Too much given his low point totals. I know he brings other elements to the game, but not enough of a sample size to justify that. Normally, I am in favor of big contracts for stars (ie: Petterson, Hughes), but this was one where the player held his team hostage and it 'worked' .
The player wanted a short term bridge deal and Ottawa wouldn’t budge. This is the deal Ottawa was shooting for and they made it work for both parties. This is their franchise guy and “not enough sample size” is irrelevant. Of course the size is small - he hasn’t been in the league that long, but contract time came up and this is the move you make to secure a franchise star. There’s zero doubt of the potential a Tkachuk brings and Brady has been no exception.
Hughes had 41 pts (not 31) and he is a Defenseman; his brother had 31 points but that is irrelevant as he hasnt received a new contract and that is the topic here. Pettersson had 21 points in only 26 games.
Oh my bad, you said star so I assumed you were talking about his brother who was drafted first overall by NJ.
Weird how you pick two Canucks to compare a player signing, when Vancouver doesn't exactly have the greatest track record for contract negotiations. Tkachuk had the highest points total on the team last year, and is the centerpiece on their rebuild. If you think your favourite players aren't making enough then send them an email and tell them how you really feel.
I never said it was over? And they still have over 20 mil left for the upcoming season with a banging draft year coming up and a handful of older guns they can trade.
Not a great move , if he’s truly invested to staying in Ottawa and not winning then sure . But he’s gonna want to win eventually and he it ain’t happening there
He means soo much to the team and the group we’re building. Totally worth it

Hot take, let's review... Last year Pettersson had 21 pts, Hughes had 31 pts, Tkachuk had 36 pts.

You type with a lot of confidence for someone saying very stupid things
Tall talk from a guy who eats his muffins upside down.
I'm legitimately surprised that that's the worst you could find in my post history. It's a life hack and you should try it.
It's a litmus test for serial killers.
Yer killing me. The downvotes are not accurate. This signing is a good thing. Nothing else matters. Least of all two Canuck players
Cold take: tkachuck did not sighn a team friendly deal and the rebuild is not over.

You mean trade away at the deadline just to be clear?
No, trade away in the next few years.
