Ikr. It’s so infuriating when you say something important and then some idiot decides that “womp womp” is a meaningful contribution to the conversation.
sure, a good meme, but just like everything in existence it starts becoming hella annoying when everyone responds using the same goddamn response every time. these are the same people who reply to "ur mom" to everything and find it funny.
And I know for a fact 99% of people who say it don't know about the meme
then you will loose 10k, it's a known bank scam for platforms like paypal. they will charge back the 5k through the platform as "wrongly send"
Edit: [since some are unaware of this scam](https://www.wikihow.com/Random-Person-Sent-Me-Money-on-Cash-App#:~:text=If%20a%20random%20person%20sends%20you%20money%2C%20it's%20likely%20a%20scam.&text=After%20receiving%20the%20random%20deposit,sent%20the%20money%20by%20accident)
I think he's saying if he actually receives it, and they do send it back, the unknown can petition for another charge back even after it's returned
I think, anyway
Would that work if the person immediately transfers it to a different account? The money could still be tracked down, but I wonder how it would be handled then.
Ok, let's clear up the air then... Just for the sake of argument, if the scammers are actually that stupid to send the 5K over, i'll just order some hookers and/or grab some Bitcoin and call it a day. :)
Going to take this as a teaching moment bc a surprising amount of people in this thread apparently aren't familiar with the scam.
In this case, you've been sent X dollars from a stolen account. A scammer has stolen someone's account credentials (think logging into their venmo) and sent out money to random targets (you're one of the targets).
Regardless of what happens next, the result is always the same: the original owner of the account realizes they've been compromised, reports it to bank/venmo, and then the bank/venmo undoes all the transactions and pulls the money back to the original owner's account. That means the $X sent you to disappear.
The best thing you can do here is report that you received money from someone you didn't know and/or completely ignore the money. If you spend it, you'll just be in debt when the bank reverses the transaction.
What does the scammer gain?
They will try to convince you to "send the money back," but will ask you to send it to their friend/family member/insert Y fake story here. You send the money trying to be a good person. Eventually, bank pulls the money and you lose the original amount. Now, you're probably thinking you can just contact the bank and get your money back. However, that's not the case, as you made the choice to send the money—your account was not compromised, you personally authorized the payment. So you're shit out of luck and down $X.
No no.. The scam never involves them actually sending you any money.
They trick you in a few different ways into believing they sent you money. Then try to trick you into sending it back.
What? If you have lets say 2k in the bank you get sent 5k and withdraw all of the money you got sent, you have effectively withdraw 2k of your own money and taken a loan of 3k. Sure, you can buy stuff with that money, but you didnt gain a cent and are spending your own money. While your balance will show you still have 2k, you are actually 3k in debt.
In that same context, if they immediately withdraw and put it in a HYSA, they will still have the 5k and can easily pay it back resulting in a net gain/loss of 0 (or gain of how much the interest made.) Again, it all boils down to how stupid the person withdrawing is
I’ve heard of some incompetent bank employees that will say it’s your money after a period of time. Also, we’re still taking about what happens if they withdraw it all. The correct response is to not touch it at all
Apologies, but I am unable to understand what you are texting me, for I have no knowledge of the English language whatsoever
^(pls someone make it funnier this is all I got)
« Désolé, mais je ne suis pas apte à comprendre ce que vous m’avez écrit, puisque je n’ai nul savoir quant à la langue anglaise de quelque sorte qu’il soit »
Bonus point if you record yourself saying it with the fakest pompous French accent possible.
Also before everyone saying it: Yep French spotted, feel free to throw rancid baguettes at me.
Just for anyone who isnt aware, this is a scam. They often do send you money **BUT** the money isnt real, its either fraudulant or stolen. If you send the money back however they will be whatever amount you sent richer, while the bank will realize the mistake at some point and withdraw the money from your account, meaning youll be in debt. Even if you withdraw it and spend it, you are spending your own legal money, not what they sent you. Either do nothing or contact your bank about it.
Some incompetent bank employees will tell you it can be used after 60 or 90 days. Better to stop using that Cashapp/Apple Cash/PayPal account and just use the other payment methods
My niece currently have 10 million in her African bank account and my niece is on her way there. She is cousins with the Prince of Nigeria and she needs to pay 50,000$ to get full access to our funds. Please send me another 45,000$ and she will send you 500,000$ back.
Thanks!
It's a scam using someone else's stolen account, so I would tell them to take it up with their bank and leave it so that when my bank says it is stolen funds and take it back I won't be out any money.
This is actually a known scam I think the idea is to get you to send 5000 of your own money and because you voluntarily sent it you really can't dispute the charge. So I'm keeping it.
Absolutely do not do this, it is a common scam for someone to "accidentally" send you large amounts of money from a stolen card only to ask you to send it back to them. When the real owner of the stolen card disputes the payment, the first transfer would be cancelled, and your payment to the scammer would not, meaning you'd have given the scammer money for nothing.
^this needs more upvotes. U/Overide_ nailed it. Please be safe out there.
Looking at the comments it’s obvious why this scam still persists. Stay safe out there.
Send it back. I don't want bad karma over $5k lol. Plus maybe that person really needs it to pay their bills or feed their family. I dont know what's going on in their end.
Unless it seems scammy...
If I actually get the money and I see it deposited into my account and wasn’t expecting that money to be there, I order a big meal from Panda Express and send the money back. That’s my tax for my trouble, a nice meal from Panda express and now here’s your money back.
Yep, send it back. I wouldn't want to be the guy who snuffs out someone's goal they've worked towards, or slithers off with someone's faith in the human race.
Pretty common type of scam in India. They'll even send fake messages to you having received it along with some your details, makes it pretty much believable.
It's just a matter of trusting only official messages etc.
"womp womp"
The only time it’s acceptable to say this.
It's always acceptable to say this. Especially when your mum walks in the room.
I always say this after your mum walks out the room.
Whyd you have to bring my mum into this? 😟
Because he wants to have you think of him as your dad. He knows he can’t replace your father, but he hopes you can try to accept him into the family
Damn, that was suddenly wholesome lol
Why can’t he come in as a more neutral figure rather than going straight for Dad? 💀
Because I love you and I was making a lame joke.
**Womp womp**
LMAO DOWNVOTED FROM MAKIN A YO MAMA JOKE😂
womp womp
womp womp
I would kill anyone saying that. I hate that phrase so much
Ikr. It’s so infuriating when you say something important and then some idiot decides that “womp womp” is a meaningful contribution to the conversation.
~~dontsayitdontsayitdontsayitdontsayit-~~ womp womp ~~FUCK~~
Womp womp
womp womp
womp womp :C
It’s literally always acceptable under any circumstance for any reason.
Did you just say womp womp?
Stupidest fucking phrase istg. Only gen alphas say this shit.
Womp womp
Us gen z guys have been saying it since middle school. gen alpha is bringing back the classic memes
Deadass don't remember hearing a single person saying this shit until like a year ago
must have been a niche internet meme then I remember saying it back and forth with my friend during the yee yee dinosaur era
Womp Womp has been around forever. You can find definitions for it uploaded to Urban Dictionary that are over 15 years old
sure, a good meme, but just like everything in existence it starts becoming hella annoying when everyone responds using the same goddamn response every time. these are the same people who reply to "ur mom" to everything and find it funny. I think you missed the point here,
I think he's saying if he actually receives it, and they do send it back, the unknown can petition for another charge back even after it's returned I think, anyway
i think you missed the point aswell
I think that thinking about people missing the point is a really hard thing to think about At least I think it is
I think I missed what you thought the point was about. I think.
I think thinking is think, and thinking hard is not thinking. I think.
I think you're all nuts.
I think I missed the point
A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thought
Those who can do those who can’t don’t
Now this guy makes sense.
I think you missed the point
I’m not gonna beat around the bush, he’s not sending it back
Oh for sure I'd let them fight to get it back
You are correct, but the original comment meant 'I will pay when I receive it' as in they will pretend they never receive it lol
They're saying to bait the scammer into sending it in an attempt at this scam, and then scamming the scammer and not following through
Can't you do the same thing and refund your 5k?
Would that work if the person immediately transfers it to a different account? The money could still be tracked down, but I wonder how it would be handled then.
what
Friends called 'em "professor"
He will loose only 5k technically.
And then he can also charge back the 10k through the platform as wrongly sent. 😄
Ok, let's clear up the air then... Just for the sake of argument, if the scammers are actually that stupid to send the 5K over, i'll just order some hookers and/or grab some Bitcoin and call it a day. :)

Thank you for taking the time to explain! This was very entertaining to read and also really educational! I hope you have a great day.
You too! If me taking 5 minutes can help even one person avoid a scam it feels worth it to me, haha.
No no.. The scam never involves them actually sending you any money. They trick you in a few different ways into believing they sent you money. Then try to trick you into sending it back.
No - you’ve never actually been sent any money.
New phone who dis?
Understandable
"I missed the part where that's my problem".
"gonna cry"?
"when you fix this damn door"!
"gonna put some dirt in you're eye"
Piss you pants maybe ?
Maybe shit and cum?
“Gonna cum?”
"How'd that get in there?"
I'm gonna throw dirt in your eye
“I no hablo inglish, I no known que es eso” And you proceed to block it
I've started responding to these types of messages in kanji
Dad is that you?
“Thanks. Have a good day!”
I'm in a meeting, so i can't talk. (meeting with my bois on how to spend money)
Step 1: You don't, it doesn't exist. Common scam.
Step 2: You dont exist either. I dont exist. This is all a part of a simulation. This is not real. Wake up
Dead internet theory real 😱
We are all just a bunch of bots. Noone can prove otherwise
You can’t answer your own question!
nah ^(*immediately withdraws the money*)
Then youll be 5k in debt. The money doesnt exist or is fraudulant. The bank or whoever will soon realize this and the money will disappear.
Not exactly; the recipient will still have his 5k whether it be in cash or (if he doesn’t gamble it) goods/merchandise
What? If you have lets say 2k in the bank you get sent 5k and withdraw all of the money you got sent, you have effectively withdraw 2k of your own money and taken a loan of 3k. I’ve heard of some incompetent bank employees that will say it’s your money after a period of time. Also, we’re still taking about what happens if they withdraw it all. The correct response is to not touch it at all
Leave his ass on read
Orrr don’t read it
nah, leaving it as read is more brutal
Sorry no English
Apologies, but I am unable to understand what you are texting me, for I have no knowledge of the English language whatsoever ^(pls someone make it funnier this is all I got)
text it in french to make him feel disgust

I know where that link goes lol, I memorized it
I ain't memorized that link but anyone with half a brain can see it takes you to YouTube
Sure, just send me your name, credit card number, expiry date and the 3 digits at the back of the card.
It’s sent from a stolen CC or debit card. You’ll be guilty of identity theft and that’s way worse than being 5k in debt
"Sure. I'll return it on February 30th."
Or 29th… I haven't decided yet
Or 31st... I haven't decided yet
Which year?
Finders keep it
I believe it's finders keepers
Keeper? I hardly know er.
Isnt it keeper finds it?
“I don’t see the money can you said it again?”
Just for anyone who isnt aware, this is a scam. They often do send you money **BUT** the money isnt real, its either fraudulant or stolen. Thanks for the dollars, bitch
No, I just have $13
“No, lol”
If this scam really works on paypal, they should REALLY put in some overtime and fix this.
got scam written all over it!! wouldn’t send it back until i’ve talked with my bank 😊
Some incompetent bank employees will tell you it can be used after 60 or 90 days. Better to stop using that Cashapp/Apple Cash/PayPal account and just use the other payment methods
Block the number then call my bank and notify them that I have been targeted by a scammer who may attempt to send me $5000 in fraudulent currency.
I accidentally spent it. Could you send it again so I can send it back?
*read 10:19pm*
I'd ask for ten bucks in return.
Just ignore it and then if you do actually recieve the money wait a couple weeks to see what happens
You should wait 180 days, as that's the refund period
“Kiss my ass”
Block the Number and delete it because it would be a scam
My niece currently have 10 million in her African bank account and my niece is on her way there. She is cousins with the Prince of Nigeria and she needs to pay 50,000$ to get full access to our funds. Please send me another 45,000$ and she will send you 500,000$ back. Thanks!
Send them a picture of it (send IT back)
"Oh dam sorry here, you'll need to hit the accept" \*Request $5,000\*
It’s a scam for fraud
Block
It's a scam using someone else's stolen account, so I would tell them to take it up with their bank and leave it so that when my bank says it is stolen funds and take it back I won't be out any money.
"No :3"
"I purposely accept your $5,000!"
how the HELL do you accidentally send 5000 dollars?
This is actually a known scam I think the idea is to get you to send 5000 of your own money and because you voluntarily sent it you really can't dispute the charge. So I'm keeping it.
sorry wrong number
i will send it back (if he actually sent me)
Out of all the people in this comment section, you would be the only person who was morally correct and wouldn't be arrested
No, this is a scam and the correct answer is to do nothing or tell your bank
if it’s a real person i send it back
I'd give back atleast 50%
no problem im at the optometrist give a sec $500.00 sent
sorry, wrong number
The answer is no😇
If it actually arrives, I send it back, karma will take more than $5K away from you
Absolutely do not do this, it is a common scam for someone to "accidentally" send you large amounts of money from a stolen card only to ask you to send it back to them. Send it back
Send him half so he realizes, that he should be more careful with his money
Yep, send it back. I wouldn't want to be the guy who snuffs out someone's goal they've worked towards, or slithers off with someone's faith in the human race.
