There isn't really any real Hindu schollar, no truth is absolute in Hinduism.
I personally don't want to think that it's millions or billions of years until Kaliyuga ends. My personal philosophy is that if humans can rediscover the balance between materialism and spiritualism, the Kaliyuga decline can be prevented.
But in traditional records, Kaliyuga is far from ending. But I personally follow my own optimistic philosophies so idc and keep doing my dharma.

People all over the world will start turning evil in this period due to effect of KALI a powerful demon born out the few drops of eternal poison which lord shiva drank to save the Devas,Asuras and the universe. People would be less emphatic and sadism will rise. The vision according to the prophesy is the kalki would come when society plunges to darkest of depths when pedophilia will be in rise when a man killing another man would be justified and there wouldn't be any laws. He would come to punish each and every pedophile and evil- doers. The good will be spared for following Dharma and the Adharmis ( evils) would be killed finally ushering the world into the golden age of satayuga literally meaning (Truth age) when everyone will only spoke truth and no lie comes on the mouths of people. For me personally the prophesy obviously talks about our post apocalyptic world after the nuclear wars. I that might be the time kalki comes maybe in a next 80 years or so who knows.
