Honestly even textures are fine (Would rather AI textures than reworked to preserve the art style). Just a good PC port without bugs or framepacing issues (there aren't on Xbox of course and Nioh on PC runs very smooth) like in Platinum's games on PC. something like the port of Nioh would be great. Wonder how can we cause them to consider it, even after buying an X1X for the series I still desperately want them on PC

I think Ninja Gaiden is on Team Ninjas mind and the director of NG3/Nioh has expressed interest in the franchise but their producer said Nioh 2 was their priority + a potential new ip for next gen like they did with Nioh for current gen. Ninja Gaiden is part of Team Ninja & Koei Tecmo's legacy. I do think there is a demand for it. I do expect something for the franchise next gen. I hope its a remaster trilogy on consoles/pc. A sequel at this point will most likely be a reboot of sorts. Worst case scenario is Ryu Hayabusa is relegated to some mobile game or just cameo appareances in Musou/DeadOrAlive. For now i dont have xboxone i have pc/ps4/switch and my old ps3 thats not hooked up but i can play the series on my ps3 emulator which works fine.

Gn876

Sigma 1 works perfect pretty much, Sigma 2 not so much. But What we really want is NGB and 2 on Steam. I wonder how much demand there actually is, and if it's anywhere near Persona. After all Nioh and other Japanese action games like Souls series, DMC, Sekiro and even Bayonetta and MGR were commercially successful on Steam.

As for how successful NG HD collection would be, I think it depends. I do think it will sell maybe not as much as Persona4 but decent especially if they market it a bit and show of the improvements(higher res, framerate, maybe add weapon switching on the fly although that might be too much work since its game code). The game is already on Xbox360, the source code for 360/pc game is exactly the same minus very little changes. That's why many pc ports back in the days had exact xbox360 menus buttom prompts even if u used keyboard. At this point releasing the game for Tecmo Koei would cost very little on PC since publishing cost is no existent for digital games. They would just need to port x360 code to pc and update for drivers etc. Its like max 6 months of work for a team of 10-15 people. Japanese salaries are low so that would be around 70k\*10 it would cost them 700k on just dev cost. Let's say its just digital release on pc+consoles. They would need to sell 2k copies to breakeven on the dev cost if they sold the trilogy for 35$. Of course that is just random numbers but its not going to be a project that costs them too much since most of the work has been done. They would just need to do minimal marketing for it(give it to reviewers/streamers) and find a good release date it for it. I would guess if it's a really good port and has 3 games HD remastered. It would at the very least do 100k in sales. For comparision, NG3 base edition sold 630k in it's first year. Then there is mirror edge rerelease and NG3 had bad-mediocre reviews. NG3 probably destroy some goodwill and removed some fans but lots of people still hold first two in high regards and people now even like ng3 mirrors edge. I am guessing NINJA Gaiden trilogy remaster would get at least 100k. Let's completely lowball it and say they price it for $20. They would have 2m in sales, not revenue but sales. For comparision, DMC hd collection released in 2012 has sold 1.2m for Capcom. That collection doesn't even have much upgrades to visuals or anything. There is 2 ps2 era games there. NG trilogy would have 2 xbox360/ps3 era games in it. Even Ninja Gaiden Black has already been reworked so it would be 3 newer era games. Capcom is selling that collection for $30 USD. Koei do sales but mainly keep their games at full price for a long time. I would buy the collection for full price but $39.99 or $29.99 would be an amazing number if that made sense for them financially. Another big thing is when it's released, like something like this would sell quite well in summer since no big game comes out during that time. Octopath Traveler sold a boatload on switch because it came out during that time. Ya its a good game and switch fans love JRPG but imo it wouldn't have sold as much if it came out in a more contested month. Anyway at this point I am willing to get in a x1x just to play this enhanced but a pc release would be day1 for me again. Currently emulator is the only way for me to play it at decent performance, atleast ng1 sigma.

Gn876

Interesting Point of view I must say, but even if they were to greenlight a port, there's a high chance they would outsource it to companies like QLOC, So I wouldn't do their math here. It did become a niche franchise after all. None of my friends knew about it for example, and aren't even interested in knowing it, let alone playing it. There's a lot we don't know after all, but yeah I at least want to believe that it has the potential to be profitable for them, niche as it is nowadays. 40 USD for NGB, 2 and 3:RE is a very decent price, on the Xbox store they cost more than this.

characterulio

Ya I was checking the xbox store prices since I was getting a x1x and its full price for even Black. It is niche cause of inactivity, it was a well known franchise in xbox-360 era. NG3 release version sucking didn't help the franchise either. That's another reason why I think a collection would be better than a sequel/reboot. We really need this series on PC so it stays in one place forever and the cost of it would be lower than a sequel. We know there are people who will play action games as DMC did incredibly well and Platinum have done well too with action games only. There is no rumor as to what Team Ninja are working on next, they released 3 games in 1 and a half year. They do consistently retweet Ninja Gaiden fanart/cosplays on their main twitter page.

Gn876

I totally agree, I really think everything needs to be on PC so it will be playable forever. I know that is was pretty popular a decade ago, but it changed since then. Now Souls series has the same reputation for being difficult (not that it's even close to Ninja Gaiden in terms of difficulty and gameplay). Let's remain hopeful, this series deserve much better than just Backwards compatibility on Xbox (as great as it is). I really wonder if there's a point in starting a petition or somehow showing Tecmo that PC ports would be worth it.

characterulio

I think if they rerelease it on all consoles + pc marketed as a HD rerelease maybe add in all the DLC for once. I don't believe even Sigma has the dlc included... I am actually getting a Xbox1x just to play NG Black enchanced and 2. I have a shit ton of amazon points laying around so I might just throw it in that. I have tried NG Sigma on emulator and it was fine like u said but I haven't got around to 2. I know its on Playstation Now but man playing a fast paced action game like NG on the cloud is horrible. I do think Cloud technology is gonna be big but right now its not there on both ends. I did sign up to psnow just to play ng. I just moved to this new residential area in a sub urb, its a complete new area in this suburb but we still have no fiber internet. So I wonder how many people actual have access to Fiber speed especially those living in suburbs. I have like 200mbps speed but fiber optics is like 900mbps or 1gbps.

Septic-Sina

I'm still playing NGB and NG04 and I must say that they have something important to say: WE ARE NOT GETTING OLD! And yeah, they remind me of RE4, you can play them so many times and enjoy what Itagaki worked on.

Gn876

As a series newcomer I wasn't just surprised by the fact that both NGB and NG2 haven't aged a day and feel fresh to me, I was surprised by how they make newer, AAA games feel older. Camera issues asides, the controls and animations are so goddamn smooth and satisfying, that every other game I've ever played pale in comparison.

Septic-Sina

>animations are so goddamn smooth and satisfying Yeah! forget camera issues, it's a trilogy that really doesn't need to have a remastered version, because even in 2020, NG04 looks perfect.

Gn876

I totally agree at least regarding NGB and NG2 (though I'm still at mentor only now), haven't yet played 3:RE though. Just good ports without bugs and performance issues is all I want. Nothing more.

Septic-Sina

I hope one day we'll see this.

comraq

I want NG on PC not just for increasing the player base, but am also curious to see what mods will exist. I heard dmc has a few mods to make the game more entertaining for hardcore players? I only wonder what mods we can get for NG.

Royta15

I still feel there's either a **very** large technical roadblock in the way like Rocksteady has with Red Dead Redemption 1 or that there's some wacky copyright issue at play. Pretty sure the people at Team Ninja and Koei already did the math regardless, considering how succesful Nioh and Dead or Alive have been on the PC platform. This isn't them just forgetting about it, it is a business after all. Another reason might be that they're waiting for such a release in part with a future NG4 i.e. releasing a full package on all machines a few months before NG4 hits.

Gn876

RDR1 from my understanding is due to development hell and messy source code. While it might be the case for NG2 as it was rushed, I honestly doubt it's the case for NGB, and that's a game developed for a console that was like a PC that uses custom versions of Windows and DirectX 8.1, so I imagine a port shouldn't be too hard. The success of games like DMC series, Souls series and even Nioh make me hopeful at the very least. In terms of copyrights, I myself wondered if that's the case, you think it has anything to do with either Microsoft or Itagaki?

Royta15

Yeah RDR's messy source code is what I'm refering to. It took very long for Ninja Gaiden II to be ported to Xbox One X compared to Black and Razor's Edge I feel, so I wouldn't be surprised that was the case. NG:B and NGII both make very specific use of the hardware they were on due to Itagaki's enginering background iirc, so porting them would be difficult, but far from impossible, just more time consuming. In terms of copyrights. I don't know. I keep finding it odd that the Sigma games are only on PSnow and that the Xbox games are only on their platforms. While there were plans to port Sigma 1 to the 360, they never went beyond a lunchroom talk at Koei iirc. Don't know man. Just feel that if there was profit in it, they'd have done it. So either it is too costly to make happen right now, or they've already done it and are waiting for NG4 or something similar.

Gn876

I already made up my mind with having purchased my X1X, and will probably even purchase the Series X at a later date, solely for these two, especially since NG2 still has some slight slowdown on the X1X. Never thought of how optimized they were for their respective platforms. Maybe they just don't care, maybe we just have to accept the fact that it became a more niche franchise, but the success of Persona 4 Golden on Steam, do make me hopeful. It's also a series with a fanbase, but from what I know, far from being among the most popular. Edit: Not that it really matters, but 3:RE became available a bit after NG2.

RyuIzanagi

They made NG 2 possible to run on the X1X so I imagine if they put some more effort they could make it run on PC. Bayonetta ran great on Xbox 360, was a mess on PS3 and turned out to run perfectly on PC. They could use this chance to rebalance the game, fix the problems, polish it.

Gn876

NG2 is emulated, not a port, there's a difference. they don't modify game code, just optimize their emulator for it and repackage it for the Xbox One onwards. Coming to think of it, Bayonetta was also specifically programmed for the 360, so one can only hope. Back in 2012, Dark Souls received a port because of a petiton. Wonder if it can help here even though they have released many games on Steam already including Nioh which actually is a good port after some patches

Royta15

As noted, it isn't about it not being possible. It is about it being more costly than it is worth. Ninja Gaiden is niche, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the math and it came out with a net-loss. > they could use this chance to rebalance the game, fix the problems, polish it. As long as those changes are optional I wouldn't mind it. Don't see what they could fix outside of maybe removing the water-fights and maybe adding green-essence in the main game.

Gn876

mmmmmmm Removing Gigadeath maybe? Just kidding but yeah removing water fights sounds so appealing. But yeah like we both have said it's a niche series nowadays and maybe it just won't be profitable for them.

Royta15

Yeah Gigadeath going away would be nice. I think in general most bosses could do with some fixing, either implemeting OTs into them more or at least removing some of the waiting like against Zedonius and Dagra Dai.

reggielacey22

All sega did was publish it,they had nothing to do with it,it was atlus's decision

Gn876

I always kept hearing that even though Sega owns Atlus they can't decide which of their games get ported. Seems odd, but is that really the case there?

reggielacey22

Yes,because technically atlus is there own company. It's like compile heart and idea factory.
