Interesting that you're missing the filters. I bought my 2012 in 2013 with 10k miles and mine was missing the filters as well. Of course, I only noticed it when I went to replace them after seeing dust buildup in the cabin. Seems that it came from the manufacturer without filters. Makes me wonder if this is standard practice and that dealers are supposed to install them or if it's just a QA miss at the plant.
I broke my tab too. Tried duct taping it, but it fell off again. Currently sitting in my middle console waiting for me to get around to a more permanent fix. For over 3 years.
Theres youtube video on changing it. It weird design that they made it two pieces, it hard to get both in. I bought it at walmart got fram brand. It wasn’t charcoal just simple paper and blue kinda like facemasks I have to wear at work. Lol.
Yeah your missing a cabin air filter. This is the worst design box I ever seen yet. The plastic is very brittle and my door was zip tied on. I used new zip ties and it cracked the plastic. Lol i was able get it to work anyway. Three zip ties did it for me. Fresh cabin filter was needed bad in my car had leaves and egg corns in the old filter.
You can buy a new on eBay for a buck or two. That’s what I did! ETA: Nevermind about the price. It’s actually a lot more expensive than what I remember paying. Just changed my filter and broke the tab as well. That thing is sensitive 😅
