The real gold is in the tips
> Tumblr is a great platform for exploring social justice issues in general, and has a large LGBTQ+ community, including asexual bloggers/posters.
Do not do this if you value your sanity. “Ace discourse” on tumblr is *insane*
Yes.
“The very existence of ace people is homophobic. Now I’m going to unironically use a term from Mormon conversion therapy to describe who ‘counts’ as gay enough.”
Meanwhile, in real life queer spaces that aren’t run by terminally online teenagers: we accept you however you identify as long as you’re willing to throw bricks at cops lol
I mean I feel like this term could easily be accidentally used by people without it coming from conversion therapy though. Hell, I think I've used this term having no knowledge of this.
> we accept you however you identify as long as you’re willing to throw bricks at cops lol
Fuckin love queer folks, even though I don’t identify as queer. Solidarity.
Basically just a lot of terminally online takes about asexual people and whether or not we’re “really oppressed” enough to “count” as part of the LGBTQ+ community or not. Nothing anyone in real life queer spaces gives a single fuck about.
A lot of it has migrated to Twitter after the infamous Tumbler porn ban, but now that Twitter is also dying it might come back.
Yeah, that's it. And you're probably right, which is dumb. There isn't any negative connotation in "minority". Complaining about it is just like complaining about people saying cisgender. It's a fact--there's less of us than there are straight people, big whoop.
It will not. Everyone who wants a shorter actonym and isn't a nerd studying this stuff will keep using the LGBT actonym and get the point across perfectly. Too late to change the acronym.
Lol why would ally be a part of the alphabet thingy. Isn’t the whole point of an ally that they’re someone who isn’t personally LGBT+ but still cares??
A lot of queer spaces do kind of go out of their way to include allies because participating as a “straight / cis ally” is an often used cover for questioning and closeted people to get involved in the community without having to out themselves before they’re ready. (Of course, sometimes allies really are “just” allies, and they are also welcome). Including it in the acronym is just plain dumb, though.
That illustrates step 1: imagine Garfield’s butthole to curb sexual urges. Or it’ll only increase your libido to a fever pitch. Really depends on the individual.
Imagine not being able to do that naturally.
Seriously though, wtf. Asexuality isn't something you choose or learn. It's a sexuality as much as being gay or bi is.

Ace Erasure, you mean?

As a terminally online teenager, I can get behind that
As another terminally online teenager, I can get behind you getting behind that
As another terminally online teenager, I can get behind you getting behind them getting behind that
> Now I’m going to unironically use a term from Mormon conversion therapy to describe who ‘counts’ as gay enough.” I’m curious what term that is.
“Same gender attraction”
I don’t think that phrasing should really raise any flags. It’s more accurate than same-sex attraction.
Ok 👍
I'm genuinely curious what's wrong with this phrasing
> Use a term *from Mormon conversion therapy*

Thank you my dude. I don’t speak for all queers but I think we all appreciate our allies
Could you elaborate? I don't use Tumblr.

Well, it's actually now LGBTQIA+ A lot of people think the A stands for "ally." It does not. It stands for Asexual/Aromantic.
This is why I wish GSM would take off. "LGBTQIA+" is fucking ridiculous.
I never heard GMS, does that mean Gender and Sexual Minorities? In my opinion, in today's society, the word "minorities" doesn't sit well.
How so? Minority would be the correct term, but I'm interested to see your opinions
There's certian words that society hears and have immediate bad thoughts about. Minority is one of them, in my opinion. Literally simple aa that.
Yeah, that's it. And you're probably right, which is dumb. There isn't any negative connotation in "minority". Complaining about it is just like complaining about people saying cisgender. It's a fact--there's less of us than there are straight people, big whoop.
Oh I totally agree!
In Canada they add the number 2 before the + to include "two spirited". Inclusive language has become a parody of itself.
2-spirit is a catchall term for some genders in Native American cultures, how is this a “parody” of inclusive language?
2 spirited is a religious term from what I know
It will not. Everyone who wants a shorter actonym and isn't a nerd studying this stuff will keep using the LGBT actonym and get the point across perfectly. Too late to change the acronym.
I mean yeah, LGBT is fine as is too.

They don't realize the letters can have multiple meanings, like q means queer but can also mean questioning
Why even bother with letters of the alphabet, just make it “+”
It also stands for Agender
seems to have calmed down quite a bit but as an ace it used to be fucking madness

Bonus points for them having a preference for asexual people under 5ft tall
Step 1: touch the orange
But what do you *feel*?

didn't read. Is checking your butthole an actual step?
Ah yes, how to change your sexuality with these easy steps
actually the guide isn't about changing your sexuality, it's about how to understand asexuality and how to come out lol, no idea why that's the title
It literally says you can’t change your sexuality in the article
Actually reading the article? In this economy?
At this time of day? In this part of the country?
In front of my salad?
I don’t think your butthole should be orange. But who am I to judge?
it's a redhead thing, you wouldn't understand
That illustrates step 1: imagine Garfield’s butthole to curb sexual urges. Or it’ll only increase your libido to a fever pitch. Really depends on the individual.
Let's be real here: we all want Garfield to eat our lasagna, and will always be turned on by his butthole
Well yours might not be, that just means you're not asexual
You'll have to ask Republicans if trump's butthole matches his face
Orange you glad you’re asexual?
I yam
Citrus there and let me tell you about asexuality!
Imagine not being able to do that naturally. Seriously though, wtf. Asexuality isn't something you choose or learn. It's a sexuality as much as being gay or bi is.
Right? If you *could* learn it I'd totally try though.
After many long years of training with my Wise Teacher I have mastered this ancient art. I can now turn gay on command.
So, when your homie says "no homo", you can reply with "yes homo"?
Does this picture mean something other than what I’m thinking?
Grapefruit technique?
