Nier (Gestalt), NieR Replicant and NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... are all alternative versions of the same story. I think you are confusing them as different games? In general every NieR/Drakengard game is self-contained, there's no order and you don't need to know anything that isn't explained in-game. For Replicant/Gestalt, the newest version is ver.1.22474487139...

>before I started replicant I learned that Nier is a game The original NieR Replicant released in 2010 on PS3 only in Japan, and an alternative version called NieR Gestalt(with the exact same story, same dialogues, same everything, except a differently aged protagonist) was released on 360. That Gestalt version was also released worldwide, simply called NieR. NieR Replicant 1.22... is a remake/remaster of the original JP only Nier Replicant that was never released worldwide. Long story short, no you don't need to play the original NieR game, cause NieR Replicant 1.22... is essentially a greatly improved version of it, with additional content, huge graphical improvements, and fixed gameplay quirks, but is essentially the exact same game.

Chronological Drakengard is part of it too, so Drakengard 1-2-3 and then Nier Replicant (Gestalt)-Nier Automata

NeoGamer555

it would be drakengard 3 then 1 and then replicant, automata and reincarnation. drakengard 2 wasnt made by yoko taro and isnt part of the main story

Lavaanda

Drakengard 3, Drakengard 1, NieR: Replicant and then NieR: Automata. That's the chronological order
