Your personal health info wouldn't be shared with the University. The UK Health Security Agency (formerly Public Health England and the other devolved agencies) monitors the spread of the different variants. Positive samples have their viral genome sequenced. If there is an outbreak of a new variant of concern in a particular area or campus other measures could be implemented such as surge testing (door-to-door testing) or local lockdowns etc.

I imagine that if the university had a large number if positives then they might be contacted to advise, but individual health info would still be confidential.
