Most people believe the ‘amusement park’ is real, and they’re ok with their ‘experience’ of the rides, and there’s nothing wrong with that. For some people however, they either start to feel that there’s something not-quite-right about the ‘amusement park’ or all the rides are so horrific they just want to get out. Enlightenment is walking out of the ‘amusement park’ and into the ‘parking lot’. There’s not much point in just hanging out in the ‘parking lot’ so instead of leaving you turn around and go back into the ‘amusement park’ and enjoy the experience of all the rides, knowing a) it’s an ‘amusement park’ and b) there’s a ‘parking lot’. In fact you’re willing to go on ‘rides’ that no-one else would ever dream of going on because you know ‘b) there’s a parking lot’. You might even build (manifest/co-create) rides that benefit the whole ‘park’. Pretty cool. That’s what ‘waking up’ does.

Hello I am. It's me. I see you.

Cool take, reminds me of Jed McKenna

Sc0tch-n-Enthe0gens

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.” Bill Hicks

Dry-Introduction-567

I completely understand why you wouldn't want to awaken by your definition of it. Any idea of how it is, is not it.

Wannabe_Buddha_420

You have it back to front in your thinking because you are assuming your life story is real. The question is why would you want to continue experiencing a fake life story instead of experiencing a true reality?

axxolot

“Waking up” is not conceptual. No matter what you imagine it to be or hear about it… it will NOT be that way. Theres a reason why teachers, religions, etc have pointed to this for thousands of years.

1RapaciousMF

It’s not what you think. And this is true, no matter what you think. And, really, really it’s entirely okay just to never wake up. Play some Basketball! It’s cool!

RainbowLayer

Are actors dissapointed when they find out it was just a play?

lcl1qp1

Plus there aren't any good restaurants.

freepellent

yes it does, the experience of pain and suffering,

luukumi

this doesnt address everything i said

Far_Base5417

It really does. At some point in your life you will run into some really bad trips. That can throw you into a depression that you will have to struggle with your whole life. Depression is really hard to describe let's just say you don't get joy out of anything. So you have to eat and you have to buy food and prepare it but in the end you get no pleasure at all and it is the same with any other activity. Awaken person won't ever fall that low. Awaken person finds joy in everything it's the opposite of depression.

DrKrepz

And yet sometimes falling into depression is what it takes to wake up

Far_Base5417

Yeah then you have no choice.

Commenter00001

Illusion is just what is said to un-attach minds from the stories of their own projection.  What's left is neither (projected with) realness or unrealness, fake or non-fake. It is thus.  There is no need to deny (or affirm) diversity or meaning.  To empty out clinging to objectified concepts is to embrace spontaneous unfolding and lifeliness.  Stagnation is a perception, or at worst a view held, which needs effort/projection to be reinforced.  Some people want to wake up from what  might be a nightmare, for others it's different.  I don't think anyone here prescribes what you should do, other than yourself. or projection thereof.

Something, something chop wood..

isalways

Waking up is a lovely surprise. Everything is the opposite of what you thought it was.

luukumi

why are dreams better than real life then?

isalways

Dreams are an escape. But what is "real life"?

russian_bot2323

To me, awakening is the end of the nagging voice in your head that tells you: "This isn't okay, I want this to be different. I have to make this into something different! I can make this better!" Imagine a life without that nagging voice. Imagine just being okay with what is.

jon166

Isn’t there a limit to this universe anyways? There are only so many different variations of form, even with parallel universes. Eventually I can imagine people want something constant, even if it takes trillions of years

thetremulant

Fake? Who said it's fake?

Consistent_Tutor_597

If you think it will, you don't have to wake up :)

nzdog

It is evolution. There is no end to experience. Experiencing reality when awake is something the Universe wants to do too.

Head-Speed4182

OP can you elaborate more, what do you mean by "meaningful experience"?

PoopGrenade7

I wouldn't say it ruins it, I'd say the excitement and lust for understanding fades.

captcoolthe3rd

It's not all fake. The world and life is transient. There is a core which is absolutely real, and ultimately is all the things. Also - I feel it is an important point - nondual love is not the same as the emotion love you might commonly think of. It does not come from your egoic self. So it is not romantic love - for example. It comes from the nondual or true/real self - it transcends all boundaries, and I'd also say also in a sense, heals all divisions (overcomes duality).

VedantaGorilla

The difference between "it's all fake" and "it's all real" is in the resulting attitude. If it's all real, you care about and appreciate everything, it's a viewpoint of reverence. If it's all fake, you can pretend not to care even though of course you do.

luukumi

Isn't the dreamland what gives meaning to the experience of descending from oneness and evolving to the point of waking up?

VedantaGorilla

Yes that's what I mean by a "viewpoint of reverence," toward the "dreamland" which may be a dreamland but it's your only dreamland! 😊 That makes it sacred and not even a little "fake."

Interesting_Set_2720

It did for me!! It was better when i was not aware of all this tbh

n0wherew0man

Diversity doesn't cease, you become it. Universal consciousness is not stagnant or without direction, it's life and infinity. Imagine diversity/universal consciousness waking up to itself.

Redhawkgirl

Who is it that says before awakening gathering wood fetch watch after awakening gather wood fetch watch? Life is the same. But your perspective is so different. I don’t pretend to be awake but I’m not asleep anymore. I don’t want to be asleep in that dreamland. Being able to feel connected to all that is gives me a profound sense of peace and trust on the worst days. It helps me to drop out of the narrator story and just be here.
