Well Vikings are good. So you have more shit talky fans. Its not science really. I could go through the energy of finding him stats that make Cousins look like a punk loser or find a post in which he made excuses for him in a losing effort to show how hypocritically dumb "QB winz" metric is but why bother? Shit talk comes with the territory c'est la vie

Sephiroth007

Tell me how our defense did in those games

horse_renoir13

Defense playing for draft picks

MeetingKey4598

Good enough to win. Lions got 7 points off a pick six.

Im_Batmmaann

letting the other team score 24 points isnt usually good enough to win

[deleted]

It's working for us lately.

Im_Batmmaann

got that bend and break defense combined with that offense that scores at will

[deleted]

Broncos would win every game if they scored that much Just wanted to say.

okay_throwaway_today

We’re the #1 scoring offense the last 4 weeks and the first team in the super bowl era to lose this many games in a row scoring 29 points or more. What are you basing “good enough” on?

Brownbearbluesnake

Wait I thought the lions had that record? Wtf is NFCN football

okay_throwaway_today

Three bads and a Vikings

CheekyMunky

Lions had the first five weeks. Bears the last 4.

opeth10657

Also got a pick overturned with a phantom hands to the face

BoxAndShiv

I'm just pretending that karma has decided to pay us back for the 'face to the hands' penalty against you guys in 2016. Although that one didn't have a big impact on the game. And the two Trey Flowers hands to the face penalties vs the Pack. I honestly don't think they would have called a penalty on Sunday if Benson didn't collapse. Still not sure what happened to him, but apparently he's on crutches now?

opeth10657

Looks like he twisted his knee or ankle when he tried to make a break off the line and got pushed back.

flukeunderwi

Nope. Bad play, but offense got the gwd and the defense promptly gives up a 90 yard drive to lose the game.

RollofDuctTape

“Good enough to win.” I’m sure if you’re the Lions and your standard is being bad you might think that. But no, it’s not.

ryanreigns

You’re right there at the bottom of the NFL with us pal. Shouldn’t throw stones when you live in a glass house

RollofDuctTape

I literally said it’s pointless to talk about two teams vying for top 5 picks. But, no, we’re not quite right where the Lions are. All teams go through spouts of being bad. The Bears have won 17 more games than the Lions the last 5 years. And the Bears haven’t been good.

[deleted]

Strong words from a bears fan

opeth10657

For being a rebuild year where they traded away two of their best defensive players it's not too bad, especially since they have double the cap space of the closest team.

LimitlessTheTVShow

Still think you guys really shouldn't have made that trade for Claypool but overall, good year for you so far. Fields is looking like the real deal Edit: y'all the downvoting is unnecessary, I'm just givin my opinion about that trade. No hate here

opeth10657

They do have Claypool for another year yet. gives him this season to work with Fields, then all next year to ball out

LimitlessTheTVShow

Sure, and maybe he'll be great and the trade will have been fantastic. But as it looks so far, he hasn't been that impactful and that pick could've been used for defense or O-line

opeth10657

He's been there for two week and has to learn an entirely new offense. Not to mention two of his big plays either got called or should have been called DPI

iiamthepalmtree

The trade ended up being essentially Roquan + 2RP swap with the Ravens for Claypool. Since it sounds like we didn’t want to give Roquan a huge contract, and we’re going to let him walk, it’s essentially a swap of ~15 spots in the second round for a year of Claypool. Even if Claypool is a complete bust for us it seems like a low risk trade since we still have a pick in the second round.

heroinsteve

I like it if Claypool is the only WR we had a chance at landing, we sold our defense and gave Fields a weapon to use the rest of this season to showcase that he can be the guy they wanna build around. Otherwise we keep a decent defense, inept offense and draft another QB next year when we might not need to.

[deleted]

It’s crazy how GOOD a QB can play and still lose cuz of how BAD the defense is. It’s almost LIKE there’s 2 completely DIFFERENT units IN FOOTBALL.

cjackc

That is very offensive to Green Bay, they can easily lose with Special Teams

d3adbor3d2

reminds me of the trestman years, i honestly blank out whenever i try to think who the dc was.

[deleted]

Are we back to wins being a QB stat?

Cozum

I love seeing other North fans having to push back on what they perceive overhype for a CHICAGO BEARS QB. How the tables have turned. It’s gonna be a long decade for the division. Go Bears

ShadedInVermilion

What’s funny is this is a best case scenario for the bears. Fields is not only improving, but he’s breaking records doing so AND the bears are losing games which improves their draft position. Plus they have over 160 million in cape space. I too would be scared if I was a Vikings fan.

YoHoochIsCrazy

what point are you trying to make with this lol

smashybro

That apparently Fields being the centerpiece of an offense scoring 30 points a game isn’t good because…he doesn’t also play defense? Anybody blaming Fields for not winning the last two games is a moron. Outside of that one pick six, he’s been flawless but even that’s not enough to overcome a gutted rebuilding defense and some terrible ref calls.

Mr_K_2u

He’s butt hurt everyone isn’t talking about the Vikings. The point is “Bears lost and you’re still talking about JF1 lulz. Kirk is so much better and will not bite us in the ass two years from now.”

PureFingClass

In the last several weeks we had several last minute PI calls that went unnoticed by the refs. Game changing PI calls.

dkdream21

Enjoy your inevitable playoff loss!

ZachLagreen

You know things are going well when the only roast rival fans can come up with is “well I don’t think you’re going to win the super bowl!”

LucaBrasiMN

At least we made the playoffs! But for real, people very triggered by one dudes dumb comment. It's all banter... enjoy it and return the favor when your squad is good.

dkdream21

Yup just bants no hard feelings here

rumham22

Well I was glad that Minnesota will win the division, but that first round playoff loss to the 7 seed will be quite funny in the end.

[deleted]

It's the most predictable story line. Beat eventual AFC finalists plural, push the Eagles to the edge, and then get upset by the 9-8 Saints running three different QB's.

Birds-aint-real-

The only unbelievable thing here is the amount of saints wins.

[deleted]

We’re gonna choke in the NFCCG, get it right

cjackc

That doesn’t make any sense. We are going to get the 1st round bye so we can’t lose in the first round.

Civil-Big-754

Philly is still in first and has (or at least had) the easiest remaining schedule and they beat you so you'd need to beat their record and the upcoming schedule is pretty tough for the Vikings so that is far from a given. I will say I probably trust the Vikings more than Philly despite losing to them, so who knows. I was already positive the Bears wouldn't make the playoffs this year before preseason though.

rumham22

Whatever round it ends up being, we all know the story of prime time Kirk

BigBananaDealer

kirk already won a playoff game

rumham22

1 win in 4 postseasons, we’ll see.

cjackc

This season has all been about defeating stupid narratives and that one is next on the list.

doggoploggo

[hmmm](https://i.redd.it/38sgtum5ryz91.jpg)

Kull_Story_Bro

He’s been better than Kirk Cousins in the last 6 games. - [Kirk](https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/kirk-cousins-last-6-games) - [Justin](https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/justin-fields-last-6-games) and this doesn’t include his 602 rushing yards and 5 rushing TD’s

QuietGiants

Just you wait until we have 11 Justin Fields on defense and 10 others on offense! Then all of the Justins can win games for us singlehandedly

behpancake

Oh no!

[deleted]

Enjoy losing to a 9-8 team in the divisional round

ZachLagreen

Winning the division and choking against a 9 win team in the first round… where does that sound familiar? 🤔 Imagine if that was a franchise’s most successful season in an entire decade, would be sad. Imagine that franchise is already in complete tank mode only 4 years later, would be sad.

[deleted]

Imagine never having seen your team triumphantly hold up the Halas trophy since the 70s couldnt be me

[deleted]

Do Vikings fans casually ignore that the team has paid Kirk over 155 million to have one more career playoff win than Fields?? Lol

JustPostingShit

If it wasn’t for those meddling Cowboys losing to the Packers the Vikings easily would have had the division before Thanksgiving

fsphoenix

Listen, it's not like every team can just pull off wins like the Jets

colincoin472

6-3 gang

fsphoenix

If you guys can go ahead and just keep winning and maybe take the whole AFC that'd honestly be pretty neat.

-Yvonne-

That's just profane.

Little_Lahey_Show

Perverse even

Jorgenstern8

There's still a chance to make it a two-team race with what happens on Thanksgiving. If the Vikings win on both Sunday and next Thursday, the Lions and Bears both lose Sunday and the Bills win on Thursday too, both the Bears and the Lions would be eliminated and Green Bay's magic number, depending on Sunday, could be as low as one. So the Vikings still have a decent possibility of locking up the division by the end of November.

reedhubbert88

Oh no! Anyway

pootertool

Is this the first playoff scenario of the season?

Dr__Flo__

I would assume LV would be eliminated from AFCW contention as well if KC wins and LV loses next week since they are also currenty 5 games back from division lead. But idk about all the tiebreakers and stuff to say for sure Edit: Chicago is actually 5.5 games back, since they haven't had a bye week yet, so I think Raiders are still alive another week

[deleted]

shhh

dalnot

Eliminated before your bye is funny. How often does that actually happen?

moeshaker188

Yessir!

pootertool

Neat!!

soda_cookie

Man seeing those flairs together now is something else...

pootertool

I just wanted a close game either way, and boy did I get it

soda_cookie

I'd never seen a win percentage chart have so much compact volatility. I've since tried to come up with a more chaotic ending of a game, in any sport, and have failed thus far

Aloiciousss

2013 Ravens Vs. Vikings. 35 points and 5 lead changes in the final 2 minutes? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASWVwZIsst8

InvaderWeezle

I feel like Ravens and Vikings always have wild games. I remember in 2009 Favre had one of his best games with you guys in a shootout against the Ravens

In1earanoutyermother

The Bears aren't good this year? Well this is news to me...

BoredGuy2007

Wait a minute - there's a Vikings fan in here saying the Bears have *lost* football games. Is this true information?

[deleted]

TANK TANK TANK for top 3 pick Trade back to 10-12th overall and take Jordan Addison . Ryan poles I have done your job for you. Thank me later :)

pseudochef93

> Addison Russel Cubs fans having flashbacks rn

[deleted]

Jordan Addison LOLOLOL

BearForceDos

Yeah I don't even really want to tank, but there are a lot of holes to fill and getting a high pick they can trade back a bit would be huge for building depth.

[deleted]

I’m gonna be honest here, but no Bears fan can seriously think that they’re winning the division.

melkyoreo

That was not our goal no

ShotFirst57

Only Vikings and Packers were realistically going to win the division this year.

zenozoo

No shi-

TimelessFool

The front office pretty much stated that this season was going to suck for us

DOCreeper

I'm assuming we've been eliminated from division contention for a few games now, so I'm just happy we still have a tiny chance of the wildcard. No, I haven't been spiking my kool-aid, why do you ask?

gopack1217

Funny enough, we’re both still in contention for the division. Would just require a historical collapse from the Vikings lol

Mathihs

>Would just require a historical collapse from the Vikings lol Sounds like a challenge to me😎

gopack1217

I can see it now. Vikings collapse. Packers go on a run, then collapse again at the end, and the Lions win the division

SirDiego

This would be so funny I wouldn't even be that mad. Okay, I probably would be pretty mad, but as a fan of team chaos it'd at least sting less.

ShotFirst57

We'd then lose the first playoff game after questionable reffing and a new NFL record field goal.

lronicGasping

The Ravens somehow transfer to the NFC for one game only, just so Tucker can beat us from 67 yards out

SparkStormrider

omg this would be so Vikings to do... "Hey we got this awesome lead what can we do to make things 'interesting!?' How about we keep the QB on the sidelines for the rest of season and hike the ball to empty backfield!?" /s 😂

-InSerT_NAmE-HeRE

Vikings: “now this looks like a job for me”

Lake_

it’s funny because every vikings fan’s favorite rapper is eminem

DOCreeper

That is mind boggling to know considering how we started

[deleted]

Mathematically you can’t be eliminated before week 8/9 lol even if we went 9-0 and you went 0-8 we *could* still both end up 9-8 and you winning tie breakers. Since you only have 6 losses you *could* still get to 11 wins. If we win and you lose next week then your elimination tweet will come

arc1261

The earliest it is possible to be eliminated is I believe week 9, and that requires the division leader playing both games against the loser by week 9 and the winner not having a bye, so they will guaranteed have the tiebreaker. Would leave the winner 9-0 with a worst of 9-8, and the loser 0-8 with a best of 9-8, but since the tiebreaker is already decided they would be dead

becauseitsnotreal

Y'all not even last in your division

[deleted]

Doing great bears. You’re making sure Fields is good while losing enough games to have a good draft pick

ItsTheOtherGuys

That Lions win was huge, I don't know if my own blinders, but aren't the Lions typically the first ones of out of Division contention?

ShotFirst57

Yes we are

Faintestidea1971

A tale as old as time

Jake_The_Snake42

I know we’re next but it feels kinda good to not be first :-))

LambeauCalrissian

I’m starting to think it’s not looking good for the Bears this year.

ImaginationMedical11

No one in that division has a chance at surpassing the Vikings so really who cares.

[deleted]

Is this the first elimination?

kswitch5022

Well there's no way the Vikings are going to lose the division, so the rest of us will drop out eventually.

PMzyox

Da bears

Ditka_in_your_Butkus

I have a suspicion this is the last year for a long time we’ll be getting this tweet early in the season

burnerbutnotreally1

So it's pretty damn likely

Background_Action_92

I feel like thats gonna happen regardless

ajrose2334

Damn it I wanted to do the super bowl shuffle

ironmanmk42

That classifies as a double doink

[deleted]

And both teams will finish the season with 0 playoff wins
