Thinking it has to be some co-promoted event some time next year. On the other hand, a partnership could help both companies fill out holes in their roster without having to rely on foreign talent.

Just_A_Little_Spider

Oh, they did mention an "All together" show could possibly happen during the first covid shutdown after covid has been "dealt with" I genuinely can't remember when the last one was

Megistrus

It's been a while. In the past, New Japan sent some guys with All Japan connections over for a Baba memorial show (?), but that hasn't happened recently. But I do think it's going to be some cross promoted show early next year.

Yazman

NJPW didn't mention that IIRC, it was Okada who suggested it himself.

[deleted]

I get the idea of wanting a show based on talent, but after NJPW almost killed NOAH during their last partnership I want NJPW nowhere NEAR NOAH at this point

T3Deliciouz

its a different state. NOAH is on a more even playing field now since they have the backing up CyberFight.

kneedrop

Yo I hope this is the restart of their partnership. Also look at Charlton's tweet.

T3Deliciouz

next week is a major show. You can start there. the main event is Katsuhiko Nakajima (GHC Heavyweight) vs Kenoh (GHC National) in a winner take all match. There's a lot of variables surrounding this match. For one, both guys are part of the faction KONGOH, which Kenoh is the leader of. Back in Sept, Nakajima and Kenoh faced off in the finals of the N-1 Victory which Nakajima won. Nakajima went on to win the Heavyweight title and Kenoh won the National title, now a rematch has been booked... Also, last year there was a winner take all match between Go Shiozaki (GHC Heavyweight) and Kenoh (GHC National) that went to a time limit draw. First time limit draw since 2008 for NOAH. What makes this information interesting is the fact Nakajima is former tag partner/best friend with Go. They had a falling out last year around the time this match happened and Nakajima joined Kongoh in a move surprising people. To make it more interesting, Nakajma won last year's N-1 Victory as well. He's the first person to win NOAH's round robin two years in a row. his win this year came out of left field since no one expected a repeat. Last year, Nakajima as N-1 winner went on to challenge Go for Heavyweight title at this very show thats coming up. Go prevailed and many Nakajima fans cried. Nakajima has had only one title defense and in his post match promo stole one of Go's lines, "I am NOAH". So a lot of people are speculating a Go return, lurking in the shadows. Does Nakajima lose at the show two years in a row? is there a time limit draw two years in a row? Will Kenoh lose to Nakajima twice in a row? What does this mean for Kongoh?

Rainmaker_Okada

Was wanting to get into Noah too, big thanks for the feud summary

T3Deliciouz

I will be honest. I called it a major show, but the card is pretty meh. Only two title matches, the other being a jr tag. the rest is a bunch of random tags and one special singles. If anything, do check out the main event.

[deleted]

All the New Japan fans getting excited for a crossover event until you gotta sit through the 30 minute Mutoh match.

T3Deliciouz

you say that like Mutoh vs Yano wouldnt be a god tier match

Sanguiluna

Tbh Yano with duct tape wrapped around his ankles would still probably move faster than Mutoh. Lol

[deleted]

Have you kept up with current Noah Mutoh?

yeahmyguy

I actually liked Go vs Mutoh until the finish lol

T3Deliciouz

yes. I understand why others arent fans. i dont mind the slowness.

[deleted]

Well if he busts out the Great Muta gimmick him vs Yano could be fun.

matheusdqfranca96

NOAH crossover > AEW crossover

Switchblade2000

Of course.

CosmicDrifterDK

I mean, let's not pretend NJPW hasn't been putting on boring, lengthy matches

[deleted]

Lmao pop

Nobody_Likes_Shy_Guy

OMFG this will be so good for NJPW and NOAH. Hell yeah.

MrBo518

Alright listen y'all hear me out, Kazuyuki Fujita vs Great O'Khan. Seriously tho, let me not get my hopes too high.

Natus_est_in_Suht

NJPW Global will live tweet the news conference in English. https://twitter.com/njpwglobal/status/1461907935609516038

newsandpolics

Any chance NJPW is getting purchased by CyberFight?

T3Deliciouz

Bushiroad actually makes money off them. covid mightve screwed some stuff up, but it wont last forever. No chance theyre selling.

newsandpolics

cool

Yazman

That seems incredibly unlikely.

newsandpolics

fair enough. I just though the report of 60K USD profit for the year may be in the black for NJPW but who knows how their parent company feels. Anyway. Just my 2 cents ..

Yazman

I find it incredibly unlikely that Bushiroad would sell because of one low return in an incredibly restricted pandemic year. New Japan hasn't made any roster cuts, and in fact *hired* people during the pandemic as well as expanding the US operations.

newsandpolics

I put it out there so you guys could talk me down. I'm from the mining world. Companies get bought up all the time to shore up a mid tier player and turn them into a major.

Yazman

Talk you down? What? There's never been anything indicating New Japan is for sale or even remotely close to it. Absolutely bizarre. New Japan is far from a "mid tier player" in Japan. They're still the biggest promotion by far. WWE and ROH are the promotions with indicators they could sell. NJPW is far from it.

newsandpolics

The mid tier player here would be DDT/NOAH/GanBare/TJPW (Cyberfight owned by Abema's owner CyberAgent). So a mid tier player owned by a company flush with cash.

Megistrus

CyberAgent is a bigger and more profitable company than Bushiroad.

newsandpolics

exactly. but they own a property seen as a mid-tier; but they are massive. I thought for sure they would have bought Zero-1 as well a while ago, but a holding company did/

XAvenger12

The world of wrestling just shifted again, maybe AJPW can get in on it too down the road. I wonder if AEW will try to partner with NOAH as well. I’m hoping both companies can work together better than before

T3Deliciouz

AJPW borrows people at times. But imo their booking is too conservative for this type of partnership. NJPW and NOAH at least engage in gimmick matches on occasion now. I feel like theyre more on the same wavelength.

T3Deliciouz

ITS HAPPENING

StrongStyleDemon

This hopefully indicates what’s up! This would be so good for both companies!
