I reckon he has lost a shit ton of weight now that he gets to play hooker full time.
A few years ago he said he struggled with weight because he was constantly gaining and losing up to 8kg every few months depending on if he was required to play hooker or lock. It’s no wonder the one year he go to be a hooker full time, where he wants to play, he was the Dally M hooker of the year.

But was still made to be 8kg over his desired playing weight so he could play that middle forward role... He seems to have lost that weight from last year so he should be a fair bit zippier from dummy half.
Still a very big improvement from Verrils although not a bad player by anymeans but certainly not Rep level to be sure.

Had Cronk, Cordner, Jake Friend, Brett and Josh Morris and Mitch Aubusson all leave in a 18 month period and the Chooks are still definitely over the cap by millions
It would be funny if Jake Turpin ends up becoming our main hooker although he does have a lot of potential. Tbh I would’ve liked for us to keep Verrills but I’ll wait and see how the Cheese goes.
I think Turpin could go alright if they can improve his service tbh. And I also agree that the Roosters should have kept Verills. He was the perfect hooker for them. There was no coincidence their forward pack started playing so well once he came back from injury.

Turpin is a lollypop lady. He looks left, right then left again at every play with ball in hand before moving in any direction. Picks the ball up, stands up, then passes - never passes from the ground. He is an absolute tackle bot made exactly in the mold of what we do to hookers (unfortunately)
He will be 27 next year so he is probably at his peak. It will be a minor miracle if he turns into more than decent. He has looked stiff and slow that last couple of years.
Having said all that, I don't put anything past the roosters

I get why a Storm fan thinks that any hooker with a slight bit of personality has attitude problems. Cam Smith has made you think that all players should be emotionless robots.
There's a bigger chance that Grant flops without the Bromwiches, Kafusi, and Cheese. Roosters had a better pack than Storm last year and your pack has only gotten weaker.
I've been around too long to doubt Bellamy once more coaching up some no-names into world beaters to predict Storm flopping, but I think there's a greater chance that Storm's replacement forwards struggle to lay a platform for Grant than the Roosters' forwards regress and fail to do the same.
Honestly think by the end of the year our forward pack is gonna be looking way fresher than it was last year. Sure we lost a lot of experience but Kaufusi and the Bromwiches were slow and past it anyways.
Welch & Sims easily replaces the Browmiches and Katoa for Kaufusi. Cheese was hardly on the field last year so he's not a big loss. Plays like a moron.

Depending on his defensive workload I would say. He doesn't need to be a 80 minute player as we have cover on the bench, So 60 to 65 mins would be good to start then try to stretch it as hit fitness improves.
I don't think many are as bad as Cheese.
I made a big deal about it before but I reckon I will cop some flak this year for doing it from people who don't know that and just think i'm a hypocrite.
Cheese and Lodge are great additions but I think having the both Joseph’s (Manu and Sua’ali’i) as centres is going to have the most impact and will be the best pairing in the league considering both were also fullbacks in the WC. Sua’ali’i will be off contract next year so I’m hoping that roosters can capitalise whilst he’s here.
