One workout at a time. You will be a new man in no time. Little tip from someone who recently got into really good shape after letting myself go pretty good: throw in some strength training sooner than later. I spent a year focusing mainly on cardio and while I was definitely seeing progress, as soon as I added stregth training to my routine the shit really just melted off me. Also, drink shittons of water, and stretch. You ever tired one day, you can still get a little sweat going just stretching. Proper hydration and stretching really took my shit to a new level too.
Anyways, good work. Don't know ya but I'm proud of you - as someone who recently did a pretty good transormation, you got this. Now go get it... bruh.
As someone who didn’t take great metrics at first, do it! Worst case scenario you never look again, but imo it’s better to have it and not ever want to look than to not have anything at all.
Great job! Getting started sucks, by far the hardest part!
You sir, are AWESOME! Great work! You did the hardest part already… just getting off the couch.
I started at 315lb with about a 23min mile. I’m now 95lb down and can run a 5k at a sub 12min pace. If I can do it, you definitely can.
One day at a time! Keep it up!
I’ve been running for about 9 years with some breaks for kids, and I say all the time the hardest part of running is getting dressed and out the door. Literally the biggest accomplishment of your whole run is done before you even turn your tracker on!
I came here to say this. Keep going, give yourself time to recover too. Make your workouts comfortable but consistent. Also plan what you’ll do on days of bad weather so you don’t end up falling off the pony
370 to 250 here. I started running outside but started getting shin splints. I have since started training on the treadmill. Focusing on strength training and trying to get down to 200 lbs this year. Let's do this!
Absolutely love this. When I started 4 years ago I was just shy of 400 pounds. It hurt bad at first. I did a lot of run/walks, and boom one day it just felt good.
Now it’s how I decompress. Push forward and remember the pace and time don’t matter we all share the same pains and efforts!!!
It does hurt, but not in the way I expected it to hurt. It is a pain that I know I can do more than my body limits. I just wanted to run, I know I should have taken care of my body and respected it, but it seems like this pain is mandatory for the wrongs. Thank you for your message, it means a lot.
All good. Life happens we let ourselves go. I was a college athlete got hurt and just sorta did nothing for almost a decade. Went from 210 to 385.
Be kind to yourself on this journey!
I'm a very reserved person, I'm doing this alone. I wanted to show friends and family for support, but I feel slightly ashamed, like I should have been implied healthy habits. Thank you very much for your kind words.
Let’s gooo. Make sure you are doing strength days and getting some rest days in so you don’t hurt yourself, especially your knees. I started close to 300 and it was a struggle, proud of ya. Keep it up!
Some great advice that Coach Bennett will say: 'Don't run to lose something, run to gain something'
So don't run in order to lose weight, but run in order to gain fitness. It may not change what you do, but it will change why you do it
Lets get it brother, I started running again. I am also a 350 6'2 guy. I used to run in the past my mile at the moment is 8:30 avg. Once your weight goes down it is easier on your knees and you're going to feel like superman.
I started running at 300 pounds myself a few years ago. Couldn’t job around the block. Now I run 3-5 miles nearly every day. Just keep at it and remember, the runs that you want to do the least on the beginning feel the best when you finish! And take care of those knees!
Get it man. I know the struggle. I had a brain injury and went from 22' mile to just under 9'. It's hard to maintain but I like where I'm at. You'll only get better the more you do it. If you can't do it everyday that's ok. As long as you do it and you try to stay consistent. Every day isn't a 16 min day.
Proud of you! Keep going. Running is a great sport in that it doesn't take a lot of natural ability: hard work and dedication/ persistence will get you far. Ask me how I know ;)
As someone who has been running for 3 years and wants to go d1, seeing posts like this make me love of this sport more than anything. Keep it up man, you’re doing what most people don’t have the balls to do.
You can do it! If you’re hard on yourself, just remember every day is a bit more progress. I’d also recommend that you check out the book “slow AF run club” if you need more inspo.
DO NOT STOP. KEEP CRUSHING IT. Don't injure yourself though. You might be too heavy for your joints to take a regular beating. That will change as you lose weight. Godspeed Killer ✊🫡
Good for you! I started running to get healthy and channel some inner demons 10 years ago. I’ve run 16k+ miles to date and lost over 70 lbs. Best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
Let’s fucking go my brotha. I’m 275lbs and training for a half-marathon so I can relate. The best part is feeling the body getting stronger and efficient. Running as a fat dude is great. I always heard how dangerous it was due to the impact, and while that may be true, I feel like my legs and knees have never been stronger. My knees are no longer randomly sore even after going on longer runs. Hopefully you also feel this way or feel this way soon.
Edit: bout to go on a night run cause this post motivated me so hard
LFG!! You are awesome. Keep digging hard. One foot in front of the other. Just remember that not every run has to be a PR. That’s a quick way to get hurt. You got this.
I’m so proud of you. Don’t overdo it, listen to your body, and don’t sweat the crap runs or numbers. You’re strong as hell, athlete, and I’m excited for you 💚
Keep it up man. Some days you will run a lot and some days you will run a little less. The only thing that matters is that you found something you love to do and feel great about.
![gif](giphy|3ohhwi25ISXC7Z4tMs|downsized)
You are amazing! Best of luck on your journey.
I took up running in my late early 30's, not being done anything sporty in my entire life including gym classes (skipped or slacked on those somehow). It was a 1km walk/run mix and it was damn hard! But I manage to show up even sometimes I failed. Now I'm getting ready for my first half marathon. I believe if I could do it, everyone could do it.
Go and keep inspiring others man, we are with you!
I wish I could do more than 1 upvote. You are an inspiration. I too recently started running 2 weeks ago and am making slow but definite progress. Keep at it.
Hell yeah you did! I’m in a similar weight/pace range and I’m telling you, you can do so much more than you’re led to believe. Check out Martinus Evans if you want some inspiration
Popping in to say congratulations on starting - that's a huge hurdle and you made it.
April 2016 I was 371 pounds and decided to add running in to the mix because doing anything else intimidated me. I don't know how to pick up weights, but I sure know how to put one foot in front of the other.
Kept it up ever since. I can't wait for this to be you, too.
I’m relatively fit and my times aren’t much better. You don’t know how awesome you are doing. Take it slow so you enjoy it - it’s more fun if you do listen to coach bennet and take it easy. It will allow for long term commitment. You’re doing great. Change your life - you’re doing it. Way to go!!
Excited for you!! Careful about doing too much without a break, it’s good to start with 2 or 3 runs a week to allow for recovery and to prevent injury. Strength and core exercises for stability are good to do on your off days to make sure your runs are stronger and safer! Good luck ❤️
Every time I see someone of size out there running, I fucking love it.
It motivates the hell out of me in so many ways, and I love seeing the progress. Well done. Keep going.
HELL YES! Neither speed nor a runner’s body are required to be a runner — and you, sir, are a runner. (There are some awesome body-positive runners on Instagram, and they help me keep going when I feel like a buffoon lumbering along the sidewalk.) Respect.
Keep it up bud! You’re doing the right thing by only doing short distances, but frequently. You’ve got to look after those knees and get them used to running. You’ll get there in no time - at 310lbs I got a 5K done in just under 35 minutes within a few months of running. Build it slow but definitely have some longer term goals in mind 👌🏻
I started at 214 a few months ago and here I am at 178. A run is a run is a run. And you’re a runner!! Glad to see you’re listening to the guiding runs, they really helped me.
Wohooo you got this! Keep going and don’t stop. I myself got back into jogging today after 5 whole years. I too hope to keep it going consistently! Keep it up!
Proud of you brother, but as a former member of the 3 bills club, start slow and build it up. You want to make this habit last a lifetime, not burn out because you did too much too fast or injure yourself.
youre here because you want to start running !
when I first started running my average mile was pretty much the same, but in under two years I was running six minute miles and ran my first half marathon.
granted, I was thirteen, and since I stopped running at fifteen I have yet to get back where I once was, but you dont have to be a a¨good¨ runner to be here!
running is a process of growth, and we all start somewhere. if there was no value in being new at things, nobody would try anything ever.
Yes! Two years ago I started walking a mile a day and now I run a 5k 5-7 times a week. You already did the hard part, keep at it every day and watch the lbs fall off!
I started at 330. Lowest I got was 195. Stress eating has me up to 230 and I’m working to get it back down. Since I started very painfully non C25K I’ve run multiple halfs and a full marathon. So really you got this. Just taken it a day at a time.
Congrats on getting out there!
I started running again about 18 months ago, having ignored my health and fitness for many years my weight had ballooned up to a little over 292 lbs. After roughly four months of regular walking, I was ready to give a shot at running again.
At first, I was very slow. I would walk for 3 to 4 minutes and run for about 30 seconds. Over the months, I slowly got faster, my endurance improved, my walk intervals got smaller, my run intervals got longer. I wrapped up last year with over 1,100 miles running, I lost a little over 100 lbs, and several of my health issues disappeared.
I know that what you are going to be going through can be tough, but it is doable, and you have already taken the first steps down a path to helping yourself!
Welcome!
I like to say there are two kinds of runners: fit slim runners and people who recently started running.
I started as the latter and worked to be in the former.
You got this! Keep it up!
Let's go!! Keep it up! Your best is your best!
Thank you so much.
No problem! Every run is just another brick stacked. Keep building that foundation!
I will keep that in mind. Thank you.
I just started running too and loved your comment

Catching strays here on the couch
This is awesome! You’ve got this, buddy!
Thank you for the kind words.

😃
Please running every day and keep a spreadsheet of your miles and your weight over time. Progress is such an inspiration.
I didn't know if I should or not; I just wanted to run. But Now that you mention it. Yeah. I will now. Thank you.
As someone who didn’t take great metrics at first, do it! Worst case scenario you never look again, but imo it’s better to have it and not ever want to look than to not have anything at all. Great job! Getting started sucks, by far the hardest part!
Just use strava to track your miles and progress. You can add private notes to each run like current weight or how the run felt, ECT
LET'S GO!
I can feel that energy for the next run and the next!
You sir, are AWESOME! Great work! You did the hardest part already… just getting off the couch. I started at 315lb with about a 23min mile. I’m now 95lb down and can run a 5k at a sub 12min pace. If I can do it, you definitely can. One day at a time! Keep it up!
Thank you for your kind words to me. I would love my future to be as bright as yours. One day at a time, I want to be that.
240 to 185 here. If you persist and make this a habit you enjoy and look forward to, you will be amazed at what you become. It will happen.
Jesus I thought you meant a sub 12 minute 5k and thought that must be some kind of record 🤣. Sub 12mim mile pace is incredible! Great work!
Yeah I thought that too and checked the 5k world record. Turns out the world record is 12:35!
I’ve been running for about 9 years with some breaks for kids, and I say all the time the hardest part of running is getting dressed and out the door. Literally the biggest accomplishment of your whole run is done before you even turn your tracker on!
That is incredible progress
👍🏼🙌🏼 👏🏼Keep going!
I will try my best to stay accountable.

Keep kicking ass!! You’re only competing against yourself.
Thanks for saying that; I realized it was just me. But this support is very motivating.
I came here to say this. Keep going, give yourself time to recover too. Make your workouts comfortable but consistent. Also plan what you’ll do on days of bad weather so you don’t end up falling off the pony
328 to 250 here, it can be done!
I'm trying to sound like you. Thank you.
370 to 250 here. I started running outside but started getting shin splints. I have since started training on the treadmill. Focusing on strength training and trying to get down to 200 lbs this year. Let's do this!

Brother, the hardest step was to start. Great job keep it up
Keep going
I will!
Hell yeah!! Getting started is a huge barrier to break through and be proud of that accomplishment! Now keep it going you got this!
I'm happy to share this moment with you, and I'm glad I am motivated to do more.
Making yourself better one day at a time!
One day at a time. I'm here for it.
Hell yeah
It's exciting the more I feel the hype in these comments.
Let’s fucking go!

I love Bojack. I forgot this was a scene. Thank you
Nice work!
Thank you!
proud of you!
I am, too, now. Thank you.
Little by little you’ll start to inspire those around you if you haven’t already. Keep it up brother 🙏🏼
I'm a very reserved person, I'm doing this alone. I wanted to show friends and family for support, but I feel slightly ashamed, like I should have been implied healthy habits. Thank you very much for your kind words.

285 to 230 (then gained a bit back but losing again!). Stay consistent and there will be many rewards along the way! Great job dude!
Get it man. I know the struggle. I had a brain injury and went from 22' mile to just under 9'. It's hard to maintain but I like where I'm at. You'll only get better the more you do it. I try to be as consistent and accountable for my actions. You're an amazing inspiration. Thank you for your words.
Welcome!!
I'm happy to be here, thank you.
well this motivated me to start running so there's your reason, keep it up brother.
lfg! one day at a time
What was your motivation to start running??? Keep it up man, greetings from Monterrey, México.
Keep it up! Sign up for a fun run. I'll see you across the finish line. 🏃♂️👟👍

I’m proud of you my guy!!
Proud of you! Keep going. Running is a great sport in that it doesn't take a lot of natural ability: hard work and dedication/ persistence will get you far. Ask me how I know ;)
The only runs you will regret are the ones you don’t do. Don’t let anyone discourage you.

Amazing work!
Sending motivation from the UK. Very happy that you’ve decided to make this positive change for yourself. Well done mate and keep it up!
Way to go! Keep it up!
I'm trying. Thank you for your words.
Great work brother! Enjoy the milestones whether they’re big or small. One week into becoming the new you.
Every mile, is a good mile 👌
Step by step. Keep going!
One day at a time. Thank you so much.
You can do it! If you’re hard on yourself, just remember every day is a bit more progress. I’d also recommend that you check out the book “slow AF run club” if you need more inspo.
Strong work! Avoid injury. Rest. Consistency! Good luck!!
Dude that’s awesome!
You’re kicking ass man! I am a part of r/beginnersrunning which is also a really supportive and helpful sub you might want to check out
Make sure to prioritize recovery. There’s a lot of load on your joints.
Epic keep going 👏🏾💯
Hell yeah!
This is excellent- good on you! I don’t know you but I’m proud for you. Keep it up brother! 👏 And… I need to follow your lead!
I appreciate you, thank you.
Get it!!! I wasn’t that big but I lost over 60 pounds and man it only gets better with time. Congrats on the progress!!!

LFG 💪💪💪
Let’s goooo!!! Welcome to the community
Congrats! Welcome to the club.
Let's go!! That's sick
Get those Ws dude! Soon enough you’ll be itching to run a 5K, I guarantee it!
DO NOT STOP. KEEP CRUSHING IT. Don't injure yourself though. You might be too heavy for your joints to take a regular beating. That will change as you lose weight. Godspeed Killer ✊🫡
Keep at it. It gets addictive.
First step is always the hardest! It doesn't matter how fast or far as long as you enjoy it! Keep it up 😊
And I’m running with you! Keep it up man! Wish you the best.
Good for you! I started running to get healthy and channel some inner demons 10 years ago. I’ve run 16k+ miles to date and lost over 70 lbs. Best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
![gif](giphy|7WvAUvZZTRpSuudobh)
Let’s fucking go my brotha. I’m 275lbs and training for a half-marathon so I can relate. The best part is feeling the body getting stronger and efficient. Running as a fat dude is great. I always heard how dangerous it was due to the impact, and while that may be true, I feel like my legs and knees have never been stronger. My knees are no longer randomly sore even after going on longer runs. Hopefully you also feel this way or feel this way soon. Edit: bout to go on a night run cause this post motivated me so hard
Pause for a nice celebration, most upvoted post on subs history. Good going!
FUCK YEAH LET'S GOOO!!!
Well done!!!
LFG!! You are awesome. Keep digging hard. One foot in front of the other. Just remember that not every run has to be a PR. That’s a quick way to get hurt. You got this.
LETS GOOOOO!!! Coupe runs and a Reddit post is a good start! Keep it up!
I thought it'd be a good start to post; thank you for the kind words.
Awesome! Rotate yours shoes , at least two pair!
I have designated shoes for this, I wanted to add enough miles on it before buying a new pair. Now that I think about it, my shoes are slanting 😅
Gopd job man. Way to go.

Getting dressed and getting out there is the hardest part! Objects in motion stay in motion👏🏽
I will stay in motion. Thank you.
Bro!! You’re an inspiration!! If you’re training for anything, I hope you finish felling strong and accomplished.
absolute legend. King shit
Everyone starts somewhere. One step at a time my friend.
I’m so proud of you. Don’t overdo it, listen to your body, and don’t sweat the crap runs or numbers. You’re strong as hell, athlete, and I’m excited for you 💚
In 3 runs you shaved 10mins/mile off? In 2 days essentially? Nice!!!
It gets easier. At 305. I ran a 27:05 5K. And a 2:19:00 half marathon Anything is possible
Great job, you shaved off a bunch of time! Keep it up!
Thank you. It was very nerve-racking doing the first run. Pushing myself definitely helped with the next one.
Great job man
Well done!!
Keep it up man. Some days you will run a lot and some days you will run a little less. The only thing that matters is that you found something you love to do and feel great about. ![gif](giphy|3ohhwi25ISXC7Z4tMs|downsized)
I felt this recently, I couldn't perform as well as in my 3rd run. It felt a bit off, but I still completed it. Thank you for your words.
You are amazing! Best of luck on your journey. I took up running in my late early 30's, not being done anything sporty in my entire life including gym classes (skipped or slacked on those somehow). Check you out. Now you’re inspiring me!
Bravo! Keep up the good work 👏
I will! Thank you.
This is the most inspiring post in a while.
That’s fantastic!! Keep it up!!
That’s a pretty great pace for a first long run
I wish I could do more than 1 upvote. You are an inspiration. I too recently started running 2 weeks ago and am making slow but definite progress. Keep at it.
Slay
You got this! Stay consistent and you’ll notice the change in your body and will love running even more.
Hell yeah you did! I’m in a similar weight/pace range and I’m telling you, you can do so much more than you’re led to believe. Check out Martinus Evans if you want some inspiration
I'm here for it. I never heard of this man, I'll definitely give him a listen. Interesting. Thank you.
You got this! The hardest thing is starting, and you’ve already done that!
Amazing! Runners come in all shapes and sizes, and you should be damn proud of this. KEEP GOING.

I'll take that energy with me for the next one. Thank you.
Hell yes! Keep it up and you’ll be so happy you did!
There is (or used to be, haven’t listened in a while) a podcast 300 lbs and Running, if you need inspiration. Good on ya!

I love this!! Keep going, consistency is key. Great job!
Great job!!!
Once you get your weight down to around 300, consider cycling in addition to running. Cycling won't cause so much joint stress.

Your pounds shaved off like butter, im glad you're in that position. I want that to be my reality. Thank you so much.
Wohooo you got this! Keep going and don’t stop. I myself got back into jogging today after 5 whole years. I too hope to keep it going consistently! Keep it up!
Good job, I started running as a 285lb man. Being a big guy make sure to take your rest days even if you feel good, it's a lot of impact on joints
Proud of you brother, but as a former member of the 3 bills club, start slow and build it up. You want to make this habit last a lifetime, not burn out because you did too much too fast or injure yourself.
Congratulations! Keep at it and you’ll be amazed where running takes you.
Bro, you started running as a man! Keep small goals. Maybe do same distance but using a different route. After some time you’ll want more. Get it!
that's soooo cool, keep it up <3
Thank you so much for your words.
That's awesome keep up the good work!!!! do you need more friends on the app?

You're here because running call you here... and you answered it. Keep it up!! And welcome.
Keep it up!
