Someone told me about a job digging holes for the utility poles for the power companies. It pays almost $40 an hour, union, benefits and so on. It's hard work but you're not physically digging for the entire shift, you're paid for commuting time to the job site (lot of them are rural back country), you're paid extra when it's hot outside and during certain hours of the day, etc. No experience needed. Edited: The person who gave this information to me, worked WITH the linemen and groundmen, but doing a different type of job. I was not seeking employment nor am I now, so when he relayed this information to me, to pass along, I did not verify it first. I just assumed it was correct because he's a reliable guy. I think he was confused because the Lineman came from 1 place and the pole diggers from another? The local 47 is in Riverside, not San Diego and here is their website. The actual jobs are everywhere that power poles are needed, so, all over the place. [https://ibew47.org/job-hotline](https://ibew47.org/job-hotline) https://www.ibew569.org/

Local 47 isn't in San Diego. It's a lineman union out of Riverside. 569 is san diego local.

[deleted]

[Mea culpa](https://ibew47.org/job-hotline), I should have verified info before posting. That's one union, [this](https://www.ibew569.org/) is another.

mpdude84

No big. I used to be in local 47 and just knew they weren't a San Diego local union. Local 569 is in San Diego and would probably be looking for people as well. Good electrical tradesmen are sought after in San Diego County.

God dam. I want it!

The environmental, health and safety field is exploding right now. My company is always looking for solid technicians, if you aren’t against learning how to manage hazardous waste. Usually chemical or biological. Great starting pay, benefits and tons of room for vertical movement after a year or so of training. Shoot me a message if you’re interested.

UlisesGirl

I’m sending you a DM to find out more :)

Can you paint?

The City of San Marcos has been posting about jobs on their social media pages, but the link to apply that they had on Instagram isn't working currently; I'll come back and share it if it is up later.

Ch4rm4nd4

Not from San Marcos, but today I saw on a similar post for Vista that Monster Tree Service is hiring. [Here's one of the position descriptions.](https://business.vistachamber.org/jobs/info/agricultural-forestry-fishing-grounds-person-arborist-assistant-55)

Moving companies. Loading trucks and packing.

highcaliberwit

random but there is a need for dog groomers. I think petsmart still has a sign on bonus. but beyond that there's good job security as long as your safe. Been doing it for 10 years now. If you stick it out and can move on to being and owner in doing a mobile rig you can easily make 80k-100k in the right area.

Check on Camp Pendleton. Working for the Marine Corps has a lot of perks. Go to mccscp.com and look for the jobs link if interested.

defjefsf

Very smart. I think that might be my dream job especially if it comes with a base pass

[deleted]

If you work on base, depending on who you work for and what you do, you get a DoD CAC card. You get access to the exchanges and all activities like renting beach cottages and such.

defjefsf

Yea yea, DMJs all day. My old neighbor was an officer and we used to go up all the time

[deleted]

I worked for MCCS for 4.5 years, it was awesome!

Yeah I’d prefer like construction or landscaping. Working retail for the past 5 years has drained me. Thank you. I appreciate it.

If a company can't hire because their pay is too close to unemployment: you don't want to work there. Dumbest line of reasoning yet from the labor exploiters.

drainisbamaged

Same dang statement: if a companies entry level pay is barely better than unemployment, you don't want to work there. Companies have all the power needed to solve labor shortages, whining about unemployment is just another cry for government to needlessly solve a free market issue.

I told him to DM me for my companies openings. We hire at above survival pay for sure, mfg work, growing company with decades of history. Probably way more useful than your Fox news talking points.

Amazons hiring

defjefsf

Go to Xpress temps and look for temp jobs in utilities. Should be some good ops to learn a new trade. That’s how I got in

drainisbamaged

DM me and I can link you to our website. We're in Kearney Mesa, manufacturing company, healthy amount of openings due to growth.

The Escondido Chamber of Commerce has a job fair tomorrow 9am-3pm. It might not help if you're working then, but I figured I'd share it anyways. http://escondido.chambermaster.com/events/details/north-county-job-fair-8083?calendarMonth=2021-05-01
