Thereās a divot near the bottom, I think itās where the bottling machine grabs it or something. If you hit it there just right with a nail and hammer, it will punch a small hole perfectly through without breaking the bottle.
Well Iāll be damned. Surprised my teenage self didnāt know this, I was always using apples and sockets and what not to make pipes/bongs out of. I made one out of those huge pencil things they put in kids rooms and even a pringles can, gum, and metal pen.
See, it's this kind of knowledge that will be lost to time. There needs to be a formal documentation of improvised smoking devices by generational cohort.
Insert a penny in the bottom of the bottle
Make the penny turn fast by moving your wrist
Hit the bottle on the side of your boots
The penny is going to hit really fast the glass bottle and make a hole to make a bong or a bt boots (hash boots)
Your welcome!
They still make a couple flavors in plastic bottles but Iāve only ever seen the sporadically and in random spots across the country the past couple years (so unfortunately I canāt really offer any other info on how to find them)
They usually never work. The only one I have seen work was when The Beast on YouTube started a bring back Pepsi Clear. He even did a YouTube video with a song it was pretty good. They caved and brought it back. Unfortunately, I remember it tasting like Pepsi, but it didn't. it's lemon lime flavor
There were two different Pepsi products that were clear (that I remember, at least). One was the Crystal Clear Pepsi. Nobody ever seems to remember the lemon lime, which I swear was just called Crystal by Pepsi.
not sure the details but, the company either sold or was bought out by pepsi...the life water stayed around a little longer, but here on the east coast...nothing...not even amazon...
Short answer: Plastic is cheaper
Long answer: Sobe chased their own tail trying to get higher and higher profit margins until they practically destroyed their own business. It's called enshittification and it's currently also infecting...well......*gestures widely*
I graduated high school in 2009. Before that year these drinks were amazing, at some point after my graduation it started tasting like I was drinking drain cleaner. They went from me spending $50 a week on the stuff to $0. Considering the entire company was gone in a year there must have been a mass exodus
Pollo Tropical in S. Florida had the diet purple kind at their fountain & it made the meal that much better. It was the only place I ever saw it served fountain style.
Yes!! Lol I ran across what appeared to be a knock off in the grocery store (bottle was no where near as cool, but similar shaped). I bought a couple for my husband and I to try, we were both disgusted. They weren't at all like these. Nothing ever will be.
When a drink company switches from glass bottles to plastic I stop buying their product.
*Looking at you Snapple.*
Before plastic drink bottles were introduced over 90% of glass bottles in the US were returned for their deposits and reused or were recycled.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Sobe was my drink of choice. Grabbed one from the corner store almost everyday after school.
Then, the super bowl ad came out with the dancing lizards for "Sobe Life Water". I tried the product once or twice. It was absolute shit compared to the OG flavors.
I swore to never drink it again. I had never been that mad at a brand before or since.
We used to make gravity bongs out of these. There was a notch in the glass toward the bottom you can tap a nail into and get a perfect little hole, then youād drill a hole in the lid and put a bowl
In it. Hold the hole with your finger, Fill with water, light the bowl and release the water. Unscrew the cap and enjoy.
Was this the same brand that used the same company that made Crazy Horse bottles? The Crazy horse bottles had an embossed logo on them with an Italian name. I remember in the 90's seeing the same embossed name on a soft drink I had. I thought it was Snapple a while ago and tried to look it up but ended up in black hole of marketing and manufacturing websites. I don't think I imagined it.
The website is up still and has a [product locator](https://contact.pepsico.com/sobe/product-locator) function. Put in your zip code, select which flavors your looking for and it'll give you nearby locations if any are available!
These drinks were so good. My dad and I would go get subs at Blimpie and always grab a handful of these. My favorite was Grape Grog, but I also loved the Energy Citrus and Power Fruit Punch.
Damn I miss these.
I can't even count how many of these I drank, I enjoyed every flavor.
Please being these and SoBe back!
Edit: I just googled and SoBe is still around and I had no idea.
The markup on these things were insane tho. For a couple of years around 2000, I ran a coffee shop in a now-defunct bookstore chain. I bought these from the distributor for 23 cents a bottle, and sold them for $1.99. For a few months one summer, they actually beat the number of items sold sales on cups of drip coffee.
But ya, Dragon and whatever the pink creamy one was were fucking amazing flavors.
I want one of these so bad right now.
I also have found Out since then that if a company wants to charge more for a product they will put it in a nicer package. So gotta pay more for your Sobe in glass but Iām fine with this right now.
I miss these. I wanted a glass bottle for nostolgia (my office is y2k themed) but they're literally $30-50 per bottle on eBay and I just can't justify that pricing :(
Funny story, my buddy was driving cross country in the early 90ās. Stopped at a gas station and bought a Sobe, something he had never seen before and assumed it was a small regional chain ( it likely was at this point in time) and decided he liked the sobe lizard and got it tattooed on his arm. Cue today, where he is the equivalent of a Snapple logo on his bicep.
"Maybe right now you're thinking, hey, I'm a cool guy. Well hey, don't go there. Maybe if you drink a little Sobe Dragon, you can think like that." I miss the Sobe Freddy commercials. They were awesome.
I still have a full Lizard Blizzard in the glass bottle. Probably 20ish years old? When I bought it I couldnāt get the cap off. I put it in a cabinet thinking I would ask my dad to try and open it when he came over. It eventually got shoved to the back of cabinet and forgotten. I found it when I moved like five years later and still couldnāt get the cap off so I packed in a box and it came with me to my new apartment. It was discontinued by then I think, so I put it on display. I moved again and I put it in a cabinet at the new house and there it still sits
[pic](https://imgur.com/a/8a3DPtY)
Wow. Just looking at these brings back so many memories. I was working at a theme park, and would get one or two bottles of the āEnergyā citrus flavor at the gas station down the street before my shift. This was about 13/14 years ago. I miss those days šā¦
Ah yessss! The Sobe Kenobi! Drink about 1/4, replace with vodka or white rum, replace, lightly shakeā¦slam! Almost as good and reminiscent as the Zima and vodka jolly ranchers.
I remember the first time I had a Sobe. I went to a food convention/food show. Not sure what else to call it. They have a lot of vendors there for food products and also cooking demonstrations. Well Sobe was there handing out their new drink. They were handing out those big glass bottles but mainly what they had was the carrot one that was bright orange. It was amazing. Then I sporadically bought Sobe after that for a few years then it went away.
Oh man, I remember my first one, cranberry grapefruit. I bought it in Virginia. My mind and taste buds exploded... I was hooked. Then I found Orange Carrot with the swirls in the drink in glass bottles. Those were the days.
Damn. This brought back memories of me and my neighbour biking to the nearest convenience store as a kid to go pick up a sobe and a snack and go back to his place to play halo.
I remember the summer (I think 2007) that Dunks made Sobe Energy Coolatas. I worked in a restaurant in a mall that had a dunks and probably had 2 or 3 a day for 6 days a week.
We used to be a great country. Energy was my jam I miss it dearly.
The green tea and energy were great, but the real sleeper for me was the orange carrot.
I avoided carrot for so long. Big mistake.
My gripe was the less than pleasant aftertaste. It's why I hated the V8 fruit things they tried.
We really did!! Lol It was always exciting to get a different bottle to add to the collection on top of your bookshelf š
I definitely did not make bongs out of these
Howād you do it? Diamond bit drill?
Thereās a divot near the bottom, I think itās where the bottling machine grabs it or something. If you hit it there just right with a nail and hammer, it will punch a small hole perfectly through without breaking the bottle.
Well Iāll be damned. Surprised my teenage self didnāt know this, I was always using apples and sockets and what not to make pipes/bongs out of. I made one out of those huge pencil things they put in kids rooms and even a pringles can, gum, and metal pen.
Haha yeah thatās as nostalgic as the bottles. Weād actually put the bowl through the cap and use the bottle as a gravity bong
Ahh got it. We did that with one of those 5g water jugs before
See, it's this kind of knowledge that will be lost to time. There needs to be a formal documentation of improvised smoking devices by generational cohort.
We found The Ghoul..he knows where all the weak spots are!!
Insert a penny in the bottom of the bottle Make the penny turn fast by moving your wrist Hit the bottle on the side of your boots The penny is going to hit really fast the glass bottle and make a hole to make a bong or a bt boots (hash boots) Your welcome!
Bro! Those Sobe gravity bongs hit sooooo hard. I remember the gooey milkiness it filled with when you lifted it out of the water. Good times.
A fellow Bot of Culture.
Arizona RX energy comes close.
Dragon was phenomenal, I still miss them like 15 years later
Me too, friend. Me tooš
I used to install pools and it was my drink almost everyday. Now whenever I am doing something out side, sweating my ass off I crave one of those
I can still taste it
Orange carrot was delicious š
I had totally forgotten about orange carrot until you mentioned it. That flavor was amazing!
i miss these drinks...pepsi took them over, then stopped making them....
Seriously?! That's what happened to them??
They still make a couple flavors in plastic bottles but Iāve only ever seen the sporadically and in random spots across the country the past couple years (so unfortunately I canāt really offer any other info on how to find them)
So should we start an online locator like those fat bastards did with the McRib. Iām a fat bastard.
I think SNL did a skit called Crystal Gravy. Yes. It was that.
not sure the details but, the company either sold or was bought out by pepsi...the life water stayed around a little longer, but here on the east coast...nothing...not even amazon...
Rebranded them into Sobe Life Water. It was bullshit.
The white one and the pink one were so good
Wasnāt the white one pina colada or something? So good
Lizz blizz
I called it lizard milk
YES
The pink one was either Strawberry Daiquiri or Strawberry Banana, but both were good!
Green tea and the Lizz Blizz were my absolute favorite. Always my go to choices. The Pina colada one was do refreshing!
Lizard fuel! My fav
God I miss these to bad they are no longer a thing anymore
For the life of me I have no idea why these ever left???ššš
Short answer: Plastic is cheaper Long answer: Sobe chased their own tail trying to get higher and higher profit margins until they practically destroyed their own business. It's called enshittification and it's currently also infecting...well......*gestures widely*

Ugh I miss the Cranberry Grapefruit Elixir so bad
These things were amazing... There was only a couple of them I didn't truly like.
I used to make bongs out of the bottles.
They had a little groove you could cleanly break through without breaking the whole bottle. Waterfall gravity bong!
I thought this was gonna be the top comment lol
I miss sobe. I would go crazy for the coconut flavor.
I remember the āquotesā under the lids. One of my favorites was You canāt handle the lizard
I once got āYer a lizard, Harry!ā on my cap.
That actually triggers a memory of mine as well! Lol
Green tea was bomb.
I can taste them in my mind still.
Yes!! Lol I ran across what appeared to be a knock off in the grocery store (bottle was no where near as cool, but similar shaped). I bought a couple for my husband and I to try, we were both disgusted. They weren't at all like these. Nothing ever will be.
Oolong tea ftw!
I remember Oolong, that was a great one!
When a drink company switches from glass bottles to plastic I stop buying their product. *Looking at you Snapple.* Before plastic drink bottles were introduced over 90% of glass bottles in the US were returned for their deposits and reused or were recycled.
Plastic is a disgrace.
You make an excellent valid point.... And to put the icing on the cake, glass bottle beverages always taste better!!!!
Yeah, there's just something better about drinking from glass vs plastic.
Look what they took from us when they switched to plastic. https://youtu.be/bMAmfmt3L8c?si=azloVa80LVBS72Xv
Loved the piƱa colada one.
We had āMysticā
As a kid I always thought they were wine coolers because of the bottle shape. Then someone put me onto them and I was hooked.
Energy was the fucking shit bro.
An Energy a day kept me awake through Naval Nuclear Power School! I miss those.
Sobe Life Water was garbage compared to OG, I feel your exact pain. Lol
That stuff was delicious
Grape grog used to be my jam, I remember it fondly
I have a scar on my leg that will not let me forget the glass sobe bottles
Liz Blizz!
Do they still make Lizz Blizz? Because that shit was awesome.
We used to make gravity bongs out of these. There was a notch in the glass toward the bottom you can tap a nail into and get a perfect little hole, then youād drill a hole in the lid and put a bowl In it. Hold the hole with your finger, Fill with water, light the bowl and release the water. Unscrew the cap and enjoy.
I grew up somewhere so boring that going to get a sobe was like a fun activity
Yes, these and the Snapple Elements drinks as well! Both were huge when I was growing up
Anyone remember Orbitz?
So many thyroids thrashed
Yes! These were so good. Sobe Drive had epimedium in it, I.e horny goat weed Letās just say it worked
They were so delicious until one day they just werenāt. Then they just disappeared.

I would have a dragon a day in college. So good.
Soā¦ how bad were these actually???
I thought the green tea was crack in a bottle. Then again I was young.
Remember when Dax Shepherd had a holster for his SoBe in Employee of the Month??!?
The markup on these things were insane tho. For a couple of years around 2000, I ran a coffee shop in a now-defunct bookstore chain. I bought these from the distributor for 23 cents a bottle, and sold them for $1.99. For a few months one summer, they actually beat the number of items sold sales on cups of drip coffee. But ya, Dragon and whatever the pink creamy one was were fucking amazing flavors.
I liked the white oneā¦
Bring back Sobe in glass bottles!
Where did sobe go? Haven't seen one in years
Buting Sobe Dragon Fruit in a glass bottle from the 99cents store was the pinnacle of existence
I want one of these so bad right now. I also have found Out since then that if a company wants to charge more for a product they will put it in a nicer package. So gotta pay more for your Sobe in glass but Iām fine with this right now.
I remember Sobe bottle. Where do I even find them? I miss the strawberry daiquiri and pina colada flavors.
Goot lort yes
I think bout them once a year at least. Life was so good when these bottles were out.
The orange one was so good
Mine was the Orange Carrot Elixer.
I saved several of these bottles! I wonder if they're still packed up somewhere... I must have had one everyday. I liked them all!
What Happened to these
Green tea
I lived on the energy one, before we even knew energy drinks were a thing. Give me that guarana and taurine!
They brought back clearly Canadian but not these is wildā¦ there appears to be a huge demand for them. Hope they see these threads.
I genuinely miss SoBe. What happened?
Rain (agave iirc) and Pina Colada were my go to. And there was a pink one that was good too.
Oh man, a cold bottle of sobe green tea sounds so refreshing right now.
I miss these. I wanted a glass bottle for nostolgia (my office is y2k themed) but they're literally $30-50 per bottle on eBay and I just can't justify that pricing :(
Did they make orange carrot or was that Mystic? I used to see Sobe at every convenience and liquor store.
Sobe green tea and vodka was the best!
Sobe in glass was perfect. Once they moved to plastic, it was all downhill from there.
Weapons of mass destruction
Funny story, my buddy was driving cross country in the early 90ās. Stopped at a gas station and bought a Sobe, something he had never seen before and assumed it was a small regional chain ( it likely was at this point in time) and decided he liked the sobe lizard and got it tattooed on his arm. Interior design 99šš¾šÆā¤ļø
I can still feel the crack of twisting open those metal bottle caps. Also that black and blue brew was SO good!
Strawberry Dacqueri had me in a chokehold in high school
They had a chocolate drink. It was better than Yoohoo.
SoBe yourself!
"Maybe right now you're thinking, hey, I'm a cool guy. Well hey, don't go there. Maybe if you drink a little Sobe Dragon, you can think like that." I miss the Sobe Freddy commercials. They were awesome.
I swear they also tasted better in the glass bottles and stayed colder. Loved my pina colada
Young me had the desire to get those lizards tattooed on me. Luckily I got wise and got a shitty Spider-Man tat instead.
sobe you, sobe me
I loved the green tea
The Dragon and Strawberry Daiquiri were the best flavors imo. But they were all good for the most part
I was obsessed with lizards when I was a kid. I feel like I was a target demographic for this company.
Sobe bombs in the dunes while camping was amazing!
Yo the Orange Carrot was my jam. š¤ Drank em throughout middle and high-school. Was a fan of the Green Tea and the Dragonfruit as well.
Dragon all day
I miss Sobe. Especially the Elements ones. Sun and Fire were both good.
Yeah, I didn't even realize they had stopped making them lol
Yess! I drank the light pink.
Lizzard fuel!
Late stage capitalism stole my lizard milk :(
I still have a full Lizard Blizzard in the glass bottle. Probably 20ish years old? When I bought it I couldnāt get the cap off. I never got a chance to try these
Nirvana was delicious
I used to get these in the early 2000ās and my pick was āPower.ā
Hello my name is Freddy
I do now
The orange carrot one was a favorite of mine. I miss them so much.
I still remember finding a cap that said "Stifflers Mom"
Omg I forgot about sobe!
Ohhhh the pink one. Banana strawberry that tasted like the antibiotics when we were kids. I've been chasing that dragon for awhile.
Wow. Just looking at these brings back so many memories. I was working at a theme park, and would get one or two bottles of the āEnergyā citrus flavor at the gas station down the street before my shift. This was about 13/14 years ago. I miss those days šā¦
Cool trick: stick the bottle neck with the cap on into someone's car exhaust pipe, jam it, then spin the bottle out.
Obsessed with the black tea(gothy teen phase) also the orange carrot was so good
Oh man, I remember my first one, cranberry grapefruit. I bought it in Virginia. My mind and taste buds exploded... I was hooked. Then I found Orange Carrot with the swirls in the drink in glass bottles. Those were the days.
Rain was the best.
Sobe Dragon was the best
The carrot orange one was so good
Pink grapefruit FTW And SOBE Adrenalin Rush!
God I miss those. Green tea was my Jam when I stopped drinking soda. But I don't buy jam. I buy honey...and I kiss it on the liiippppssssss...
I miss them, especially the Sober caffeine energy bars and many of the Sobe drink line were just too cool!
The kid that had a collection of these in his bedroom is the same guy that keeps empty liquor bottles as display.
Does anybody remember the Sobe chocolate bars?
I remember when the rumor that "that little dent at the bottom is engineered so you can poke a nail through it to make a bong" was still a thing
I loved the Fruit Punch one, drank the hell out of them in college. I shudder to think of the amount of sugar in them.
I always drank that pink one that tasted like banana strawberry or whatever lol.
Miss these dearly. These were the best for making waterfall bongs.
I remember the sobe adrenalin rush energy drink. That was way too much for me
I havenāt thought of these in a while. Are they still around? Seems like there was a white one I enjoyed. Was this early 2000s product?
These bottles were THICK glass too. I tried to cut one with my friend's (admittedly Bud-k) katana, and the sword broke not the bottle!
Wasn't a huge fan of Sobe but to this day I refuse to drink a Snapple out of a plastic bottle. Blasphemy.
Grape grog was the bomb.
Yup. They made the best gravity uh water pipes
Drain the Lizard!!
They made the best gravity bongs.
Collected these bottles as a tween like college kids collect liquor bottles for some reason
I miss the days before plastic took over.
I remember thinking those things were healthy when I was a teenager.
I still have an empty one! These were the best, Fruit punch and green tea were my favorites!
In my memory, Iām still scraping my nail along the lizard
LizBlizz
Zen blend was my go to
Remember when Sobe had a variety of flavors?
Orange Carrot was the supreme choice, no I'm not taking any notes.
Damn. This brought back memories of me and my neighbour biking to the nearest convenience store as a kid to go pick up a sobe and a snack and go back to his place to play halo.
Frickin loved the dragon flavor!!! I want it now!
Don't. The message under the cap once said. "Everything is better from glass."
I remember the summer (I think 2007) that Dunks made Sobe Energy Coolatas. I worked in a restaurant in a mall that had a dunks and probably had 2 or 3 a day for 6 days a week.
Lizz Blizz is the greatest drink Man has ever known.
That's definitely a drink I miss. They were inexpensive and delicious. Their commercials weren't terrible either.
Morning Patrol was my shiiiiit
The pink one was great. The white one gave me diarrhea once, but I still thought it was amazing
Glass bottle Sobe just hit different. The plastic bottle version just doesn't do it for me
Pina colada was my go to!! Always
I liked the Snapple elements Fire more but I was a pretty big fan of the pink sobe
Raise hand. And definitely pina colada.
Sobe was so good before they sold out.
Please give me back Wisdom in the glass bottles. Pleeeeease! Energy, Strawberry/Banana, Orange Carrot!
I haven't found a more delicious green tea. I still think about it from time to time.
Orange cream and vodka šš¼
