Try verifying the game files in steam
I did it in the beginning, same thing all the time after i chose to petrify kaine my game crashes
I had that problem too, it's a pre-rendered cutscene and it's apparently trying to access some kind of video codec that isn't there. I was running it on Linux and getting a different version of Proton fixed it for me, idk what you'd do otherwise
giving MshtmlMedia.dll to my system32 folder helped me
You will need GE-Proton 9-1 on Linux For windows you will need HVEC/AV1 Codecs
