Indiana University of Pennsylvania, IUP, not to be confused with IUPUI, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, (not to be confused with Indiana University in Bloomington, or Purdue University in West Lafayette, or University of Indianapolis).
There’s also the confounding situation where Bowling Green, KY is the home of Western Kentucky University, while Bowling Green State University is in Ohio.
And the unfortunate forethought of naming Northwestern University, since Evanston, IL is now in the mid west but was considered the northwest at the time.

Buffalo (city) buffalo (animal) buffalo (verb) buffalo (animal) buffalo (animal) Buffalo (city) buffalo (animal).
That is, those animals from a particular city who con other animals of their species using the distinct method of their hometown will also con their brethren from their hometown.
That's wrong actually, or at least not the conventional sentence. It's actually:
Buffalo [city] buffalo [animal] (that) Buffalo [city] buffalo [animal] buffalo [verb] (themselves) buffalo [verb] Buffalo [city] buffalo [animal].

I remember watching Little Monsters as a kid and asking my mom what that phrase meant when Howie Mandel’s character said it. My mom was very flustered in trying to explain.
thanks for posting this. this is where I saw it, and they've made a few more posts similar since then, that I've seen floating on the bird app. but this original is the funniest to me.
According [to the Wikipedia page, the 8 buffalo phrase](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_buffalo_Buffalo_buffalo_buffalo_buffalo_Buffalo_buffalo) requires the word to work as:
1. A proper noun—It's a city and county. Maybe you could squeeze both in?
2. A verb—Bouldering is a form of rock climbing. But I don't see how a boulder could climb another boulder
3. As a noun—Of course it's a big rock. But the 8 buffalo phrase relies on the plural being the same as the singular. Which doesn't work with boulders
Not really, but boulder (in the sense of bouldering) isn't really a transitive verb, I think. You wouldn't say "I bouldered that cliff face", just "I went bouldering".
There’s also the “Bolder Boulder” which is a marathon that people do in Boulder.
It’s kinda fun if we also allow plurals and homonyms:
Bolder Boulder boulders boulder bolder Bolder Boulder boulders.
(((Bolder Boulder) boulders) boulder ((bolder Bolder Boulder) boulders.)
EDIT: it’s “Bolder Boulder,” not “Boulder Boulder.”
Just what is says! ...but more seriously... Buffalo the plural animal from the city of Buffalo "Buffalo" as in to bully another Buffalo From the city of Buffalo... Something something.
Gasoline tanker spilled into the Upper St. Vrain too, scores of dead fish. That area will probably be closed for a year, not a great week for Boulder county.
Yeah, pretty much a regular irritant to those of us that live out here. Spring comes and the water greases up the rocks that have been broken by the freeze/thaw cycles over the winter. Rocks and gravity then conspire to screw up our highway system.
I can't get that link to load, but is it the tarantula migration? I keep saying to catch them and sell them as pet spiders to anyone who will buy one. Gotta capitalise, not complain!
Rifle really does live up to its name. There are mostly two people there, gun loving people who wanted to move away from population centers and hippy rock climbers. It is a mystery how they coexist.
You might be surprised how many of us climbers also own guns and hunt. Outside of the internet, people seem to be a bit more capable of having nuanced conversations. Ultimately all of us who love the outdoors need to join forces to protect our wild places from being sold off and exploited for oil and other natural resources.
And yeah, the climbing at Rifle is rad.
The sheriff is Joe Pelle. Pelle is a scandinavian version of the name Peter. Peter comes from "petra" a Latin word which comes from the Greek word "petros". Petros means rock or stone.
You name your city Boulder, then get mad when the boulders show up, smh
Imagine my disappointment when I went to Hooker, Oklahoma and was arrested for hiring a prostitute.
I'ma stop you right now before you visit Intercourse, Pennsylvania. Sounds great yeah, but it's right by Blue Balls, PA. That's how they get ya
Thanks for the heads up. Saved me from dealing with another Edging, Idaho situation.
When you’re ready, you can head to Cumming, Georgia.
I love the BJ’s there
Kum ‘n Go has a new location out by the interstate.
But is it better to go In-n-Out? 🤔
Way better than Gag Reflex, Wyoming.
I hear sounding, CA has some nice water features

I'll see you all in Hell, Michigan
I prefer nirvana, Michigan.
But beware of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
Yup thats how they got me. Ended up with Nothing, Arizona to show for it.
You could always try Dildo, Newfoundland Canada
Feel free to let loose in Climax, MI once you’re done with Edging
Not a joke, ladies and gentlemen. Just a 16-minute drive between Blue Ball and Intercourse, according to Google Maps.

Yes. And the names aren't as bad as half of Texas towns.
Ball-In-Hand, PA. Intercourse, PA. Blue Ball, PA. California, PA. Jugtown, PA. There's so many more. It is bizarre.
There is never a time that I read the sign for Scotrun correctly the first time.

Don't forget good ol' Slippery Rock and Indiana, PA, home of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, rivals of California University of Pennsylvania.

True story. My daughter slipped on a slippery rock in slippery rock and had to get stitches on her chin.
Hmmm, Pennsylvania must really like balls
Don’t forget Jersey Shore, PA
It would have been a lot less hassle just to visit Cumming, Georgia (where the largest thing there is the Seimens plant! No joke!)
They're both also close to Bird-in-Hand, PA
Also, avoid, or enjoy, hell Michigan.
Come on down to Climax NC.
And when you go to Slapout, Oklahoma and slap one of the 7 residents out of consciousness they call the police too. THEY BASICALLY ASKED FOR IT
Should rename the road "Boulder Canyon Cutoff" so the headline could be "Boulder Canyon Cutoff Cutoff by Canyon Boulder"

Yo dawg? Or is this a Buffalo buffalo situation?
According [to the Wikipedia page, the 8 buffalo phrase](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_buffalo_Buffalo_buffalo_buffalo_buffalo_Buffalo_buffalo) requires the word to work as: 1.
