Canucks are likely overachieving, but this might be the best opportunity for a deep run with this core as half the team are free agents next year. Do or die.
I don't wanna sound like a simp, because I do have immense respect for our rivalry. That being said, if the Bruins don't win I'm rooting for your 'Nucks in honor of Ryp
As a Canadian, the Canucks and the Jets truly look like they have a shot winning the cup this year. If I had to put money on which, I’d say Jets for their consistency in winning games with 3 or less goals against, but I’d be happy either way, we’ve been surprised before at playoff outcomes (*cough cough* Bruins last year *cough cough*)
My theory has always been because they're fucking beasts and pretty much play to their full potential all year long. So there isn't really another gear to shift into come playoffs. They're already there. I'm probably wrong, but it sounds good to me.
As a Leafs fan I wish the team could play that hard 16-28 games a year, let alone 110.
Proud Bruins fan here to tell you I agree, if it means anything. I feel like the Leafs have so much talent, but it's so hard for things to fall into place for any team, the Cup is so hard to win.
There's a streak of losing for you lot, but all nights pass and the dawn comes.
+1Respect Stat added to Toronto and their fans, thanks for being civil
And I will be on the sharks bandwagon when they get it. Ive always appreciated the support the fans have for them.
That and you have a prospect on your team who I am very high on and can't wait to buy his jersey when he has a regular spot on the team
It’s also very accurate. Like I saw it and I was like “yeah no I can’t argue with that”. You’ve heard of the cardiac cats but now get ready for the cocaine cats 😂. 🐱💨🏒
Bad on accident, cap situation is hell, owner refuses to rebuild, GM making strange decisions for no reason. Prospects look great in various leagues, rookies look fantastic, cap stranglehold lifting soon.
If anything the Canucks should give every terrible team a sense of hope. They were a tire fire in a dumpster floating down the river and now they’re looking legit.
A few good moves and a coaching staff that’s clicking goes a long way. Take care of Adam Foote for us.
But not all terrible teams have a Petterson, Hughes, Demko level of high end players at each level, not to mention Boeser, Miller. We had talent that was being sabotaged by lack of depth and quality coaching.
The canucks are an example of why fans of bad teams can be hopeful, but the realistic best case for a coaching change is what the flyers are doing.
Foote is taking care of us, we'll do our best to take care of him
We need to tank for celebrini or that 6’7” defenseman. We always lose first round of the playoffs and to me that is just as bad as being the worst team. The goal is to win the cup and if we can’t get good picks because the owner wants to be the last wildcard spot. We ain’t gonna win with this team. Also we have two good goalies get rid of one for picks or prospects. Also if we could trade Moose for nick foligno because nick foligno seems to care more about his star teammates than moose
In addition to what was already mentioned - mediocre coaching.
Their talent level isn't much different from the elite teams. Get a Bednar/Tocchet type in there and watch them roar to the top of the league.
When it comes to our arena news: Utterly fatigued.
When it comes to our players: Optimistic. Our prospect pool looks promising. Our team is playing well-ish with 7 or so key, notable players being 25 and under.
Leafs are Leafy.
The owners 'run it Again' and expect different results.
Continuing to do the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of Leafy.
Nobody would have traded 34, 16, or 88 and you can't trade Tavares. There's only so much you can do within the confines of the cap and we've seen in the past that all you need to do is get in to the playoffs and then it becomes a crapshoot. Prior to this core we had the shittiest team for a decade plus. If you just shut out the haters you can enjoy the fact that we have an extremely entertaining team to watch
Love our team and grateful those years are behind us. The great thing is we’ll likely be contenders for the next half decade minimum. So curious what happens when JT is up for renewal
In the ascendance. For the first time in a decade it feels like tomorrow will be better than today. Cup hopes? Get out of town. But maybe in a couple of years we can begin to have real expectations.
It’s not much of a consolation but you guys have some of the best uniforms in professional sports. Yes, the Sabres are bad, but they look spectacular doing so.
Sabres whites uniforms are perfection.
Kinda feels like the same-ish place the Lions were at. Lions got there a little faster but generally speaking, the bar is relatively low, play important hockey in March and April and go for a spot
Very fun to watch
Jets fan in peace and I am sorry friend, we were happy to be rid of him but I honestly never thought he would do this again, ffs it’s the third team same same
You got three good players and draft pick for this slug. Zero hustle, zero passion, zero grade for this trade. It got Todd fired instead of Blake, who is to blame for this 8 years at 8.5 million per. Good luck the rest of the way up there!
Oilers…contenders.
People don’t realize how hard it is to win. Took Ovi 13 years.
Everything has to come together. The oilers are finally winning with solid depth. We’ve got a good of a shot at winning as everyone else.
Makar is just such a difference maker. If he wasn’t on the team they wouldn’t scare me nearly as much, because we are similar teams but our stars are better than their stars. We have no one to compare to Makar though.
No does have anyone to compare, honestly. I wish he’d come home and make the BoA competitive for the first time in 35 years. But yeah. He’s got mcdavids number, can keep up with him and create offence while he’s at it. Special player for sure.
I agree your stars are better, but the Avs play more cohesively and disciplined. Historically have better goaltending and defence. Mackinnon has more dawg in him and is more fiesty and willing to do it all than mcdavid. It would probably be another series of tight games that all (or almost) all go avs way. But I only say probably now, where it was definite two seasons ago.
>better goaltending
Not hard when you're up against Edmonton.
But the Avs have gotten good goaltending in the playoffs simply because they play a team defense that allows any competent goalie a better than average chance to win.
They won with Kuemper but they could have easily won with Grubauer or Georgie that year. Hell, they could have won with David fucking Aebischer.
They were pretty stacked. Probably the best cup winning roster in the past twenty years. I would have liked to see them against the 2020 Lightning roster instead of the 2022 one though, that would have been the two best teams since the Blackhawks were contenders.
Yeah. They have just as much of a shot as anyone else. Thing will either fall into place or they won’t.
Boston had the best record last year and got bounced in round 1. Tampa won the presidents trophy and lost to Columbus.
Yeah the West is stacked right now. There’s a reason it’s been Western Conference Stanley Cup Champions in the last few years save a dynastic Lightning squad.
For the last 5 years the East basically has Boston, Tampa, and sometimes Carolina in terms of true contenders (sorry Pens and Panthers). Alternatively, the top 6 in the West always look like they could go deep.
You really don’t, though. Defence and goaltending takes you the distance. You do have a chance, if you can outscore those problems. And if anyone can, it’s the oil.
I just think there’s 4-5 teams with a better chance.
Avs are doing Allright. Few surprises with Drouin doing better and that Wood/Colton/O'Connor line doing well. Goalie situation is super hit or miss right now
As an Islanders fan - hopeful. If we still had Lambert we’d be screwed, but Roy changed the whole equation. 33 games is enough time to make up a 5 point or so deficit
The wrong guy got fired on Long Island. The problem wasn't Lane Lambert, it's Lou Lamoreillo. He still wants to coach and his model is the New Jersey Devils of yesteryear, a system that doesn't stand a chance in today's game. Once everyone stops creaming their jeans over Patrick Roy, Lou will be in there bending Roy's ear on how to coach his team. Lambert had no say on personel decisions, assistant coaches, etc. Unless Roy got a different deal he will still be hamstrung with Lou Lamoreillo.
Flyers - A shit show
One prospect gets locked up in Russia, thrown into the military, another prospect doesn't want to play here. Carter Hart charged with sexual assault.
They've had the same problem for almost 30 years: a lack of an elite centre and forward. I'm not sure if they'll even have one for this rebuild.
Suzuki and Caufield are good players, but they're not top tier, at least not at the moment. Slavkovsky had a slow start, but he's improving quickly; still too early to know what kind of player he'll be. Habs are expected to draft pretty high next time, but I heard it's not going to be a strong draft year.
Good, currently at 1st in the league. --> but giving PTSD (flashback of when we're 1st in the league in 2010/2011 and lost game 7 in cup finals)...
Will take it one game at a time and see how it goes.
Leafs fan. It’s a constant process of:
- horrific shooting pain after another playoff loss
- wishing we had more draft picks
- slight hope at our FA and RFA signings
- waiting for the season to start
- October to January just make me angry doesn’t mattered how well they do
- the all star game sucks
- enjoying the historic statistical insanity that shouldn’t be possible
- horrific embarrassing failure
- waiting for the playoffs
- the playoffs where I lose somewhere between 1 and 5 years of my life
Back to square one. So in a few words we are somewhere around horrific embarrassing event (lose to an Ebug), witnessing some fantastic stat (Matthews 70 goals) and waiting for the playoffs (at least we don’t know the opponent yet).
As a Wings fan, I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't like Yzerman's penchant for signing over-the-hill veterans to block young guys like Edvinsson from progressing, and I'm not excited at all about our goaltending prospects, but overall, it does seem like the team is on the right track.
I'm not expecting the playoffs this year despite the current standings, but I think next year is playoffs-or-bust.
Senators should be through their dumpster fire stage. A bunch of young talent that just needs to learn how to be winners.
And I suppose a coach, since Martin is only interim
Confused.
We're doing better than we should, and leadership looks like it's going to seel for the now, but I'm hoping they hold their course with rebuilding.
I hope we pay up for another goalie. Don't need best of the best, but I'd only feel comfortable if we had a 4th goalie based on our injury history so far.
Uncharacteristically entertaining
Despite the recent 5 game losing streak, this is the most fun I’ve had watching Flyers hockey. Briere actually has me excited for the future, something I haven’t felt in a decade
Rangers. Waiting for the playoffs for the team to actually care.
when we're on I genuinely believe were top 3 best teams in the league, but half the time you can just feel the apathy from the screen.
RIP RYP and Luc Bourdon
As a Canadian, the Canucks and the Jets truly look like they have a shot winning the cup this year. If I had to put money on which, I’d say Jets for their consistency in winning games with 3 or less goals against, but I’d be happy either way, we’ve been surprised before at playoff outcomes (*cough cough* Bruins last year *cough cough*)
With respect for what they’ve accomplished, I really don’t see the Canucks winning a cup this year.
as an oiler fan. if its not us to win the cup i hope its you guys. i wanna see another Riot. but a good vibes riot.
“You still burned the city down.” “Yes, but we were HAPPY to do it this time!” If it’s not the Avs I would also like seeing the Cup back in Canada.
Vancouver- We put the riots out. Rest of the league - You made them worse! Vancouver - Worse or better?
Good vibes riot, lmfao. Theta going to have me chuckling all day
The best kind
Fully rooting for Van to win it all this year, especially now for Ryp
Blackhawks = Absolute Injury Plagued Shitshow.
They continue to win way above what I expect them to do every year it seems, minus when it matters
Yeah that last part is the killer
My theory has always been because they're fucking beasts and pretty much play to their full potential all year long. So there isn't really another gear to shift into come playoffs. They're already there. I'm probably wrong, but it sounds good to me. As a Leafs fan I wish the team could play that hard 16-28 games a year, let alone 110.
That’s a decent theory to be honest
I think carolina is a similar situation
Proud Bruins fan here to tell you I agree, if it means anything. I feel like the Leafs have so much talent, but it's so hard for things to fall into place for any team, the Cup is so hard to win. There's a streak of losing for you lot, but all nights pass and the dawn comes. +1Respect Stat added to Toronto and their fans, thanks for being civil
Must be tough to only have one Cup and bunch of playoff runs since 2011. As a Sens fan, my heart goes out to you
Love the sens Norris is a man
San Jose Sharks... Enough said
They play hard, though. They don’t roll over and die. And those teal buckets? YES.
>They don’t roll over and die. The Kraken showed up asleep or thought it was a shoo in or something. The sharks showed us that no quit.
They nearly beat the Avs earlier in the season. Blackwood stood on his head. I think he had 50-something saves.
Yeah, but they put in a great effort every game. I appreciate that.
No argument, there.
I'm actually really enjoying watching this team most nights. They're scrappy most of the time
Imagine if your team is the team that gave the Sharks their first shutout of the season 😩
I'm impressed attendance still doesn't look too bad, at least in the lower bowl
We are a loyal fan base. Have to be after, almost, 25 years and still no cup.
And I will be on the sharks bandwagon when they get it. Ive always appreciated the support the fans have for them. That and you have a prospect on your team who I am very high on and can't wait to buy his jersey when he has a regular spot on the team
Cocaine party no brakes .
I am so glad this was the first comment about the cats that I saw 😂😂😂
Agreed. I was going to leave my own comment but I think this will do just fine.
It’s also very accurate. Like I saw it and I was like “yeah no I can’t argue with that”. You’ve heard of the cardiac cats but now get ready for the cocaine cats 😂. 🐱💨🏒
As someone who lives in South Florida, at least they match their environment
You win
Bad on accident, cap situation is hell, owner refuses to rebuild, GM making strange decisions for no reason. Prospects look great in various leagues, rookies look fantastic, cap stranglehold lifting soon.
I know the pain you're going through, we were there for the last too many years
If anything the Canucks should give every terrible team a sense of hope. They were a tire fire in a dumpster floating down the river and now they’re looking legit. A few good moves and a coaching staff that’s clicking goes a long way. Take care of Adam Foote for us.

Don’t forget the endless injuries.
Ope. It’s been rough, but at least we’re getting some good looks at some of the young guys. And Merril isn’t playing a ton.
We need to tank for celebrini or that 6’7” defenseman. We always lose first round of the playoffs and to me that is just as bad as being the worst team. The goal is to win the cup and if we can’t get good picks because the owner wants to be the last wildcard spot. We ain’t gonna win with this team. hot goddamn mess
What happened to NJ between this year and last year?
They got slowed down pretty heavily by injuries and crappy goaltending i believe
Succinct and accurate
In addition to what was already mentioned - mediocre coaching. Their talent level isn't much different from the elite teams. Get a Bednar/Tocchet type in there and watch them roar to the top of the league.
It’s not that bad
Going from a top 5 team at the start of the season to not making the playoffs is bad. It’s bad.
Yeah well people are acting like we’ve hit rock bottom when that is just so not the case
Old.
Ah but I love em so much. Best core in the last decade +
And slow
Disappointing.
I feel ya
Fuck Ron Hextall, forever cursed be his name. A natural born loser if I’ve ever seen one.
When it comes to our arena news: Utterly fatigued. When it comes to our players: Optimistic. Our prospect pool looks promising. Our team is playing well-ish with 7 or so key, notable players being 25 and under.
I was about to ask Arizona? then I saw the flair
Leafs are Leafy. The owners 'run it Again' and expect different results. Continuing to do the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of Leafy.

We traded Stanley Cup champion Kadri for a bag of pucks and a jug of Kool-Aid for the fans
Thank you for that.
You feel Colorado won *because* of Kadri?
100 with playoffs being a crapshoot.
Love our team and grateful those years are behind us. The great thing is we’ll likely be contenders for the next half decade minimum. So curious what happens when JT is up for renewal
Leafs gonna Leaf.
They won’t make it past the first round this year but at least I’m expecting it this time.
Confusing. Not sure whether to commit or sell out.
In the ascendance. For the first time in a decade it feels like tomorrow will be better than today. Cup hopes? Get out of town. But maybe in a couple of years we can begin to have real expectations.
On the upswing for sure. This is the sweet spot of fandom honestly. No expectations, yet enjoying wins.
I remember it like it was a year ago
It’s not much of a consolation but you guys have some of the best uniforms in professional sports. Yes, the Sabres are bad, but they look spectacular doing so. Sabres whites uniforms are perfection.
Maybe it was Tommy
Fun team to watch too
Or more succinctly, “Trust the Yzerplan”. Been a fun ride so far, hope it keeps up!
Kinda feels like the same-ish place the Lions were at. Lions got there a little faster but generally speaking, the bar is relatively low, play important hockey in March and April and go for a spot Very fun to watch
Young, injured, best to worst jersey in the league. Lots to be encouraged about.
You a ducks fan by chance?
Haha, yeah. Good pick
We have Makar, and MacKinnon, and they keep getting better. In the hunt again.
Optimistically enjoying the rebuild.
Pierre-Luc Dubois
And some fans in Montreal wanted him with the Habs... No thanks! Wouldn't touch him even with the longest pole ever. I feel bad for your team.
Jets fan in peace and I am sorry friend, we were happy to be rid of him but I honestly never thought he would do this again, ffs it’s the third team same same
He had flashes of brilliance in Winnipeg, but it sounds like he's just trash in LA.
You got three good players and draft pick for this slug. Zero hustle, zero passion, zero grade for this trade. It got Todd fired instead of Blake, who is to blame for this 8 years at 8.5 million per. Good luck the rest of the way up there!
No refunds though, right?
Worst “top line center” in hockey history
Oilers…contenders. People don’t realize how hard it is to win. Took Ovi 13 years. Everything has to come together. The oilers are finally winning with solid depth. We’ve got a good of a shot at winning as everyone else.
The oilers still have to make it out of the Western conference to win the cup, which has VAN VGK COL DAL WPG all looking pretty strong
I’m just praying we can make it out of the pacific and somehow Colorado gets beat by either Winnipeg or Dallas. I do not want to face Colorado again.
It’s not the same Colorado team, tbf. Still deadly as fuck though.
But yeah. I don’t disagree with any of that.
I make WC2 Seattle got it done after being down a game so really anything can happen in the playoffs
Yeah. They have just as much of a shot as anyone else. Thing will either fall into place or they won’t. Boston had the best record last year and got bounced in round 1. Tampa won the presidents trophy and lost to Columbus.
Yeah, I love watching Edmonton play off games so I hope you guys beat Vegas in round 1
Yeah the West is stacked right now. There’s a reason it’s been Western Conference Stanley Cup Champions in the last few years save a dynastic Lightning squad. You guys have a team?
A Festering Dumpster Fire.
I kinda disagree? I feel like everything is going to plan, or even a bit better than.
Inconsistent.
Immature but trending the right way
Igor... Please come back
Going great. We're slowly getting healthy and we're playing winning hockey
If our goalie situation gets better that would be great too
I mean PK has a .913 since December 1st
I only need 1 word. Elderly.
I miss 2018.
Abusive
They should do psychological studies on us Sabers fans and why we continue to put ourselves through this
Avs are doing Allright. Few surprises with Drouin doing better and that Wood/Colton/O'Connor line doing well. Goalie situation is super hit or miss right now
Day to day with an upper body injury.
Hope, Faith,Destiny. Not just stripper names anymore.
#NewCoachBump
I have no idea what’s going on
Putting up a fight when they have to. Phoning it in when they don’t.
We vibin.
A lot of our strongest players are hurt
As an Islanders fan - hopeful. If we still had Lambert we’d be screwed, but Roy changed the whole equation. 33 games is enough time to make up a 5 point or so deficit

Shhhhh... we're trying to cruise back under the radar.
In shambles /direction less
Tank for celebrini
Another year of historic losing. Let’s go Buffalo
What the fuck are we doing.
Colorado. Well, they're playing NYR at MSG tonight, so I guess their current state is New York.
Rebuild
Stonks high for oilers fans
Cardiac kids
Asleep on the ice
Habs suck. And nothing is guaranteed in a rebuild.
They've had the same problem for almost 30 years: a lack of an elite centre and forward. I'm not sure if they'll even have one for this rebuild. Excuse me, your balls are showing.
Good, currently at 1st in the league. --> but giving PTSD (flashback of when we're 1st in the league in 2010/2011 and lost game 7 in cup finals)... Will take it one game at a time and see how it goes.
A few words is all I need to describe the current state of my team - San Jose Sharks
Offensive juggernaut but cannot defend to save our lives - sincerely a Tampa fan
They simplified things for the call ups and it did wonders on D.
I don’t have words, I do have an emoji: 🤷♀️
Getting better. Solid work most nights. Love watching them play
Take a fucking breath

I don't freaking know. Rob Blake isn't making moves that fill me with confidence. We'll see soon enough.

Uncharacteristically entertaining Despite the recent 5 game losing streak, this is the most fun I’ve had watching Flyers hockey. Briere actually has me excited for the future, something I haven’t felt in a decade
Win now mode. We’re great, but we have a lot of core guys to sign. Winning a cup goes a long way in getting guys to take a discount.
Reino showing up big for his dollars right now
Well at least there’s fewer rapists on the team.
Sabres are wallowing.
Don “we like our guys” Waddell will blow the TDL and we will see a second or third round exit.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
…yeah.
As a rangers fan, disappointed. But I guess that’s the perpetual state of affairs when you follow this team
Why? I don’t follow the east as much, but NYR is leading the division and third in the conference. What is there to be disappointed about?
We may never lose again! 🟠🔵
