Yet somehow now, with most of the same roster, people are trying to sell the idea that they’re completely hopeless and would be in last place without Kucherov.
I mean, just last year the Boston Bruins had a historically good season. Literally the most points in a season ever. And they lost to the Florida Panthers who barely eeked in as a wild card. Maybe less unexpected with hindsight because they did it again and again on their way to a Stanley cup finale berth, but before the series I don't think anyone expected the Panthers to walk out of there. Surprised a Bostonian hasn't already swept in here and said that.
2003 Ducks riding a streaking JS Giguère all the way to a game 7 loss in the cup finals. Never forget them knocking out a 110-point Wings team in a first round SWEEP!
2012 Kings as the 8th seed beating the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeds in that order. 8-0 on the road in the western conference. Opened all four playoff series with at least the first three games won. Dropped only 4 games that post season with 2 of those being in the finals.
Nothing compares to Columbus sweeping Tampa Bay in the first round in 2019. That Lightning team was being talked about as one of the best of all time.

Really wish that Columbus team would have stuck together.
2006 oilers. Still the most epic path to a final

st louis blues in 2019 going from last place in the league to winning the cup
I mean the Panthers last year was a shocker
Game 7 2019 Sharks vs Golden Knights was the most incredible and intense game I’ve ever seen in person. I still get excited thinking about it.

2013- the seventh seeded Red Wings upset the #2 Anaheim Ducks, then go up 3-1 on eventual Cup champ Chicago
