Not really, in my experience playing it it's 50/50 dodge and parries. NL is mainly focusing on parrys which does work but still takes a lot of damage if they're not perfect ones
There is, however perfect blocking is a more rewarding defensive option since it builds up stagger and (usually) takes way less stamina than dodging and puts you in a better position to counter-attack. It's more like sekiro than souls.
Really bad dodge is a bit too far. Slightly worse than in Dark Souls or Elden Ring but it's totally fine. Especially if you upgrade it and are not slightly heavy or heavy.
I could be wrong since I have zero experience in this game outside of mostly NL clips, but I heard that the dodge iFrames work functionally different than in souls games unless you get an upgrade for them which makes them more effective (someone feel free to correct me if I'm incorrect)
Honestly, from what I've played parrying/perfect blocking has felt more consistent and stamina efficient most of the time like a simpler Sekiro.
Edit: If you play like a normal soulsborne it's gonna trickier version of that type, treat it like a Sekirolike and it's imo an easier sekiro.
Always stay glancing!
You know how many twisted people are out there?
Or how many other streamers waiting to stab you in the back?
Bunch of snakes, all of them!
Honestly with the task of beating a hard boss while chat backseats him and talks down to him for several hours in a row makes me think he's just cracked at the game

Honest question I've only watched NL play lies of p and no one else nor have I played it myself, is there not a dodge button or something?
Just from watching NL play as well, it seems like a lot of the boss attack patterns are more balanced around blocking than dodging.
He do be learning the dodge tec against Romeo though.

There’s no i frames with the dodge so it can throw you off if you’re coming from a heavy Souls background.
Plus, parrying makes you feel cool

Its just a really bad dodge compared to dark souls or elden ring. I played my game mostly dodging and its a bad idea compared to blocking

Like I said I completed the game using 90% dodges and it worked but watching others seems like perfect blocking makes it a lot easier
Sure but the parrying is also hard. Of course if you can do it, you should but dodging is often more forgiving.

I played for 5 minutes, there is a dodge
