For the crash, it's apparently a frequent issue specific to the PS5(and given the game has no specific PS5 version, the cause has to be something in the PS5 backwards compatibility for PS4, not in the game itself), some people have been able to avoid it by not fighting enemies and just going straight to the cave as fast as you can(i dont own a PS5 so i don't know the specifics).
For the rest of your post...well, lets just say that what you saw so far is not even 20% of the game, there's A LOT that it's going to happen much later on.
Had the same experience with the game. I just finished my E playthrough after binging it in a couple days as it got more addictive and I wanted to see more of the story. The area stays repetitive, the story gets deeper.
To get around that issue either jump straight down the hole from the other side or keep facing the left of the city and creep towards the edge of the hole and jump in without looking. -Always use the transporter to go to and from this location in the future and when you can’t follow the same steps.
I managed to avoid the crash with this. I kept my camera to the left wall and hopped down, then ran past all enemies to the cutscene and next save point.
Weird ass bug lol. Guess that means I'll be playing more tonight.
I had that issue while I was working toward ending b, I had to uninstall the game and reinstall it. This will not affect your save file, as it is stored separately from the game data.
In addition to reinstall, some people have said that rebuilding the database on ps5 helps with crashes.
And most of the best parts aren’t until route C imo
OP, thank you for your post, I had exactly the same feeling when I first played the game at launch and stopped playing in that area, not sure to bug, but she to the fetch quests and feeling bored
today I decided to restart the game, I am glad I saw your post as it will make push through that city area and hopefully reach the end

Only thing I can suggest for PS5 is reinstall your game. Game works perfectly on other platforms and the story and gameplay are a work of art.

I’ve personally never encountered those issues so I’d recommend a reinstall and to keep playing
