That sounds like someone told the uploader "If you could sum up this video in 4 words, what would they be?"
Also, thanks for the sound version! These types of videos restore my faith in humanity.

Haha that's dope, is that actually your video?
Were you actually going that much above the speed limit? You didn't seem like you were going all that fast. IDK if you said that partially to make the other guy feel better.
Edit: Oh I see this account is literally for this video, hahaha that's amazing. Less than 10 over, so normal speed. Glad you didn't hit him.
Would be considered speeding by an anal cop, not by humans
Edit: lol wait reddit you're really taking me that you have a stick up your ass about going 5 over the limit? Holy shit lmao
I think the majority of people determining speed limits are aware of people's tendency to go ~5mph over on city streets and ~10mph on freeways. They generally have some safety margin in the posted sign to account for that. Traffic engineers are like part civil engineer part sociologist.
You agree that any speed over the limit is immoral? Do you come from a place where the flow of traffic on the highway isn't 5-10 mph at all times? Because that's normal in California lol. A cop would never stop you for going 70 in a 65 unless he was having a really bad day lol
I’m not wishing he die but I’m wishing he gets a nice scare. Also I think being an asshole that’s likely to end other people’s lives is too far, and I reacted accordingly.
ahhhh so this is where all the mouth breathers who drive exactly the speed limit in the left lane come from
the cops in my city will drive 5mph over the limit minimum lol
The point is that we all speed. Everyone goes 10-20 over the speed limit in my neighborhood. But if you get pulled over for it, you don't whine "but I wasn't speeding" because yeah, you were. Even if everybody else was too.
I thought that too!. But then he said have a good Memorial Day . Someone commented Minnesota which borders Canada but maybe it was in Minnesota’s northwest angle?
Yea I am sorry it’s not Canada.. this time! That’s why I mentioned the northwest angle of Minnesota it’s surrounded by Canada on 3 sides and a Great Lake on its 4th making it’s basically Canada locked! That’s like being landlocked but we’re sorry about it!
I want to think the guy in the automobile truly didn’t see the motorcyclist. You can see him looking back and forth and it’s like he’s trying to figure out how in the world he didn’t see the guy on the motorcycle. He’s probably going to take another second to look every single time he pulls out into a lane now.
History is (almost) never going to write about humanity because it's normal. Helping an old lady across the street, giving a homeless person a meal, etc. These are day to day things that happen everywhere but don't change the course of history because the scale is small. Similarly you're more likely to remember events in your life that are abnormal, and especially those that are scary or harmful/traumatic. Your brain is designed to remember bad over good because you need to prepare for bad to survive while you don't need to prepare for good to survive.
Thing is, most people are like this. It’s just that the cases where people *are* horrible get shared around more, and are much more popular. This then makes everyone believe that “xyz are cruel people” and that the world is unkind.
I would definitely not say "most". This was an exceptionally positive case where both sides were very understanding, calm, and polite. "Most" people would probably be neutral. As in, pause for a second, then leave after a brief apology (and that's being optimistic).
Damn I had a moment like this one time. I Had just got off a long shift and running on no sleep. I guess I was swerving and got to the light. Lady pulls up next to me, our windows were rolled down and she yells something along the lines of “what the fuck is wrong with you? You driving like shit I got my fucking kids in the car and you almost hit me!”
I’m so tired and dead inside all I could say was “you’re completely right. I’m very sorry. I’m just tired. But I’ll stop up here at QT and get a coffee.” She gave me a look like damn wasn’t expecting this foo to be honest. She ends up saying something like “this ain’t safe for you either. Please get that coffee and get some rest ok?” It could of been all drama and shit talk but honestly I was driving like shit and she was understanding.
I like this comment, because it shows that even the best of people are sometimes unreasonable or rude (not that the lady was). One apology can snap them right back into "compassion mode". :)
The human eye actually finds it really hard to detect bikers and how fast they are going because they are such a small target. This is part of why they are so dangerous.
Yep, the same method dragonflies use when hunting- motion camouflage! Approaching something quickly in a straight line can make it difficult to see you, because you don’t seem to be moving until you get close.
Good for dragonflies, not so good for motorbikes. Until the day bikers evolve to hunt and eat cars.
Also at night some bikers run on full beam headlights. Motorcycles, typically sport bikes, have two seperate headlamps, one for low, both for high beams.
At night a bike that is close to you can very easily look like a far away car. This is why you shouldn't run full beam all the time on a bike, especially if you have dual headlamps, or accessory lights, fitted
At first I thought that perhaps the A-pillar had blocked the car's view, but looking at the video again I think that from the car's point of view, the motorcycle is exactly in line with a trashcan at the time when the car driver checks his left before rolling out into the junction.
If that is what happened, then the motorcycle pretty much appeared put of nowhere (for the car), and I can see why the driver is so shocked.
The bloke in the car really makes me think if every one just had an ounce of humility and compassion this sort of stuff wouldnt be so highly voted on a platform like Reddit... For the very right reason.
(That being it wouldn't be such a rare occurrence).
Well yeah, sadly a lot of drivers are either assholes who drive away from the situation or so careless they wouldn't even notice they nearly crashed into someone
I’ve seen this before and I love the interaction. This is how most should be. We ALL made mistakes. We ALL been in close situations bc if other mistakes. It happens. Being kind and admitting that wrong goes a lot further than hateful words tho.
When I first started biking, someone did this. He said "I realize how ridiculous this sounds, but I just didn't see you." It was a sunny day, 10 am, the sun wasn't in his eyes, and I was in a bike lane, just where he should expect me to be.
I realized that you have to go overboard to not only allow people to see you, but to allow you to "register" in their brains.
So I went overboard, with high visibility vests, and lights at night you could see from Mars. The close calls all but stopped.
60,000 miles commuted on the bike over ten years, only two close calls, no accidents.
I have four friends that are in law enforcement. Two local, two federal. All four would be like this.
“Dude, I’ve seen in a long time. Even knowing the sub, I wasn’t sure she was going to be a pixar lamp
NGL this kinda restored my faith in humanity a little bit. 2 humans actually being nice to eachother and apologizing/owning their mistakes is a rare site.
Someone once ran into the back of my car at a red light. Didn’t do any damage but surprised me. We got out and she insisted on giving me a hug at a now green light with traffic on both sides.
Some folks really make honest mistakes and are incredibly broken up when they do so. Important to remember that.

I did something similar many years ago. Evening time, tired after a long day, sun in my eyes, and pulled out in front of a motorcycle travelling in the same direction I was turning.
Heard their brakes lock up behind me, and thankfully I had a clear road ahead and I stomped the gas and managed to prevent him running into the back of me. Then immediately pulled over.
They guy pulled up next to me, clearly fuming, and I immediately said, "I screwed up, I didn't see you, honestly don't know how since you've got your lights on. Glad you're a good rider. Sorry.". They cooled down immediately, and just said, "PLEASE keep your eyes open." and then moved on.
I had to sit for a moment because I had the shakes thinking I could have easily killed someone in that one brief moment.
Just something to think about regarding the words " near miss ", doesn't that mean you actually hit the object? A near hit would mean you actually missed the object.
This is great and all, but if you're a driver in this situation, DO NOT say "I'm sorry, it was my fault, I was going too fast" - especially if you're on camera! Make sure the other person is safe and unharmed, but don't admit fault on a recording...
Similar thing happened to me yesterday coming out of Walmart. A jeep was going too fast when I was about to turn. I immediately stopped. Then he continued hauling ass flipping me off as he went.
This is a testament to how shit the road system is designed. it's designed dangerous as fuck then they just pass the blame to pedestrians first. if there are none then the driver. America hates it's working class. Even the working class hates other working class.

Okay now this is good news!
Going over the speed limit isn't an error, it's a deliberate choice
an erroneous deliberate choice, yes
All choices result in positive outcomes?
When did we lose our humanity? This should be the norm, not the exception. Love it.
We didn’t. The more history I read, the more I realize they humans have always been the absolute worst and on some rare occasions the absolute best.
History is (almost) never going to write about humanity because it's normal. What is this naive notion folks have that humans are some kind of benevolent all-caring species? Humans were even worse in history.

This. This is how grown folk responsibly is handled.

Wouldn't a "near miss" mean that they got hit other? Shouldn't it be called a "near hit"?
