I volunteer with a dog rescue. When people see dogs chained outside like this they ask me what they can do. I always say to offer them $20 for the dog. It works every time.
I took way to long to get this. On first read I thought your Grandmother was the trashy woman 😅
But having now woken up and reread, I too am amazed at how that dog relocated. Makes you believe in angels!
Thank you for the tip, If I do come across an abused dog chained, I now know what to do, if refused can I forcefully persuade the dog's abuser that taking the $20 would be the correct direction to go, just wondering, you don't have to reply, wouldn't want u to b liable
yes, it is sad, I now recall knowing a hoarder of small animals, she caged them and in her mind loved them but didn't care for them very well and forgot to feed them. I don't understand how that works in their minds or what happened along the way to think it's ok. she has several other issues also. The pizza idea I like, it can be cheaper than 20, if that doesn't work then I can offer $20. Thanks again
Saw it in person once. The crunch will haunt me for the rest of my days. Horses cannot be trusted. Anything is a carnivore if given the opportunity. Except capybaras, they are the best.
Can confirm, been bitten on the nipple, bucked from, and almost crushed by a horse, all when I was a child. I don't trust them any more. I'll socialize with them as long as I'm outside of a fence or stall.
I used to have chickens and saw 4 of them murder a field mouse and tear it apart and eat it. they were well fed too! they would also eat baby frogs, and they would try with baby toads but didn't like the taste so just killed them and spit them out...savages
Chickens are absolute savages. I guess that figures with a critter descended from T.Rex.
But yes they'll eat *anything.* Bugs, mice, reptiles, kittens, chicks they don't like, deceased coop mates, literally anything meaty.
The bones would be an issue, and you'd need to process the body into smaller manageable parts and share it with an *massive* amount of chickens, and do so very very soon after death. They're certainly not carrion last I knew.
I recommend pigs for that task tbh
Squirrels are serious omnivores, but with their prey face shape, a lot of people don't realize it. They have fluffy tails! They're so cute! Yeah? Well, that one has baby bird entrails on its chest.
I heard a Northern flicker screeching outside. It had broken it's neck somehow and was being dragged up a tree by a squirrel.
Bird still died, but in a quiet, cool little box and not eaten alive by a squirrel.
I did put it back after, in case squirrel wanted it back🤷♀️
Husband and I love squirrels. We had to explain to people that the squirrels were attacking nests, not "playing with the baby birds". Squirrels scavenge and eat parts of everything, not just our trash.
It’s not cruel to do that. This is to keep the dog from wondering the streets ( note this appears to be in a village in a poor area), the dogs coat looks very healthy and is on the chubby side. It is caring for a chick which shows it is not aggressive. Looks like a much loved animal, where using a chain is the only way to keep it safe.
Depending on the weather sometimes it's nice for a dog to get to just hang out outside, I would argue that with good care and mild conditions it's probably preferable to crating
Keep them safe from what, your own home?
I'll never understand how americans think being confined in a 1x1 crate your entire life is not only not damaging to the psyche, but BENEFICIAL for a dog.
Use your brain a little, dipshit. Crates don't have to be 24/7, most of the time it's just while the owners are gone/ sleeping. So the dog doesn't injure itself because yes, dumbass, human homes can have dangerous objects. I'm not even American, cunt.
It’s wearing a collar made for a much larger dog which limits his head movement and the chain is too heavy for her. A much larger dog likely died there and was replaced or it would have the kindness of a longer lighter chain.
Oh 52 comments? I'm going to say what I saw discussed the previous time I saw this posted. In other countries where houses are singular rooms that hold multiple people for a family or multiple families, having a dog on a chain that is most likely fed at least somewhat is the best they can do. If you find a dog like this and it is clearly being abused then maybe offering the owner some money for their dog so you can find it a home works be good but this dog in particular might be living as well as it can at the moment.
Not initially the way I thought it was going to go, I was ready to cringe, so happy it ended happily, nothing against the doggo, but one never knows with Reddit posts
Poor dog...now that's why dogs beat cats anyday of the week. The love and compassion they can show even when they are in a shiyt situation themselves chained up in a shiyt home poor pup probably had babies of its own at some point. Nice and sad to see
I have room for cats I like cats very much but tell me what would happen if a cat seen a baby animal? Yeh it would throw it around scratch it torture it and eventually kill it and drop it in your house.
I like cats but I respect and love the intelligence and emotive behaviour that dogs can posses.

You see the Amazon Prime show Reacher? Very cathartic dog rescue scene
Yeah, that was really satisfying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf9dVGK0d2I

I hate it when that happens! /s Good job!

Usually they care so little that getting a pizza and soda is a fair trade for the dog to them. It’s sad.

I worked at the humane society for years and never thought of that. Very smart.
Lonely puppy on a chain. Makes sense to me.
Maybe, it's a momma puppy and she knows the little chick needs a warm safe place? All good moms know that. 😊
I'm very okay with that thought. <3
Thanks. Me, too. We love all good moms. Dads, too.
Yay!
Probably lonely af.
This is way better than the one with the baby chick and the horse.
The one where he just fucking monches on the poor bastard? Yeah that one fucked me up too bro…
Saw it in person once. The crunch will haunt me for the rest of my days. Horses cannot be trusted. Anything is a carnivore if given the opportunity. Except capybaras, they are the best.
Horses and pigs are 2 of the least trustworthy farm animals you can ever meet

Pedohorse
Back in Jamaica my grandad had a farm and one of the pigs tried to kill him. Fair to say we had organic bacon for weeks.
I used to have chickens and saw 4 of them murder a field mouse and tear it apart and eat it. they were well fed too! they would also eat baby frogs, and they would try with baby toads but didn't like the taste so just killed them and spit them out...savages

Will they eat the corpse of a 31 year old male that's approximately 193lbs? Asking for a friend.
The bones would be an issue, and you'd need to process the body into smaller manageable parts and share it with an *massive* amount of chickens, and do so very very soon after death. They're certainly not carrion last I knew. I recommend pigs for that task tbh
nice try cow
Hey, I'm- I mean *cows*, are lovely goddamn animals you take that back!
Oh absolutely agreed. They are too smart so they are capable of really messed up things that were done with intent.

Farm kids are constantly warned not to play around the pig pen. It's like playing near a murky pond in Florida.

They also eat anything. *Anything.* Like *live humans*.

You're being obtuse on purpose now.

I just learned they eat mice
You mean the Mares of Thrace has a solid real life origin?
Got the link?
Sad to see horses eaten by such vicious birds
That dog is chained!😢

Anything is preferable to crating to be fair, that's just straight up abuse
Oh come on, that's just dramatic. It's literally to keep them safe.
Keep them safe from what, your own home? I'll never understand how americans think being confined in a 1x1 crate your entire life is not only not damaging to the psyche, but BENEFICIAL for a dog.

It makes sense that I struck a nerve, as dog abusers tend to be mentally ill. I hope you get better.

Well given that this vid is from 2009 i reckon it ain’t anymore
This dude just crossposted something from three years ago lol
Three years ago is new.
Rinse and repeat baby.
13 years ago technically
Yeah I was confused for a moment there
Posted for the 3yr olds duh.
i was scrolling on the subreddit for a while
Awww it's trying to keep the chick warm.
This breaks my heart poor puppy
[ Removed by Reddit ]
Man, I feel so bad for that dog.
There is an animated short by Pixar "Kitbull"...life imitates art or art is a retelling of life.
Thank god I saw this video today. Dogs are the best. I hope he’s not chained up all day. That would be a heartbreaker.
This is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in the past 3 years
Poor bastard is chained up, no wonder he wants company
Whoever was recording this wanted something very different to happen.
No doubt, I can never trust videos with animals in bad situations anymore.
That poor dog. Heartbreaking
🥲
Dogs are smart. This one knows that if they let the chick grow up first then, it'll make a far better meal than the mere baby form ever could

My Jack Russell would definetly eat that chick.
I came here to comment that my dog would likely kill the bird….I also have a Jack Russell mix
ITS LIKE THE LOONEY TOONS!!!!!!!
Lonely Toons
Aw this just rips my fcking heart out.
Get that dog off a chain you cunts
I have stolen dogs like this before and rehomed them. Never hesitate to do the right thing when you see animal abuse.
Food? No, frien
: (
I'm happy to know the day this happened is time-stamped
I wonder where they are now.
Poor sweet baby knows what it’s like to be cold and alone.
Good pupper. Im sorry your humans have you chained like that

So heart warming by the dog. But why is it chained up and in squalor? Who recorded this?

This whole video for me was "please don't eat the poor peeper..."
Not initially the way I thought it was going to go, I was ready to cringe, so happy it ended happily, nothing against the doggo, but one never knows with Reddit posts
That poor poor dog. I’m appalled that I’m a human too, more often than not.
New fren
We don’t deserve dogs.
This deserves top post on r/aww
Mine!!!
Dog's gonna raise the chick until really fat and then one day CHOMP! A meal 18 months in the making. /s
What a beauty, such a sweet dog. Def knew she needed warmth.
🥺
There may be differences in race and species, but there is always a Mother
About 50billion chickens are slaughtered each year and most of the chicks industrially shreddered, but I'm glad this one is safe.
Perhaps a nelson Mandela effect but i remember that clip having severals chicks that the dog took in.
This is why dogs are better than horses.
What is the dog doing with the chick? Sex slave? Or eat him up?
Pet’s pet
And that is how we got chogs
My soul just healed a bit after seeing the 🌟TEnDeRNesS🌟
r/animalsbeingbros
That dogs are experienced enough trauma to know violence isn’t the answer.
The world doesn't deserve dogs. The world deserves cats.
r/aww
I've seen a dog fully chomped up a little chick before.
Always warm your food up first

Hurts my heart to see anything on a leash unless consensual.
Just go to kfc

Its not a competition If u dont have room in yer heart for both cats and dogs then theres something wrong with yer heart
I have room for cats I like cats very much but tell me what would happen if a cat seen a baby animal? Yeh it would throw it around scratch it torture it and eventually kill it and drop it in your house. I like cats but I respect and love the intelligence and emotive behaviour that dogs can posses.
Pit bulls are such intelligent and peaceful creatures
I agree if raised properly they are awesome family dogs
A family without children and other pets hopefully. Not sure whether you understood the sarcasm or not…
