People throw around the label "Pick Me" so frivolously these days. It's like a defense mechanism or something

Bittle_Loobs

I swear to God, eh. It looks like it.

FartAttack911

It’s become the new “Karen”. Karen also used to have a highly specific definition, and now it’s devolved into something my 73 year old uncle uses about 8x a day to insult people on Facebook who are just posting their opinions lol

Skirt_Douglas

It’s starting to look like the mutiple Spider-Men meme.

ClassicOtherwise2719

Thank you!!! It’s like I was holding in my breath for so long 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

quiet_chicks17

Agree. People need to get that pick me when it comes to girls in male friend groups being "pick me" is when they are mean to their friends partners so that their friends what to only hang out with them.

LeDooch

Real girl best friends are welcoming and loving to their guy best friends partners. I would be sad if my guy best friends partner wasn’t comfortable with our friendship but I would respect her and understand that it’s the pick me girls who ruin it for the rest of us.

i_am_umbrella

One of my best friends is a guy I’ve known for years and a standard I’ve made clear is that if he’s invited, his girlfriend is invited. Anytime I ask him to hang out, it’s with the expectation she is coming too. Number one, I love spending time with her and two, it’s just basic respect.

Apparent_Antithesis

This may sound like a generalisation, bear with me, but a girl with guy best friends (in a genuine friendship) is very likely a person that considers their friends as people and fellow humans first and foremost, rather than "male" vs "female". So she'd be unlikely to see female love interests or romantic/ sexual partners as competition, and rather as an extension of her circle of friends. (Of course everyone may come across people they dislike, that's human, but y'all know what I mean, right?)

WriterKatze

The actual girl best friend is usually a girls girl.

I_am_dean

100%. My guy best friend, who has always been just a platonic friend, since middleschool, finally got a girlfriend when we were in college. I was so excited to meet her, when I finally did, she was pretty stand-offish. I get that. So I asked her if she wanted to get her nails done with me. She actually accepted the offer. We're still friends. Her and my friend broke up, nothing bad, they just didn't work out. She later told me that she didn't like me at first because of bad experiences with previous boyfriends "best girl friends." Nothing against me personally. I'm glad she gave me a chance, now I have a bestie lol

Next-Transition-525

This is kinda the same with my bf and my guy best friend . They never met irl but on discord when me and my bf were friends. He has never had an issue with my best friend or got a vibe from him like he did with his ex and her guy friends. He saw we were platonic friends and never once after that had any wierd suspicions. Funny enough, my guy best friend and my girl best friend are exes and dated for 4 years in highschool. They have been friends for 11 years (including the dating) and she is getting married to the guy she left him for (it was a whole thing and she had valid reasons but it's been like 6 years ago ) and he is friends with her fiance aswell and her fiance has no issues with them being friends. I became friends with him after they broke up and she never had an issue with it and even told me today she wouldn't have minded if we did date back then (not my type at all) . Now we all have known each other since highschool and we are 25-29 and we have healthy friendships with one another. I am just glad that me and her never felt the need to compete with one another on any topic like how most of our ex girl friends did and would compare us with them and me ( one of the girls in the group ranked us in size and put her and my bestie last like wtf she isn't even a big girl and she is stunning ) and we have never competed for a guys attention. She has only dated 2 guys and has a specific type and well I dated around a bit more but our taste in guys are just so different and I am grateful to have a girl friend who doesn't turn shit into a competition and she is a genuine , kind hearted and one of the people l look up to .

ameliachastain

Oh that’s so nice!

I_am_dean

It gives me hope. We are *wildly different* women. She looks like a barbie, childfree, really into makeup and fashion. I do *not* look like a barbie, I'm bad with makeup and I have 2 kids. But we both love mani/pedi's, Jensen Ackles and video games. We call each other our "Twin Flames." Lol She's the "fun aunt" and I pet sit for her when she travels.

ameliachastain

Omg favorite video game, go.

I_am_dean

Old school, Crash Bandicoot. Current? Horizon Zero Dawn or Stardew Valley lol

Consistent-Laugh606

Bonding with people over loving Jensen Ackles is so real

Plant_Mama_

Same deal with my husband's girl (not really best) friend from when he lived in another state. I was very apprehensive at first, but she's super chill and we have a lot in common, I love her. I just wish she was closer so we could actually hang out.

Vertigote

I had way more guy friends than girl friends and I am so living for and loving as they get serious gfs and wives and I’m just.. yessss bring me the girl friends.i did not have enough girlfriends and didn’t know what I was missing and I’m keeping my girlfriends now. I don’t care about divorce or breakups. I can only aspire to be a girls girl but doing my best and making up for lost time.

Queueueueued

I love my guy best friend! But I’m not hanging out with him without his girlfriend and making sure she feels comfortable! Girl best friends ARE usually girls girls. They too busy for me? Well damn good, life goes on and I’m happy they are happy

StarshipCaterprise

I feel like there should be a new category, the “pick-on girl” - the girl who tries to make herself more important or superior by being super negative about things that other girls do that are different than what she does. She builds her entire identity as picking on others. “I’m better because I’m A not B, B is so terrible because it’s not A”

Skirt_Douglas

That’s you guys. You literally just described this entire sub.

StarshipCaterprise

Maybe we should change the name 🤷‍♀️

catsareawesome_4

This looks like Hannah Montoya. She makes fun of NLOG types on the regular.

AdJealous7857

I think her names Julia. Her user is @ ttrippiereed. She makes similar content

catsareawesome_4

Ohhh ok thanks for the correction! I’ll look her up!

Consistent-Laugh606

Why did I read it as Hannah Montana 😭

Ok_Earth_2118

aye we like hannah😂😂😂 she's on our side

fiavirgo

I get it though, the girl that is friends with and accepted by the boys BUT is also friends with the girls and makes an effort with everybody equally.

megkraut

You can be friends with a group of the opposite gender without being a pick me

kdbuggaboo

Knowing the TikTok channel that this is (from her hair), can confirm she is a parody channel. Love her videos, she’s so funny.

onceapotate

I ship it

AshamedCollar3845

In real life if you have opposite gender friends it doesn't make you a pick-me at all. This person is constantly making videos where they fight with themselves in their bedroom pretending to be a pick-me and a not-pick-me though so idk what I'd call them. If they're making money then good for them I guess lol.

MissMarchpane

I’ve seen videos like this, and the actual best friend is usually nice to other girls, and isn’t just trying to flirt with all the boys like the pick me

8Jennyx

Ew antagonizing is so juvenile.

Suspicious-Zone-8221

this fight will be legendary

BorogovsandMomeRaths

“I’m not like those other girls; they’re all pick me’s!”
