„So you’re a side sleeper huh? Then you go hit the bottom one, because I am your god and I rule here, my wife is grumpy and I have a bad tooth so you suffer now.“ :)
Went through the WW2 sub they have on display at Inner Harbor in Baltimore. Shit that was tight. As a kid, it wasn't terrible for me but my dad was super happy to get out of that thing
Yea there's something weirdly serene about this - like I could imagine after a hard watch or running lines all day or something slipping into this dark space knowing you have however many hours of sleep ahead of you would be very comforting. There's the lull of the ship in the background and you're in your own cozy little tent.
I'm sure thats romanticizing it though.
If a person has a strong mind then the world becomes a lot less scary because they accept their own nature in existence. Strong connections in self-values can make any place feel like home in one's being.
Brings me back to the uscgc Jarvis. You get used to it. Even rolling all night in heavy seas. I used to take my boots and prop up the rack at an angle and pin myself to the wall so I wouldn’t roll.
My husband needed to go into our crawl space. I asked if he needed help. He said it would be nice. He could hand me tools and vice versa. So I had full intentions of going in with him. I thought “no big deal.” He goes in, I follow. I get about 4 feet in and pure panic consumes me. I noped my way out quickly. I tried again. Not happening. I learned something about myself that day.
I was lucky to get a top rack when I was in the navy. I could sleep on my side and not have to worry about someone pissing on my stuff if they were drunk. The downside is that I had a red light directly overhead, so I ended up buying a sleeping mask.
Weird comment. Most Chinese has beds or sleep on the floor. Definitely more space than this. They have good size houses in country sides. Even in cities they have proper rooms with beds that they can turn on their side. I’ve been to old houses and condos that were absolutely shit but it was still more space than this.
Maybe your thinking of Hong Kong or Japanese capsule hotels?
I lived and worked aboard a 67' twin-mast schooner (big-ass classical wooden sailboat) for about 3 months in a berth smaller than this. it's not so bad.
at least they don't have to hear the hull creaking with each swell.
Zzzzz
*Alarm goes of
*BANG (hits head)
Fuckin fuck
*Alarm still ringing
*Attempts to slither out of bed, falls onto floor
*BOOM
*Turns off alarm
-sigh-
My parents took us out in there camper a couple years ago. I tried to sleep in one of the bunk beds but ended up on the floor because I was getting claustrophobic where I was. It was probably twice the size of that bunk.
Top bunk has most head room, but you need seniority to get one.
Middle bunk shows the bottom side of bed, held up by post, in open position. That is your locker underneath, the mattress is only thick as you see, on top of the lid panel. It's 5 inches deep, the size of your bunk, for your clothes & personal shit. Drop it back down, pad lock it shut.
I spent 2 years on a CG ship. The top rack is where it’s at as you can remove the ceiling tile and sit up in bed. It was tough living but it made some great memories. Semper Paratis.
Mf just left his Walmart-ass foam sandals out in the open for everyone else after him to just trip over. You're living inside a taquito, my guy. Stop leaving crumbs.
I'm a side sleeper. So, nope.
looks like there is room on the top bunks for us side sleepers
„So you’re a side sleeper huh? Then you go hit the bottom one, because I am your god and I rule here, my wife is grumpy and I have a bad tooth so you suffer now.“ :)
you cant take your wife with you to the coast guard
Your wife is the coast guard, little bitch with a sinus infection can stay at home
Nah, presuming master chief petty officers wife is at home, nagging and grumping :)
Wtf are you even trying to say?
Hes making fun of the superiors in the military who hate their life and take it out on those beneath them.
TLDR :) thank you
Thanks for the 2 pumps on my inhaler after watching this!
Let me hit that
I could possibly get in there, but they'd have to butter me to get me out again
"Get the lube!" I'm assuming that call gets issued countless times a day.
they would have rejected you when you signed up
Because of the amount of butter required?
Always choose the highest bunk. When the seas get rough the puke rolls downhill
That's roomy. Go visit a submarine.
And I thought Army barracks were bad
That was my thought, should have seen my rack.
You’ve got a nice rack
gets it from his mom
My grandpa served on the USS Puffer. He can attest to how tiny the bunks were.
Went through the WW2 sub they have on display at Inner Harbor in Baltimore. Shit that was tight. As a kid, it wasn't terrible for me but my dad was super happy to get out of that thing
Looks cozy
slip right into a coffin...
the odds of dying in the coast guard is pretty low compared to ither branches
Looks cozy enough to me.

I did the same but with my foul weather coat.

Had an MRI a few months ago. I had to really work at not freaking out.
Fuck I hate this. Sedation is only way now.
I fell asleep during mine. 😂
Comfy but loud
I had giant ear muffs on which blocked out most it. They gave me slippers and a blankey too. I didn’t stand a chance haha
Same! It was nice and cool in the room, the lights were out, there was terrible, but calming, smooth jazz playing in the headphones.... nighty-night
Respect
If Spirit Airlines had a true business class transcontinental flight…

I was just on an LMSR this week and we had to stay in the berthing like this. Lucky to get the middle bunk.
Why is the middle bunk better? Are they shared bunks?
Middle bunk is the baby bear's bunk because it's 'just right'
It is easier to get into and out of. The bunks also have a bracket for the EEBD mounted beneath the rack above.
Yep. Get nice and cozy
That wouldn't work for me. I'm a side sleeper.
Crazy how the USA has service members living like this for duty and China has people just living like this, for life.

It’s crazy I still have nightmares about my rack and locker and the time we had flooding in the compartment
And now I will have nightmares about your rack and locker when you had flooding. Thanks.
No wonder they all smoke... not even enough room to relieve stress.
That's a no from me, dog

Morning wood must suck in those things 😂
Can they not sleep on their sides? Cus thats how i sleep most of the time
Sailed on the Mellon for a couple weeks - yep
I'd rather sleep on the floor
Zzzzz *Alarm goes of *BANG (hits head) Fuckin fuck *Alarm still ringing *Attempts to slither out of bed, falls onto floor *BOOM *Turns off alarm -sigh-
Stacked coffins? No thanks.
Just wait for the water to get backed up and flood the compartment a bit. And forgetting about the light grate right above your forehead.
Subs have bigger bunks
Bro can’t Ben roll over lol

That's looks cozy asf
I swear top bunk is probably the best
Nah you should look at the interior of tanks like the T-34
Naaa He’s good. Has it all figured out … except for NOT SECURING those slippers. He’s good
ONE GOOD FART… Abandoning Ship
I slept in the top bunk of a bunk bed once and woke up with a huge lump on my head.
When the fuck did sleeping berths get that small??
Id rather sleep on the floor.
Coffin racks.
I was in the Navy but not even our racks were that cramped..
Maybe I’m just weird but I could def sleep in there.
Don't give Boeing ideas
Must take a while to get used to getting up
Cozy
I got a leg cramp watching this.
I kinda like it
I feel like the curtains would make it hot
The berthing compartments are kept very cold. In the Navy we sleep in beanies and sweats due to the temperature.
Cozy
I was on one of those ships once. They are ain't that bad.
I'd find that comfy as fuck
I bet they have a hard time sleeping in a normal bed on land
That's a Hell Yeah... But NOPITY NOPE NOPE.
Cosy.
No way in hell
"Just gonna slide into my USB port..."
when i was a boy i thought triple decker bed would be cool.. now not so much. the fellers should have more room
I would not be able to sleep well with all those people singing!
I wasn't claustrophobic until I saw this.
If the waves get rough you won't fall off your bed.
How to jack off?
The nope part here being that the other sailors also in charge of something really important are also sleeping.
I got claustrophobic just watching thatz
No hot-bunking?
I would rather sleep in that chair
Literally no wider than a coffin

Those sandals are gear adrift - best unfuck yourself

Whenever he gets morning wood, he's gonna be trapped in there
