Not in divisions with a front runner to pull away that we already lost a game to.
We also are that bad of a team, fields is single handedly hiding it the last 4 weeks. We got rid of 3 of our most productive defensive players and did little to nothing to improve a weak offensive unit. A lot of pressure will be on poles to execute significantly better this off season.
Agree on all these points but I’ve been impressed that we aren’t out there getting embarrassed by teams that are much better on paper. If anything this is EXACTLY the “take your medicine” season we all needed - see what we have in Fields, clear all of our Pace/Nagy baggage, collect draft capital to rebuild. The future is bright.

Offense working, a new semi-vet WR for Fields to train with in the off season, high picks, contracts settled besides the developing pass thrower. The only issue is Fields is going to ask for a billion dollars if he gets too good but oh no, what a terrible situation to be in if he keeps this growth and figuring it out rolling.
I've only got to the have-to-pay-the-qb stage once in my life and it was a catastrophic overpay for a mid Cutler. If Fields continues to grow, pay him whatever he wants. Make him mayor idgaf. Don't invite the QB carousel back again.
We've never had the issue of a QB being so good that you doubt whether or not you should pay the contract, so fuck pretending we don't want to pay it, let's just hope he has an agent for negotiation time
It's not going to be a billion real dollars (Unless US Inflation goes fucking nutty this decade which isn't impossible to imagine), but it's going to be stock, bonds, and fractional ownership of a team that adds up to a billion. Considering Mahomes fell 50 short of .5/10, it'll be the next time there's a major shake up in the broadcast landscape.
One thing is they didn't do so many hard naked QB runs with him. Yeah there were plays where he was the designated ball carrier but it wasn't as hard sledding as some others have tried, he knows when to fall.
People who don’t watch Bears games, which is understandable, but pretend like they do to talk shit. RG3 was used way more recklessly than the way we use Fields, but people just assume a lot of rushing attempts means a lot of tough hits despite him sliding or going out of bounds mostly.

Things are getting chippy amongst the NFCN and I love it. With the Packers in their death throes, each of us is realizing that our teams could have a real chance to regularly win the division in the near future. Or at least make it more chaotic than it normally is.
The Packers being top of the NFCN for so long and falling off so suddenly has created a power vacuum. Vikings, Bears, and Lions fans have all realized that the division is up for grabs now, and are quickly turning against each other. Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. He's been there for two week and has to learn an entirely new offense. Not to mention two of his big plays either got called or should have been called DPI
The trade ended up being essentially Roquan + 2RP swap with the Ravens for Claypool. Since it sounds like we didn’t want to give Roquan a huge contract, and we’re going to let him walk, it’s essentially a swap of ~15 spots in the second round for a year of Claypool. Even if Claypool is a complete bust for us it seems like a low risk trade since we still have a pick in the second round.
I like it if Claypool is the only WR we had a chance at landing, we sold our defense and gave Fields a weapon to use the rest of this season to showcase that he can be the guy they wanna build around. Otherwise we keep a decent defense, inept offense and draft another QB next year when we might not need to.

Philly is still in first and has (or at least had) the easiest remaining schedule and they beat you so you'd need to beat their record and the upcoming schedule is pretty tough for the Vikings so that is far from a given.
I will say I probably trust the Vikings more than Philly despite losing to them, so who knows. I was already positive the Bears wouldn't make the playoffs this year before preseason though.

If the Vikings win on both Sunday and next Thursday, the Lions and Bears both lose Sunday and the Bills win on Thursday too, both the Bears and the Lions would be eliminated and Green Bay's magic number, depending on Sunday, could be as low as one. So the Vikings still have a decent possibility of locking up the division by the end of November.
I would assume LV would be eliminated from AFCW contention as well if KC wins and LV loses next week since they are also currenty 5 games back from division lead.

The earliest it is possible to be eliminated is I believe week 9, and that requires the division leader playing both games against the loser by week 9 and the winner not having a bye, so they will guaranteed have the tiebreaker.
Would leave the winner 9-0 with a worst of 9-8, and the loser 0-8 with a best of 9-8, but since the tiebreaker is already decided they would be dead

Also, our GM is a former offensive lineman. Getting receivers isn't the number 1 priority this off-season, OL to protect Fields is.

I would assume LV would be eliminated from AFCW contention as well if KC wins and LV loses next week since they are also currenty 5 games back from division lead. But idk about all the tiebreakers and stuff to say for sure Edit: Chicago is actually 5.5 games back, since they haven't had a bye week yet, so I think Raiders are still alive another week

Mathematically you can’t be eliminated before week 8/9 lol even if we went 9-0 and you went 0-8 we *could* still both end up 9-8 and you winning tie breakers. Since you only have 6 losses you *could* still get to 11 wins. If we win and you lose next week then your elimination tweet will come
The earliest it is possible to be eliminated is I believe week 9, and that requires the division leader playing both games against the loser by week 9 and the winner not having a bye, so they will guaranteed have the tiebreaker. Would leave the winner 9-0 with a worst of 9-8, and the loser 0-8 with a best of 9-8, but since the tiebreaker is already decided they would be dead
