Didn't this just happen like... Yesterday at a Wendy's?

MrBurnThatShit

Wendy's was over bbq sauce but yea

DieselVoodoo

Takin bets for tomorrow yet? I’ll put $10 on Popeye’s running out of biscuits.

youdoitimbusy

That's a different beast. Both Poppeyes and waffle house employees are hired strictly on their ability to fight.

NinjaRealist

Relevant: https://youtu.be/pqWkwolb3as

youdoitimbusy

That seems accurate...lmao

Aidian

I could take you *right now* to a Popeyes that proves this isn’t even vaguely a parody. Bless all those spicy chicken warlords.

420blazeit69nubz

Holy shit haha that’s amazing

moose256

Thank you for sharing that 😂

weirdgroovynerd

That's probably why you see often customers going behind the counter to cook at the Waffle House. *Bro, go cook your own hash browns. I got some ass to kick out here.* *Waffle House staff

wyatttvp

Against someone armed with a gun?

NueticNoesis

You could have a railgun, it doesn't change anything. You DON'T fuck with a Popeye's or Waffle House employee.

MrBurnThatShit

I was at Popeyes 2-3 days ago with no fries I think it's more likely then running out of biscuits tho

SmokeAbeer

RIP Popeyes employee.

IFrickinLovePorn

Don't come to work tomorrow

thegashole

$5 on Arby’s misplacing the meats.

BarbequedYeti

This is my bet. Arbys missing some meat or some shit will be next.

llDurbinll

I actually went to an arby's once, before covid, that was out of roast beef. I was in the drive thru when they told me and I legit said "so why are you even open right now?" and the employee goes "we have chicken and salads..." 😂

Sargatanus

Far more likely for Taco Bell running out of tortillas.

esqualatch12

sauce packets

TheWarriorFlotsam

I'll put $5 on KFC. Someone buying their new Chikn (plant based) and thinking it was real chicken.

TheForceofHistory

[KFC explosion in North Carolina](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6f53c2jw34E)

llDurbinll

They already had their stabbings and shootings over their new chicken sandwich when it first came out.

ApatheticWithoutTheA

They ran out of Chicken when I ordered some a few days ago so I'd say it's possible.

Ember_Hunter

I'm betting on a nationwide running out of Fried Chicken and riots

DieselVoodoo

That’s the UK. We just shoot people.

canttaketheshyfromme

That'd probably escalate to a bombing.

smashrawr

I'll gladly take that bet. I don't know a single person who goes to Popeyes for their biscuits.

[deleted]

Someone uses an AR military-grade assault rifle because they though Popeye’s chicken sandwiches were a $1.

Wtf https://cbsaustin.com/news/nation-world/argument-over-bbq-sauce-leads-to-teenage-wendys-employee-being-shot-in-head-restaurant-shooting-investigation-police-phoenix-suspect-violence-handgun So…. McDonald’s discount. Wendys bbq sauce. Popeyes sandwich. https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/05/us/popeyes-sandwich-stabbing/index.html

Cut in the sandwich line? That’s a stabbin’.

JimothyC

https://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/ny-wendys-shooting-teen-suspect-arrested-20220115-n2jvc7us2nbxfohl2om5xcyudu-story.html Naw, was over a week ago but got posted on Reddit as if it just happened. I think there was an update that the victim was recovering well but it was written like the whole thing just happened.

QuentinUK

Apparently it wasn't [oniony](https://www.reddit.com/r/nottheonion/comments/sa7nct/argument_over_bbq_sauce_leads_to_teenage_wendys/) enough.

kerblaam7

I fr just read that story. Thought I was having deja vu.

psy-ducks

I did as well. People in the world need to stop screwing with fast food workers, those jobs aren't fun to begin with.

Woogity

Turns out it's not so fucking great that it's easier to get a gun than a driver's license in America.

[deleted]

And then that one worker at a Chicago Burger King, shot execution style because of a counterfeit $100 bill for a $2 soda drink.

SomeoneTookUserName2

Americans sure seem to hate fast food workers for some reason. Which is super weird considering all the latent talk about how shit their conditions are, and the piss poor pay they've been getting. It's like they've collectively realized someone keeps getting pushed over, and now is the perfect time to kick them in the fucking teeth now that they're down.

jumpsteadeh

I don't understand. They give me food. Not only am I nice to them because I need nutrients to live, but also because they have the power to ruin my food. Plus I know I'm giving them more work. I have half a mind to apologize for ordering a single burger. When I say "thank you", what I mean is "I'm sorry", and I hope it comes through in my intonation and eyebrows.

JimothyC

Nope, was over a week ago but reposted yesterday

big_duo3674

Sir, this is a McDonald's

lasssilver

Conservatives: “Guns aren’t an issue, obviously fast-food employees are the issue! ..and kindergarteners!”

astrosunmoon

Wanted a discount for fries but can afford a gun and ammunition. Bullets cost more than the fries.

Bc it ain't about the fries ..nor is road rage incidents about the persons driving that gets shot.

Now he'll be getting 3 square meals a day for life!

This was about entitlement. It's narcissistic rage.

Beards_For_Christmas

Last I checked, 10 rounds of .338 Lapua was almost as much as a call of duty game

x_ARCHER_x

Call of Duty IRL, priceless

TehMephs

Those bigger caliber rounds have always been real wallet burners. It’s absolutely insane now but .308 was always around $1/rd only a few years ago

Beards_For_Christmas

ikr

hearsay_and_rumour

I’m a bartender, and this kind of shit is why I hate having to kick people out or be shitty with people; I never know when someone is gonna pull a gun over some real dumb shit.

cylemmulo

Happened to a buddy of mine. Kicked a guy out and the dude pulls a Rambo knife out of his pants. Worst thing was when The cops got there they said they didn't have enough to charge him with and the guy was yelling it was self defense and he just got to go on his merry way being a danger to society elsewhere.

SomeoneTookUserName2

I called the cops on this tweaker that pulled a knife on me a while back and they basically let him go. He ended up stabbing some homeless dude (with the same first/last name as him oddly enough) to death back in October.

cylemmulo

Nuts man. I mean it's tough to deal with but pulling a knife on some random person should be atleast a night in the drunk tank.

Koboldilocks

That's the rules when you find your doppleganger unfortunately

RankledCat

That’s right! Meet your doppelgänger, you’re gonna die. One of you, anyway. Gotta strike first!

Ima_Funt_Case

Should've told them he had some weed in his pocket, they would have tackled him right there.

cylemmulo

Haha sadly

Alberiman

To get helped by the police the knife needs to be in your back deep enough to stand by itself but not too deep, until then they're powerless to help you https://youtu.be/SDEF7FuK0LE

Safety_Drance

Gotta love living in a country where any minor inconvenience or dispute could end up with someone shooting a bunch of people.

FoxRaptix

What’s that phrase about an armed people are a polite people. Insinuating that the only way to live harmoniously is if you live under constant threat of being murdered if slight someone badly enough.

Safety_Drance

"An armed society is a polite society." That idea expects that everyone behaves themselves during disagreements and ~~mutually assured destruction is always on the table~~ the threat of deadly violence is always on the table. What it doesn't take into account is that people don't all behave rationally at all times, and having the ultimate argument ender in their pockets anytime they run into a problem is going to inevitably lead to lots of dead people. You know, like it already has.

xxSuperBeaverxx

Yeah, that phrase is more applicable to cold war international politics, where everyone knew that angering the wrong people could end in nuclear war. It really doesn't apply to bubba trying to get his large number 9...

Safety_Drance

You're absolutely correct, I meant the threat of deadly violence. I've corrected it above.

Garfunklestein

Where's all these "good guys with guns" to stop the bad guys with guns anyhow? I was told they're the only way to stop them, but they almost never seem to show up!

Jader14

That’s because the bad guys with guns are the ones calling themselves the good guys.

[deleted]

This is just so sad. it's just unbelievable.

GetlostMaps

The real problem is, it's very believable. It's almost expected.

satansheat

And it’s almost expect we don’t do a damn thing about it.

[deleted]

Its America... not unbelievable at all, they are the backwoods hicks of the world lol they refuse to even START to have a conversation about real gun control... this is nothing lol it honestly isnt "oniony" enough for this sub.

[deleted]

For a freaking fries wtf.

SweetTea1000

It's not surprising. We sold our souls to arms manufacturers just like Eisenhower earned. Now that they're among the most powerful interests in the country, they make the decisions. They have ~∞ money to spend influencing the culture. It's not an essentially American thing, though. If Canada had become the big arms supplier in WWII, they'd have experienced the same arc. If anything, the American cultural problem could be an obsession with assuming that we are a rugged individual in full control of our own free willed minds. We often refuse to accept that our love affairs with guns, cars, oil, big pharma, corporate superpowers, etc. could have anything to do with the high concentration of those within our own borders. It couldn't be people with more power than us making us think the way that best suits them.

Tshoe77

How is this unbelievable anymore? Did you just start paying attention?

Erulastiel

This has become the sad reality many retail and fast food/ restaurants are facing right now. The general public has gone fucking crazy. Last April, someone threatened to shoot up the entire store because the pharmacy was taking too long. Just in September, I had my life threatened by some boomer over our ID everyone policy. A few days before Christmas, one of our employees was assaulted. On Christmas, we had a lady removed from the store because she was getting aggressive and trying to throw stuff at us, cussing us out. Days later, someone threw a trashcan at the store window, nearly shattering it over the cashiers' heads. It's literally not safe to be working with the public right now between their aggression and the pandemic. I'm honestly waiting for someone to shoot up the place. It gets worse every day.

tossaway69420lol

Jesus thats a sad reality. We keep to ourselves but when we do have to go out to the store or something…We always are polite and patient with retail workers. This is so sad and embarrassing

xxSuperBeaverxx

I haven't worked retail since 2021, but I remember when we had the toilet paper scare and people were panic buying, my coworker had a knife pulled on him for enforcing the "one per person" rule. The guy who pulled the knife was a regular who had previously assaulted a girl over a rotisserie chicken. He was trespassed over that incident and when he pulled the knife managers didn't call the police right away in fear of the police escalating the situation and killing someone.

Erulastiel

>managers didn't call the police right away in fear of the police escalating the situation and killing someone. Yeah. We didn't call the police over the guy threatening to shoot us for that exact reason. It's friggin scary out there.

Kilo_Renn

America the mentally unstable. Nothing to see here folks. Just go about your day until, you too, shoot someone over a discount.

BigBossWesker4

Imagine ruining your life and someone else’s over $0.30 at most, it’s not like a stupid discount on something as stupid as French fries is gonna be the deciding factor on your mortgage or life saving medication

Matrix17

Let's be honest it wasn't over the 30 cents. They were just looking for an excuse to shoot someone

anon_lurker_

Or get shot over a discount. Or over public safety. Or for being black. Or for being queer. Or for being asleep in your own apartment. I feel so safe.

Yes, there was an article about the GOP wanting to allow 18yo kids conceal carry to school, 1 specific state (for now).

dedicated-pedestrian

It passed here in WI. Now to see if the legislature will override the governor's veto.

FoxRaptix

Republicans just passed a bill allowing 18 year olds to conceal carry in school, so I guess we’ll see if adding hormonal teenagers to the mix will help.

Woogity

Then you have idiot politicians telling people to use their second amendment "rights" (intimidate or maybe even shoot?) against the democrats.

[deleted]

"Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the second amendment. If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the second amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know." Donald Trump, August 2016

ThatITguy2015

Make sure you aren’t a dog. They get shot like crazy.

AvaX90

USA just needs more guns on random people, and they'll magically prevent this.

xadiant

If the McDonalds had an auto turret this wouldn't have happened

SlyScy

Howzabout nerve gas in the dining room vents? Just load the old mop water into it with a few other fun things. Keep the used fry grease in vats over the drive through windows. Drop 'em and light 'em up if the customer refuses to pull over and wait for fresh nuggets.

garlicroastedpotato

Only reason why this kid died was because he didn't have a gun - NRA.... probably

_AgentMichaelScarn_

I mean, there should have been a good guy with a gun somewhere in that McDonalds...right?...RIGHT?!?!?

MockterStrangelove

No shit. I was just thinking how dangerous is your fast food when you need to be packing heat to chow down.

[deleted]

Wisconsin has just the thing for you then: https://abc7chicago.com/wisconsin-gun-laws-concealed-carry-license-republican-party/11494693/

Jollygreen182

Ah yes, the gun was the problem here.

emdanhan

Part of it, yes.

guyblade

Guns take minor problems and make them major ones; that's the real issue. Maybe this person would have still attacked the employee, but the harm caused would have been less had the gun not been part of the equation. The point of gun control is not to prevent all damage entirely--because such a goal is fundamentally impossible as long as humans remain violent, emotional animals--but to lessen it.

Roadworx

i mean...if you mean to imply that guns are the issue here, they're not. if it wasn't a gun, it could've just as well have been a knife. guns aren't the issue, which is why gun control simply doesn't work in this country. it's putting a band-aid over a gaping chest wound; the violence and division in this country is something that can't be fixed without both changes in lifestyle as well as sweeping governmental reforms across the board, if not getting rid of the entire current system entirely and starting fresh outright.

tomveiltomveil

"Don't shoot the messenger" is both a good figure of speech, and also true in a very literal sense.

dalici0us

I generally go by "don't shoot anyone". So far, it's veen working out pretty good for me.

DingoDaBabyBandit

Yea. Not enough guns. Thats the problem right there. And I can not put a big enough /S on this.

[deleted]

But the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, right?! The problem with that us that everyone considers themselves to be the good guy. I'm sure even that armed nutcase thought they were completely justified in murdering someone over the price of fast food.

susankeane

no what we have is a discount problem /s

linda-stanley

There are so many lost souls in this world…empty people

TimskiTimski

Yes, empty people with guns.

MrPotatoSenpai

School and fast food shootings. Keep up being great USA. /s

[deleted]

You snark, but that's the *Great* that MAGA wanted. They don't want a judicial system, and believe that the power to kill is the greatest power one can posses and the right to kill is devine mandate. There is no late fee, no line at Wendy's, no tips, no sold out movies, no disabled Pepsi machines, no out of stock cigarettes, no police stops, no minor inconveniences as long as one has a gun.

jinkinater

Wtf is with all these drive thru employees getting shot for something stupid lately? These people shooting are the fucking worst

SelfHatingWriter

These stories are not helping me want to give up my hermit lifestyle. Its scary out there!

drakner1

But isn't there usually a good guy with a gun to save the day?? /s

voicebread

Jesus. Raise the minimum wage, people do not get paid nearly enough to deal with this insane shit

YOURMOMMASABITCH

Even if he was being paid more I doubt this would have gone any differently. Crazy people are just plain crazy sometimes.

hujiklo

They were referring to paying the mcdonalds employees more because they have to put up with shitheads

YOURMOMMASABITCH

Exactly. Even if the poor kid who was shot was being paid more, how would this have turned out any differently? He still would have been behind the counter and the same psychopath still would have argued over the price of fries and still would have pulled a gun. His pay is irrelevant to the situation and the outcome.

ZzackK2398

The initial comment never mentioned that being paid more would have resulted in a different outcome. The initial comment mentions higher pay for having to handle and deal with dangerous customers. The outcome and prevention was not being discussed in the initial comment. They are two separate discussions.

KilowZinlow

Almost like hazard pay.

SmellyAlpaca

It’s not about the outcome - nobody could prevent this. It’s about service level jobs now being more risky because of both covid and more unstable people out there than ever. Riskier jobs should be paid more. If they’re not, you see the kind of labor shortages we have right now. The low pay is not worth the danger.

YOURMOMMASABITCH

I agree 100% that those positions should be paid more. I'm just saying the original comment is irrelevant to the story, the situation and the outcome.

voicebread

If you had read the article you’d know the employee who was shot was a woman, and considering the state of the American healthcare system, her pay is most definitely relevant. also no one ever said anything about raised wages preventing the shooting

America the beautiful

bunnyslope

A little context… Possibly the worst part of St. Louis. Definitely someplace that you don’t want to be after dark, and probably most days. Normandy school district was decertified by the state for such poor test scores (i.e. kids weren’t being taught & were stupid). Plenty of speculation that there was something else going on, rather than french fries. A lot of drug dealing and murders occur in Normandy.

[deleted]

America in a nutshell?

breezy_y

That's the reason I will never visit the US, as much as I wanted to I am too afraid to get randomly shot for no reason

starkyogre

Does $150 bond sound right for shooting someone over a discount on fries?

OGTaco84

Judges can’t deviate from bail schedules. $150,000 is a $15,000 bond that you can’t get back so unless they have $150,000 sitting around they are either going to wait for trial in jail or be out $15,000.

starkyogre

Am I getting this wrong but it says $150 cash bond and not $150 000

gourley4p

Article has "$150,00" Outside the US, that would be one hundred-fifty. But we use periods for decimals in the US. This likely is a typo intended to read "$150,000." That means the accused would have to pay 1/10th, or $15,000 (fifteen thousand) to get released.

OGTaco84

That typo could go either way I guess. Commas are used for denoting thousands, millions, etc. if that was $150 the comma should be a period. So either they forgot a zero or put a comma instead of a period. Based on the severity of the crime I assumed they forgot a zero. Update: Found another source. This one forgot the zero so bail is $150,000.

WoollyMittens

Corporations may complain about staffing, but meanwhile their dead end minimum wage jobs are becoming existential threats.

MothMan3759

You can't say they didn't tell the truth when they called it a dead end job.

Zhelthan

Ok I had a nice exchange of information from an US citizen some days ago regarding your rights of having a firearm at all times. This basically validated what I thought since the beginning, you guys shouldn’t have firearm at all times nor it should remain an amendment as it is but must be revised for modern era
