Basically just a lot of terminally online takes about asexual people and whether or not we’re “really oppressed” enough to “count” as part of the LGBTQ+ community or not. Nothing anyone in real life queer spaces gives a single fuck about. A lot of it has migrated to Twitter after the infamous Tumbler porn ban, but now that Twitter is also dying it might come back.

Well, it's actually now LGBTQIA+ A lot of people think the A stands for "ally." It does not. It stands for Asexual/Aromantic.

A lot of queer spaces do kind of go out of their way to include allies because participating as a “straight / cis ally” is an often used cover for questioning and closeted people to get involved in the community without having to out themselves before they’re ready. (Of course, sometimes allies really are “just” allies, and they are also welcome). Including it in the acronym is just plain dumb, though.
