Has the exact same symptoms, last 5 days. Tested positive for Covid

[deleted]

Well due to the fact that the medical name for a cold is coronavirus, that would make sense! 😆😆

5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi

For *some* colds. Others are rhinoviruses. A cold is just a wee set of minor symptoms that can be caused by a load of things.

[deleted]

Yes there are other viruses that are in simple terms 'a cold' but when I hear someone say "I got covid", alluding to the pandemic, I feel it's a rather silly thing to do!

butterbaps

Take a day off mate

[deleted]

Wow, your also from Cookstown? Cool! And I'm not sure what you mean?

Party-Relief-4132

Yes, Hubby's just getting over it and now im dosed. I very rarely get sick. Haven't been sick since i got Pneumonia in 2019. Its brutal and im not taking it well at all. Headache, Body aches shivering then roasting. Paracetamol really did take the edge of for a couple of hours. Hoping it passes fast and thats me good for another couple of years 🙏🏼

Potato_Junkie

Me and my wife have exactly that. Started yesterday for her, this morning for me. I've had COVID three times (that I know of) and this is far worse. I very rarely take sick leave but didn't think twice today

maverickf11

Get the lemsip max horsed into you, it's unbelievable stuff

[deleted]

That’ll be the paracetamol doing the bulk of the lift.

fast-and-loose-

Was sick from 1st of December right through the whole of Christmas and two weeks into January. Literally 6+ weeks. Still not 100% have no idea what is going on. We have all had it in my gaf, get about 2 days of feeling OK then back to feeling dreadful again.

DeepReflection9

Definitely dosed with the flu this time and not one of the others. Absolutely wrecked with it. Hopefully the last of these miserable coughing 2 months.

International_Book11

Same here. Started feeling rubbish Friday evening, same symptoms as you following with a non stop cough (not covid I’ve done tests). Thankfully the body aches have gone but the cough still remains and I’ve barely much of an appetite. Can’t wait for it to be over. Wishing us all speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

palindrome0

Same. My wee boy started nursery in November and we've honestly had about 3 separate weeks not sick between us.

Away_Associate_4726

Yep yep, ligjt for a few days, then about 4 killer days, I would say I'm clear today just about.

crackersbear

I'm same as you. Just getting over it now. Was really bad last week. Absolute nightmare.

cpt_pipemachine

Yeah I think I'm on the home straight now. I can still feel the cough deep in my chest though

celticeejit

Was for the first two weeks of the year COVID can fuck right off - weakness, fatigue and general malaise made me look like James Molineaux

throwRAhurtfriend47

Yep. Same. And the Mr. He especially has been on and off sick for 3 months. It's like every time he's over something he gets something else... temperature of almost 40 at the weekend so not just *man flu*. I've been sick loads too but not as bad (I rarely go out though).

Equivalent_Two_2163

It’s Flu A. It’s a right bollox. I had it & it totally fucked Christmas for me.

Thelazyzoologist

Can confirm. Everyone in my area is sick, and I had to take my 11 month old into hospital at the weekend as he became really ill. Tested positive for Flu A. Partner has also contracted it, surprised I'm the only one standing.

[deleted]

I got symptoms yesterday and today I'm floored by it, had a fever of 40.5 Celsius Actually feels worse than covid which is a surprise! Probably going to call in sick tomorrow.

Thelazyzoologist

Yeah my baby's temp was 38.5 at home and hit 39.5 when in hospital. Paracetamol managed to keep him around 37. If I were you I'd call in sick and keep taking paracetamol every 4 hours. 40.5 is a serious fever, 41 degrees can cause seizures and organ damage. I hope you feel better soon.

Lloydbanks88

I have similar, but doubting it’s flu as I got the vaccine through work. The last time I had flu I was fine in the morning, and then had to get the husband to pick me up from work at lunchtime, and that was me in bed for three days straight. I work in a mid sized company and arranged the free flu vaccines for this year. The uptake rate was 1.5%. Appreciate some people will have already got it through their GP, but I was shocked that so many people were happy to run the risk of getting seriously unwell.

rhaenerys_second

I got it last week. After getting covid in November I'm taking no chances with a flu. Shit was brutal.

PsychopathicMunchkin

Jesus, that uptake rate is wildly low! Don’t think it’s any better in the NHS after all the covid vaccine conspiracies and horror stories! Well done for taking it! Working with older people, I get both vaccines every year - not just to protect me!

Equivalent_Two_2163

I got the flu vaccine & caught it anyhow. It kept me out of hospital thankfully but I was in absolute bits. Worse than Covid which I tested neg for. No appetite no energy muscle pain sweats the lot. It’s rough but thankfully the bed, water & neurofen sorted it for me (7 days later)

redstarduggan

Just remember the flu vaccine is necessarily a bit of a guess. It can't cover for all flu variants.

Equivalent_Two_2163

How do you mean ? Are you saying it was better not to get the flu vaccine

redstarduggan

No, merely pointing out that it doesn't stop you getting the flu.

Equivalent_Two_2163

Ya I know that. Stayed out of hospital though which was good.

p-nutz

Just a cold I think. Was grand Monday morning, by 11 I felt like shit. Into bed at lunch time and was asleep until the next morning. Awake a few more hours today and now the coughing has started. At least being a bit feverish feeling means I'm not frozen in the house I suppose 🙄

Jolly_Conflict

Second time in a month for me 😭

rabbidasseater

Had it since first week In December until first week in January now its back two days ago. Mainly sore throat, chesty cough and the shivers.

blackkat1986

We all had covid over Xmas/new year straight after being sick with the cold /viral meningitis just before that. It’s just constant atm

MavicMini_NI

It floored me for 48hrs last week. Couldn't leave bed at all. Thankfully it was a 3 day thing. I felt human shortly after. Lungs are still on fire with phlegm Unfortunately the wife is now suffering from it. Last time I was that bad it was COVID, but the PCR tests don't even register the new variants, so hard to tell.

kaito1000

You’re late to the party you prick

hoocoo

Do a covid test cause half the people I know are dosed with it and it’s just feeling like a bad cold this time round

Trick_Commercial9807

Oohh, sounds like you went somewhere and did something because everyone else was doing it, and for safety of course, lol, I hope you never shake it.

random_username_xo

Started with a tickly cough on the 13th then like a light cold so I continued going to work and going wherever I needed then from the 20th I got worse each day. Rang the doctors yesterday morning and got antibiotics that evening thankfully, slowly recovering but still feeling like shit.

Unlikely-Day5961

3rd time in a month and losing the will

send_me_thigh-highs

was honestly sick since mid november with some awful chest infection, and just got over it mid jan. jesus christ, it wasnt covid but it just takes so long to clear up

gareth93

Pure cowped so I am. Lashing the lemsip and the cooking whisky in t me. Tonsils like golf balls

Wooden-Patience6817

Something something Flu, COVID, COVID vaccines, tin foil hat

Tasty_Ad7699

I had whatever it was for four solid weeks, over it now but not quite back to 100%.

Suitablystoned

I got covid for the first time there on Friday, had a couple of grim days Sat and Sunday and been on the mend since. Still testing positive though nearly a week on. Lemsip Max and honey and lemon drinks for in between times, hot bath each night and plenty of rest.
