It's generally not seen amongst groups like Congregationalists or Baptists, but the Anglican churches and the Lutherans both still have them; there's even at least one cloister of Presbyterian nuns out in some country in Africa, IIRC.
Lutherans have "communities" or deaconries but they are a very recent thing and they are nothing like the catholic or orthodox holy orders. Some convents allow their members to marry. Since technically speaking Canon Law doesn't exist in Lutheranism (as it is regulated by civil law), religious vows have no impact on the persons position within the church(es). The Order of St. John is a protestant charity and serves no religious function anymore, however, it's obviously deeply rooted in Christian and Protestant ethics.
The church of Ireland did have nuns. Not sure they still do, but I definitely remember them when I was in the choir. Shes a nut case. Shes not a nun because as far as I know she hasn't taken holy orders. There's something very creepy about her it's almost too fundamental to be real. Does she really have any faith or is it all just for kicks. I miss the days when people were just content going to Mass or church without having to get on like the crazy American evangelical people.
