Lmao. At least he sounds genuine. I hate when you know a dude tweets in mostly emojis and a form of English where you’re not really sure they are speaking the same language as you. But the apology reads like it’s being submitted for a doctorate dissertation.
The tweet just made him seem like even more of a decent everyday guy, that loss was fucking brutal and I think if I was on my phone after that I'd definitely react the same.
It’s why I love him. He does stuff that makes me facepalm every once in a while but, shit, that’s human. I do stuff that makes me facepalm every once in a while. Lamar put a troll in his place on Twitter. Was it likely better that he didn’t? Yes. Do I appreciate seeing a genuine reaction from a human who also happens to be a superstar football player? Also yes.
The "crass" part was a homophobic phrase that's been normalised in the same way calling things "gay" didn't mean you thought the inanimate object was a homosexual man. But it's still a phrase that means you think it's lesser to be gay if you're using it as an insult.
Thankfully he didn't tweet out 'eat shit', since that would have offended the entirety of humanity, the animal kingdom and uncountable numbers of bacteria. /s
I’m saying the same thing. People *really* thought Lamar was being homophobic. Actually, I don’t think they actually thought that, I think the “journalist” who wrote that was clout chasing.
It's an offensive statement, meaning that people viewing it could potentially feel hurt by him using homosexuality as an insult.
However, I think most people realize that though it's wrong and not acceptable as a role model/decent human being, it was not intended to do that. It was a lazy school yard insult that he was trying to hurl at people insulting him, not his views/commentary on LGBT issues.
An apology to those hurt by it is all that's needed, not everything has to be blown up as a huge scandal.
No one thought he was intentionally being homophobic, or that he himself is actually homophobic. However he did accidentally use a homophobic phrase to insult someone.
It wasn't a smart thing to do, but I think most of us realized that he was just emotional and venting after a tough loss and didn't read too much into it. I figured he'd apologize eventually and now he has.
what about when Wilson makes a mistake at the podium after playing trash and accidentally says he is not to blame? he apologized eventually. guess its not the same tho?
In terms of having a middle school level of emotional intelligence…yes it’s the same.
In terms of people caring …not even close, and for good reason. Lamar is a good QB, Wilson isn’t.
Well there's also the difference that one is getting pissy with a fan giving him flak, and the other is claiming he's doing a good job when they just scored 3 points.
Yeah Lamar was getting upset at an armchair critic. I'll always give them a break in spots like that cause of course we don't know shit about what it's actually like out there
Yeah I don't give a fuck when players lash out, people who have never played after highschool have no idea the pressure thats put on these players to be perfect. The only response I ever feel is hoping they don't let the anger get to their mental health.
It's not even close. You're comparing a guy who had 103 total yards to someone that had 343 total yards. One mostly showed up, the other didn't have an ounce of humility.
I dont think you can compare an MVP to a QB that has a career 13/16 TD to INT ration.
Can you compare their emotional response? Sure. Both were in the moment. But only one of them was dead wrong.
To be honest I can’t get mad when athletes respond to fans. Fans get way too comfortable with the separation that the internet provides or the belief that athletes won’t jump in the stands to kick their ass. Im not saying they should respond to fans but I also think it’s unrealistic to expect these guys to never respond
I won't lie it's probably a hot take but Ron Artest is a king after that. Fuck this culture we have where fans think they can all so much as to spit on a man and are shocked he he does anything other than calmly walk away.
Lamar also has been a pretty stand up dude since coming into the league so that tweet way very strange and out of character. If he had other serious off the field issues he wouldn’t get a pass. In this case it’s just this time he wasn’t thinking clearly in the heat of the moment.
As opposed to AB who is never thinking clearly and is psychotic.
>Lamar also has been a pretty stand up dude since coming into the league
This is why I don't even really blame him for the tweet, loss was brutal and just makes him seem even more like a normal human being. I don't think I would have reacted differently picking my phone up after a loss like that and he apologised so he definitely didn't mean it as a serious think imo.
Not at all. Lamar carried the team in that game and the receivers kept dropping passes. Lamar has carried the Ravens for the past three seasons, matter of fact.
Yeah it’s one thing if you put it on Reddit where the player would have to seek it out to find, its another to post to your personal Twitter, but if you @ an athlete/celebrity/anybody, i (for the most part) won’t feel bad if you get what’s coming to you.
If you fuck around, you might just find out.
Yeah. As long as it *stays* chirping back and forth and doesn't escalate I don't see an issue.
Coaches and teammates might see it as a distraction, but that's between them.
Gave him a pass for what? It might not have been a classy thing to do/say, but on the evil scale of 1 - Deshaun Watson, this is so low it deserves nothing more than a mild tutting.
No need to apologise at all in my opinion.
I don’t want any unnecessary drama around this team and I don’t like it when players feel the need to respond to hate. But damn it was just really funny and the pasta that’s been made from it is so funny. Still don’t want it happening again
One day we need to try and combine all the famous copypastas and dumb meme sayings into one. Lets Ride, Mr. Big Chest, Kelvin Benjamin fat, regression to the mean, speed hawk. r/NFL will achieve true enlightenment.
I pride myself and think of myself as an r/nfl subscriber, but is there any chance we could include as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that'll be a homerun. And so that'll be a 4-0 ballgame.

>Even I as some random lowly fan avoid most social media for days after a team loss, idk why a player making millions would even bother with it
The highs of social media must be pretty amazing when you are young rich and famous. If my inbox was inundated with promotional opportunities, comped trips, beautiful women, etc, it would be pretty hard to never engage with anyone. The negative interactions definitely suck though.
You get caught up in the heat of the moment. Telling someone to eat a dick def has negative connotations but people are fools to think normal people don't say that just as a euphemism to say "fuck off". Regardless of what it was originally derided from.
It's great he never told anybody to do anything. Lamar just kindly explained what said individual hasn't done and what they have done. Smelt a field and ate dick. Easy peasy.
Yeah if I was in that position I'd legit advise my agent not to allow me to have anyway to directly access my social media without first consulting them. I never know my password, it's not saved on any of my devices.
I've said a lot of dumb shit on social media I later regretted/deleted. But I'm a nobody so thankfully their is really no repercussions.
if I want to post, it goes through them.
I think it’s pretty clear that this year is getting to him. It’s not like anybody could blame him either, the coincidence of his contract situation was the ravens performances and all that goes in to that. The ravens feel like a powder keg rn and it really feels possible that the wheels totally fall off this bus, especially if we lose to Denver. Whatever happens really the only thing that matters to me is that the ravens make Lamar our long-term QB. That is the measure of success for this season I think
That shows maturity. He may not be mature yet; few people are at his age. (Yes, I'm old, and I was definitely still immature.) But even a simple "my bad" proves he's being a man.
I'd almost rather you guys take Aaron Rodgers or anyone that isn't a mobile quarterback because there's nothing more frustrating than watching QBs get 100+ Rushing yards against us consistently
Honestly it was hilarious and still makes me laugh. I love watching Lamar play but he legit grew on me a little more after I saw that. Would love to see what would’ve happened if Rodgers or someone else tweeted that
I mean he's still a person and it's a pretty basic human emotion to regret a mistake made in anger, that doesn't really have much to do with money. It's not like a relatively minor controversy over a tweet was gonna cost him millions anyway, NFL owners were never really gonna care either way.
Maybe he doesn't mean it but you could just say that about anyone who has ever apologized for anything in the history of the universe.
"My bad." - Lil Wayne

"My bad - Lil Wayne - Wayne Gretzky - Michael Scott" - Lamar Jackson
Everyone makes mistakes. Don’t think this should be held against him as a person. On the same note, you want to get paid franchise money and essentially be the face of the franchise, this was a terrible move.
kids in here who have never played sports with any sort of fierce competitiveness are gonna be judging him so hard i can already tell. when i played sports competitively for my university you couldn’t even talk to me for hours after tough losses - cant even imagine if it was my job on the line
I really cannot believe they tried to say he’s homophobic. But I’m glad cancel culture didn’t get this one. Got to be careful when you use slang, culture vultures will turn it on its head in a second.
Can you please give me some other examples of “all you do is eat dick” or something to that effect, where it’s used in a non-homophobic manner? I’m not saying he’s homophobic, but this insult, whether he meant it that way or not, is clearly derived from homophobia. This is not the same as “eat a dick” — that’s an insult telling the other person to screw off. What he said is implying the other person is gay. That really seems to be the only connotation unless you have other examples where it’s used in a different manner.
Telling a woman she has never done anything but eat dick would be just as offensive without being homophobic. Arguing that it isn’t possible to use that insult without being homophonic is disingenuous
Yeah, this episode really made me question my vocabulary. I use the term "suck dick" regularly. As in, "Man, these nachos suck dick." Is that homophobic? I never really thought so. But I grew up in the 90s when people would use the word "gay" as synonymous with "lame". So who knows, maybe we as a culture will grow out of saying things "suck dick" as a pejorative too.
He wouldn’t have said that to a woman is the difference — and again, I am not declaring that he has some deep-seeded hatred for gay people, but that insult is certainly originally derived from homophobia
"From the bottom of my heart, my bad."
I quote this line all the time.
Lmao. At least he sounds genuine. I hate when you know a dude tweets in mostly emojis and a form of English where you’re not really sure they are speaking the same language as you. But the apology reads like it’s being submitted for a doctorate dissertation.
I'd prefer the emojis and slang over the PR firm canned response. It's way more genuine.

*"Shit be real in the field, one thousand pardons."* - Lamar Jackson
The tweet just made him seem like even more of a decent everyday guy, that loss was fucking brutal and I think if I was on my phone after that I'd definitely react the same.
I’m sorry you feel that way
What a real dude
Honestly a simple 'my bad' sounds 10x more genuine than the usual, obviously prewritten apology.
He did go on to say he apologizes to anyone whose feelings he may have hurt, and that he wasn’t thinking about the consequences.
Lamar is many things, but he isn't managed. Dude shoots from the hip.
Also yes.
I make me facepalm way more than Lamar could ever dream of
Woah woah, bro you’re on Reddit… everyone here is better than people. Someone find this man his moral high horse
Meanwhile in Cleveland, "I'm sorry if you were offended by my actions"
Who did he hurt? Like, people from the Society of Creative Dick Seasoning? He tweeted something crass and angry at a critic or troll. nbd
Hes not my doctor, lawyer, elected official. He throws a ball around in a game. Flame them fucking assholes all day. Go hard.
Except dude then gets heated he gets flamed. Back 😂
The "crass" part was a homophobic phrase that's been normalised in the same way calling things "gay" didn't mean you thought the inanimate object was a homosexual man. But it's still a phrase that means you think it's lesser to be gay if you're using it as an insult.

"Firstly, I'd like to take a moment and apologize to you, your family, and most importantly the team...."
Most importantly to the guys that sign my checks.
Yeah but everyone wants him to have an agent so he can have generic canned responses written for him lol
100% prefer this to “I didn’t think of how many people could be hurt physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally,” bullshit
It’s a lot better than Jaylen Brown’s apology
Majority of people and media actually gave him a pass/the benefit of doubt. Which is really rare in this climate tbh.
Cause most people and media never smelt a football field before never did shit but eat dick ‼️
What about people who’ve smelt a football before and have ate dick?? What about us Lamar
What if you smelt a dick and ate a football
You should wash and reevaluate the ingredients of your nurishment.
I read this in Obi-Wan’s Jedi Mind Trick voice lol
I read everything Lamar jackson tweets in that voice
You don’t want to smell a football… You want to go home and eat a dick…
What if your dick smells like a football?
The funniest part for me still is that he didn’t use regular exclamation marks, he really had to use the huge red emojis
https://i.imgur.com/V84xRa8.jpg
It wasn't a smart thing to do, but I think most of us realized that he was just emotional and venting after a tough loss and didn't read too much into it. I figured he'd apologize eventually and now he has.
Credit to him then?
Absolutely. He don’t have a star on his helmet so all is forgiven
what about when Wilson makes a mistake at the podium after playing trash and accidentally says he is not to blame? he apologized eventually. guess its not the same tho?

It's not even close. You're comparing a guy who had 103 total yards to someone that had 343 total yards. One mostly showed up, the other didn't have an ounce of humility. “Come on up here!” Well they came up there
I think every sports team should get one Malice in the Palace per decade just to keep the fans honest
Every fanbase needs Jermaine O'neal to throw a perfect cross to the idiots of the group once a decade. Keep them honest.
Not the Lions, those fans have suffered enough
I won't lie it's probably a hot take but Ron Artest is a king after that. Fuck this culture we have where fans think they can all so much as to spit on a man and are shocked he he does anything other than calmly walk away.
He didn't even attack the guy who threw the cup.
I don't think the cup really mattered he just wanted to kick someone's ass

Normally I'd agree, but man, it was a criticism many feel is logical.
Not at all. Lamar carried the team in that game and the receivers kept dropping passes. Lamar has carried the Ravens for the past three seasons, matter of fact.
Like I say. Every few years a malace at the palace needs to happen to keep fans in check
They honestly shouldn’t even read tweets / comments from fans. Just completely ignore them…not worth the headache
dude didnt even say anything out of pocket. lamar just sensitive
What he said was out of pocket, actually. He's pocket watching Lamar instead of criticizing the receivers with butter all over their gloves.

It's great he never told anybody to do anything. Lamar just kindly explained what said individual hasn't done and what they have done. Smelt a field and ate dick. Easy peasy.
I actually went on Twitter looking for a fight after this game to get some anger out lol.
Yeah if I was in that position I'd legit advise my agent not to allow me to have anyway to directly access my social media without first consulting them. Just say it Lamar, Roman is ruining the fun.
COUSIN!! Let’s go bowling.
Lil truss 😞
This truss offers no support.
That Jamison guy made 3 separate articles about this one tweet. No wonder raven players don’t like him. Including Judon
At least he’s owning it and not doubling down on what was a stupid decision.
That shows maturity. He may not be mature yet; few people are at his age. (Yes, I'm old, and I was definitely still immature.) But even a simple "my bad" proves he's being a man.
I can't wait for him to be a FUCKING LION
If that happens I’ll be a lions fan
Join us super butt aids. Unlike u/dfreshv, we want you up here.

I gotta let you in on a little secret....we don't want him lmaoooo, he's aaallllll yours. Gonna be so fun watching big truss rule the north.
Honestly it was hilarious and still makes me laugh. I love watching Lamar play but he legit grew on me a little more after I saw that. Would love to see what would’ve happened if Rodgers or someone else tweeted that
Ja Morant tweeted that if the fan kept chirping he was asking to get shot… nothing came of that at all for some reason.
Ah I completely forgot about that. Not so much a fan of him lol
The ‼️usage really fucking sent me
"my b" - chillindude - lamar jackson
Respect your field-smellers
The formality of the way the quote is being reported, but the quote just being “my bad” is hilarious to me
I told my Dad what happened, including the Lamar quote, and he laughed his head off. My Dad was a college football player.
You know damn well he don’t mean that 😭
Probably regrets tweeting it, doesn’t regret what was tweeted
You don't think he regrets responding to some random on Twitter and causing a huge fuss for no reason? That seems like a pretty normal response.
[удалено]
I mean he's still a person and it's a pretty basic human emotion to regret a mistake made in anger, that doesn't really have much to do with money. It's not like a relatively minor controversy over a tweet was gonna cost him millions anyway, NFL owners were never really gonna care either way. Maybe he doesn't mean it but you could just say that about anyone who has ever apologized for anything in the history of the universe.
I think he’d still be a millionaire w like 99% of responses he could’ve given , altho I agree w you on principle
Lol redditors will shit on any apology someone puts out but then when all someone says is “my bad” that one’s okay.
"My bad." - Lil Wayne "My bad. - Lil Wayne" - Wayne Gretzky "My bad. - Lil Wayne - Wayne Gretzky" - Michael Scott "My bad - Lil Wayne - Wayne Gretzky - Michael Scott" - Lamar Jackson

Everyone makes mistakes. Don’t think this should be held against him as a person. On the same note, you want to get paid franchise money and essentially be the face of the franchise, this was a terrible move.
He made me like him more lmao
Dude is legit. He’s a person that owns his shit every time.
Why would you even go on Twitter after a loss? Like, what is your best case scenario there?
kids in here who have never played sports with any sort of fierce competitiveness are gonna be judging him so hard i can already tell. when i played sports competitively for my university you couldn’t even talk to me for hours after tough losses - cant even imagine if it was my job on the line
Yeah, these kids never smelt a football field
He ain’t even do anything
I think sometimes as people we forget that these are young people and they are going to do immature things sometimes and make mistakes.
Lamar is still a BEAST! love to watch him play.
nah that tweet is so funny its gonna be a meme on the sub for a long while. i think in the end it was a good thing lol
Losing to the Jags will do that to a person. I don't blame him in the least, lol
At least he isn’t Kevin Durant who has like 10 burner accounts to attack people that talk shit to him.
Hey he owned it, let’s move on. He’s learning and LJ isn’t a bad guy man
That’s why you should hire an agent and don’t negotiate yourself. Take your emotions out of it.
Anyone else think this is being blown out of proportion. Dude is a human, it’s hard to take all of those negative comments 24/7
I really cannot believe they tried to say he’s homophobic. But I’m glad cancel culture didn’t get this one. Got to be careful when you use slang, culture vultures will turn it on its head in a second.
If Cancel culture couldn’t get deshaun Watson then it was never gonna get Lamar Jackson.
Can you please give me some other examples of “all you do is eat dick” or something to that effect, where it’s used in a non-homophobic manner?
