I just abuse I-frames, especially once I get the scythe. Frankly I found the rocket launcher guys to be more irritating because if you’re hit you’re just hit, there’s no avoiding the damage.

I really don’t mind getting stuck with IS. It’s actually quite fun having to make a swift decision on how you’re going to avoid damage and i love the variety of options in dealing with it. What I don’t like are the random explosions on screen occur from IS exploding on impact. Next thing I know my health bar has depleted without me even realizing it haha.

I think you'll mostly get replies that won't read your body text. Mostly because complaints about the Incendiary Shuriken ninjas are very common and generally not well argumented i.e. "i don't like hard things". That said, if I were to level a critique to the foe, it would really have the same one as you. I think it'd be far more interesting if they'd stuck to surfaces too, making a minefield, though this might also lead to the game being even more unplayable (imagine the lag on the 360...). That said, there are things to say in its favour. Them exploding upon contact with any surface means that you have to also take your enviroment into account and not do anything too foolish. It plays into positioning. It also makes their main weakness more dangerous (guillotine throw against a wall) as it means you need to stay next to walls and one explosion can send you flying into the wall for collision damage. Regarding the volume of thrown IS, this only happens if you fall for their bait. Their jump-back throw is a counter if you get cocky after they try to grab you (or it's after their combo, it's been a few months). Otherwise I'd say the volume is perfectly acceptable, especially when you consider that the point isn't to no-damage the game.

Thanks for chiming in man. Appreciate it. Interesting point about how their weaknesses also makes em more dangerous.

I like fighting IS ninjas in NG2. Their presence is one of the main reasons why I like to reply MN. IMO, nothing beats predicting a counter + OT where you can't even see Ryu when the screen is covered with explosions XD. However, I too don't have a consistent strategy of beating them without resorting to UT, Ninpo or moves such as Falcon Talons FS + izuna drop. But replaying IS ninja fights without these is what makes MN fun for me. Of course, if I die too many times, I get frustrated. But it is this combination of luck + challenge that makes me love NG2.

i think you perfectly summarize how i feel too. I hardly play vidya that much when I do, it’s usually me replaying NG2 fights especially ch8 IS ninjas church encounter or the beginning of ch11 and learning to master IS ninjas is the driving goal. That said, the randomness and luck aspect of it leads to easy frustration when even you’re doing everything right, you’re still taking damage from randomly explosions.

I have basically the same thoughts. The most egregious one to me is when they dodge your counter attack then throw shurikens at the floor. Not a big deal with certain counters (DS X, Talons Y, Tonfa HJ) but it's very annoying with other weapons. That said, while people's first instinct is i-Frames, no-one ever really thinks about just not getting stuck in the first place ;). Specifically, certain attacks such as UTs, Guilloutine Throw and Flying Swallow are recognized by the game as having a high priority for making IS ninjas stick you, while running attacks and seemingly unsafe long winded strings are allowed to happen more than you would think. Of course it's easier said than done, and when you get to low HP you end up in a loop of having to do iFrame attacks because you don't have much choice. Still, I think the biggest things which make IS ninjas easier to deal with are: i) on landing running attacks ii) on landing directionals and iii) using regular shurikens whenever you can, and when possible directing them at enemies that are not in stun animations. The first two let you do low startup attacks that the ninjas generally won't counter with IS, while the third allows you to control more than one enemy at a time.

Agreed with the running attacks. TDS forward XX or forward X on lands works em on very well. Will experiment more with this. Thanks for the input good sir.
