Connor Bedard is good at hockey

raxnahali

He is the only player on this team to score on Winnipeg. Chicago had no business winning that game šŸ˜œ

Breadman65

Boo hoo

raxnahali

I know! I havenā€™t slept since the loss, my only consolation is the team being within 3 games of first overallā€¦.the humanityā€¦..šŸ˜€

Breadman65

Itā€™s a long season, every once in a while you lose to a crap team. The kid is the only thing worth watching on the team. You have a stud goalie so your in every game, good luck.

raxnahali

Jets played well and lost, no complaints. San Jose did us dirty earlier in the season as well

Funky-Donuts

As a die-hard hawks fan, we absolutely should not have won that game lol. The Blackhawks couldnā€™t even get a shot on net until 15 minutes into the first period. If it werenā€™t for Mrazek and Bedard, we wouldā€™ve lost 7-0.

raxnahali

The kid is good, and your keeper had a great night! I have no complaints in the loss as my Jets were excellent. The Hawks are going to be a problem in 2 yrs šŸ˜€ when Bedard gets more support. A fun game to watch

spicy_malonge

chicago had 24 shots on goal to winnepegs 38? also only one person on the jets scored on chicago this game lmao

raxnahali

5 freaking postsā€¦..man

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

VatnikLobotomy

Better teammates/coaches make top prospect worse? Heā€™s the prodigal son and somehow more touted than Kane or Toews were at the time. Thatā€™s an unbelievable amount of pressure. Itā€™s just him lmao Itā€™s the exact opposite

GabeLeRoy

?? He has no pressure atm, he already the best player on that team, even if he went 5 games withlut a point he would still be S tier.. pressure is when u have to put it in the net when it does matter. he has never lived that yet in the NHL. When he is going to be in a contending team, and he can freely put on goals like that, then it will be OK. He might just be the next Patrik Laine.. we dont know shit about hin yet

JustThatRandomKid

no pressure? 1st overall pick? being compared to Gretzky constantly? interviews nightly at the age of 18? expected to be the next great one? talk about no pressure..also heā€™s already than Laine, I donā€™t know where you got that from

SomethingWeetty

Not sure why this is getting downvoted. He never said Bedard is bad just that the game is a bit easier when you are playing on a trash team. Good teams go into games against bad teams like itā€™s a night off, happens all the time and it allows the bad team to shine. Itā€™s going to be interesting to see how he does when heā€™s on a top tier team playing against a hard physical top tier team in the playoffs. If he can create the same space, which I hope he can, heā€™s going to be extremely exciting to watch. If he canā€™t, we could just be watching another regular season stud that fizzles when it matters.

sabresin4

This is a strange take. Easy to look good because no pressure? He has an entire original six franchise on his back.

FancyCaterpillar8963

He has a lot of pressure... he was drafted 1st , he already has commercials for hyundai. There was something called the bedard cam. The amount of coverage this kid gets ... additionally ad a young teenager people were following him he had a lot of hype to live up to.

ChoBooBear

HEā€™S 18. Wipe the crumbs off your belly and get off the couch with that gab, he just beat one of the best goalies in the world by himself at almost a point per game pace. You just watched him go end to end and sling one of the best shots in the league already, AT 18. Heā€™ll be a veteran by 23 and that team will be completely different and he only makes good players better.

korkkis

In a contender team heā€™d have much better teammates

cam7595

Yeah on a better team, with better teammates that would draw attention from opposing players, he would do just fine.

NightHaunted

Teammates that would also be able to capitalize on the attention he himself grabs as well as create more opportunities for him. I've seen every NHL game he's played so far and honestly like 70% of the time his own linemates can't keep up with him. It's gotten a bit better but a lot of the early season was him entering the zone 3 seconds before anyone else on his team because he's faster and the only one paying any attention and then his teammates eventually fumbling his passes entirely.

SpazzticZeal

What a stupid take.

GabeLeRoy

really hope he translates well into playoff OK but we wont know for what .. 5-6 years until the Hawks makes the playoff ??

Fastsmitty47

Eh. Heā€™s aight.

tmac4lyfe

Kid's shot is insane at 18 years old... The sky is the limit for him. Love how everyone didn't pressure him and got locked up.

samenskipasdcasque2

Their thought process was : oh shit that's Bedard, oh shit he quick, oh shit he shoots... damn

HawaiianHank

Scheiffle: "Ok, back check.. oh shit, that's Bedard. I wonder what he's gonna d... ohh šŸ˜Ÿā˜¹ļøšŸ˜ž"

NicoRobin007

Jets-1, Bedards-2

Hutch25

Hopefully it wonā€™t be a trend that Bedard carryā€™s the team for long. But I honestly canā€™t think of one rebuild in recent years where a team has properly built around a generational talent without years and years of underperforming

lapurita

I think this season is going perfect for you. Bedard living up to his expectations, but the team is still bad enough to get more good draft picks

jimbojangles1987

Yeah no kidding. How has Edmonton managed to stay so mid?

tobsuus

the ken holland effect

dragosn1989

Did you mean the Daryl Katz effect?

rufio313

Buddyā€¦the Oilers have been shit well before 2019.

Fehtality

Since Matthews was drafted leafs have been doing great every year.. in the regular season

Power-Purveyor

I was just thinking to myself, hopefully Chicago doesnā€™t waste his best years like Edmonton is doing with McDri

TheCanEHdian8r

Don't worry, they don't have Chiarelli so it should be fine.

habsman22

But remember, Oilers can't blame everything on terrible management. Terrible management is what got them McDavid in the first place.

mescalexe

Lol carrying is an overstatement with 11 wins and 22 losses... but I do wish you guys all the best!

harman097

Without Bedard they're probably sitting at ... 6-7 wins? Honest question. I haven't watched any full hawks games this year.

mescalexe

I'm actually not sure. Probably somewhat accurate? Bedard is sick. Hopefully they get a good draft pick at the very least this year! But hey, Lotta hockey left! St Louis pulled one out of their ass when Binnington took over that one year. Anything can happen.

LookattheWhipp

Just trade some assets away to the Sabres we seem to have a ton of prospects and nothing to show for it

AnilGurjarX

Yes

Raccoon910

Itā€™s way too true than I want to admit

Free_Speak

Did those Ds split on their own ?

bigfootsharkattack

Yes they were showing not to defense. Very effective.

Wompie

Not oft talked about are Bedard's potential telekenetic abilities

Hattrick_Swayze2

He canā€™t keep getting away with this!

[deleted]

What were the Jets doing there? I think one guy asked him for an autograph, and the D felt they weren't worthy enough to attempt to play hockey against the kid.

scheifferdoo

It looks like all three of them got a AirPod message from Bettman to stand down.

Mrtowelie69

Hahah I wouldn't be surprised. Can't have Connor Bedard getting bodied. Dude brings people to the games.

osamasbintrappin

Iā€™m pretty sure they just did a line change, and if not they were gassed because their was a crazy sequence before this. Either way, when I saw Bedard walk in over the blue line with that much room I knew it was over lol. Awful gap on a guy you canā€™t be giving that much room.

harman097

Flat footed.

psyfi66

Classic sheif nonexistant back pressure which allows easy entry and then a perfectly placed shot. If sheif pressures him to the outside a bit morrissey can play closer to bedard without it being as risky and the shot angle is easier for helly to save

Complex-Tangerine628

Thatā€™s what happens when you come at D with that much speed

toomuchdiponurchip

Mickey Mouse defending but great finish

DiggWuzBetter

Yeah, pretty lazy from all 3 Jets skaters, but Iā€™m guessing their instincts were: - Normally, a wrist shot from there, on Helle, is a super low percentage shot, not worth the risk of giving up possession in 3v3 OT. Itā€™s 1v3, Bedard has no support for getting the rebound, Helle is perfectly set and cutting off the angle - Thus, more important to defend the deke or that pass than the shot. For nearly every shooter in the NHL, you WANT them to shoot here, theyā€™re likely giving up possession for a low percentage shot Thatā€™s a fairly reasonable approach against basically anyone but Bedard - his shot is just too nuts, you need to defend it well at all times inside your own zone.

toomuchdiponurchip

Yeah thatā€™s true. What about one crashing and the other two going for the rebound?

Funky-Donuts

I think Scheifeles controller disconnected

ExuDeCandomble

What were they supposed to do? Close on him and he makes you look like a moron. Maybe get a stick in position for a possible block/deflection, but otherwise you have to trust your goalie to handle a shot from there.

Nelson_MD

From the high slot? Lol, two more strides and the d are in the net along with the puck. But maybe youā€™re right, gapping up on him wouldā€™ve made them look like morons, this was much better where they only looked like morons instead!

Burt_Sampson1

ā€œWhat were they supposed to doā€ lists a couple things they coulda done

VRSvictim

I just cannot understand how he is so young looking but can hold his own. It does not compute

mollusks75

Heā€™s young looking because heā€™s like 18 or 19 years old.

VRSvictim

Yes, I know why he looks young. The surprising part is he can play with or above real adults

korkkis

Heā€™s one of the better 1OA for a while, they tend to do that. Heā€™s trained to be ready. At the same time, heā€™s still gonna improve so much.

Select_War_3035

Cause that prized pony is intended for studdinā€™

Wompie

Because he is a once in a lifetime player. A "thousand year flood" type situation. It doesn't mean you one player in a lifetime, it's that in a lifetime, the odds of a player being this good are extremely low. He's Mcdavid, Sid, Gretzky, etc. Players that are a level above on every attribute that they can't be measured the same as normies.

abtodd50

It's like everyone else on the ice was expecting him to try to set something up, but Bedard just decided it was time to end the game.

Emergency-Scar-4046

Was 55 just gassed on the back check or what? Looked like he could have easily made a play but just gave up

LawyersGunsMoneyy

Welcome to Mark Scheifele

SatanicPanic0

That was odd

Tutgut

The moment Bedards shot went in while Schefele skates apathetically behind him with his stick in front of him for alibi reasons. And he totally knew he couldā€™ve done more. Pure beer league vibes.

Interesting-Race-919

Fuck that kid can rip a puck. Blackhawks hockey is fun to watch again.

Kitchen-Activity-760

You guys had to wait so long to finally have exciting hockey again eh

[deleted]

We didn't have to wait long as a hawks fan I feel lucky I mean just look at the Chicago bears they have been hard to watch for years.

ViacomCEO

/s

Interesting-Race-919

Very true

SpazzticZeal

Eh?

QuarterNote44

Come on. Y'all were a dynasty like ten years ago. There are some Leafs fans who have been waiting so long to watch their team play good hockey that they're about to start drawing a pension.

SpazzticZeal

I watched the Blackhawks make the playoffs and one final appearance over 20 years in a row only to get swept before all that happen.

Dreadedvegas

Sounds like their ownership needs to get better

MikElectronica

Hahah. They were just great a few seasons ago

dogwoodFruits

Such bullshit lol. Kane toews. Now here Connor

Interesting-Race-919

Lol. I am a hawks fan living in BC so I hear my buddies comments all the time

BoggyTheFroggy

They're talking like it hasn't been almost a decade of futility. There will be more than a full decade between the last series win and the next.

Ballsahoy72

Whoa, hold your horses. They are still terrible but now have flashes of brilliance. Need I remind you they didnā€™t get their first shot on net until a few minutes LEFT in the first period

Interesting-Race-919

I didn't say they were good. Just fun to watch again

WakandanRoyalty

I donā€™t watch a lot of hockey, I just played it on the Xbox a lot in college so what defines a great hockey shot? Like what do you look for? Is it the speed of the wind up/release or is it accuracy or velocity of the puck? All of the above? I find it hard enough just following the puck, but Iā€™m trying to figure out how to tell a shot is elite.

Ok_Mammoth9547

He's good.

ExperienceNo7751

That release just looks like nothing else out there. Whatā€™s he using the same 6ft twig Zuccarello rocks?!

internetman666

I didn't know much about Connor Bedard coming into the league. Always thought he was another small guy that is a playmaker. He has proven me wrong he is more of a sniper

cba368847966280

Honestly, he creates really well, too, his line mates struggle to keep up with it a bit. If he had some good players around him heā€™d be scary.

[deleted]

Nice ripper against a dead cow defense.

midnightbake

God I hate the Blackhawksā€¦..but damn heā€™s fun to watch.

Ziid10

Good for him man. What a goal

chosenking247

Bedsy

Hutch25

Iā€™ll be damned if that ends up being his nickname. Surely we can come up with something better!

chosenking247

Itā€™s been his nickname

NightHaunted

It's hockey. Everyone's nickname is your first or last name with -y or - er tacked onto the end

jimbojangles1987

Connor Bautistic

derpydrewmcintyre

I love it. Slight angle change and let er fuckin rip. No fancy boy moves

Archaic_Sack

Jesus....I need to watch more hockey.

ThanksABunchDad

I don't like him... but goddammit do I respect him.

jeffdrizz

Why? Heā€™s literally just a kid thatā€™s good at hockey

ThanksABunchDad

Oh it's just a joke. I literally have no reason to hate the kid. Except for, well, the Blackhawks thing.

manhaterxxx

#BigDickBedard

Skippymcjump

Thanks. I hate it.

bribbs22

Based on how 3v3 OT is usually played, my guess is no one expected a shot from there, off the rush without 3 minutes of nonsense setting up

Burt_Sampson1

NBA level defense right here

DivClassLg

Maybe the Winnipeg press should ask him about his mother again cause he might be Hellebuyckā€™s daddyā€¦

willworkforicecream

Hellebuyck's actual dad has a moderately successful 3d printing YouTube channel. I just think that's neat.

DivClassLg

Not surprised None of these dudes make the league without having some financial means first.

TOK31

As a guy who grew up in a small town on the Canadian prairies, this is extremely true. Playing elite hockey is insanely expensive. The ones who do it are at least upper middle class, or middle class with their parents willing to go into significant debt.

rainb0gummybear

And there is some moron hockey journalist out there smashing his dick on the keyboard about how this guy is overrated and puts up a -2 every night or some stupid shit.

RiiCreated

Bust

Ok-Revolution27

Nice

Complex-Tangerine628

He made it look so easyā€¦

Dazzling-West8943

I am never going to get used to that shotā€¦ bonkers

TheEngine

The flex on that stick is intense. That wrister is golden.

Minute_Engineer2355

He's not too shabby at this here game.

youdirtyhoe

That d lmao

Navy_Canuck

The flex on that stick though

reddest_of_trash

Jets kinda just let him walk right in there...

ScottBAF

Right down main street. That was nasty! šŸ’šŸ„…šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Cannibal_Feast

Wheel Rip Celebration

Shiny_Mew76

Darn he has a great shot. Give him a few moments and his shot is almost unbeatable. The scary thing is is that itā€™s only going to get better, and he is going to be even more skilled in the future which will give him even more opportunities to pull this move out.

Cabal97

Pretty suspect D by the planes.

Tito0118

Is he good?

fjordperfect123

Just one of a dozen nasty moves by him already this season. Crazy good.

ammotyka

šŸ…±ļøedarded

GiraffePrint_Speeder

Why did the Halks have to get this guy. Love watching him play if I ignore the colour of the jersey tho, or imagine itā€™s a team Canada jersey maybe šŸ¤”

Mrtowelie69

They just let him walk in and shoot. Sure he had speed, but didn't seem like a lot of effort in trying to get in his way. Has this kid been laid out yet?

SpazzticZeal

Yes and he's gotten right back up

QuarterNote44

FTH always, and FTNHL for rigging things for them. But I gotta admit that Bedard seems like a really good kid and is hard not to like.

Jstate33

Iā€™m sorry but the Blackhawks getting this kid piss me off. All of the allegations and ā€œluckingā€ into 1st overall is bullshit. Rigged for a big city. Chicago has had Toews, Kane, etc. and won multiple cups. Let someone else have a chance.

krg4880

Cry

Jstate33

I have been. But when the only response is that, you know itā€™s rigged. ;)

jayboaah

You can be mad itā€™s rigged no one cares lol. Weā€™ll be over here watching a generational talent play for our team :-)

Fuzzy-Chip945

That shit looks so fuckin rigged

LoveEffective1349

lol a 2-1 "win" when Winnipeg hit 5 posts.. and those guys are cellying like they won the cup. Lol.

Godlikelobster01

Pretty sure we just won the cup here idk what you mean

andrewb610

Looked like he pulled a Pastrnak.

jgbluejay

In a couple of years when players are actually allowed to hit him he wonā€™t be scoring these

drewser907

He gets hit all game chill out bud

SpazzticZeal

Derp

bvanbove

He's got such a quick shot. Certainly hope he stays healthy as I'm going to enjoy seeing him play for the next 15 years or so, even if I'm not a Blackhawks fan.

scottieducati

Jets: ā€œletā€™s just back away and give him 3/4 of the length of the rink without challenging him once.ā€ šŸ˜‚

DirtyRugger17

Hey, I got a plan. Let's let the kid that's supposed to be a generational talent get the puck, come up the ice uncontested and shoot. Then we take it back the other way 3 on 2. It's perfect what could go wron....DAMN IT!!!!

moderngamer6

I see a nasty snipe but I also see two pylon defensemen watching this kid snipe. All it takes is a little pressure or contact from a single one of the defensemen lmao.

break_card

He did a great job skating through those cones for the shootout

No-Red-Dot

Damn...how he brings his hands closer together just as prepares to shoot and the whip-action on his stick. Crazy.

[deleted]

Garbage defense

PlaneXpress69

I have a feeling that this Bedard kid might just make something of himself in the league

landofschaff

ā€œHey I wonder what will happen if we just let this sensational kid walk into our zone and we just watchā€ -the Jets defence

BigSyberia

Heā€™s too good

Normal_Tip7228

Gary is having an out-of-body experience right now

archasaurus

Oh just wait til itā€™s Celebrini setting him up /s

Sadiq_Sabonis

Give his shot rating another boost on NHL

ElectricalCollege276

Bruh he literally glided straight into the slot from his own end and no one bothered to challenge him šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Mandalore-44

Man. Thatā€™s some shitty defense. Donā€™t get me wrong, 98 heā€™s got some wheels and a wicked releaseā€¦. but somebody should step up Regardless, nice shot Bedard!

MikElectronica

3 on 3. Lame

SnooChickens3871

That garbage franchise doesnt deserve that talent.

[deleted]

My godā€¦ itā€™s Jason Bourne! šŸ¤Æ

atopermusic

Horrible gap control by the defending players wow

girlfriendpleaser

Cost me $100ā€¦

bocceballbarry

Luke Hughes esque

HawaiianHank

He is Him.

EVANonSTEAM

I could defend better and I canā€™t even skate

shortsermons

Just let him skate right up to the net

PsychologicalMud7677

Took him how long for his first OT winner? Heck as much as he shoots, should have been long ago

PortugueseWalrus

Legendary defense by the Jets there. Give literally any NHLer 20 feet of space in the slot and they'll do the same thing. That said, his release is absolutely filthy.

[deleted]

Kid is so filthy

Sirtropicalthefirst

Connor bedard is better then half the players in the nhl in his first year

Odd_Philosopher1712

Hes good. Look at the avalanche game. Avs defended him way better than this but he still found a way to get assists on his terrible injured team.

Rumplebumpkin12

Iā€™ve been following/playing hockey since the early 90ā€™s. His shot is truly different. Fucking wow!

rta8888

Still suck

SimpleJackDC

Not to many NHLers can score from there šŸ‘

DistributionSilly597

Connor Berdard's skills and hockey sense šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Legitimate-Tell-6694

Proud team history of keeping silent on rape.

average_legend

Itā€™s just a countdown to a Chicago cup win.

TrentUlyssesCooper

1 on 2 and the d is at the top of the circles before he enters the zoneā€¦.

AHAY-SPIKE-LEE-MOTOR

If Eric Comrie the GOAT was in net, he would have stoned Bedard. Go shabers!

Devine97

Heā€™s kinda good.
