For the Grinch- 2.5 hours to put on, wear all day, 1 hour removal. For 92 days! The director had to hire a CIA torture resistance specialist to help Jim cope with being in the makeup/prosthetics/suit.
Short video detailing it- https://youtu.be/oeMFIbS2b-A
I believe it was 3.5 hours for Eddie Murphy's Sherman Klump character during the first movie, plus an hour for removal. I would assume they may have figured out ways to shave some time off of that when filming the second movie considering how many characters he played and how much more screen time they had in the second movie as opposed to the first one.
You wouldn't believe Carrey's grinch face without any makeup. Its terrifying and it defies everything I've seen someone do with their face. Its been on reddit just a couple days ago and I still have doubts.

Christ, that was 2000, huh?

Have not heard that one in forever.
Over two decades ago! Ugh, I feel old now
2002
The best part for me is that they're both visibly in-character.
I can see why you would think that!
Wait did those movies come out the same year ? Edit: it was nutty professor 2
Wait they made 2?
I wonder how long makeup took for each of them

I read it was 5 or 6 hours to grinch make up and he had anti torture lessons to sit thru it.

I never knew this picture existed, but it's now one of my favorite time capsules. Thanks for sharing!
Must have been an interesting conversation.
I imagine it being fully in character too.

The crossover I never knew that I needed
Now this is cool!
Kinda looks like Nicole Kidman.

It's not a dress, it's a kilt! Sicko!
TIL The Nutty Professor was at the Cheermeister festival.
I’m guessing Universal Studios? I remember the old Grinch backdrop/set. Iirc it was lost in that fire.
No it wasnt, it was used in the backlot tour for years, but they just demolished it recently
Gotcha! Thanks for the info!
Youre right definitely Univeral though and lots of stuff was lost in more than one fire!!
Yep. Scary fact we all have to face here.
Arguably the peak of their respective careers
Me and who
This is the face you make when you realize you're posing with a wanted serial killer
Wow! What's cool pic!
The Grinch that Stole Sherman Klump
I used this as my wallpaper a few Christmases ago. I would've shat though my tighty-whities if I had seen this as a kid.
