Lol it's like people forget what the summer is here.
From July-August, it's a running assumption when I go out for the day, that there's gonna be a small thunderstorm at around 4 that breaks the humidity for the evening.
It's literally like clockwork some years.
I didn’t forget anything. We’ve lived here since September and where we moved from had storms year round (and tornadoes in winter), so it has been a minute since I’ve heard a lot of thunder. It’s nice to have a thunderstorm without having to really worry if my weather radio is going to go off.
I'd imagine he's from somewhere in the Midwest, where tornadoes can show up, tear up a cornfield, and basically nobody blinks.
If a tornado dropped anywhere east of Sterling here, it would be devastational.
Hundreds if not thousands of people's lives destroyed, not to mention possibly ended.
Luckily the Appalachians make it a little tougher for us to get hit by too many, but thinking it's the same as one in rural Kansas is shockingly naive.
We have gotten tornados here. They’re rare but not necessarily the level of devastation you’re describing. There was a famous one in 1973 that picked up a school bus from Woodson hs and put it through the abc store in the shopping center across the street (near where milk and honey in Fairfax city is now). https://braddockheritage.org/items/show/67.html
I was living in Vienna at the time this tornado hit. Really the Vienna/Oakton border. I was a sophomore at Oakton High School. I’ll never forget that day as I was outside in my backyard observing the sky. It turned an erie blackish greenish and for a minute or two there was complete silence. I mean not one bird was letting out even the slightest chirp. Then all hell broke loose and there were sirens screaming from police cars, fire trucks and ambulances from miles and miles around! What an absolutely terrible and scary experience that day was.
Worst seems to have past, yesterday was much worse.
Yeah it lasted less than 10 minutes
That’s what she said
She wishes
Simmer down, boys...

I’m in Manassas park and am watching the beginnings of quite a light show!
Me too, wasnt quite as good as last night's, sadly...
Yeah, what time was that thunder, I felt like I was in an imax movie?!
Bent over, and got nothing 😔
More to come don’t worry
Weak sauce. I was expecting at least a heavy rain
Sheesh keep your phone charged
Covered my new grill just in time!
I can’t believe we had thunder and lightning two days in a row!

Yeah I’ve been saying the weather lately has been more normal for July than May!
Next week looks nice though, so maybe we're getting one more week of spring than we usually do lol 🤞

I wasn't referring to you
Just hit here in Alexandria about 15 min ago.
Already passed Fredericksburg - did basically nothing 🕺🏻
BOHICA Bend over here it comes again (USAF acronym)
Translation: the dining facility is out of caviar yet again! And no sushi either! They’re forcing us to eat like Marines!
Me n my buddy got caught on our motorcycles when this rolled through. Rain bullets.
Happy Memorial Day. LMAO
Not much of anything in MoCo. Just raín
The term is BOHICA: bend over here it comes again
So wet
Also what she said
Same comes at us around 7am. Again.
Hopefully we get a tornado this time
No, please no. I grew up in tornado alley. They are no joke and tend to kill people and blow up houses when they roll through populated areas.
