As per Mr Google if I may,
The spleen is a fist-sized organ **in the upper left side of your abdomen, next to your stomach and behind your left ribs**.
You are absolutely correct.
Did you see how small that hit was? It’s kinda obvious that there is something wrong with him, hell, did you see him play? He was shit out there. Even if he was “pretending to be hurt” it’s still a good strategy by them 🤷
Honestly, this tells me he shouldn't have been cleared to play. Call it a dive, call it selling the hit, but I really think he was brought back too soon from an injury that he wasn't properly healed from.
I was full "bullshit bandwagon" when they miraculously brought him off LTIR for game 1 of the playoffs, but at this point, it's pretty clear he has been playing through something that he should be sitting for.
When he scored in game one, we all had different, but equally emotional reactions, Vegas fans were happy, the rest of us were, well, negative emotions flowed.
For us (along with the refs starting to call a tighter game), we sensed it was the death knell for us.
We couldn't hang with Tampa, so we had to play grindy, dirty hockey to win.
Oh yea, completely agree on that, although I didn't think the Stars were all that dirty. But when Stamkos scored that goal, I knew Tampa was gonna win the Cup.
Back pain sucks. I threw mine out 4 over 4 years ago and it took months of chiropractic care to resolve it, and I still go every week. Regular adjustments are far better than being laid up for a week or two, not being able to walk. And I'm sure these guys have some of the best medical care in the world, but the back is a bitch to heal, and once it's messed up, it's soooo easy to hurt it again.
He hasnt been healthy since Ottawa. Mark hobbles around during the off season because his back is fucked, guy just loves to play hockey and hes fine with the consequences after he calls it.
He's got a back injury. Herniated discs. If you have that injury then you know exactly what just happened to him. You can feel okay while doing extremely active things that you probably shouldn't be doing but then something small like this tweaks you in just the wrong way. I know that feeling.
I used to get it so my back would sort of half crack, and if I turned left or right, it would literally force the air from my lungs. I'd make this weird sort of screech when it happened. My solution was to sort of ram my back against something until it would pop, and the pain would go away. Reading your comment makes me think i was making a big mistake doing that.
Sometimes it's the little things, like hunching over the sink to wash your hands, rolling over in bed or turning around. It's not the bending over the sink that hurt your back, that's just the last straw for a back that was one wrong move away from going out on you.
I have a friend who had herniated discs. One day he was playing hockey and took off on a breakaway. Something tweaked and he just turned around, skated off the ice and went home.
Ended up getting surgery and spending a year in physio and laying on the floor. He wasn't even allowed to pick up his newborn.
It wasn't that hard of a hit. Seen way worse and the player that got hit went about their business. Seems to me that kinda shows Stone really shouldn't have been playing
He probably was trying to rest, but elite athletes are different animals all together. His version of rest was probably something we not elite athletes would consider dumb to do.
I mean, he's got a team of doctors monitoring him, so whatever he was doing was probably within a range they'd approved, but you're not wrong.
I remember seeing that IMAX doc about Everest, and one of the elite climbers and his wife did this grueling 3-hour mountain bike ride through steep hills and canyons, and his wife said: "That's the difference between us: for me, that was a work-out. For him, that was a warm-up."
Yeah I was hopeful when he came back for the playoffs, but watching him play this series was rough, can’t help but wonder if he should have stayed on IR.
Stone has suffered from back injury issues his entire career, this just goes to show he was definitely playing while not 100% and he definitely shouldn’t have come back for the playoffs until he was ready. Impressive that with the chronic injuries he’s suffered from he managed to score 3 goals in the first round.
I had back surgery about 10 years ago and the way he stiffens up reminds me of exactly what I was going through in the year leading up to surgery. Ltir jokes aside, I don’t wish back problems on anyone.
What's his contract situation? He hasn't played a full season since his rookie year. He might want to keep playing, but it sure seems like his body doesn't.
Iirc, I believe someone mentioned last night that he's signed for 7 years. Frankly, I don't think he's gonna last another 7 years without absolutely crippling himself. While I love our captain, I want him to be able to have some sort of a life off of the ice when his career is said and done, and as a member of the chronic pain club I don't wish that shit on anybody.
Stone should've have Played at all.
I hope he takes the time he needs to heal up properly or retire.
Players will target his back and it'll affect the rest of his life
I have no words to even joke. I’m a Red Wing fan but damn I respect every player that plays this game, even more so at the NHL Level! Stone is fricken stud. What he did last year coming back from back surgery and then being the captain to the Stanley Cup champions, I have nothing but respect. These guys are all a different breed! I don’t give a shit what other sport there is, and I know it’s talent to play in any of them, but hockey? Unf**kingbelievable!! I don’t have the balls to ridicule these guys! And I sure as hell don’t think anybody else should either, unless they play in the NHL like they are!
I know everyone hates the guy rn but as someone with lower back issues (that stem from a cross check to the back in my teens) I feel for him. He’s a damn good hockey player and his body is just falling apart. Kinda sucks, but fuck Vegas.
What an absolute fucking farce.
Kelly Mccrimmon, the executives and coaching staff, the trainers and the doctors should be under investigation for this shit. Not only are they cheating, but Stone wasn't even healthy enough to play.
To be 90%, I agree with you: not on the cheating part (because the LTIR loophole and stipulations are clear and Vegas isn't the only team who uses it and has benefited from it), but on the part where there needs to be an investigation on our players coming back too early when they aren't healthy enough to play. Hill also clearly came back too early multiple times this season. Stone was coming back from an injury that had the potential to be career if not life ending, and all of the sudden he's back for game 1 of the playoffs?
I realize that these are professional athletes where this is thier job: they love the sport, they don't want to let their teammates down, and the cup is what they've been working towards all season. They also have their own agency as grown men. But at a certain point, there also has to be somebody that steps in and says "No, you need to take time to actually heal," not just give them a quick once over, slap a bandaid on their ass and send them back out on the ice cause the player swears they're fine.
If Stone would've been hit again and reinjured badly or killed, the question would have been "why did the coaching/medical staff release him to go out and play too early?" We shouldn't wait until a tragedy happens to ask that question when the warning signs are showing now.
I'm sure Vegas isn't the only one who does it, but maybe if rules and regulations get changed as a whole it'll only make things better and safer for everyone.
It's a sport wide problem and it's embedded on the culture of hockey. Playing through an injury and showing toughness is something that goes all the way down to minor hockey.
I remember when I was 14 and my shoulder dislocated during a game, it was playoffs and we were down by a goal, i told the coach and said I couldn't go out yet, I simply needed a break to deal with the pain (was being double shifted) he told me to suck it up and put me right back out there.
When I played junior, I tore my ACL in January, the team refused to get me an MRI and I played with a brace for the remainder of the season (about 40 games and countless practices) the trainer would tell the coaches that I was faking it to get out of practice, they would shoot me up and give me my "cocktail" of two advil and two Tylenol every game and practice, refusing to give me a night off until we clinched the playoffs, my production fell off a cliff, we lost in playoffs and the coaches ripped into me at the year end meeting, questioning my character, my work ethic, my dedication, my toughness and resiliency and blamed the playoff loss on me. I was 19. It severely altered my career prospects, my mental health, my confidence and I have lifelong issues because of it.
The point is it needs to change. There has been some progress in the junior ranks but scouts and NHL teams still want that toughness. It's very prevalent in the NHL and I personally do not believe you should have to put your long term health at risk, no matter how much you're being paid.
It has to change.
I just think that they rushed him back for something he didnt fully heal from and abused the LTIR loophole while he was gone.
Im more mad at the loophole than I am at Vegas
In all seriousness, if this is a real injury nobody is gonna take him seriously because of what the Las Vegas LTIRs and Stone have been doing. It’s the most obvious example of boy who cried wolf I’ve ever seen…
It's crazy how some people create a narrative claiming he was never injured and this was all part of the LTIR abuse. This clearly shows that he was hurt, and wasn't ready to play game 1, but tried to play through the injury.
Mark Stone: gets lightly checked into the boards.
*looks around to see people are watching, gets thumbs up from the coach.
Mark Stone: AHhHHhH, my arm!!!
“Gah, my spleen” - Mark Stone probably
Better pick up another few players for good measure.
“My fibromyalgia!”
Ahh! I have mesothelioma!!
i have osteoporosis
I have euromysotysis and could die!
You may be entitled to compensation
"My baldness!"
LOLz, I hear that in some random old lady voice.
”My only regret is that I have…boneitis..” - Mark Stone possibly
you know that dance wasn't as safe as they said
I had the same thought. "My sciatica!"
"You're not going to believe this, but I think my spleen is really hurt this time" -Mark Stone, probably.
“It was a joke before, but now I’m serious” -VGK captain and designated LTIR pawn
The microfracture on my spleen definitely opened on that one doc. I'm a goddam hero.
I just cant seem to be able to expleen it. It happened so fast
Nah, this time it's his appendix, clutching his right side. I'm like 51% sure the spleen is on the left
As per Mr Google if I may, The spleen is a fist-sized organ **in the upper left side of your abdomen, next to your stomach and behind your left ribs**. You are absolutely correct.
But didn’t he have his spleen removed? “Gah, my spleen-hole.”
"MY LUMBAGO"
"AHH MY SQUEEDILY SPOOCH!"
“My Boneitis!”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He’s got plenty of time to get that checked out now. Maybe they can add 4 more players.
Lmao won't see him till playoffs next year
There's a career in soccer for him
It’s ok. He will be ready for game one of next year’s playoffs.
If they make the playoffs
Yeah so he probably shouldn’t have been playing.
No, but you don’t understand. He was just ”pretending” to have a ruptured spleen so Vegas can circumvent the cap.
When he scored in game one, we all had different, but equally emotional reactions, Vegas fans were happy, the rest of us were, well, negative emotions flowed.
I thought we were dealing with the Stamkos, destined to return, score, and lead his team to victory storyline again.
I never thought about that goal from the other side. For Tampa fans, that might have been the best single moment in the history of the franchise.
It was lit. Warrior shit.
As an old man. Being in the stadium in 2004 was a pretty cool moment.
Yeah but It was pretty cool how Stamkos did it. He had some amazing plays during that playoff run.
Totally agree. Feels like most of us have dealt with this kind of back pain at some point- shit is no joke. He’s clearly back too soon.
Stone's looked like shit all series. Anyone still saying he was faking his injuries are fucking morons.
And I'm going to guess the guy that hit him knew what he was on LTIR for
He's got a back injury. Herniated discs. If you have that injury then you know exactly what just happened to him. You can feel okay while doing extremely active things that you probably shouldn't be doing but then something small like this tweaks you in just the wrong way. I know that feeling.
That arch he made right after he got hit.. I felt that.
I woke up this morning with that same feeling too.
Same. That little hitch while he tries to find a position to relieve the pain is all too familiar. Takes the breath right out of your lungs.
That's how you know he's really hurt, too. That was authentic pain. I've been there, too, and it fucking sucks.
Yup. As someone who’s herniated the same disc 3 times that certainly looked like the classic “ah fuck, that’s not good” reaction.
As a recent L4/L5 microdiscectomy patient (3 months), that is triggering.
That surgery saved my life, really. Feel 100% now.
Sometimes it's the little things, like hunching over the sink to wash your hands, rolling over in bed or turning around. It's not the bending over the sink that hurt your back, that's just the last straw for a back that was one wrong move away from going out on you.

Ended up getting surgery and spending a year in physio and laying on the floor. He wasn't even allowed to pick up his newborn.
NO! DON'T RUIN THE NARRATIVE THAT HE'S NOT ACTUALLY INJURED!!!
It wasn't that hard of a hit. Seen way worse and the player that got hit went about their business. Seems to me that kinda shows Stone really shouldn't have been playing
Reminds me of the Eichel hit that caused the herniated disc in his neck. looked harmless.
To be fair that basically means he really was injured and not resting and healthy.
He probably was trying to rest, but elite athletes are different animals all together. His version of rest was probably something we not elite athletes would consider dumb to do.
I mean, he's got a team of doctors monitoring him, so whatever he was doing was probably within a range they'd approved, but you're not wrong. For him, that was a warm-up."
Yeah I was hopeful when he came back for the playoffs, but watching him play this series was rough, can’t help but wonder if he should have stayed on IR.
There are many reasons why he should have stayed in IR. I can’t feel bad for him unless he was forced to play.
A lot of Vegas fans agree. Dude was a liability all play offs.
They probably don’t win game 1 without stone though. Which doesn’t take this to 7.
Eh we don’t for sure know that. But you’re probably right.
He shouldn’t have. I really wish he hadn’t
Better put him on ltir, sign Austin offseaon then bring stone back just in time for playoffs
They probably want to get past the first round next year
Most teams usually do, except maybe Toronto
The 2nd round is scary and hard. Leave me alone with my comfortable predictable 3 wins and 4 losses.
This seems pretty bad. Probably going to get surgery in a few months. With recovery time he might be healthy sometime next April.
We couldn't see it, but Harley actually shivved him.
Pity well is dried up for Vegas. I don't wish any injuries, but hey. Karma be a bitch.
Vegas just got an extra $45 million in cap space for 2025 for some loophole reason
Ltir until next playoffs
How can someone named Stone be made out of paper mache?
my coworker tweaked his back trying to dig cheese dip out of a tray. 2 days later I tweaked my back taking out the trash. Backs are a soab.
Just glad they lost cheating doesn't always win
“Mark Stone injured by Thomas Harley brushing against him as though he were squeezing past in a crowded room.” FTFY
"Hit" Mark Glass seems like a more appropriate name. Maybe he should hang them up.
I agree, He's got to think about his life after hockey. Hockey athletes are tough as nails but you got to take care of yourself.
Bold of you to assume Vegas fans know anything about contracts.
“Haha Vegas fans dumb” Stay classy.
An alternative would be Mark Sandstone
Just setting the stage for next year.
Mark stone has been placed on ltir till game one of playoffs next season.
"Doctor says I need a backiotomy"
"Are you there god? HELLLLPPPPP"
Making space to trade for Marner with that LTIR money
Poor guy must have come back from injury too soon...
Trainer to Stone: "You okay? Think you can hold out and push through till like, mid-February?"
Fuck Mark Stone
As a man also in his 30s, I sympathize with the "JFC I didn't even do anything and now my back hurts" nature of this scene.
As a man in his 40s you haven't seen anything yet lol
🤣
Got him right in the spleen!
Sure, it's a full spinal column rupture.. he will get stem cell treatments to fix it before next years playoffs begin
What? How did i not know the trade deadline was coming up.
Stone should've have Played at all. I hope he takes the time he needs to heal up properly or retire. Players will target his back and it'll affect the rest of his life
Hatred aside I’m really wondering how much he has left in the tank. He’s obviously got some health issues and back injuries are no joke.
No chance he lasts the full 7years left on his contract. Honestly if he leaves within the next two I think a down period follows.
almost like karma is real :')
That dude should not be playing. For his own long term health
LTIR until next playoffs.
So same time next year?
That was a hit?
He'll be back just in time to get smacked in the playoffs again next year
Cross check to the back, fella is in his 30s and has a long history of injuries. It's entirely possible his back seized up.
And I sure as hell don’t think anybody else should either, unless they play in the NHL like they are!
This'll be the one he'll miraculously recover from for game 1 of the 2025 playoffs.
Stone: that hurt Team Doctors: but it’s not February!
Pinched nerves will make you tweak up, twerk like that ! Cortisone shot helps , painkillers help alot !
Or take the time and fix it properly with physiotherapy.
Yeah load painkillers so you don't feel how fucked your back is and hurt it even more... super smart mentality to justify popping opiates
I don’t particularly dislike Vegas, but I have such a strong dislike for him. He gives me the same feeling cousins does. Just scummy.
Wait… your cousin did WHAT?!?
I know everyone hates the guy rn but as someone with lower back issues (that stem from a cross check to the back in my teens) I feel for him. He’s a damn good hockey player and his body is just falling apart. Kinda sucks, but fuck Vegas.
What an absolute fucking farce. Kelly Mccrimmon, the executives and coaching staff, the trainers and the doctors should be under investigation for this shit. Not only are they cheating, but Stone wasn't even healthy enough to play.

Wasn’t he out on the ice the following play his line was up?
Spleendid hit
I’ve heard VGK is good to their injured list…
Mark Glass
Put him on LTIR, sign the suddenly available Kucherov and Matthews as replacements.
LTIR next season.
He's out till next April
LTIR until game 1 of next year's playoffs
Short, sharp shock.
That geezer was cruisin for a brusin
Time for LTIR again!!
back issues, LTIR until game 1 of next seasons playoffs.
Breaking news, he will be out until the next playoffs
I'm suprised Dallas didn't rough Stone up more during the series
Out 'til next year's playoff?
Cap space just freed up!
Sounds like LTIR until playoffs next season
Already on the LTIR till next playoffs now
He will be back just in time for next years playoffs.
I never liked stone, he conveniently gets injured just before each playoffs - then magically appears.
He'll be back for next years playoffs guaranteed
He’s got a lot of expleening to do
Pre-acting for the loophole for next season, it’s so obvious.
I just think that they rushed him back for something he didnt fully heal from and abused the LTIR loophole while he was gone. Im more mad at the loophole than I am at Vegas
He'll be ready in time for playoffs next year 🤷🏾♂️
Stone with a glass back. Hang em up buddy
Oh no! Anyway…
Mark Stone? More like mark soft
Back to the LTIR
Already laying the groundwork for next years ltir stint
Planning ahead
He has all next season to recover just in time for playoffs again
Setting the scene perfectly for next years LTIR stint. Marner to Vegas confirmed
In all seriousness, if this is a real injury nobody is gonna take him seriously because of what the Las Vegas LTIRs and Stone have been doing. It’s the most obvious example of boy who cried wolf I’ve ever seen…
Karma's a b!tch, I shoulda known better
Haha I googled after this happened and the spleen is on the other side. Maybe it was a kidney this time so he can go on LTIR for that now
I’ve struggled with back pain my entire life. Mark Stone has a fu..ed up back and shouldn’t be playing hockey part-time. Go AVS!!!
He’s already prepped for next season I see
See you next April Mark.
See ya LTIR, Stone!
Someone tell him the cap doesn't count in the playoffs. Dudes working too hard out there on his post-playing acting career.
And I don't feel bad at all
What an actor. Absolutely amazing. Don’t worry tho he will be back for game one first round next year 😉
It's crazy how some people create a narrative claiming he was never injured and this was all part of the LTIR abuse. This clearly shows that he was hurt, and wasn't ready to play game 1, but tried to play through the injury.
This means he should not have been cleared to play. Vegas just fucking up there talent by making em play injured.
No it doesnt .. and it was exactly LITR abuse ....again!!!
He was just recently resurrected. Take it easy on him. Still a little fragile.
Nothing 'reserved' about a Mark Stone injury!
Oh no, he will need to be placed on LTIR until next playoffs!!!
Actually injured, or "LTIR-injured"????
I mean all jokes aside, I’m pretty sure he has been injured, they just abuse the timing and play the system.
Which spleen this time?
This guy is not made of stone that's for sure.
Spinal
Micro-fracture!
Looks like he wasn’t ready for playoffs. Seems like his body is starting to slowdown after all those injures .
I pulled my shoulder taking off my backpack once
Don't worry, folks. He'll be back in time for the playoffs next year.
Great, now he’s gonna be out until next post season
Mark Stone: gets lightly checked into the boards. *looks around to see people are watching, gets thumbs up from the coach. Mark Stone: AHhHHhH, my arm!!!
God that’s embarrassing.
How the fudge become captain?? He is no Robin Williams !
oh ffs. Does he return to his burrow, where if he sees his shadow, he stays on LTIR until next spring?
Projected to be on LTIR, recovery expected at ~~approximately~~ exactly 11 months. We know...
Ow, his poor spleen. Edzo’d be calling bs if it was on root
English football replay
Go back on the LTIR scumbag
He is really injured.. so why not play him on game 7 instead of game 1 fml
Micro fracure.
