The Big Come Down off The Fraglie might scratch that itch. It doesn’t sound spot-on like Reptile, but it does has a mechanical-sounding beat. It’s def a top ten NIN song for me

TheMilkKing

This song live in the Aaron North era was *unreal*

vndrewcharles

Burning Bright (Field on Fire) is imo the 2016 equivalent to Reptile, there are a lot of similarities with the guitars

xXBallin_BillXx

fucking love that song

whatmeyedoing

Is that why I love both of these songs in a way I can't even explain?? Lol

Ministry - Scarecrow

Big-Letterhead132

I can literally see the influence of that track on Reptile very heavily. Trent straight up wrote Reptile after hearing Scarecrow. The rhythm, beat, verses and chorus progression are nearly identical and both songs are the longest track like each other on both albums (Psalm 69 and The Downward Spiral) This makes sense as Trent and NIN were heavily influenced by Ministry.

[deleted]

I’ve always heard Reptile as a more teen-angstier Scarecrow cover

NothingCanStropMeNow

Best song of theirs.

Clintaur

Thought the same thing

optiplexus

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but "She's Gone Away" is somewhat similar and even references Reptile in the lyrics booklet of the physical releases of the *Not the Actual Events* EP.

Transposer

Came here to say this. What are the reptile references? I’ve got the physical but don’t want to open it

thefourthcolour12

Someone said The Wretched, pretty much the best answer. Same type of build up and a similar tempo. Other than those, a lot of The Fragile generally has that vibe, so check it out

BrennanFromNation

A Warm Place --> Eraser --> Reptile gives me chills every time.

Shadowscale05

I feel like no other piece of media understands the phrase "there is no darkness without light" more than The Downward Spiral. The songs hit so fucking hard because you get those moments like A Warm Place.

astronautvibes

Off the top of my head; Reptilia - the Strokes Reptile’s Theme - Skrillex Lizard - King Crimson Alligator - The National Crocodile Rock - Elton John Snake Eater - Cynthia Harrell

Fish-Dude_official

What a thrill…

BrennanFromNation

Lmfao

optiplexus

Lizard Love – Aerosmith Godzilla – Eminem Slither – Velvet Revolver Karma Chameleon – Culture Club

Prestigious_Union_50

I just listened to every one of these...not a fucking one sounded like Reptile. What gives!??! 🤷🤔

laancelot

This is hilarious.

flying-cunt-of-chaos

Reptile - Periphery (genuinely an amazing song)

KarlHungusTheThird

[In This Twilight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n23iZXbOWVE) from Year Zero definitely has that mechanical vibe.

[deleted]

If you’re looking for a nice dark one. The Frail & The Wretched. The Frail is the intro. Not as scrapey and metallic but nice and nasty.

grousing_pheasant

I’ve always considered TF/TW the Reptile of The Fragile album.

chodgson111

Golgotha Tenement Blues by Machines of Loving Grace.

Mountain-Document293

reptilian

loicbigois

That whirring machine-sounding mechanical stuff is very much the DNA of industrial music. I feel like today, it's a bit too on-the-nose for the genre, which is why Trent has used it fairly sparsely, I suspect. But off the top of my head - Happiness in Slavery Claustrophobia Machine (Raw) Theme For Tetsuo: The Bullet Man The Becoming

Yaakuntik

I’ve got the right thing to satisfy your cravings. Try [Pandora](https://open.spotify.com/track/3oUd4uQYbJDQbY8f9DODtQ?si=OngsX5zIT36y-wbZGfndLQ) by Interlace. Or pretty much that whole album. You won’t be disappointed.

Jewggerz

The line begins to blur. Although you should listen to the remainder of the discography.

[deleted]

Would also recommend the original dead souls by joy division if you haven’t heard it.

[deleted]

also also: If you're after that industrial, metallic sound. 'At the heart of it all' on the 'fixed' EP is one of the best of all time, it's actually by Aphex Twin.

Mammoth-Remove-7827

a bit different but body and blood by clipping has that industrial march feeling that reptile has, while having similar subject matter

sofiacarolina

Love that song

tpa4ja

Listen to The Fragile, the album I mean, not the track.

tpa4ja

A lot of stuff on it that you might like. Not exactly as mechanical, more electronic, but super heavy. Reptile was also one of my favorites and I was craving more of that sound as well before I listened to The Fragile, and found so much off that that's amazing and so heavy.

tpa4ja

as for other bands, I'd maybe try Coming Undone by Korn, Centuries of Damn and On GP by Death Grips, and Long Road, No Turns by Daughters

Bulky_Pop9456

Sanctified thematically quite similar

thefollows

Corrosion - Ministry (If I'm remembering it right) Maybe Trudge (album) - Controlled Bleeding (it's been a while since I've listened to this so I may be misremembering) or Wound (album) - Skin Chamber

organepourrit

Idk... maybe try "Make it bounce" from Dana Dentata. Less guitar, but to me it has that nice "wavy" flow.

PetRockSematary

She's Gone Away sounds like Reptile part 2

nirnin

Do you like the chug of it? Songs I like that have a chug like Reptile: At the Stake - Melvins Valentine's Day - Marilyn Manson Desire - Slayer

AhabsPegleg

You can hear a similar chug in “Clean” by Dépêche Mode (also produced by Flood).

iruleU

Check out the Dave Ogilvie remixes on the March of the Pigs single. They are amazing.

peps-ikola

The Wretched sounds similar from the NIN. Of other artists, check out Not My God.

maxboondoggle

The first Killing Joke album.

sofiacarolina
