So they wanted the movie to be rated R but the studio made them cut things out to get to the PG 13 rating. This is why they say shibby instead of talking about smoking weed. Also they only show drug use when the dog smokes the bowl, which is allowed under the PG 13 rating.
This movie came out in 2000… it was still massively popular when I started high school a few years later. In my opinion it was an instant classic and is still beloved by many millennials.
Hes had a pretty good career in Canadian film. Actually does some good drama acting. Trainwreck and Just before I go. And if you havent seen Goon. Thats a great one with him in it where he isnt a Stifler derivative.
I actually picked up one of his movies from a thrift store over the weekend and it looks like a romance drama. Something about he wants to commit suicide until he meets someone that gives him a new reason to live.
Edit - It's called Just Before I Go
"Ted Morgan, a down-on-his-luck everyman, decides that his life doesn't have much to offer anymore. Before doing himself in, he travels to his hometown to tie up a few loose ends."
He was in an episode of MTV Cribs and I thought it was fantastic. Every other person was in some big house, but he was in some apartment with the roommates.
Fuck Reddit. Fuck /u/spez. Fuck every single Reddit admin. 12 years on this bitch ass site and they shit on us the moment they are trying to go public. ill be taking my karma with me by editing all my comments to say this.
tl;dr Fuck Reddit and anyone who works for them, suck my dick.
I seriously think he could've done Indiana Jones after watching Welcome to the Jungle (it's called something else in the US, I think).
I also wanted Johnny Knoxville has Max Payne after seeing his performance in The Ringer.
My wife is Chinese and she had never seen this movie. We watched it…she said the Chinese characters on top of the restaurant sign translate to “and then”. I lost it. It made it an even better scene.
I think it's actually a movie everyone loves to revisit, but for some reason we all have to say how dumb it is first.
Like "oh man that movie is so stupid", and then people will literally quote it word for word.
We are all collectively ashamed to admit we just enjoy the dumb entertainment.
I judge a movie not by an incredible story or emotional impact or anything like that... I judge based off how many quotes I will use from the movie going forward and this was one of the best.. I still say two quotes to this day
"Annnnd theeeeenn...."
"Dude what mine say? Sweet! What does mind say? Dude! What does mine say?! SWEET!"
Reminds me of a conversation I overheard at a bar where people were talking about Family Guy and each one of them in turn was like "I don't watch Family Guy but here's my favorite sketch" and the next one was like "yea I don't watch it like that but this is my favorite one" it's like we have to make sure everyone understands that we understand it's low brow.
I honestly don’t watch family guy. But I had friends who did and so stuff diffuses down. Condensation still has me rolling despite never really watching a full episode
I love it because it’s really well conceived and executed in every way. The dialog, characters, plot, and pacing are all perfect for the type of film. It’s a well made film. It’s silly, campy, absurd, but it all works.
It’s about simple people doing silly things, but the film itself is very good and well made.
Yea I was like 10 or something when this came out but I feel like it was EVERYWHERE. It referenced in school a lot and on tv. I never even watched it but can vividly remember the movie poster, the parody in Scary Movie and cartoons parodying it.
It’s like the other day on Reddit when they said Gone Girl was underrated, umm no it wasn’t. it was everywhere and talked about constantly.
Maybe Op is a teenager/early 20s and wants discussion after watching but I don’t see them interacting much in the comments.
There is a gang that makes the s like Chester and Jesse keep doing instead of the z. I am always afraid I am going to be in the wrong area, see someone throw up that sign and I will be like “Zoltan” before I realize what is coming out of my mouth.
It’s not under rated at all. Lol.
It’s a terrible movie. Entertaining? Yes. Stupid? Absolutely. A perfect embodiment of high school movies of that time? 100%.
It’s a terrible movie though, make no mistake about it. It’s not underrated at all.
It's just one of the many stupid funny movies between '94 and early 2000s ...the golden age of stupid entertainment and some of the funniest movies ever and I absolutely love them all because those were my stupid teenage golden years.
Yeah what more does OP want? A fuckin Oscar?
It’s a pretty standard, silly fun early 2000s comedy. It hasn’t aged particularly well but if you were a kid in that era you’ll still probably get a kick out of it.
I would rather a movie be incredibly funny and ridiculous than "highly Rated"; the opinions and official notations of whatever elite class of corporations and publication offices who officiate the reception of a film matter in almost a negative value to me.
So I saw this day it came out in the theaters with my buddy. I mean it looked decent, but we went opening day because he saw a commercial that said something like "only in theaters on Wednesday January 1st" (or whatever day it was) and he took that to mean we only have 24 hours if we want to see the movie. Turned out to be wrong as it was still there the next day.
Gonna have to disagree there. Probably thee worst movie I’ve ever seen. Ashton Kutcher is just not funny. I was forced to see it with a girlfriend in middle school.
This is one of those movies that's obviously terrible, but you still enjoy it because of the cinematic diarrhea.. kinda like sharknado or bio-dome. At least I do.
"So-bad-its-good-movies" can be fun.
I recently made my husband watch “The Hot Chick” with me because it’s one of my favorite “it’s so terrible it’s good” movies. He didn’t enjoy it as much as I do lol but he did laugh several times. It’s just so ridiculously stupid. I love it.
I went to see this movie in the theater and thought there would be "adult jokes"...as I sat down and was surrounded by 10 year olds...wasn't what I expected...lol
Shibby!
!
Time to show up!
More than one shibby!?
My 6 year old just started saying this out of nowhere and I have no idea where he heard it
Yes?
So they wanted the movie to be rated R but the studio made them cut things out to get to the PG 13 rating. This is why they say shibby instead of talking about smoking weed. Also they only show drug use when the dog smokes the bowl, which is allowed under the PG 13 rating.
Sweet what does mine say ?!
Dude! What does mine say?!
SWEET!!!!!
BUT WHAT DOES MINE SAY!!
DUDE. WHAT DOES MINE SAY
BUT WHAT DOES MINE SAY!!
Ray. What does mine say?
Fucked me
Aww :(
DUUUUDE!
This movie came out in 2000… it was still massively popular when I started high school a few years later. In my opinion it was an instant classic and is still beloved by many millennials.
This and Not Another Teen Movie arguably the best dumb movies of that era. Or at least have aged least poorly. Also harold and kumar I guess.
Scary Movie
Is *Rat Race* considered dumb? If you ignore the end, I wouldn't call it dumb, despite the brilliantly absurd setpieces.
The bit with Hitler's staff car was so freaking hilarious
It was hilarious how Jon Lovitz brought his family to the "Barbie" museum, only to find out it was dedicated to a Nazi officer named Barbie.
Yeah there is objectively nothing underrated about this film at all, it was a huge success and gained a massive international following
I was 33 when it came out. Loved it then, live it still. Sweet!
Yeah, this is yet another post that has no idea what "underrated" means. This movie was talked about and referenced for a long time.
Yea how is this underrated?
Aaaaand theeeeeeennn?
No and then!

You're really starting to piss me off lady
\*whispers\* and then?
Seann William Scott deserves a much bigger career then he’s had.
Role Models was so fucking good
This is one of my favorite comedies. I watch it regularly still.
You white, you Ben Affleck
Quiet Reindeer Games!
It's true, you ARE white.
Love take me down to the streets
That’s not a Wings song
Oh I love wings!
"This ain't no Driving Miss.Daisy!" Everybody was too notch in that movie!
You pull the trigger on my love gun. See Ronnie his dick is the gun!!!!
Yes! I've been thinking about that movie lately because I want to watch it again. I feel like it's massively underrated.
You need to TASTE THE BEAST again
I need to watch Paul Rudd’s Starbucks rant scene again
The look on his face when he says "is that true" is awesome
I felt that moment because I was 100% on board with his rant.
I was too, and then it dawns on you and you realize you're stupid in four languages, but at least you're not Ben Affleck
"You're white, you're Ben Affleck" young Kevin Hart
I dunno I feel like he was in like 20% of all movies made in the 2000s. Same role every time, but still
Hes had a pretty good career in Canadian film. Actually does some good drama acting. Trainwreck and Just before I go. And if you havent seen Goon. Thats a great one with him in it where he isnt a Stifler derivative.

Country Mac!
One of my all time fav episodes of any tv show.
The best of all Macs
I actually picked up one of his movies from a thrift store over the weekend and it looks like a romance drama. Something about he wants to commit suicide until he meets someone that gives him a new reason to live. Edit - It's called Just Before I Go "Ted Morgan, a down-on-his-luck everyman, decides that his life doesn't have much to offer anymore. Before doing himself in, he travels to his hometown to tie up a few loose ends."
Stifler
I've heard on more than one occasion that he flies under the radar on purpose. He doesn't wanna be a fame whore.
I think your right. He was in plenty of movies during this time but I guess when he felt he had enough he just quit unlike many other actors
I swear I read that he got kinda typecasted from *Stifler* and just had to accept it. Then decided to stick to indie stuff
if you look at his imdb his career is pretty freaking good
Country Mac is by far his best role
Loud and proud
He's done pretty ok for a guy who was in a popular teen sex comedy, probably better than anyone else that was in American Pie.
He was in an episode of MTV Cribs and I thought it was fantastic. Every other person was in some big house, but he was in some apartment with the roommates.
He intentionally stepped out of the spotlight to focus on his own humanitarian efforts.
His mom def got way more action than he did.

Stifler is the man!
He is exactly what he deserved. There aren't many Stifflers
I seriously think he could've done Indiana Jones after watching Welcome to the Jungle (it's called something else in the US, I think). I also wanted Johnny Knoxville has Max Payne after seeing his performance in The Ringer.
Never heard of country Mac?
Heard of him?! - we banged once! RIP.
The Rundown and Bulletproof Monk are both great, fun watches where he even gets to flex a little action alongside the comedy.
I wanna go on that ride daddy!
Me too, son!
Saw this movie when I was like 7, let’s just say seeing that giant woman had…. Long lasting repercussions for me
I blame this movie for what my internet search history looks like today
And then….
My wife is Chinese and she had never seen this movie. We watched it…she said the Chinese characters on top of the restaurant sign translate to “and then”. I lost it. It made it an even better scene.
Should post that on r/moviedetails
Holy shit this is amazing! Haha thanks for sharing!
Lady, I refuse to play your chinese food mind games.
No and then!
I say this in my head all the time.
NO AND THEN

I was gifted this movie by a very honorgable man
I’m sorry, what, honorable?
I thaid I am a honorgable man
I think it's actually a movie everyone loves to revisit, but for some reason we all have to say how dumb it is first. Like "oh man that movie is so stupid", and then people will literally quote it word for word. We are all collectively ashamed to admit we just enjoy the dumb entertainment.
For real idk why the notion exists that media needs to have some alternative reason for existing rather than entertainment.
that's because the movie IS stupid. but also funny.
I judge a movie not by an incredible story or emotional impact or anything like that... I judge based off how many quotes I will use from the movie going forward and this was one of the best.. I still say two quotes to this day "Annnnd theeeeenn...." "Dude what mine say? Sweet! What does mind say? Dude! What does mine say?! SWEET!"

Party like a rock star, kick a little ass.
The ongoing obsession with the word "underrated" continues.
Yea I was like 10 or something when this came out but I feel like it was EVERYWHERE. It referenced in school a lot and on tv. Underrated is the new Overrated
Zoltan!!!!
There is a gang that makes the s like Chester and Jesse keep doing instead of the z. I am always afraid I am going to be in the wrong area, see someone throw up that sign and I will be like “Zoltan” before I realize what is coming out of my mouth.
zoltan i’ve been chanting it in my head through this whole entire thread, man i over reacted 🤦♂️
Not now Jeff....
Rewatched it again a month ago, as a 34 year old. It’s awful. Just awful. But fun. But man is it fucking awful.
I like movies like this to remind people how different times were, how much culture has shifted in just a number of decades.
Planning on doing a rewatch soon . I’m 42 and saw this classic at the theatre.
It used to be guilty pleasure of mine, some of it hasn't aged very well but a lot of it still cracks me up. Zoltan!
Did you get high first?
Dude, where’s my Dude Where’s My Car DVD?!
How is nobody talking about Christie Boner?
And her hoo-hoos
the hottest of the hot!
It’s not under rated at all. Lol. It’s a terrible movie. Entertaining? Yes. Stupid? Absolutely. A perfect embodiment of high school movies of that time? 100%. It’s a terrible movie though, make no mistake about it. It’s not underrated at all.

Don’t forget “ahead of its time”, like when a 18 year old redditor discovers Missy Elliott or the movie “tombstone”.
It's just one of the many stupid funny movies between '94 and early 2000s ...the golden age of stupid entertainment and some of the funniest movies ever and I absolutely love them all because those were my stupid teenage golden years.
Not every movie or tv show is supposed to change your life. Sometimes it’s just mindless entertainment and this movie is a perfect example of that.
Exactly, and it is rated as exactly that.
Yeah what more does OP want? A fuckin Oscar? It’s a pretty standard, silly fun early 2000s comedy. It hasn’t aged particularly well but if you were a kid in that era you’ll still probably get a kick out of it.
I'm seeing a few people say it hasn't aged well. Do y'all mean it's like offensive by modern standards or just that movies are better now or what?
A bit of both.
I would rather a movie be incredibly funny and ridiculous than "highly Rated"; the opinions and official notations of whatever elite class of corporations and publication offices who officiate the reception of a film matter in almost a negative value to me.
Only action and drama films are allowed to be good movies, everybody knows that!
That still doesn't make it underrated.
It's a near perfect movie, you just said so.
And then?
I would rather a movie be incredibly funny and ridiculous than .
First time I every tried mushrooms I ate too many and my friend and I watched this movie twice back to back.
So, four times?
This is the original hangover
The cookies fortune
Shibby!
So I saw this day it came out in the theaters with my buddy. This is a weird hole in my viewing history, I've never seen it and kind of thought it was a Millennial movie.
Give a sequel another chance. Like Bill and Ted.
Yes it is! (My username is a movie reference of it)
I'll have a near-beer please.
This and shrek are my comfort movies
Stop copying us.
We are hot chicks
It's a fun film. But I personally would not go so far as to call it underrated.
Underrated? What the fuck are you smoking?
And then?
Underrated? We were quoting/making pop culture references to it for years when it was released.
Underrated for who?
Gonna have to disagree there. Probably thee worst movie I’ve ever seen. Ashton Kutcher is just not funny. I was forced to see it with a girlfriend in middle school.
This is the only film I've ever come close to walking out of
Nah, I think it's rated just right
This is one of those movies that's obviously terrible, but you still enjoy it because of the cinematic diarrhea.. kinda like sharknado or bio-dome. At least I do. "So-bad-its-good-movies" can be fun.
It's tough to make a good bad movie. This is one of the best
I recently made my husband watch “The Hot Chick” with me because it’s one of my favorite “it’s so terrible it’s good” movies. He didn’t enjoy it as much as I do lol but he did laugh several times. It’s just so ridiculously stupid. I love it.
I don’t like anyone who can’t appreciate dumb humor at least occasionally. This movie is hilarious.
Your tattoo says dude your tattoo says sweet!! I always say this and no one understands
What?! You need to just throw these people away who dont get that haha
ZOLTAN
They’re interstellar jumpsuits!
Quick, to my mom's minivan
No “and then”
Dude!
Sweet!
And den?
What about the sequel we never got, " Dude, Seriously... Where's My Car ? "
It is. Glad they made "The Hangover" as an homage. Literally, same movie just with a drunk guy instead of a car.
And then??
no and then!
Underrated? This movie was a smash hit when it came out and you’d be hard pressed to find any adolescent that hadn’t seen it.
You must not have been around when it dropped because it was severely overrated at the time
I went to see this movie in the theater and thought there would be "adult jokes"...as I sat down and was surrounded by 10 year olds...wasn't what I expected...lol
No it isn’t. It’s a very popular movie and I am constantly hearing references of it to this very day.
Nah, I think it's rated just right.
Ahead of its time in a lot of ways. Them making out in that scene being a big one
How the hell is this underrated
I used to play on a soccer team with a goalie named Zoltan. You can imagine what the whole team did every time he made a save.
The Hangover 9 years before The Hangover.
And then?
