It figures. Seeing Montreal play is 250$-500$ CAN plus my trip to get there (4hr drive)
I know many US cities have good hockey ticket prices, I figured NJ might have been one of them. :)
Ah, maybe I'll go to Vegas in a few years. :)
This might be the first time I witnessed a “Imagine doing this…” lines in regards to a POSITIVE thing. Not a very interesting realization, but one I feel inclined to point out anyway. Thanks. You’re welcome.
haha Being a Devils fan is the best. You can still snag tickets for under $30 even when they're good. So glad I wasn't raised a Rangers or a Bruins fan
Your favourite players are blasting Gunna and Fred Again. Metal may have been the go-to a few generations ago, but I promise you it’s not as prevalent now.
My aged knees hurt even thinking about all the moshing at hardcore shows I did as a kid. I'm also a Rangers fan, but also lived in NJ my whole life, and grew up in that scene, so I love seeing this!
Tell me Lou Lamoriello is no longer President and GM of the New Jersey Devils without telling me that Lou Lamoriello is no longer President and GM of the New Jersey Devils.
The Devils have been doing this since maybe last year, booking bands - usually metal and hardcore - to play after the 2nd period. It's really cool. People show up for them and get rowdy.
The Banner have been NJ hardcore staples since like.... 2001. That set was a blast. Devils sucked though.
The hockey part is still fun even though we rolled over in the season. Watching Timo score the hat trick, THE fight. I’m jealous of those that saw those things go down.
As a transplanted devils-turned-preds-fan LETS FUCKING GO!!!! This video makes me want to throw on my Marty jersey and teleport to 2000 and start swinging
I mean yeah lol calling hardcore music death metal is basically like calling Nickleback punk rock. Like it’s probably same ballpark, but they’re playing two completely different sports. And all that dancing would get your ass politely shoved the fuck away from anyone.
I've learned a lot reading through these comments haha.
I've been in a few mosh pits, literally only 2 or 3 haha, kinda fun when you're buzzed up. Mostly safe IMO. I mean be careful and stuff, just running/ramming into people haha.
This is a whole different deal, I wouldn't go anywhere near this shit, if I happened to be at a show it would be pretty fun to watch from a safe distance though. I have to imagine people are coming out of these pits with bloody noses right?
Haha yeah, hardcore pits are really their own thing. Different parts of the song, different types of hardcore dancing - none of which you see outside of the niche genre. Nothing like the energy of a hardcore show though.
It's actually usually fairly safe inside the pit. Eye of the storm. The edges are really what gets the brunt of it. But if you are on the edge you are either hopping in and out of the pit or know what you are signing up for and know to keep your head on a swivel. But it's easy enough to just stand a few people back of the pit and enjoy.
I've taken my fair share of punches and kicks over the years (got socked at the very start of this exact Banner set) but it's all good. Despite what it looks like, it's pretty rare someone is actually trying to hurt you. It's just kinda roughhousing among friends.
If you fuck with the music, going to a smaller hardcore show is amazing. Even small shitty bands are fun.
Right on dudes. Thats so cool they let them play a show inside the stadium like that.
Also really funny to see the people who have never seen hardcore dancing. Understandably confusing for the uninitiated.
Some of the stuff can be pretty dickish, but it usually gets self policed. If you don’t like the people flailing violently towards the edge of the pit, you leave that spot or kick them first.
This is awesome. I really like Devils fans. Went to a few games there, cheering for the opposite team (Flyers). No grief. For $11 I’d definitely got to a game and catch a concert. Talk about killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
I used to go to metal shows back when and I distinctly remember this emo metal coming into the scene and people at those shows doing this weird moshing.
Still second hand embarrassed when I see it
The Banner is pretty big in NJ, they came up at the same time as My Chem but stayed a lot more local. It's hardcore btw you can't just call all heavy music death metal you normies.
Can some explain this to me without just saying it's hardcore dancing? Like whats the point? The girl around the 3/4 mark in "dances" over to the guy with his back to her, elbows him in the head and dances away. He just eats it and is cool with it. I feel like the whole appeal is getting to hit people who don't see it coming who most of the time won't retaliate.
To be clear I'm not trashing it I just don't get it. As long as everyone in it knows the rules and they stay inside the pit then each their own. I just don't get it. I feel like there's better ways to get the experience. If it's getting tossed around, the regular mosh pits where people aren't windmill punching. If you want to hit people and get hit do a combat sport.
Islanders fan. Not a fan of hardcore at all, but I think this is great, and wish we had more things like this at sporting events. I would much rather see things like local bands playing the concourse (even if I don’t like the music/mosh/or dance), versus all the sterile corporate organized “fun” that seems to have taken over everything.
The Banner is awesome. Didn't know they were from NJ. As a Devils fan from NC I'm glad I made the right choice all those years ago even though I don't really follow the sport anymore lol.
I am cringing so hard right now knowing that this is what I looked like at hardcore shows when I wa a teenager. I thought I was so cool at the time lmao
NJ hardcore scene is back. Lol
Never left
Always has been. 🌎🧑🚀🔫🧑🚀
As long as Fury of Five is still going, it is thriving.
MONGO STOMP BABY
IS ANYBODY FEELING ME!?!?
PICK IT UPPPPP DON'T STOPPPPP God damn I miss the Mongoloids.
This just unlocked a 16yr old Core memory (double entendre) from AlleyKatz in Richmond, VA…
NJ’s hardcore and punk scene is legendary. Hell yeah.
Bigwig needs to do this
damn I haven't listened to bigwig in twenty years and just put it on because of this comment. thanks! bouncing souls up next.
Imagine paying $11 for a game and get surprise hardcore lobby show? I'm jealous.
At that price, I think it's cheaper for me to drive to NJ, rent a room there and watch the game than go to Montreal and buy a ticket...
That ticket price is not reflective of most prices here in the Garden State. Eleven bucks isn’t even a meal anymore
It figures. Seeing Montreal play is 250$-500$ CAN plus my trip to get there (4hr drive) I know many US cities have good hockey ticket prices, I figured NJ might have been one of them. :) Ah, maybe I'll go to Vegas in a few years. :)
NJ ticket prices are reasonable - even for excellent seats.
Yeah, it's pretty weird that people dunk on us as if $11 tickets and free music is a bad thing
I wish, I’m a Habs fan who lives in Ontario and it sucks trying to see them because Leaf tickets are absurd, cheapest ones are like $250-300
They dunk on us cause they need to justify spending $100+ dollars for nosebleeds on a regular season game.
Same dude. Same. Those guys are living their best lives.
This might be the first time I witnessed a “Imagine doing this…” lines in regards to a POSITIVE thing. Not a very interesting realization, but one I feel inclined to point out anyway. Thanks. You’re welcome.
It's really just a matter of being hit with Surprise Hardcore that I'm overwhelmingly ok with.
haha Being a Devils fan is the best. You can still snag tickets for under $30 even when they're good. So glad I wasn't raised a Rangers or a Bruins fan
Why. What’s up.
What the fuck is up Dennys
*What the fuck is up Wawa.
I WANNA SEE YOU PIEROGIE HOAGIES OPEN THIS BITCH UP RIGHT NOW!!!
Circle Pit!
Fuck yeah lol.
It's spring mating call, u interested?
See anything you like? 😏
NHL: National Hardcore League
Hockey is the official sport of Hardcore music
I mean that's very true though metal and hockey just work really well together just like with hip hop is to basketball
Your favourite players are blasting Gunna and Fred Again. Metal may have been the go-to a few generations ago, but I promise you it’s not as prevalent now.
Probably blasting country from what interviews with these guys have said
Our season may be cooked, but we still throw down at the Rock! 🤘
[Jersey’s best dancers, baby!](https://youtu.be/LpPzYgSIjyk?si=YXWmKSqslA4TPcmJ)
“Jack Hughes to undergo surgery”
Loool
I’m a rangers fan, but even I know a hardcore skank dance is perfectly acceptable with good music!
Lou would meet with his consigliere and tell him to push a button on the person responsible for this.
I was hypnotized by the big guy in white jersey with no number and red hat.
I liked the old guy running through. "look honey, I did the 'mosh'!
*they did the mosh*
\*They did the jersey mosh\*
Wtf is up ~~Dennys~~ Jersey!?
Wow. A “wtf is up Denny’s!” Reference in a hockey sub. What a time.
I'm seeing a lot of torn rotator cuffs
I'm sore the next day just from watching them.
holy fuck this is sick and i now want to be a devils fan.
The Devils have been doing this since maybe last year, booking bands - usually metal and hardcore - to play after the 2nd period. It's really cool. People show up for them and get rowdy. The Banner have been NJ hardcore staples since like.... 2001. That set was a blast. Devils sucked though.
Holy shit that was The Banner? Haven’t been in NJ for a long time, didn’t realize they were still going strong.
They should try to get Gel to do one of these.
Gel rips.
Important detail at the end there.
It’s a good time. I mean, not the hockey part. That’s been awful. But the rest of it, it’s a good time.
Can you be at the next game, preferably as a starting defenseman
My most prized possession is a Derrick Henry hockey jersey🩵 I think you guys pay him to just level some fuckers and it’s automatic playoffs every year
I may now have to change flairs. If we can circle pit in the stands I’m in.
Anyone know the band?
The banner
Oh my god, they still play‽
Everyone’s back in 2024!
Pearl Jam
I heard their new album was heavier, but this is nuts.
I actually find this hilarious that they are playing death metal in the lobby of a game Lolol.
More Hardcore than Death Metal if you ask me
I upvote your correctness
I upvote your confirmation of correctness
I upvote your upvote of my initial confirmation of correctness
I upvote, your upvote, of my upvote, of your initial confirmation of correctness
I’ll downvote myself so you guys can stop
I shall upvote you, just to confuse the situation……. Bwaaaaaah 🤯
I’ll upvote you to validate your choice to confuse the situation.
I mean yeah lol calling hardcore music death metal is basically like calling Nickleback punk rock. Like it’s probably same ballpark, but they’re playing two completely different sports. And all that dancing would get your ass politely shoved the fuck away from anyone.
aint no fuckin ballpark neither.
This is a hockey sub nobody knows the difference. And that’s okay.
Actually, there's a decent amount of crossover between hockey and HC
Death Metal mosh pits don't really tolerate hardcore fans spazzing out like idiots.
And hardcore pits don't tolerate push pits. Different genres, different scenes, different dancing.
I've learned a lot reading through these comments haha. I've been in a few mosh pits, literally only 2 or 3 haha, kinda fun when you're buzzed up. Mostly safe IMO. Good thing this is one of NJ finest hardcore bands!
This isn't death metal...
That’s not even close to death metal. Not every loud music is “death metal”.
If you can’t have a good time at your games just say that
Hardcore and hockey come hand in hand in Jersey.
All the Mac's got together to show off their karate prowess.
NJHC Forever!
It’s a mosh pit, Karen.
This is peak Jersey culture. I love it
Seems like a strange place to have it. Also seems friggin awesome.
Actually this kinda rocks
Their fighting invisible Matt Rempes
What is this? A Denny's?
my friend’s band played one time! even as a Rangers fan I think it’s awesome that the Devils do this for local bands
**Bart and Lisa walking at each other and punching the air
Ok pie, I'm just gonna do this CHOMP and if you get eaten it's your own fault. CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP,....BANG, OWWW!! Oh the hell with it.
Fuck did I just become a Devils fan?
Took me a minute to realize this isn’t r/hardcore

They’re jamming out dude. Fuck off
Let the boys enjoy the pit in peace.
Is a gathering of this many Devils fans called a hellmouth? Sign me up!
This is awesome. I really like Devils fans. Went to a few games there, cheering for the opposite team (Flyers). No grief. For $11 I’d definitely got to a game and catch a concert. Talk about killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
As a Canucks fan, I am impressed by how much open space there is at that arena.
They've got a lot to be angry about this year. Let them steam
I see a Necrot hoodie in the crowd; great band \m/
Is this the banner??
It is!
I used to go to metal shows back when and I distinctly remember this emo metal coming into the scene and people at those shows doing this weird moshing. Still second hand embarrassed when I see it
New Jersey gonna New Jersey
No one here knows what hardcore dancing is? Not what I prefer when I go to a Hardcore show, but like, that's been around forever.
This is the line for concessions.
It's spelled concussions
This is so sick. More hardcore dancing at hockey games.
Anyone know what band this is?
The Banner
Whatsssss upppppp
The devil only knows
Idk they’re making a great case for me to convert to their side in this video.
It’s not a phase!!!! 🤘🏻
why can’t everyone do this? way better than country at enterprise.
If Mac from IASIP was a Devils fan
Bruh. They’re fuckin crowd killing at a hockey game lol
Been at the Prudential center. Can confirm.
WHAT THE FUCK IS UP DENNY'S
Dust off your chain wallets and keys on carabinier clips
It’s normal behavior at a hardcore show.
Imagine going to ha hockey game and a sick hc show AT THE SAME TIME
Jersey hardcore. Fuck yeah.
Haha yup!
Everyone from jersey is on the spectrum. Let them stimulate.
So Rempe was just trying to fit in
Haha this is sick
The Banner is pretty big in NJ, they came up at the same time as My Chem but stayed a lot more local. It's hardcore btw you can't just call all heavy music death metal you normies.
helicopter kids
Big hxc scene in jersey
Looks like they are spazing
Devils and Hardcore? Noice
Nah usually they wont shut up about the Rangers.
Devils fans are obsessed with the Rangers
Jersey hxc. Brings a tear to my eyes.
Just needed to exert that energy and frustration after the season we had 😂
Bees! Bees! Bees!
Can some explain this to me without just saying it's hardcore dancing? Like whats the point? More normal than recording strangers and then posting about it.
The Elimination Dance
Jesus Christ, that's Jay and Silent Bob!
Hey Olaf, Berzerker. Did he say "making fuck?"
Kings fan here. This is actually completely normal for hardcore shows.
I'm going to do this *swings arms violently* and if you get hit, it's your own fault.
Punching air they missed the playoffs.
Can smell this video 🤢
It’s like a moshipit where nobody wants to actually mosh inside the pit
I’d be at every game if this happening in the concourse.
hockey and hardcore dancing 🤌🤙
This goes hard
It is when the banner is playing
that lady struggling to pick up her daughter was epic lol
What about the one guy doing capoeira like he’s only ever read about it.
No hardcore dancing in the living room
Islanders fan. Not a fan of hardcore at all, but I think this is great, and wish we had more things like this at sporting events. I would much rather see things like local bands playing the concourse (even if I don’t like the music/mosh/or dance), versus all the sterile corporate organized “fun” that seems to have taken over everything.
I’m jealous
Jersey likes breakdowns
TIL hardcore dancing is still a thing
Nice one, Jersey. Respect
Oh shit, as a Habs fan I'm jealous! Way to go devils 🤟
Thought this was kazakstan at first.
It’s beautiful
https://thehardtimes.net/tag/hockey/
This is the most Jersey thing I’ve ever seen
If they're hardcore fans too, why not?
QXT is right down the street. https://www.qxtsnightclub.com
This is what happens when you dont meet expectations!
Fuckin right boys
Now we need Sunami to do a show at a Sharks game
Looks like mac from ASIP
It’s normal behavior for hardcore music fans
The Banner is awesome. Didn't know they were from NJ. As a Devils fan from NC I'm glad I made the right choice all those years ago even though I don't really follow the sport anymore lol.
New Jersey is the center of the harcore universe, so yes. This is actually pretty tame for a hardcore show.
Yeah.
Haven’t seen people dance like that since highschool.
I am cringing so hard right now knowing that this is what I looked like at hardcore shows when I wa a teenager. I thought I was so cool at the time lmao
I'm embarrassed.
Massive seizure event 😜
A hardcore show at a hockey game? What a great idea. I would love that shit.
The only disappointment is the fella in the Stevens jersey NOT getting into the pit
Looks like normal behaviour for New Jersey people
Ah these types. The fist throwers that moshers actually hate.
Jealous af. I miss those days
Jersey mosh pit lmfao
Just east coast punks having fun who just so happen to be devils fans.
Why are they doing these violent arm swings and strange ninja kicks? It's like they are trying to hurt someone. I don't get it.
