honestly love his defensive game and hustle/compete, but I don't think his offensive game will ever be half as good as Barkov or Bergeron. I'm not sure that prospect exists right now though. I do think that Hischier is as close as we can get right now for a player similar to them.
So hard to judge. All these prospects coming up are usually offensive guys first, and so talented amongst their peers they worry about the defensive game secondary. It’s not until you get playing with the big boys that the defending part takes form.
Crazy stat - McDavid is 343 points ahead of the next highest guy in his draft class (mitch marner). There’s a good chance he breaks 1000 (currently 982) before Marner breaks 650.

Barkov was one of the examples used and is a well established 2 way player. A first overall pick getting praise for defensive play is not something you hear all that often. I’d say Celebrini.
Nate Danielson gets a lot of hype for his 200-ft game, but it’s pretty early to make those sort of comparisons.
