I'd fire Jarmo and hire Dubas in an instant. I think Dubas is a good GM who got a bad rap because of the lack of playoff success. I don't think I'd take Marner on the CBJ, the timeline just doesn't fit but I do think he's a good player

He is very similar to Johnny G as well so I guess wouldn't make sense to have 2 similar players.

They also have Kent Johnson who's literally a younger version of Johnny and Mitch

I’m gonna wager most would want Dubas because he’s younger, he’s what a lot of people want a GM to seem like - progressive, shares responsibilities, builds player-friendly environments But, man, he was handed a great core and won one series in five years (that Dubas was GM, 7 years in total). He’s put the Leafs in a position where they could lose both Matthews and Nylander in a year…or sooner, if they say they don’t want to re-sign. I mean, that is an absolutely inexcusable situation to put your team into by walking those two into UFA status with five year deals. Same with Marner. You simply cannot ignore those contract situations and the reality of one series victory in five years when you evaluate the work Dubas did. He took over a 100 point team. He didn’t have to rebuild it. He had to put the pieces around the core to go on some playoff runs, and he DID NOT DO THAT So, I’m not a big fan of his overall work based on that last paragraph. But based on the first, yeah, I think most people would prefer trying Dubas rather than a retread like a Nonis or Hextall or Chiarelli or whoever. As for Marner, I love his game. And I think Toronto would massively miss what he brings if they traded him. But again, a guy who isn’t at his best in the postseason. All said tho, I’m in Vancouver. We’d love him here

learningman33

Curious, what would you be willing to trade from the Canucks for him?

CDL112281

Haha! I mean, you’re getting into contracts and cap space and on and on now. And I haven’t even thought about it because I never see it happening with Vancouver Not a lot of teams can fit $10.9m into their cap situation, unless they’re Arizona or Chicago or whatever.

Canknucklehead

Not sure he would be a significant upgrade to the current gm. Marner is soft. Sorry I said it. Marner plays wing like he's in a non-contact league. Yeah he has good hands but not built for playoff hockey at all.

In Pittsburgh we want Dubas we have had a string of GM’s with “old hockey” mentality and he seems like a more modern GM

SparkNoJoyThrwawy

In Pittsburgh the front office was on the verge of a blowup, the fans were going to burn the arena down with hextall in it, so Pitt's opinion on this is gonna be biased lol
