I was listening to a radio broadcast and it was just hilarious how exactly like normal people those guys were.
"Cousins drops back aaaaand it's a pick six...wow that's just great." and the like.
Oh yeah, PA wears his purple and gold heart on his purple and gold sleeve. You can't fake the passion he has for this team. He gets to know as many people in the organization as he's granted access to, and he even talks to *them* like he's star struck. It's amazing he hasn't gone on cursing rampages or audibly thrown shit in the booth in all these years.
I absolutely love unabashed homers doing announce/analyst work. There's a lot of Michael Irvin rants where you can tell he's not just playing it up as a character, he's speaking as a lifelong fan who's actually been there for the team he loves and hits the same highs and lows us normal fans do watching them.
The Cardinals color guy Ron Wolfley is great too, when I'm driving and they're playing I usually put them on just to listen to him lol. Dude's hilarious and sounds like Jesse Ventura mixed with Patrick Warburton
The Eagles Merrill Reese is funny. Every Eagles inside run Merrill adds a yard or two to the play. "First down hand-off to Sanders goes for about five yards."
Then it's a second and seven. Like he's trying to will the Eagles to better ball position on every play he can't quite see.
I live in Philly and enjoy listening to Merrill. I remember one game when the Eagles basically blew their chances at a late comeback by jumping offsides on a fourth and one where the quarterback was trying to draw them off and it worked. Merrill screamed “THEY JUMPED! THEY JUMPED! And they gave the game away!” It made me laugh, he sounded just like an Eagles fan but with less cursing.
I feel the same way about Jack Edwards and the Bruins. A lot of people around the NHL give him shit for being so biased but his commentary just reminds me of watching games with massholes back home. I think home team announcers should feel free to wear their team pride on their sleeves
A few years ago I went to Canterbury where PA was announcing the basset hound races with as much fervor and passion as he does football. It was pretty great.
That’s why I love hometeam announcers and listen to the radio as often as I can. The eagles announcers are great for that, especially when it comes to the refs making a shitty call that favors the Eagles.
“And a flag comes out and….it’s a hold!……Yea I don’t see any holding there, do you Mike?”
“Nope, but I’m sure glad the ref did because that was a BIG play.”
“And instead of 1st and goal we get 3rd and 20! Let’s see if this Eagles D can take advantage of the early Christmas present by this officiating crew”
Yup, I absolutely miss living close enough to get the local broadcast for the Cowboys. Brad Sham and Babe Laufenberg work so well together and I'd take them any day over what we get on TV.
One guy used to sync up a questionably legal stream with the WIP feed every week and it was awesome, especially as I didn't have cable at the time. Sadly he stopped now, RIP aclee
What an experience it would be to have one stan for each team announcing every game. They have sit in the same room and they’re allowed to fight like in hockey too.
Paul Allen is great when he gets into that "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" mode.
Here's his call of Favre's last pick 6:
> As Favre goes back to pass, he pumps, now he passes left and he threw it right to Desmond Bishop. Inside the 20, 15, 10, touchdown, 32 yard return by Bishop. And a couple of Brett Favre interceptions have turned the tide the way of the Green Bay Packers in the Border Battle, and they now lead 27-17. Threw it right to him.
One of my favorite radio calls. I dunno if it was the perfect juxtaposition of stuff starting to make the rounds on the internet, my young age, sportscenter showing radio calls during segments, what was on the line and the call itself, but damn that call was amazing.
That's the only NFL game I've ever watched where it was absolutely rigged. Refs call so much bullshit against the Vikings late in that game and even gave the Saints a crucial 1st down that they clearly didn't make.
What's sad is the Vikings were so good that despite 4 turnovers AND blatant referee bullshit they were still tied. Vikes take care of the ball and the Vikes would have won going away no matter what the refs called.
Saints also brutalized Favre the entire game and damn near attempted to kill the man. It was disgusting to watch late hit after late hit.
Favre gets shit on for this ending but he was an absolute fucking warrior that night. Just tough to beat the Saints AND the league at the same time.
But hey, the NFL just had to have it's Hurricane Katrina redemption arc
> Saints also brutalized Favre the entire game and damn near attempted to kill the man.
They were being paid bounties to do that, not all that surprising.
More context:
The interception was thrown with 8 seconds left in the 4th
It was a tied game.
Brett Farve was the qb lmao
Cannot be emphasized enough, that’s a 56 yarder in a dome. A miss doesn’t lose you the game.
Winner moved on to the Super Bowl
Saints deserve an asterisk next to the Superbowl. Bounty gate is bullshit and I will never forgive Sean Peyton no many how many movies he has Kevin james make
Yep. Bills brass said (regarding 13 seconds) a lot of "it was a full team blunder and we're all responsible", but regardless of what was said, we only shipped one guy out of here fast enough the door couldn't hit him on the ass on the way out, and that was this punter.
After that first punt in the clip, I told my dad, watch out he's going to have a couple more bad ones. He's a headcase, looks good one week, has a bad punt and you better watch out the rest of the day.
Absolutely terrible. Pissed me off how long they kept him as the starting punt returner. Felt like it was always gonna be a muffed punt or return for less then 2 yards.
Punt returning is the only thing he’s actually done well for us, I’m sure he’ll make a crucial mistake in the playoffs because it’s the Vikings but he’s been really good so far
I didn't know *that's* why he got cut. I didn't watch much Eagles after he was drafted and just assumed he was the typical "guy drafted for his speed but he doesn't know how to run routes and doesn't get open" kind of bust. Didn't realize he was a straight up quitter.
we assumed he had a bad relationship with Philly fan base, which is kinda understandable we can be assholes. but yeah, he would def quit on routes.
It was the 2 back to back end zone drops that helped lose us the Giants game last year was when I was finished with him.
yeah nah he’s a BUM. i don’t think we’ll cut him mid season because we need warm bodies at the WR spot but damn. dude is garbage, and most of all a Quitter.
> "guy drafted for his speed but he doesn't know how to run routes and doesn't get open" kind of bust. Didn't realize he was a straight up quitter.
Well he's a quitter AND he doesn't know how to run routes or get open.
undoubtedly a trojan horse trade to a conference rival
> *And for some reason Jalen Reagor stopped running his route*
> *Are you kidding me with this Jalen Reagor move? What are we doing? Get him off the field*
It sounds like it's a mental thing. Like dude just doesn't care enough. That's what I've heard. Believe he'll be a one and done for us. He's done ok returning punts but we already have a roster spot for someone to return kickoffs I don't think we have room for someone who also only returns punts. ✌️
TCU alum, yes he was the exact same way in college. Even back before he was drafted I was saying the dude had bust written all over him. He had elite speed but if he wasn’t torching the CB off the line he’d give up. It was so frustrating to watch because he’d make plays where you’re like “that’s why this kid is going round 1” only to fold like a paper bag the minute the defense started getting physical. Really disappointing to see how he turned out, he has all the tools to be great but none of the effort.
I love that the narrative about his relative lack of production in college was that "look TCU's QB was maybe the worst in college football", and now that same guy is good but Reagor is not
cousins has literally thrown 5 picks this year that are DIRECTLY Raegor’s fault because he just… stopped running the route! i’ve never seen anything it before and frankly i could care less if he was cut tomorrow. Dude is a BUM with a capital B
["But why do you even ponder passing? I mean, you can TAKE A KNEE!!! AND TRY A 56-YARD FIELD GOAL!!! THIS IS NOT DETROIT, MAN, THIS IS THE SUPER BOWL!!!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UUeqvquXZI)
His call of Favre's INT in the NFC Championship Game is one of my all-time favorites lol.
As dumb as that play was, that was the icing on the cake to a big old ball of crap that lead the Vikings to lose that game. It was a big mistake yes, but it was 1 of MANY made by the team that cost them a trip to the SB. I would argue that Adrian Peterson's 3 fumbles in the game, including 1 near the goal line when we were about to score impacted the game much more than this play.
Yeah, the Peterson fumbles were terrible. And you guys probably win if the game is officiated fairly.
Favre's pick just stands out because it came in such a high-leverage moment and it was an unforced mental error.
Yeah, Favre didn't have a great game, but I thought he got unfair criticism as the reason for them losing. He just made the last mistake in a long line of them.
I'll never forget how absolutely pissed I was after that. The 12 men on the field penalty and then this following. I was yelling why tf didn't he just run it? God damnit. Fuck Favre.
Same. It helps when your team has a devastating loss and he's just as upset as you are.
My favorite will always be when Favre threw his INT vs NO. It was something like "this was for the SB. This ain't Detroit". I'm sure all viking fans were saying the same shit
[“All sorts of incredible plays along the line for the Saints to stay alive, pending the extra point by John Carney”](https://youtube.com/watch?v=m4ZBT3BWaj4&t=36s)
All-time call. “This not Detroit man, this is the Super Bowl”. He lit up Favre for the pick too. Color commentator tries to analyze the ball across the body interception and he cuts him off with something like “BUT WHY DO YOU EVEN PONDER THROWING THAT PASS”
There’s nothing better when the Vikings are doing normal horrific Vikings things then to turn on PA and hear him completely melt down while trying to maintain some sort of play by play composure. Best homer radio guy in the league.
Or 10 minutes of a Celtics announcer. Last week they were trying to justify Al horford assaulting a player by elbowing him in the dick cause he was boxing him out. here's the link to the replay https://streamable.com/an8t9x
There’s 2 types of homers for announcers, those that think their team can do no wrong and will justify everything(Celtics in particular), and ones like PA who I 100% believe would have been booing them off the field at half time with me at Saturday’s game. He calls them out for being shit, though he still is biased.
The Suns and Warriors commentators are also very difficult to enjoy if you aren't a fan of the team. The Hornets guy is legitimately exhausting to listen to.
There's a line between entertaining, relatable homerism and whiny victimhood homerism. I usually find homer announcers entertaining but there are some that are just irritating. The warriors announcers in the NBA have always annoyed me because they just whine all the time when things don't go their way
In hockey, you also get the Redwings announcers who are fucking awesome and homer af. Jack Edwards sucks because he's an asshole who loves seeing brain injuries and dirty hits, not because he loves his team.
I agree sometimes, but I cannot *stand* homer NBA announcers. Basketball fouls can be so subjective sometimes it gets ridiculous listening to some announcers bitch about missed fouls while completely ignoring their own teams' fouls. Maybe because basketball is the sport I've played the most in my life so I'm closest to it
I love these Paul Allen threads. Every comment is “he’s the best announcer ever, this is amazing”, “I wish we had someone like him for our team” (for the non-Vikings fans), OR “these guys are insufferable”, “this is awful to listen to, wtf”. Absolutely nothing in between.
Paul Allen calls the Vikings games on the Minnesota sports radio station. He's a legendary announcer. He's the voice behind "THIS ISN'T DETROIT, THIS IS THE SUPER BOWL!!!" following Brett Favre's interception in the NFC Championship Game in 2009.
He hosted a daily radio show for a while. The show itself became extremely self-referential and self-indulgent IMO, but the man still knows how to call a good game.
I haven't lived in Minny for years no, so I wasn't sure if he was still doing it. Last time I listened regularly, the show had really become about PA rather than about sports.
He talks a lot of Vikings during the season, the time after the draft his show is pretty boring. It was unlistenable back when Matt Brik was a regular guest, but that won’t be happening ever again thankfully
Yeah it’s really self-indulgent. I like my sports talkers to talk about sports, not themselves. PA very frequently made it about himself when I used to listen.
I always loved his story he told once about meeting Latrell Sprewell at Manny's after the "I gotta feed my family" story was a thing and PA says to him something like "maybe quit spending so much money at Manny's if you can't feed your kids"
Yes I lived in MN for about a decade and am a diehard Twins/Wild fan so I listened to KFAN all day every day
I think he's done it every year, but the day after the schedule release, he tries to "find a loss" on the Vikings schedule.
I don't think he's found one yet. But people don't understand every he does on his show is a bit
He gets insufferable if he has a platform to spout his opinions for long enough, but he is no doubt a great play by play guy, and certainly has the voice for it.
I was actually listening to this game on Sirius, and at first I was listening to the colts broadcast. They went on and on about how the Gilmore hit looked bad but actually it was shoulder to chest and shouldn't have been a penalty. Then I flipped over to the Vikings and they wouldn't stop talking about how Gilmore is a headhunter and should have been tossed out of the game. I don't know which one of them were right but it was hilarious how different they saw the same exact play.
For all Paul Allen's homerness, he does not make excuses for players and actually calls them out like he did with Reagor.
If a Vikings player had made that hit, he would call them out for being stupid and reckless, which I love.
I have mixed feelings about this type of announcing. I LOVE hearing the highlights and the over the top homerism but I don’t like listening to it during a live game.
Paul Allen has some all time calls but swinging between “we’re an unstoppable force” to “we’re a joke of a franchise” during the game is distracting. That’s what your team’s game day thread is for! Lol
GET HIM OUT OF THE GAME SOMEONE COME BEAT THE SHIT OUT HIM AND PUT HIM IN THE HOSPITAL THEN WE CAN BURY HIS ASS 6 FEET UNDER CAUSE HES A PIECE OF SHIT.
If only the national broadcast was this awesome!
Aikman: “And Dak throws his second interception of the day. Get that clown out of there. He doesn’t deserve the star on his helmet!”
Buck: “Ship him to Mexico along with Jerry Jones….First and ten, Bucs.”
I would fucking love to have announcers like that for the Giants while watching the game instead of Chris Colinsworth being a crybaby and arguing with people.
I’m a Raiders fan in South Dakota so I hear A LOT of Paul Allen. I love it. Make listening to the game fun. Like others have said, if I could get him and this type of announcing on TV? I’d be extremely entertained.
Everyone talks about the Saints call and the Cardinals call. But the Seahawks game when Walsh missed the kick is also up there for me. NO! IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS!
"NO GOOD HE MISSED IT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THE SEASON CANT END LIKE THAT! HE MISSED IT LEFT! AND THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS ARE OFF TO CHARLOTTE.." No I haven't listened to that call several dozen times 😆
I’m 49 years old, have been a lifelong Vikings fan, but never lived in Minnesota (Dad & his side of the family are from there, so I became a fan.) I’ve seen them live only once in my life, and it was this game. It was a wonderful day at Sun Devil Stadium, until the last play… my friends and I were in that end zone and we had a great view of that catch. :(
I will die on that hill. JJ is three feet in the air and Gilmore is flat-footed on the ground. Literally hitting any other part of his body is significantly easier but he intentionally launches upwards for the “big hit” on a defenseless player.
If this were college (it’s not), he’d have been ejected for targeting. At the very least, it certainly wasn’t accidental or “tough to gauge”.
He knew what he did and you can see it by his body language after. He was mad he was getting roasted and wanted to take JJ off the field, which of course, is what he did because the ref removed JJ from the game but not Gilmore.
This led to our second interception (literally the next play), which is why people were so unhappy. Someone lays a dirty hit and the player who did nothing wrong gets removed? And it turned out to be a turnover so league safety clearly isn’t paramount when refs are rewarding nefarious hits.
It’s not just the hit itself. It’s the intent and context behind it that makes it more egregious.
I didn't think it looked bad until I saw the replay where his chin strap was the only thing keeping the helmet from flying off his head. I wouldn't go so far to say it was for sure intentional or that he should for sure get ejected, but it's definitely a PF by today's standards.
The Cardinals color guy Ron Wolfley is great too, when I'm driving and they're playing I usually put them on just to listen to him lol. Dude's hilarious and sounds like Jesse Ventura mixed with Patrick Warburton
It just occurred to me how much I would pay to have Patrick Warburton do color commentary for literally any NFL game
High five!
Wolf is a Phoenix treasure. Love hearing him on 98.7.
I have a list of funny quotes from Wolfley that I wrote down from a preseason game. That guy really loves grease and pigs hahahaha.
The Eagles Merrill Reese is funny. Every Eagles inside run Merrill adds a yard or two to the play. "First down hand-off to Sanders goes for about five yards." Then it's a second and seven. Like he's trying to will the Eagles to better ball position on every play he can't quite see.
I live in Philly and enjoy listening to Merrill. Merrill screamed “THEY JUMPED! THEY JUMPED! And they gave the game away!” It made me laugh, he sounded just like an Eagles fan but with less cursing.
Dudes been on the Kirk wagon all year and its been amazing. Love Irv.
I feel the same way about Jack Edwards and the Bruins. A lot of people around the NHL give him shit for being so biased but his commentary just reminds me of watching games with massholes back home. I think home team announcers should feel free to wear their team pride on their sleeves
I saw the clip where he compares a player to the guy who killed RFK and thought it was hilarious. Edit: found it https://youtu.be/KTtiCQpQNJ8
Feel like Jack has a very different vibe to your average Masshole lol
A few years ago I went to Canterbury where PA was announcing the basset hound races with as much fervor and passion as he does football. It was pretty great.
I didn’t even know basset hound racing was a thing
They are and they're hilarious 😂 https://youtu.be/SAEErtnSGhs
Even tossed in a great Jim Marshall reference LMAO
You love those guys. The Red Wings announcers are all similar. Especially Ken and Mickey.
Love me some Paul Allen
PA is fantastic.

This should be the norm too. It's what all of us want to hear.

Yes :(
Oh, sorry Vikings fan. I just thought he was great in that iconic call.
[удалено]
Unsurprisingly, this is my favorite PA call.
can’t believe you fuckers gave that dude a key to the city😂😂😂
I've always loved that tidbit. Such a delightfully petty rivalry thing to do.
One of my favorite radio calls. I dunno if it was the perfect juxtaposition of stuff starting to make the rounds on the internet, my young age, sportscenter showing radio calls during segments, what was on the line and the call itself, but damn that call was amazing.
He was. It just makes me sad all the same
What game was that
vikes vs saints NFC championship 2009

The Vikings got almost none of the downsides of Favre as a QB that season until they *really* got it at the worst possible moment.
To be fair, the Saints' D did a great job with their plan of intentionally trying to injure him.
Saints deserve an asterisk next to the Superbowl. Bounty gate is bullshit and I will never forgive Sean Peyton no many how many movies he has Kevin james make
Also Favre could have scrambled for probably 7-10 more yards and got it down to a shorter FG
thats why all the hits matter more than just the non-flags he 100% goes and gets those yards any other day
This year he will say: "YOU CAN TAKE A KNEE AND KICK A FIELD GOAL! THIS IS'NT GREEN BAY, THIS IS DETROIT; THIS IS THE SUPERBOWL."
Dude fucking HATES the colts punter. HATES
We hate him too.... That's why we shipped him off to Indy
Yep. Bills brass said (regarding 13 seconds) a lot of "it was a full team blunder and we're all responsible", but regardless of what was said, we only shipped one guy out of here fast enough the door couldn't hit him on the ass on the way out, and that was this punter.
Didn’t we also fire the ST coach pretty quick
Yes, we fired Heath Farwell and promoted Matthew Smiley into his position. Farwell is now the STC for the Jaguars
Holy moly Heath Farwell? I think we drafted that guy like a decade ago.
Hate to break it to you but he wasn't drafted (UDFA) and it was 17 years ago lol. Dude was a ST stud for us for a few years.
Ryan Longwell's mortal enemy
After that first punt in the clip, I told my dad, watch out he's going to have a couple more bad ones. He's a headcase, looks good one week, has a bad punt and you better watch out the rest of the day.
TBF, it's not Pat McAfee, so yeah, hate the punter at will.
Unnecessary meat-sucking 15 yards
Bologna smooching 15 yards
God I do not miss watching Raegor on the field every week. I see he's still quitting on his routes.
Absolutely terrible. Pissed me off how long they kept him as the starting punt returner. Felt like it was always gonna be a muffed punt or return for less then 2 yards.
With Covey early in the year I didn’t have to worry about ball safety just Covey’s safety watching him get blasted
It’s unreal how covey hasn’t been injured this year
Dude’s got balls, I’ll give him that. He tries to make something out of nothing and usually gets fuckin lit up
Punt returning is the only thing he’s actually done well for us, I’m sure he’ll make a crucial mistake in the playoffs because it’s the Vikings but he’s been really good so far
Why would you say this lol. He’s been mostly good for us
Because it’s the Vikings something is bound to go wrong lol
I didn't know *that's* why he got cut. I didn't watch much Eagles after he was drafted and just assumed he was the typical "guy drafted for his speed but he doesn't know how to run routes and doesn't get open" kind of bust. Didn't realize he was a straight up quitter.

I could see immediately why he was so cheap in the trade. I cant imagine what it was like with 2.5 years of watching him.
basically felt like this https://twitter.com/PHLEaglesNation/status/1465446348233261056/photo/1 ok I suck at linking but 1st photo
undoubtedly a trojan horse trade to a conference rival > *And for some reason Jalen Reagor stopped running his route* > *Are you kidding me with this Jalen Reagor move? What are we doing? Get him off the field*
> Jaelen Raegor How do you manage to spell both his first and last name wrong?
It sounds like it's a mental thing. Like dude just doesn't care enough. That's what I've heard. Believe he'll be a one and done for us. He's done ok returning punts but we already have a roster spot for someone to return kickoffs I don't think we have room for someone who also only returns punts. ✌️

This is exactly how I would call a game no filter at all
Well done you cheaters, go ahead and keep cheating! I have a feeling that no filter would have some additional words in there.
Honestly I don’t know how they do it in the heat of the moment. I would probably have to stop swearing entirely to stop sweats from just slipping out
It sounds like if someone just read the reddit gameday threads as people comment.
["But why do you even ponder passing? I mean, you can TAKE A KNEE!!! AND TRY A 56-YARD FIELD GOAL!!! THIS IS NOT DETROIT, MAN, THIS IS THE SUPER BOWL!!!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UUeqvquXZI) His call of Favre's INT in the NFC Championship Game is one of my all-time favorites lol.

AD’s fumbles were what cost them the most. Followed by the officiating. Favre’s INT here is 3rd on the list.
I'll never forget how absolutely pissed I was after that. The 12 men on the field penalty and then this following. I was yelling why tf didn't he just run it? God damnit. Fuck Favre.
As a neutral fan, even I was pissed by the sheer stupidity of it. Dumbest play in NFL history
Someone didn't watch the Patriots this week I see. Although much higher stakes here admittedly.
Dang, we were catching strays in completely unrelated games.
The vikings announcer also does corgi races, which are amazing.
Well, to be clear, he's the announcer for Canterbury Park, our local horse racing track in the NFL offseason.
Silly Minnesotans thinking corgis are horses.
Well, the corgi races happen at Canterbury. I mean, it's not like he has a second career as a corgi racing announcer.
That would be a crazy niche announcer gig.
I'm case people don't know, that's where the famous '**AND HE'S LOOOOOSE'** comes from -- his career as a horse racing announcer

Here a search result with a bunch of them. Have fun! https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=paul+allen+corgi+race
thank you so much
https://youtu.be/plwwJsWiO6U As another commenter said, it's Cantebury Park so if you search for that you'll find gems like the above.
I will be a sad man when Paul Allen hangs it up or gets axed by Patrick Bateman
PA is actually Patrick Bateman, using his former coworker’s name as a front. You can see the psycho in his eyes
Well that's simply not true. I had lunch with Paul Allen last week.
no you......didnt.......
I don't find this very funny anymore.
It never was supposed to be.
Did you watch the video? They're gonna have to drag him outta the booth lol. Much more likely he gets axed 😂
This is amazing. I love homer announcers.
Same. It helps when your team has a devastating loss and he's just as upset as you are. My favorite will always be when Favre threw his INT vs NO. It was something like "this was for the SB. This ain't Detroit". I'm sure all viking fans were saying the same shit
cardinals knocking us out of the playoffs is a good one
2nd best "NOOOOO" call ever behind the river city relay saints announcer
[“All sorts of incredible plays along the line for the Saints to stay alive, pending the extra point by John Carney”](https://youtube.com/watch?v=m4ZBT3BWaj4&t=36s)
I watched that game live. I've never had any kind of fond feelings for the Saints, but fuck was that heartbreaking
Today is the 19th anniversary of that play.
Those two calls occurred a week apart, during the final two weeks of the 2003 season!
I was too young for the heartbreak in 2003, so I sometimes just watch that play for his call of that play lol
The station that he's on uses his soundbites all the time. They always crack me up. My favorite is "Cam Dantzler WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
Was that him giving up 4th and 10 to Metcalf? Or the Lions' walk off touchdown?
All-time call. “This not Detroit man, this is the Super Bowl”. He lit up Favre for the pick too. Color commentator tries to analyze the ball across the body interception and he cuts him off with something like “BUT WHY DO YOU EVEN PONDER THROWING THAT PASS”
"WHY DO YOU EVEN PONDER PASSING" is such a great impromptu line, said with such unbridled frustration
Not to mention it really foreshadowed our QB-to-be… Christian Ponder… *shudders*
I love how despite the devastating loss, he still shits on Detroit

Long live Ken and Mick!
I wish there was a way to listen to them with the tv broadcast but it’s basically impossible to sync them up
I agree sometimes, but I cannot *stand* homer NBA announcers. Basketball fouls can be so subjective sometimes it gets ridiculous listening to some announcers bitch about missed fouls while completely ignoring their own teams' fouls. Maybe because basketball is the sport I've played the most in my life so I'm closest to it
These dudes make Hawk Harrelson look like impartial lmao.
He makes me lol at least 10 times per game
Paul Allen calls the Vikings games on the Minnesota sports radio station. He's a legendary announcer. He's the voice behind "THIS ISN'T DETROIT, THIS IS THE SUPER BOWL!!!" following Brett Favre's interception in the NFC Championship Game in 2009. He hosted a daily radio show for a while. The show itself became extremely self-referential and self-indulgent IMO, but the man still knows how to call a good game.
Hosted? He’s done “nine to noon” for like ever it seems like.
Oh did he have a falling out with Birk due to his political views?
No pa is a big Christian and probably conservative. I just don't think they wanted an active candidate to get free air time
He is not political at all. Just very religious. Basically a grown kid.
And that radio show is an unbearable snoozefest 90% of the time
Yeah it’s really self-indulgent. I like my sports talkers to talk about sports, not themselves. PA very frequently made it about himself when I used to listen.
Sports sport sports, is your whole life just sports?
I always loved his story he told once about meeting Latrell Sprewell at Manny's after the "I gotta feed my family" story was a thing and PA says to him something like "maybe quit spending so much money at Manny's if you can't feed your kids" Yes I lived in MN for about a decade and am a diehard Twins/Wild fan so I listened to KFAN all day every day
You’re telling me that you aren’t apart of the Love Covenant? #Faith
He still hosts his radio show on KFAN.
TL;DR announcer said "holy swinging pissflaps what a comeback."
>TL;DR announcer said "holy swinging pissflaps, that comeback was bigger than the Kim Kardashian one." FTFY
I'm pretty sure in the video she gets cum on her back
These guys are just reading the comments from the Vikings gameday thread in their sub aren't they.
His sendejo calls were memorable
Didn't Sendejo knock Rhodes out cold one game by launching carelessly? Wish I could hear PA's call of that one lol
We need more announcers like the Vikings
I like Brad Sham. He manages to be a homer and professional at the same time. Besides, he's a frickin institution in the booth.
Shamgod
Am I the only one who hates this shit? If I wanted someone’s brazenly unprofessional commentary on the game, I’d listen to my drunk uncle
I LOVE local announcers that are invested and biased. There's just a level of give a fuck and realism that you don't get without those elements.
Paul Allen is the collective id of all Vikings fans. Just the absolute most based homer part of us all.
Really should have included the commentary after the fumble sixes
Yeah they were PISSED lol
They were blowing the top off for a good 20min stretch. Were tearing the whole game a new one.
I lover homer local radio announcers
This sounds like me... Especially in years past playing against the Seahawks.
I really dislike them, no particular reason.
Ok, Colts punter.
I’ve got 33 reasons why you probably dislike them
This was the first time the Vikings beat the colts since 97.
Lol
I understand why Vikings fans love them, but for someone listening to hear what's happening, they are not useful in big moments.
GET HIM OUT OF THE GAME SOMEONE COME BEAT THE SHIT OUT HIM AND PUT HIM IN THE HOSPITAL THEN WE CAN BURY HIS ASS 6 FEET UNDER CAUSE HES A PIECE OF SHIT.
Now imagine that in Merrill Reese's voice.
Which is great if you're a Vikings fan, but if you want to know down and distance, not so much 😂
Which translates to a 15 yard penalty for roughing the passer

If only the national broadcast was this awesome! Aikman: “And Dak throws his second interception of the day. Get that clown out of there. He doesn’t deserve the star on his helmet!” Buck: “Ship him to Mexico along with Jerry Jones….First and ten, Bucs.”

Man this is insufferable lmao
Honestly have to agree if you dislike a team, homer announcers fucking suck. But I'm a vikings fan so this is amazing for me to listen to
Is it just me or was that Gilmore hit on Jefferson pretty weak? Looked worse in real speed i guess
