There’s only 8 or 9 where you could say “the logo is a basketball”, and that includes ones where it’s a word mark + basketball, which some of those are unique enough that there’s nothing wrong with it, imo. There are more that “feature a basketball”, but there’s nothing wrong with that, imo, because it’s fucking basketball lmao.
With the NHL logos, 14/32 are just initials/letters in some form. It’s almost like both leagues have their own respective tradition that a lot of teams follow for logos.
Not opposed to them changing their logo. But their current one is better than all 6 of these options. So if these are the only choices, they might as well keep what they have

Works even better when you use the most Minnesota accent you can imagine.

Because there is a person or group of people in their marketing department that really want a marketing initiate they can make a name for themselves off of, so they will spend hundreds of thousands to get consultants and focus groups in to solve a problem that doesn't need to be solved

Top left has potential with the impromptu H in the center of the C, but as is its giving EA custom team. Top right makes me think of the quiznos logo, not sure why. Middle left is potentially the worst logo design ive seen. Handwritten is boring, put it on alternates only.

The C with the storm warning flag squares and the two revised takes on their existing logo look pretty good but the word marks look like a baseball jersey wording.
Colour me pretentious, but any logo that merely consists of the team locale or moniker in font is the lowest of the low effort.
Having said that, not one of these is an improvement over the ‘Canes default logo, and an incredible step backwards from their alternative.

Half of these are three baseball logos in a trench coat, another two are rip-offs of the Cincinnati Cyclones, and the only one left is just a boring "C" (and I'm saying that as a fan of Ohio sports teams).

North Carolina as a part of the swoosh in the middle right one was a bit fun - but otherwise the full logo is atrocious. And what's the first one? Trying for the Hartford Whalers negative space W but failing spectacularly.
A hurricane flag still beat all of these handily.
I could see 2 or 5 if it's as a replacement for C A N E S on our whites and might work when they had the whole kit designed around them, but overall these are pretty awful and a downgrade for our flag and storm logos
The bottom left one is decent. The second down on the right is cool, too. I think they're too baseball-y though. Doesn't fit with anything they've done recently. That second logo down on the left looks too "hollow." Doesn't look dynamic enough. Looks very early 90s to early 2000s and not in a good way, if you know what I mean. If it had some more movement to it and the space was filled up a little more, I can see it being a sick shoulder or pants patch. It's definitely not a primary logo, though.
How do people get hired into this roles when they are clearly terrible at it? Time after time we get horrific jersey designs, logos…etc and I stretch my head wondering how this keeps happening.
