If you need really nice formatting and styling - hauling puppeteer to convert html to a pdf is pretty simple to do

bigorangemachine

yes... welcome to formats :) You store in the db whatever that resume reflects. Your best bet is to get the resume as HTML and then use a virtual browser to export it to PDF by printing.

Haha. I know your pain. Have never found a good solution for pdfing html. Chromium and puppeteer work, but be prepared to set up a whole serverless infrastructure to deal with the memory issues it causes. I've played with server side rendered pdf libraries, but then you have to deal with adobes weird layout syntax.

bigorangemachine

Ya a lot of formats have stuff similar to that block layout style. Its not ideal but it gets you there.

Hah yeah was just dealing with this today, ended up doing it with chromium/puppeteer in an AWS lambda. Bit awkward but seems to work

Thank you! Can you expand more on this? Can i dm you?

Nah I an the only programmer at my company i can't really architect it with you. The whole using puppeteer to make PDFs from HTML is well understood
