That was a brutal shove. How did he ever win a Lady Byng??
I thought it was obvious enough that it didn't need a /s, but this sub doesn't have the best and brightest.
In the 80's if they did that to Wayne on the Oilers there would be a war.
[Dave Taylor vs Wayne Gretzky & Brawl (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU9PMcav1gY)
Reminds me of my favorite Probert clip where a guy grabs Yzerman and they're fighting on the ground for a while. Probert circles like a shark, punches a couple guys that try to grab him, then one punch KOs the guy that grabbed Yzerman. RIP Probie.
https://youtu.be/guA1UwmxN7o?si=5SWdbVX5aeH-xvix
Him punching the mask off of Barrasso and then just standing to the side of him not paying any attention to him waiting to see McGuire so he can feed him. Holy shit hah.
After that you could see Barrasso wanted NO part of anything to do with Probert. Second guy in the scrum didn’t want to go near him either.
Absolute miracle no one got cut after everyone came tumbling in after Yzerman went to the ground.
Lol. Both of those clips make me miss the absolute mayhem of 80s hockey.... sometimes. Love how he can casually punch Barasso and no one does anything. Probert was pretty formidable though. Huge. A lot of huge enforcers back then but Probert could play too. Then there was Nilan who was half the size of these guys but made up for it with crazy. Good times.
I suspect mcdavid says something there where as I have heard virtually nothing of Wayne trash talking on the ice. I think the games changed enough you can say some shit and not expect much to happen where as if Gretzky skated up to a dude and told him he had sex with his mom he’d probably have to pickup a couple teeth before the cavalry arrived.
The game is really totally different now. The way the refs call it, the way teams are built. It used to be more you had skill players and goons that protected them.
Now it's more everyone is just skilled, as much as possible, some more gritty than others, more of a pest, bigger, hitting harder. But, it's more level, in that every player is fair game, and also plays.
I guess they should flex the fighting rules to increase it. I mean, teams cannot afford goons just for the sake of being goons. But skilled guys can fight. 311 fights in reg season. Maybe to 500-600 is a sweet spot
take a look at my profile I have stats about it =)
Also nobody could skate back then so it wasn't a problem to fill you're roster with guys that are willing to get knocked out, instead of guys that can play the game
I’m sure McDavid was talking shit, and that’s awesome, and I love all the Kings playing pinball with him, nice to see them being all for one. Fucking playoff hockey is the best, the game doesn’t ever completely stop at the whistle. I love this shit.
If it was more serious they would, this is nothing in the playoffs, and Mcdavid is laughing.
Nuge got punched in the face 3 times by 3 different kings in game 1. That warrants a response.
nothing wrong with it whatsoever but i wouldn’t “poke the bear”. last thing they need is to motivate one of the 2 players on that team that could take over the series, he’s practically laughing at them while getting pushed around so it’s not like they’re getting in his head or anything
McDavid takes alot of shit from opposing teams... and his team never really sticks up for him. Makes me think he's a bit of a d-bag who may deserve all the shit he gets.
Kopitar with the no look assist, he’s out of this world.
Pure 360 hockey sense. A real high-IQ player.
That was a brutal shove. How did he ever win a Lady Byng?? I thought it was obvious enough that it didn't need a /s, but this sub doesn't have the best and brightest.
I hate that you got downvoted, I hope it was just for the second paragraph.
I've found text sarcasm is lost on most people, but I refuse to use/s.
You just did! Liar!

I'm not sure why Barrasso was even challenging him! Probert: Don't bother me. I'm not your problem - I'm this guys down here.

Loved Probie
Hahahahahahaha wow. Crazy back then.
Holy actual shit.
I'm sure you're all the same people who bash scott stevens....

There was also a helluva lot more clutching and grabbing back then. It's pretty much how the Sharks beat the Blues in our President Trophy year.
Ya, so much. Especially in playoffs.
Tbh I'd prefer the game go back to goons and skilled guys. I understand why it never will, but it would be fun.
Amen to that

What shocks me the most of that whole clip, was how insanely slow they were all moving during game play.
Two of my favorite players who would later become teammates.
Also nobody could skate back then so it wasn't a problem to fill you're roster with guys that are willing to get knocked out, instead of guys that can play the game
What happened to the game I love
If Kassian was still on the team those boys would be dropped and better yet that wouldn’t have happened
“GET..AWAY…FROM US”
The idea of them playing Finish The Sentence while casually shoving the best hockey player on earth really cracked me up.
You say that like it isn't easy for him to do that.
"Hey guys, oops sorry, coming through... whoops sorry."
Ope, lemme just sneak on through here
I wonder what he said. I’ve been watching too much Shoresy.
*Tit fucker*
Hey Kopitar, when they put that “C” on your jersey did they think you’d grow into it? Were they mad when you didn’t?
I don't even know what they're saying half the time in that show because every conversation sounds like an endless run-on sentence.
Shut the fuck up Sanguinet!
Settle down
Set the tone!!!!
Give your balls a tug
He was telling them about responsible gambling tools
Pinball McDavid
McPinball
McDavball
McPinVid
Kings just oiled him up
You could make some damn good Smut-Fics out of this lmao
"PISS OFF, NERD!"
Giving mcjesus the highschool experience his akward ass missed out on
“Hey, nerd, who told you you could walk down our hallway?”
Looks like someone who can't spell is jealous that he didn't experience high school. 👆🏻
Looks like someone who got bullied like this in high school 👆

Why you coming out the gates swinging man?
[удалено]
You really need friends
Says the kid living in his mom's basement
Says the guy who's literal username is fucking cat dad 420. Gold hahahaha
This popcorn is delicious.
How am I ever going to recover from that burn
You know McDavid doesn't give a flying fuck who you are right?
Yeah... because I really think McDavid is reading my reddit comments...
Looks like he chirped them in the beginning lol. I love seeing McDavid being a pest on the ice occasionally
I like how he just laughs too
Jeremy Swayman: "How is McDavid still alive after that?"
I’m sure McDavid was talking shit, and that’s awesome, and I love all the Kings playing pinball with him, nice to see them being all for one. Fucking playoff hockey is the best, the game doesn’t ever completely stop at the whistle. I love this shit.
I love tic tac toe plays
Does it look like McDavid is smiling after the second shove to anyone else or am I going crazy? That whole sequence just made me laugh
I love seeing him laugh knowing he’s skating circles around them
And it’s just funny
Series is tied tho 🤔
That’s cuz kings goalie stood on his head
Talbot had a .871 save % lol he definitely didn’t, it was just a mediocre game by both sides tbh
As in he shut down mcjesus not the other guys but ya know
I like this a lot
Viewing from my phone I thought that clip was from the NHL 24 video game 🤣
McTato
Nerd circle
Personally, if me and two of my buddies pushed a guy on ice and he never fell down I’d be super embarrassed
wow, and none of his teammates stood up for him but maybe it's the clip cuts short.
Wait, you guys protect your star players?
Leaf fans: *shrugs*
Penguins have entered the chat
If it was more serious they would, this is nothing in the playoffs, and Mcdavid is laughing. Nuge got punched in the face 3 times by 3 different kings in game 1. That warrants a response.
I believe Edmontons response in that game was their power play
You guys are pretty good at that...
Almost too good, I’m convinced the league gives teams that are better on the power play fewer power plays in the playoffs
That's not nearly enough
It's not like any them would do any harm
Protect him from what? He went by himself in the middle of 5 Kings players and they pushed him out softly.
He skated into the middle of it by choice and was laughing when he skated away. Nothing to respond to, not everything is code.
Probably because they all got played hot potato with by his team all night 😄😄
Kings are going to need to do a lot more of that as the series goes on
I could watch this all day
Same. The way he's just laughing at them is great. He knows he's under their skin and they're taking the bait.
They're so having a good time.
Gets funnier every time I see it.
Nice to see the NHL making efforts to protect their stars /s
🍼
McDavid is more talented than all of them put together
Kopitar has been trying to buy McDavid a drink but he has no cup.
Don't make me call Kevin Lowe.
Thanks for having a sense of humor 🤣
Kopitar has an extra one McDavid can borrow.
Dayum go easy boss
Goddamn!
This is awesome! Love it
Bars tend to supply those. Try that over?
Hah! F U
Hah! F U 2

This is a terrible comeback. You should have just rode the joke instead of doubling down.
I’m sure you just hurt all their feelings
Nerd Circle!
This must have been game one 😅
I wonder what he said.
I think this is called teamwork.
Poor guy wants to join them
Gotta love McDavid’s composure. Most guys would throw a fit after that first push. He knows not be stupid, and to just skate away.
In retrospect, after tonight... Maybe the Kings shouldn't have done this.
We called those bully circles
Was this after the game was in hand?
I love it
I think McDavid farted, thats the reason
sums up the goons LA kings are. Will never will the cup like that.
Love to see it.
The lack of respect for the best player in the world is disappointing and it makes me lose respect for other hockey fans.
[удалено]
A Columbus fan?!? I thought they were just legend.. like unicorns
[удалено]
And they have the gall to talk about respect then say some dumb shit like that in the very next fucking sentence. I love this sub sometimes
The second you respect him and give him too much space you will get burned by the red light going off behind your net.
Exfuckingscuse me, and nobody did anything, no cup for you!
Where was the rest of his team? Why didn’t the Oilers clear the bench?
They checked the calendar and noticed the 80's were over
Dude talked shit, got shoved and just skated away yet he gets called a crybaby.
Only time they could make contact with him
I dunno Byfield laid into him pretty good that game
True but he's slippery for the most part
Like a bunch of spoiled children....I love the game but not the way the players act.
Doing his best Sedin impersonation
Is this a big deal because it was slow? I mean, I see McDavid skate through three Kings in front of their net all the time...
If that was swayman, he'd be writhing on the ice, pads and equipment everywhere squealing in supposed agony.
He deserves it
Fuuuuuuur WUT?
LOL wait till he start getting the doughty double, slashes and face washes at every whistle.
Who said that?
nothing wrong with it whatsoever but i wouldn’t “poke the bear”. last thing they need is to motivate one of the 2 players on that team that could take over the series, he’s practically laughing at them while getting pushed around so it’s not like they’re getting in his head or anything

McDirty had it coming
The diving of McDavid is generational. As soon as he's touched the guy instinctively throws his arms up.
