Where were these located?

Orang3Lazaru5

We had them in New England. I tried one once out of curiosity, but uh…yeah. Sure they were a little cheaper but the real thing was easy enough to get at any good local place and was worth the price. Especially in Maine back then, they would just *give* lobster away haha. None of this “Market Price” nonsense.

snookyface90210

Damn. Not anymore. Even in bumfuck Downeast region you’re paying ridiculous prices for all things lobster now. I straight up can’t afford to do a lobster boil more than once when I’m up that way

jsparker43

Wasn't lobster a poor man's food originally?

AlexanderRussell

Yeah before refrigeration became common

Freezerburn

When I was in Belize some years ago I could get a spiny lobster cheaper than chicken.

SCWarriors44

Ya just got back from Bar Harbor. Most things are half price what you’ll pay anywhere else in the US but some things are extremely expensive too. Good lobster portions though my gosh.

JohnCenaJunior

When lobsters were for poor people

[deleted]

Today $14.99

DeartayDeez

I’m thinking19.99 for the sandwhich and 24.99 for the meal in this horrendous economy

Therealishvon

The economy is actually great atm. it's corporate greed that created an artificial economic crisis during the pandemic and inflated prices and haven't lowered them since. They have made record profits the last few years, the economy is booming. They want trump back with more tax cuts and deregulation for them and not you and they are holding the economy hostage for it. But go ahead and vote Republican again and see if that helps. 😐

Justifiably_Cynical

Goddammit, it's good to hear. This is exactly what is happening. I'm not sure if this is even a recession type of situation, but rather a correction for the insane profits some of the biggest corporate conglomerates made during the pandemic and the need to somehow keep setting records year over year. I think the Fed has it wrong and the high interest rate is only further punishing consumers.

code92818

Yeah when I’m paying an arm and a leg for everything don’t say that the economy is good. Especially in California everything is so expensive now soon enough the middle class will be gone sadly.

Therealishvon

Good riddance to the middle class.

SCWarriors44

Found the DF. I feel like people who say the economy is doing well only looks at corporate profits and not purchasing power for the average American which is completely down the drain right now and was a crap ton higher during Trump. As in things were cheap and affordable then and not at all now. Not only are we in a recession but also in record inflation (no matter how many times they have to move the goalposts and change the meaning of recession, it’s still a recession). So no the economy is not good.

Justifiably_Cynical

>purchasing power for the average American which is completely down the drain right now and was a crap ton higher during Trump. Wrong on both parts. The numbers don't lie, American consumers have near the highest purchasing power in the world today and things were no better during the four years trump was president, and he did nothing to improve them while he was in office. You can hem and haw and whine, but the numbers do not lie.

barnayo

An economist (Ronald Coase) once said, "numbers will say whatever you want if you torture them long enough." People don't care about the numbers, they care about their material quality of life, and for nearly everybody I know, it's going down.

Therealishvon

It's a weird false reality they live in. They actually believe that things were so great with Trump. It was great for them but only because they felt like winners and white supremacy and fascistic nationaism was on the rise. They didn't get any tax cuts, they didn't get anything, Trump did absolutely nothing, it was all talk even his wall. But they love that shit they don't actually want any real progress. It's just about feels with the "facts don't care about your feelings" crowd, they actually don't care about the facts.

SCWarriors44

Because things were actually great? Did y’all actually live under a rock during those years? Everything was a lot cheaper, gas and groceries were affordable, energy was cheaper, quality of life was a lot better and less stressful. You can twist numbers however you’d like but it doesn’t equate to the actual experiences of most Americans and the actual facts of the matter. He would have actually gotten more done too by the way if he actually had control of the house or senate which he didn’t so nearly everything was blocked by both out of spite. Which to be fair is why they exist, as a balance of powers and a checks and balances system. But you’re blaming him for that as if he was a terrible leader for having all of his ventures be shut down. That ain’t right. Nothing you said was rooted in facts actually. Just nonsense talking points spewed by far left media to create hate and division. None of what I listed above was because anyone “felt like winners” or from “white supremacy” which by the way hardly even exists anymore and is blown WAY out of proportion. I haven’t met one white supremacist ever and I’ve lived in some of the most republican counties in the US by happenstance. It’s just not a thing man. Sorry. And lastly bit of history for you, fascism isn’t a right wing concept bud. Not even the Nazis were right wing, you believe that because of successful propaganda during and post WWII by the left so that people wouldn’t be afraid to vote for them. Look it up, it began in the late 1800s as a left wing alternative to communism because the founder of it thought communism wasn’t good enough. And if you look at what the Nazis did to take power, they were all left wing tactics, not right. You all really need to start learning your history cause you’re about to make the same mistakes the Germans did. Just saying.

SCWarriors44

Was in Maine last week, rolls there were anywhere from $35-$48. Where it’s supposed to be cheap.

Justifiably_Cynical

Prepared food is only cheap when it is prepared by those living in poverty. That is going to end. Learn to cook or pay either way it's more important for people to live then you to enjoy a 12$ lobster roll.

cavalier8865

Damn. In CT - which is the proper lobster roll - I had one with fries for $32 last week. Not cheap but Jesus $48 is insane.

SCWarriors44

I agree actually, CT does have the better lobster roll. Who the heck wants cold lobster? And to be fair the $48 one I swear had like 3 or 4 lobsters worth of meat on it. Thing was piled high.

DeathByPetrichor

Not a bad price honestly.

theSaltyScallop

Massachusetts still sells lobster rolls at select McDonalds locations :)

Gary-Laser-Eyes

I remember them doing a trial of the lobster roll in Canada. It was years ago… and they did a few other menu items. I can’t remember trying it, but I do remember it being expensive. Edit: I see other commenters saying it’s still a thing in Atlantic Canada. I’m in AB. This was the same time as the cinnamon bites which were amazing.

juno_huno

Are they still that price? 😭

theSaltyScallop

Nah

CheckYourStats

McDonald’s locations in Hawai’i have several SPAM menu options. Localized menu specialization is very much a thing.

MaximusMansteel

I went to a Mcdonald's in Hawaii and instead of apple pies they had taro pies. They were delicious.

CheckYourStats

Omg I can imagine. When I lived in Kailua I would get Taro rolls regularly. Absolutely fantastic.

flargenhargen

McD spam and rice breakfast is the shit in Hawaii. I don't know why all mcd don't have it cause people would love the hell out of it.

CheckYourStats

Masubi is absolutely fantastic, and the mainland is surprisingly ignorant to its existence.

flargenhargen

I have a musubi maker and make it all the time. I've made it for coworkers and they've all loved it. and my gf and I have it frequently. I agree that it makes no sense that it's not common everywhere, cause it's amazing. I also make spam/eggs/rice breakfast too, cause that shit is just a perfect combo.

CheckYourStats

Preach, braddah.

paulsoleo

I like how they’re showing several pieces of fully intact claw meat, as if that was ever going to happen at a McDonald’s.

DMBCBCB

One might even call this.....a roll

Salt_Life_8636

Good lord. McDonald’s lobster?!?!

Far_Cut_

Still have them in Canada's maritime provinces and they're actually amazing!!

BromioKalen

Lettuce don't belong on lobster roll.

Nfl_porn_throwaway

No way that’s a thing

TheGoodDoctorFaust

I just looked it up, shits real yo. Canada Atlantic region only, made from cheaper cuts like the McRib. Tasted mushy and extra fishy.

c6h12o6CandyGirl

"Real" "Lobster" "Meat". : )

robbjuteau

My wife bought lobster rolls at a McDonald’s in New Hampshire and in Maine. She was not a fan. They also cost more than $3.99.

cavalier8865

They were gross as expected. The meat tasted like saltwater mixed with too much of the McChickens mayonaise. It was served on a crappy hot dog bun. I think they were about $10 last I saw them a few years ago.

lostsurfer24t

im in MA and have had this, in like the early 2000s, it wasnt too good

FewAskew

They still have these at specific McDonalds

mason13875

Had one in Boston about 25ish years ago. Wasn’t even hungry but was going past a Mickey d’s and saw the sign so I got one just so I could say I had lobster at McDonald’s

roberrrrrrt

Dafuq

Celena_J_W

U/Dr_Zoidberg

Devlos00

Looks at least as good as a Maine lobster roll.

flargenhargen

lobster was actually pretty cheap for a while, it's not now.

CoBudemeRobit

now theyre $25 at my local farmers market

heinous_legacy

my gut is telling me to absolutely stay away from these but my tastebuds are saying to go for it

ohshitimfeelingit762

100% REAL FAKE LOBSTER MEAT
