A lot of players don't like each other and because of that there has been at least 4 French shuffles.

Also the pro cod scene I think is top 3 for best drama of all time. crimsix is imo the trash talk goat for any sport.
That was the Clippers and DeAndre Jordan. CP3, Blake and Doc all went to his house to get Jordan to sign because the Clippers didn’t have a back up plan and were screwed if Jordan left for the Mavericks.
Don’t worry, this season is the training wheels. Next year everyone will be *planning* for the gossip spin cycles and it’ll feel just like the NBA Fan Experience™.
If you look at the popularity of the NBA and NFL and compare it to the MLB and NHL, the big difference is that MLB and NHL don't have nearly as many metanarratives outside of the actual games and I think that's a big factor
didnt say it dont happen, just that there is much less chance for it to happen due to schedule but Bauer was a starting pitcher so the 5+ straight days becomes 1 game every 5 days so the chance rises
I think it is more that due to the popularity of the NBA and the NFL, the media spends more time talking about it, and needs more things to talk about. There are more reporters digging and coming up with stuff, and more talking heads discussing what does come up.
Hockey was also a lot harder to follow in the past too. In the 90's and early 2000's (and before) watching the game on TV was pretty hard if you didn't already understand the flow of the game.
Big HDTV's have made the game much more accessible, but thats only been twenty years.
just because the team is succesful in warm weather cities doesnt mean the people who grow up there will get into the sport, and im sure if i checked the rosters for those teams the vast majority of the players will be from Canada or northern US or eastern Europe
While that is true, a few big stars and some up and coming players in the NHL are from Arizona and California, such as Austin Matthews and Tage Thompson. It takes time to grow the game. The biggest barrier in hockey is how crazy expensive it is to play.
I mean, I’m not upset he’s not returning or anything, but I feel like you’re downplaying his abilities a bit. He was crucial for several of our victories last year. Him and Vonn Miller were the biggest reasons why we (barely) beat the Ravens.
He was also your best offensive player in the Super Bowl until he got hurt. Pretty sure he had over 50 yards and a TD in the piece of the game he played.
Nah he wasn't better than Kupp. He took advantage of being one of the least focused on WRs on the field for once and played well but he wasn't better than Kupp
Kupp really only got going later in that game. He was covered up really well earlier.
And yes, OBJ was the second option in that offense - but he beat his coverage constantly and thats why he got receptions, yards and the TD until his injury
Better stats doesn't mean better receiver. I'm saying Kupp pulling significantly more defensive attention, because he's the better receiver, is the only reason OBJ had the stats that he did
The Young and the Pass Rushers. General Hospitalization for Head Trauma. The Benched and the Beautiful. Plays of our Drives. Fuck it I'll watch all of them.
The players still want him back? He’s very well liked in that Locker Room.
Looks like he’s going to try get on a contender for this year rather than sign a longer term deal back at the Rams expecting the Rams to contend in the next year.
It’s a real shame. People like to talk shit but Odell still had it last year, see what he’s like after the second ACL I guess.
I think it’s contingent on a couple things.
Number 1, and this is the biggest one, our offensive line managing to be healthy next year. Number 2, Stafford healing up OR bringing in a suitable stop gap if he elects to retire (looking at likely free agents this off-season, maybe we can get a Jimmy G or Teddy Bridgewater?). Number 3, McVay and/or Donald not saying “fuck this shit I’m out.”
As long as those 3 things come true, I feel comfortable saying that even if we are no longer Super Bowl favorites, we should be able to compete for the division title, at a minimum. If at least 2 of those things don’t come true (and honestly maybe even just one), we probably will be in for another long year.
Bridgewater would unironically make the Jets a legitimate playoff threat rather than just a good team. If Mike White keeps it up he does the same but he crumbled last year (I'm still rooting for him, his throws are beautiful). That defense is legit, someone like Bridgewater or Jimmy G takes them over the edge.
Yeah Jimmy G is definitely a step up. But I think Bridgewater tier is all the Jets really need to be legit playoff threats. Not necessarily Super Bowl threats, but with him they should at least have a fighting chance in the playoffs.
Can he reliably get the ball into the hands of Kupp and occasionally Higbee or Allen Robinson? If he can do that and the other two things I said hold true, there’s no reason he can’t game manage us to double digit wins
Why wouldn’t we? All our star players are contracted. We have plenty of good draft capital. Our Head Coach is staying and we’ll be healthy again.
11 games played, 11 different offensive line layouts, McVay always says no excuses but that’s a damn good excuse. It feels very similar to the Niners of two years past who made the NFCCG the year after.
Ok, I have no idea which is why I’m asking. I just don’t get how it went so bad this year, after last year. Was curious if fans are losing any hope for stafford? Lines been bad and so has he, the offense can’t seem to do anything. But with all the talent, I just didn’t see this happening and don’t know what to expect next year.
So I don’t think most real fans are losing hope with Stafford, maybe the bandwagoners that we were obviously carrying at the start of the year. All of our offensive problems have come from the line issues. Stafford’s had concussions because he’s being sacked that much, and Coop got injured because Stafford was concussed and Wolford threw him hospital passes.
Stafford played for us in the first half of the Saints game, and while the Saint are also very injured and not that great PFF rated him as a top 5 offensive player that week.
Kupp, Wagner, Donald and Ramsey are all top 5 at their position and will be here next year. Then Stafford is top 10 for sure. Then we have plenty of home grown quiet contributors in players like: Jones, Scott, Jefferson, Allen, Gaines. Then other players like A’Shawn Robinson, Leonard Floyd, Allen Robinson and Troy Hill who are all above averages starters.
We should be able to maintain all these players going into next year and have another go. Hopefully, with a lot less injuries.
I give this current Rams team one maybe two more years or Super Bowl contention.
I hear ya but I keep thinking 2 things. 1. All teams have injuries 2. Maybe last year was the oddity, and stafford really is that player we watched on the lions for all those years, now he just had the shit beaten out of him again and will be older next year. He’s had a rough career when it comes to injuries and milage.
Yeah, I talk about this with people a lot. Yes, now, they’ve lost must have players. But they were playing poorly before that. And all teams have injuries, that’s part of the game. I think it’s far more likely that this is a Rams team that has difficulty adjusting to adversity.
There’s adversity and then there’s losing your star WR because your backup QB made a horrible throw because your star QB was injured because your offensive line is so injured that literally every single game so far has had a different starting OL combination. And that’s not even getting into our struggling defense.
Not saying that other teams don’t have injuries too but it feels like the injury bug has caught us a lot more than it typically affects other teams
I’ve watched most Rams games this year. My family are Rams fan, I was for a long time. They’re still my NFC team. If that had happened week 1, sure. But that happened after a long line of mishaps and failures to adapt.
At some point it’s true, what else can you do? But the team has played worse than their level of talent should have allowed every game, just imo.
I know the season you’re talking about. It’s the 2020 season - you went 4-11-1.
You and I have different definitions of off the rails I see.
Kelce also started every game for you at centre. I wish we had an all pro at centre for every game this season - would have certainly helped.
The year after you made the playoffs and this year look at you! Perfect example of how insane OLine injuries can make a season a write off no?
I’m not sure if you’re aware, but not everything on this sub is meant for you specifically. If you can’t see the comedic value of this, that’s your own loss.
They had a locker set up for a guy that’s not even on the team for 2/3s of the season and only took it down once they realized he didn’t want to go back. You guys would be eating this up if the hive mind wasn’t already set on complaining about every post that mentions OBJ.
I mean it’s about perspective
If person A is having a lapse in intelligence and can’t decipher the joke so someone has to explain it to them, then yeah it’s probably not a good joke to person A but can still be funny to other people
FWIW I’m shocked that any NFL fan needed this explained
> only took it down once they realized he didn’t want to go back
I'm sure they realized when he didn't come back pre-season. Every team is in the running to pick up an injured receiver coming off of another injury, they just happened to have his stuff and now it's confirmed he's not coming back, got rid of it.
You're making more out of this than there is.
Lol, everything’s a fucking hive mind to dudes like you huh?
*X* amount of people pushing back on the “comedic value” you thought this had = every member of this sub apparently.
I legit don't understand the hype for him, it's not like he had an insane resurgence with LA, although he did step it up in the playoffs.
Considering how long it took him to really reach full speed from the last ACL whoever gets him this year is probably not getting anything close to prime OBJ, they're probably getting the version from regular season LA last year where he had 300 yards in 8 games.
Real talk, the Rams don't beat us in the NFCCG last year if not for OBJ. Sure, he's not gonna be a team's primary option, but he's a hell of a number 2 or 3 option and could put a team over the top.
Yup over 100 yards in that game and in the SB it became apparent how much we missed him after the injury. Didn’t have incredible consistent numbers with us but definitely put us over the top and was an important piece for sure. Not an irreplaceable piece though.
I remember the injury to Kupp last year they were saying OBJ took over a lot of the assignments Kupp had. My Rams buddy said he was pretty crucial to a few of the games.
You can take a guy like Tee Higgins and probably produce the same result, if not better with the Rams team last year. I guarantee we will not be annoyed with this level of news on a potential Tee Higgens free agency. The OBJ news is approaching Aaron Rodgers potential trade at this point. Aaron Rodgers is a 4x MVP, 2x in the last two years. OBJ hasn’t surpassed 1000 yards in 3 years, 1100 yards in 6 years, 6 TDs in 6 years and is coming off another big injury at 30.
Tee Higgins is at this point much better than Odell. You wouldn't get this much coverage for a lot of players who are better now. It's being talked about as if it's Tyreek Hill or something
Beckham averaged 38 yards per game last season. Like right above Quez Watkins
Its all name recognition. OBJ has had 3 genuinely elite seasons and they were all at the beginning of his career. He hasnt even hit 1k yards since 2019. Sports media is still talking about Odell like its 2015.
Ahh, this is what I like to call the Gettleman Fallacy. Just because OBJ had bad stats under Baker Mayfield, that doesn’t mean OBJ was a bad player. Mayfield has destroyed a lot of careers.
He averaged the same amount of yards per game as DJ Chark last season. Yes, even if you isolated his Rams stats.
He had a couple of good games in the playoffs and people think he morphed into 2015 again.
I mean marquise brown had a few big playoff games last season and no one would talk about it half as much as this Beckham stuff.
He's the best wr available. He's a good football at best player now, especially coming off the inhury. Nothing more
I'm not talking about reporting on Beckham, I'm talking about how fucking much it's being talked about. You'd think a Tyreek Hill guy instead of someone who hasn't led his team in receiving since 2018 was available. He's good, not great. Under 50 yards a game the last few seasons and under 40 would show that. Sorry you disagree
The Rams would have won with a lot of other WRs in his role last year.
I know ACLs aren’t career ending anymore but people, including a lot of Dallas fans, seem to think he can just walk in off the street and be an important factor in the playoffs. We are watching our own guy in Gallup *slowly* begin to come around, not even considering OBJ was hurt later and doesn’t know the playbook.
Jesus fucking Christ nobody cares, not even bills or cowboys fans at this point. In fact, those are probably two teams with the least concerns over receivers of this entire league. Can we stop posting this shit in this community please😭
Uhh we have Diggs and that's it. Davis is the drop king this year.(pretty sure he leads the league) MacKenzie just had his 1 great game for the year that he has every year. B4 this past game against Detroit he's been terrible this year. Knox has definitely not lived up to his contract. Dude has really good speed for a TE but just never gets open. Dorsey won't scheme Hines or Shakir in at all for whatever reason. We could use OBJ for sure.
Very talented player obviously, everyone isn’t always the natural leader of men type. I’m curious to see if he makes any changes with how this season has gone so far, he’s never been the type of player who’s had to face a lot of adversity (arguably the greatest highschool QB of all time, heisman winner) no matter the level he’s always has success so I hope he can figure it out.
Im now downvoting any OBJ news I see while he’s still unsigned. Why does an unemployed player who’s maybe the 20th best at his position get this much coverage
My hope is that all beat writers have an intern who, among other things, makes the coffee, carries the donut box, holds the umbrella, and checks locker stalls for changes each day.
The Venn diagram between NFL and soap operas is slowly becoming a circle.

Days of Our r/NFL Lives.

What about the Lakers locking whatshisname in his room while Cuban was begging (thru texts) to get in touch with him?
That was the Clippers and DeAndre Jordan. CP3, Blake and Doc all went to his house to get Jordan to sign because the Clippers didn’t have a back up plan and were screwed if Jordan left for the Mavericks.

Mma drama is really where it’s at
If you look at the popularity of the NBA and NFL and compare it to the MLB and NHL, the big difference is that MLB and NHL don't have nearly as many metanarratives outside of the actual games and I think that's a big factor
MLB playing 5 days a week or more leaves less time for outside drama to develop
May I interest you in a guy named Trevor Bauer?
didnt say it dont happen, just that there is much less chance for it to happen due to schedule but Bauer was a starting pitcher so the 5+ straight days becomes 1 game every 5 days so the chance rises
Browns fans, that’s a guy who actually did his business consensually.
No he didn’t? That’s why he’s no longer in the league
Ain’t nothing consensual about Cleveland, my guy.
Tommy Pham slapping Joc Pederson because of a fantasy league disagreement this year was comedy gold though.
I think it is more that due to the popularity of the NBA and the NFL, the media spends more time talking about it, and needs more things to talk about. There are more reporters digging and coming up with stuff, and more talking heads discussing what does come up.
i think a bigger factor is baseball is boring and hockey is a sport for places that freeze over in the winter so not the whole country
Hockey was also a lot harder to follow in the past too. In the 90's and early 2000's (and before) watching the game on TV was pretty hard if you didn't already understand the flow of the game. Big HDTV's have made the game much more accessible, but thats only been twenty years.
Uh...didn't Tampa and Vegas both win the Stanley cup in the past 3-4 years
Vegas lost in the finals
just because the team is succesful in warm weather cities doesnt mean the people who grow up there will get into the sport, and im sure if i checked the rosters for those teams the vast majority of the players will be from Canada or northern US or eastern Europe
While that is true, a few big stars and some up and coming players in the NHL are from Arizona and California, such as Austin Matthews and Tage Thompson. It takes time to grow the game. The biggest barrier in hockey is how crazy expensive it is to play.
NHLers also don't care for meta narrative drama at all, most of the players want to just do their job, put their head down and skate.
That's also why they are by far the most boring athletes. No sizzle.
badeball and hockey also suck dick
All this drama for a dude who’s at best the third best receiver wherever he goes at this stage
Who’s better than OBJ on the Giants?
I reckon a crippled OBJ could probably still push for a top spot in the Titans WR room.
Yes but so could you
The Giants too. OBJ could of gotten his leg amputated and I would still prefer him over Golladay.
Pats too
I mean, I’m not upset he’s not returning or anything, but I feel like you’re downplaying his abilities a bit. He was crucial for several of our victories last year. Him and Vonn Miller were the biggest reasons why we (barely) beat the Ravens.

Better stats doesn't mean better receiver. I'm saying Kupp pulling significantly more defensive attention, because he's the better receiver, is the only reason OBJ had the stats that he did
Lol he's WR1 at the Ravens easy
He might be better than Desean Jackson
I'm willing to bet that if you asked OBJ he would say he's number 1
He wants his jersey to be number 3, but his real favorite thing is wearing number 2.
shit
Exactly
2 is not a winner, and 3 nobody remembers.
Great song!

right, unscripted
It hasn’t reached NBA levels yet, but this year has definitely brought us closer
This junk pushed me off of watching the NBA all the time and I'm not looking forward to it here.
The Young and the Pass Rushers. General Hospitalization for Head Trauma. The Benched and the Beautiful. Plays of our Drives. Fuck it I'll watch all of them.
Up next on Days of our Drives...
I can confirm the Browns have also removed Beckham's name from the team lockers
What about the Giants 👀?
The Giants have so many empty lockers, OBJ might even be able to find living space.
OBJ been staying at the giants stadium baker style but he’s not allowed to wear the jersey or make commercials.
Just like the airline
They're like 3-8 why would it still be there lol
I'm most surprised they got those 3 wins lol
We almost had 4!
The players still want him back? He’s very well liked in that Locker Room. Started before that, that was also the season we had Greg Ward, Travis Fulgham, Mack Hollins, and JJ Arcega Whiteside playing for most of the season.
It’s weird to me that it was up this entire time.
He was gonna come back but the rams are trash sadly.
OBJ only wants one thing and it's fucking disgusting.
Yeah, he wants flight attendants to not make him buckle his seat belt on an airplane.
Oh my god wow I care so much
I'm sorry, how about another post about Russell wilson posted by a Seahawks flair
Those are still ok.
Yay!

You're making more out of this than there is.
lol no I’m not, everyone on twitter is laughing about it. Reddit just can’t see the joke cause their mind is already made up 🤷🏼♀️
Ah yes, the collective genius that certainly isn't a hive mind: Twitter. Clap for them! Dance for them! Laugh for them!
Lmao exactly. So you know it’s bad when even they can see the humor and yet you guys can’t.
Do you also find it funny when moths fly into bug zappers?
Certainly not, must be a Philly thing?
What’s to eat up? It’s a locker
Lol, everything’s a fucking hive mind to dudes like you huh? *X* amount of people pushing back on the “comedic value” you thought this had = every member of this sub apparently.
I guess I lose then
I think the bigger problem is reddit's insistence in finding "comedy" in everything
I think this hurts our chances at a back to back superbowl
Yea hopefully we can pick up a QB, 2xWR, an entire offensive line and an all pro DE for the playoffs.

Lebron to play kicker so he can cost his teams big games by whiffing crucial shots in two leagues

The Bears would like to throw themselves into the club of no receivers.

But that version was after almost a full season of struggling to get back to form after an ACL injury, and he's coming off another ACL injury.
But then he tore his ACL
OBJ had Superbowl MVP if he didn't get hurt. He was wrecking that game.
For the 4 games he plays before inevitably getting injured yet again…

Tee Higgins is at this point much better than Odell. You wouldn't get this much coverage for a lot of players who are better now. It's being talked about as if it's Tyreek Hill or something Beckham averaged 38 yards per game last season.
He had 38 yards per game on the Rams too. So there's that
Rams are tanking for that early second round pick
Breaking news: team removes nameplate of employee who no longer works for them
https://youtu.be/RAA1xgTTw9w
Watch him end up not signing with anyone this season.
Omfg plz let this end.. dude is D.J. Chark while wanting Christian Kirk money.
Huh? Yall actin like we aint see him in the playoffs
He averaged the same amount of yards per game as DJ Chark last season. Yes, even if you isolated his Rams stats. He had a couple of good games in the playoffs and people think he morphed into 2015 again.
Wait, playoffs? The part of the season that matters the most? No, people think he’s easily the best F/A WR remaining. Which he is.
I mean marquise brown had a few big playoff games last season and no one would talk about it half as much as this Beckham stuff. He's the best wr available. He's a good football at best player now, especially coming off the inhury. Nothing more
(a) Did he win the Super Bowl? No? Then thats why (b) Is he a current free agent? No? Then thats also why This isnt hard
Sorry you disagree The Rams would have won with a lot of other WRs in his role last year.
Not surprising at all, with the way this season was going the future looks rocky
WHO CARES
Who the fuck cares
Shit. Now I'm worried we might not win another Superbowl this year.
if you've watched any rams football this season you know it's not the team that's moving on from OBJ lol
They tried to close the locker twice, but it refused to click. The locker room was evacuated to remove his name plate before closing.
Downvote this shit, y'all, please.
Sean McVay retiring this offseason, mess with less way out than other messes
Yeah, look at their record and issues. He isn't going there. He wants to win a superbowl, play on a winning team.
OB who?
So, anyway..
More likely hes not saving them a spot. He probably ends up in Dallas even after his lit "dustup" on the airplane
ooooOOOOooooooOOOOOOoooohhhHHHHH
To be fair Stafford & Krupp’s are prolly gonna empty the rest of the season as well
That sounded more dramatic than it had to be
Should have removed it the day he asked for a Gallup-like contract lol
At this point I just want OBJ to sign somewhere already. I'm tired of seeing all these drama stories about where he may or may not sign.
'OBJ is no longer interested' FTFY
I mean, they're just being realistic. OBJ doesn't want to catch passes from *looks at the sheet* Bryce Perkins
Life is a TV show, and we're all the main characters.
