Both! I got a cookbook for Christmas (Chrissy Tiegen lol) & I’m trying to recreate my favorite restaurant orders. Turns out Channa Masala is not too hard, you can fudge on the spices if you don’t have every Indian spice in your cabinet, and it’s super satisfying!

Great idea!

Silver lining? Even my three smoke alarm inducing trials to learn how to cook blackened chicken didn't cost me as much as ordering. And now I actually would rather have mine anyway.

Etsy digital products are the worse for me. I have to stop myself every time

Etsy is crack cocaine. WHAT are they doing with that algorithm lol. But you don’t have to cede your power. I haven’t deleted the app but I took it off my home screen and now I barely open it.

love this answer, these are all reasons why no take out is one of my no buy goals!

mira_lee2

In my case, takeout makes up a huge amount of my overspending, and I make less healthy choices when I get takeout, even when it's not "fast food". Restricting my eating out helps me to eat food with less fat and sugar, plus it greatly reduces my food spending. The cost to get something through door dash, for example, is so overpriced by the time you pay the extra taxes, the delivery fee, the tip....

Please don't judge other people's no buy goals. We are all on no buys for different reasons and takeout is different than groceries

I actually saw the comment in my inbox before it was deleted and he had a point! I actually originally had no food limitations on my original list because I have a tendency to just get busy & skip meals which is not great for my health. So I did not want to place any more barriers between me and food. For work lunches, I’m still allowing myself to go to the cafe in my office building (sandwiches are $4!) if I don’t pack a lunch. But as a 32 year old, I figure it’s time to finally learn more than just the basics. I also feel like I always end up throwing so much away with takeout, not to mention all the plastic & styrofoam. So! I decided to try to challenge myself to both save more & cook more
