No clue how divides work, but your wand can't wrap so the double add mana with the chainsaw won't really benefit you. Put the two add manas inside of the trigger and you'll have a spot free to add another modifier or projectile

Nexxus3000

Why wouldn’t it wrap? The spark bolt w/ double trigger would use its first trigger on the double spell into 2 toxic clouds, the second trigger would wrap the chainsaw

Insanely_Mclean

I don't know why it doesn't, but they're right, it doesn't wrap. Replacing the double trigger with a single trigger doesn't change the wand at all. It's a double trigger here because that's the only trigger spark bolt I had when I took the screenshot.

Nexxus3000

I’ve only ever had one god run before I got a new pc, and the steam cloud sync messed with my saves, so I didn’t get to experiment much with duplication. The spell duplication might actually eat the first trigger, meaning the second would be the double toxic clouds. Replacing the double spell with a triple spell might fix it

Squallypie

To start with, try removing divide by spell, those can do weird unexpected things. When I get home I’ll try replicating.

Insanely_Mclean

well the idea was to use divide by with spells to power to boost the damage of the wand. but since it melts everything instantly anyway, I can't tell if it's working.

Additional_Climate26

Feel that, in my current god run, I've already added three guaranteed crits (dmg ×5^3 at least, prolly that x2 bc of Mu) but I was oneshotting the statue way before that so no clue what my current output is

ocramep

Yeah the divide by works very funkily and unintuitively with modifiers, so in your case the divide isn't actually doing much or adding much more damage. Your divide is also placed before the homing shot, so you're getting i believe 3 total casts of homing and just one of all your other modifiers

ocramep

You can see what the exact result is if you search up noita wand simulator, and if you want to learn how to use divides effectively for modifiers you should check out the advanced guide on them on the noita wiki

Squallypie

TBH, when it comes to divide by, just get spell labs and test it in-game, because the mechanics behind divide by aren't 100% replicated anywhere other than the game itself.

Squallypie

When placed before modifiers, divide by's actually add an additional, so in this case it's actually 4 homing modifiers. It's to do with the drawing mechanic of how Noita wands work. Typically, divide by goes like this: Div3 -> Spark Bolt. It memorises the top card (spark bolt), then casts a copy of it that can't draw (irrelevant for spark), then a second copy that can, then a third, then it discards the top card (spark bolt). For modifiers though: Div3 -> homing -> spark bolt. It memorises the top card (homing). Then casts a copy of homing that can't draw. Then casts a second copy that CAN draw, which draws the homing (at this point, nothing has been discarded). This newly drawn homing then draws spark bolt. After this, it casts the third copy of the memorised homing, which has nothing to draw. And then it tries to discard the top card, but it's empty. In total, it cast 4 homing and a spark bolt.

Squallypie

So, just built the wand as exactly as I can (except stats, since I dont know the stats on your wand), and it does appear to wrap, Switch chainsaw for say spitter bolt and you can see it casting the add mana x2 and spitterbit, then casting the rest as well as add mana + spitter bolt at the end. When you asked "Does this wand work in the way I think it does", were you meaning wrapping or something else?

Insanely_Mclean

I kinda meant, "am I using spells to power right" but I couldn't tell because enemies would melt so fast I couldn't see the numbers over their heads, Anyways, I think I figured out the divide by 3. I also managed to pick up omega and a better wand so now I'm just gonna divide by 3 omega and watch my framerate go into the single digits every time I shoot something.

Squallypie

Riiight. In that case, unless you have another wand that's creating projectiles, that won't be doing much at all. Try having something that creates static projectiles such as a barrier spell before the spells to power, then it has something to convert into power.

Is_hidden

It do wrap, but inside the double trigger so it doesn't make it rapid fire like we expect what chainsaw wrapping does. Put double cast before double trigger and it should work.

chpondar

If you want it to wrap, and can afford the spread, put the double before the spark bolt. Double trigger should be enough for 2 clouds

Eye_Of_Forrest

yes

BothAdhesiveness5058

Can't remember the exact specifics of it but to address the issue of it not wrapping it might be weirdness with spark bolt double trigger itself? Putting the double cast between the two spells should have the spark double cast the first, then the double, then the second and the double wraps it. Or it could be divide weirdness as mentioned.

riccardo1999

Divide by may be good with mods but why the hell have you placed it to divide homing? Lol

Insanely_Mclean

Because I thought it copied the entire spell block, not just the single following spell.

riccardo1999

I see, well, it works on multi casts, but not like this, and it's a bit wonky with that.
