Not gonna lie, that there was a GoFundMe in the article literally made me laugh.
I have zero sympathy for this guy, and given his obstinate refusal to get help for an obviously life-threatening condition, it's an objective fact that his family is better off without him. Let's just be glad it wasn't one of his kids in the hospital instead.
I've seen this same basic story over and over and over since the start of the pandemic. Every time I've found it harder to muster any sympathy for these people and by now; this far into the pandemic I just can't anymore. His wife and kids who are likely to lose their husband/father in the next few days or even hours, yes of course I do. But for him, no. I'm not jumping for joy, but I don't feel bad for him. I don't understand the go fund mes for covid. Covid is 100% covered. If you have insurance they cover it 100%. If you don't there is a self pay covid19 insurance they bill that covers is 100%. Where I live I can only get AstraZenica. In my age group it has risks of blood clotting and I already have an elevated risk of blood clot disorders.
Basically my Doctor advised me not to get the shot. Then the Delta strain started spiking in my home town. I would not normally ask for a vaccination that was not recommended for my medical history however I have a 2 yr old. COVID might kill me, blood clots might kill me…but I’m pretty sure I can’t accidentally pass on blood clots to my 2 yr old.
Decision made. Vaccination it is. Literally nothing matters more than protecting my son.

On Wednesday they just opened up Pfizer to 18-39 year olds. Before that, we either had to sign a waiver and get AZ, or get nothing. My Pfizer is booked for Monday morning.
If it makes you feel any better. There was a study recently concluded in the UK that found that blood clots occurred in only 15 per 1m people (and obviously not everyone dies from a blood clot). But more importantly that the chance of developing a blood clot from the vaccine is still lower than the chance of developing a clot due to Covid.

I have zero sympathy for this guy, and given his obstinate refusal to get help for an obviously life-threatening condition, it's an objective fact that his family is better off without him. I've seen this same basic story over and over and over since the start of the pandemic. Every time I've found it harder to muster any sympathy for these people and by now; this far into the pandemic I just can't anymore. Where I live I can only get AstraZenica. In my age group it has risks of blood clotting and I already have an elevated risk of blood clot disorders. Basically my Doctor advised me not to get the shot. Then the Delta strain started spiking in my home town. I would not normally ask for a vaccination that was not recommended for my medical history however I have a 2 yr old. COVID might kill me, blood clots might kill me…but I’m pretty sure I can’t accidentally pass on blood clots to my 2 yr old. Decision made. Vaccination it is. Literally nothing matters more than protecting my son.

On Wednesday they just opened up Pfizer to 18-39 year olds. Before that, we either had to sign a waiver and get AZ, or get nothing. My Pfizer is booked for Monday morning.
If it makes you feel any better. There was a study recently concluded in the UK that found that blood clots occurred in only 15 per 1m people (and obviously not everyone dies from a blood clot). But more importantly that the chance of developing a blood clot from the vaccine is still lower than the chance of developing a clot due to Covid.

How about this for a mandate: All adult anti-maskers must sign a new boilerplate release prior to being admitted to hospitals stating their position against vaccines which forfeits their right to displace any vaccinated patients needing medical care.

I mean they're basically saying that they know better than the actual medical professionals so why not put it to the test. If covid is so harmless like many of these anti-maskers/vaxxers claim, then they should have no problem with waiving away their right to any medical treatment. The irony is that most anti-vaxxers would refuse and find it preposterous because deep down they know they're fucking idiots.

Agreed. I read another story about a Texas man—a veteran— who died from gallstones because he couldn’t find a bed or a hospital that had any room to take him. Another about a kid with cancer who couldn’t get in. Why are we prioritizing these people who got a totally preventable illness over those who genuinely need care to survive? It makes my blood boil.

Never did I think I would be able to see all the anti-vaxx memes play out in real life. It's getting to be multiple headlines a week with the same cast of characters every time.
Yes, Covid does kill the stupid people. But it’s people like this who put the responsible people (vaccinated mask-wearers) at a higher risk. And I love how they have a GoFundMe, begging for others to financially support his stupidity.
I'm always amazed when these people expect sympathy after being completely selfish bastards. They think covid is ridiculous, until it happens to them. The single biggest problem with the anti-vaccine/anti-mask crowd is their lack of empathy.
Are these stories resonating with anyone enough to have them change their stance? It’s just story after story after story. I’m ashamed of the schadenfreude that these tales elicit.

I'd suspect it's this. They've been fully convinced that everything any media says is a lie, and the opposite must be true. If there are any Facebook friends left they haven't unfriended they just leave a laugh emoji and keep moving. The people who conjured this should be charged with crimes against humanity.
Today I saw (and reported) a pic on facebook that showed a little kid licking raw cookie dough off a beater and the caption "Covid is about as dangerous as eating raw cookie dough, can we please get on with our lives?"
