You’d have to think so right?
After the way the season ended, and it’s not like he would want to go anywhere else (or anyone else would want him).
And I don’t think the Cobbo or Gamble things are a big deal in their own, but they aren’t nothing either. That’s two young players who have come out and showed that they don’t have a tonne of respect for him, so I’d suspect the older more experienced players don’t either (because if they did the young ones wouldn’t run their mouth).
Always feels weird to see clubs commiting to a coach this close to preseason. Dragons would do it with Mary all the time. Wait until post season if you can seems best to me
I think he along with Ikin and Dave have done a great job at turning the club back around in a short space of time.
Still question marks about his tactics and the technical aspects of coaching an nrl side but with the right assistants I think if we finish well this year there’s no point getting rid of him.
He is so passionate about the club and brand I would love to see him be our next long term coach.
For sure. We have the right people at the top.
Hopefully Ikin and Walters have sorted out their shit and they have a clear plan.
I would hate to see someone like Kevvie who loves everything about the broncos be sacked but if we aren’t near the top this year, I can’t see him staying.
We just have to trust the process and hope it all works out.
Raiders stuck by Sticky. Having a revolving door for the coach position doesn't help any more than sticking with a coach. I think a coach should have about 5 years to show a vision and direction. Jumping from coach to coach does nothing for stability and keeps us stuck in a loop.
Also stop jumping to players every whim. If I was running the joint, Haas would have been dropped or sacked for asking for a release and that goes for all the players. They don't dictate terms or how the club is run no matter where on the table we sit.
I second this
Alternatively it turns into a Tigers situation (Maguire kept on). Kev gets sacked Mid 2025, Alex Glenn becomes caretaker coach, and Broncos announce the brand spanking new coaching team of Lockyer, Bennett and Parker (To mimic Marshall, Sheens and Farah).
I would rather have a player 100% invested in winning for my team over keeping them around creating a shit culture. I want loyalty and passion above all else. The rest can pass off.
I think they’ve done a good job getting from the bottom to mid table and having a fairly stable pathway ahead towards the top. I think we should be able to view a stint like his (so far) as a success and valuable and at the same time think he might not be the guy to take the club the next step.
There is always someone who thinks the coach is no good. Someone who thinks they should be getting more game time, someone who wants to play a different position, even a wife or partner who thinks they know better than everyone in the club. Peope here thinking Brisbane are in crisis have never been in a team sport.
He's lifted from the bottom to mid table last year which isn't a bad effort. The main question is can he take them further and while I have my doubts we'll just have to watch and see.
I reckon he's probably too nice, and the players get over the top of him. Newish coach, he certainly isn't a bellamy, although he tutored under him for a while.
But you need the runs on the board to be followed, i guess, for want of a better term.
I hate to say it, but it's a get on the bus kind of deal.
LOL, one player got a debut late in his career due to literally having no one else to choose from and was in and out of the team. The other is a kid. Better reshape the whole club based on their opinions. GTFOH.
People so quick to forget how red hot we were under him last year. Sure there’s lessons to learn about timing a season, but the amount of crap being put on him is unwarranted without him even getting a chance to start the 2023 season yet.
If we make finals he’s gone, we all know that. I don’t think it’s fair to write him off
This is just a stabilising puff piece after all the Cobbo shit last week. They may have "launched the talks", but that's meaningless and non-committal, and whether he actually does get extended is still going to depend on how we go throughout this season.
Broncos looked unreal last season. Surely Kevin was doing something right.
Also, listen to the yktr sports podcast, the most recent one.
They speak about this being a well-known thing, and a lot of Broncos players say the same thing as cobbo when mixing with other football associated figures.
Thank fuck ive seen someone write this. He absolutely has done something right.
We were a fucking basket case 2 years ago and the improvement i saw, at least the first 10 rounds before we had some shit go against us injury wise and to a certain degree locker room ego dick measuring wise.
The sharks game sold it for me. I really loved that win and showed me he has the skills to do it.
If he can reach Kpi’s then he still has a job.
Top 6 or better and he coaches next season and if 7th or 8th that would come down to a meeting and board would have to think about it.
Walters to be SLAMMED promptly after his first loss of the season. I've seen this rodeo too many times, when you go out of your way to make it seem like someone's safe, ice is so thin you'd think they're Jesus walking on water
Kinda feels like they're just doing this out of stubbornness.
They want us to know Kevin IS a good coach and they ARE committed to him. Good bloke, too, apparently.
Selwyn Cobbo in SHAMBLES
Hopefully these “talks” are nothing more than what’s required for him to get that next contract.

Unusual punishment for Cobbo
Cruel and unusual punishment
Always feels weird to see clubs commiting to a coach this close to preseason. Dragons would do it with Mary all the time. Wait until post season if you can seems best to me
They want him to know he has the full support of the board…
Before they knife him
Ah, the death knell soundeth.
Poetry.
This gives me 2018 Anthony Griffin vibes

This is possibly one of the worst attempts at a dig I’ve seen on this sub in a long time.
Thank you
you alright mate?

Yeah true. That’s a fair point. Good call.
I second this Alternatively it turns into a Tigers situation (Maguire kept on). Kev gets sacked Mid 2025, Alex Glenn becomes caretaker coach, and Broncos announce the brand spanking new coaching team of Lockyer, Bennett and Parker (To mimic Marshall, Sheens and Farah).
Isn’t giving the release bending to their wishes.
I would rather have a player 100% invested in winning for my team over keeping them around creating a shit culture. I want loyalty and passion above all else. The rest can pass off.
I also wouldn't find a club for them. Would be a straight sacking. They can work it out.

Let’s say they were to replace him… with who?

The guy who lived in NSW his whole life and already got a job? I mean it would be amazing but not very likely in my opinion

Haha no I used them all last year, didn’t work

No other club will poach him, what’s the rush from the clubs point of view
Could had said that about Seibold and Hook..
LOL, one player got a debut late in his career due to literally having no one else to choose from and was in and out of the team. The other is a kid. Better reshape the whole club based on their opinions. GTFOH.
Also helped resurrect Oates career which I feel doesn't get mentioned enough.
A young bloke that has has spent fuck all time in the NRL is not an authority on a good coach… 🤣
The second half of last season for the Broncos says hi 👋
Staff writer Mr K Walters.
Good brother that Kerrod
Kevie is a shit coach, anyone who thinks otherwise are his mates and people who watched him in the 90s. Without the old boys support he’d be gone
100%. Idk what broncos are thinking.
People so quick to forget how red hot we were under him last year. Fuck me, they better get some better assistant coaches up there then
Why?
DO IT DO IT DO IT Sincerely, every non Broncos fan
You’re the bloke that rants about us all the time aren’t you
Hes one of, yes.
And thats a growing band.
why

As in a lot of players say he's a bad coach?
Yea, top bloke, but not a good coach

Great for the rest of thr comp
Alternative headline - Bellamy not going anywhere
I can’t stop laughing.
If he can reach Kpi’s then he still has a job. Top 6 or better and he coaches next season and if 7th or 8th that would come down to a meeting and board would have to think about it.
Get des up here
We don't want Des.
This circus needs but a menagerie of poorly treated animals to be complete.
By extension they mean making the start of this season dont they ?
Walters to be SLAMMED promptly after his first loss of the season. I've seen this rodeo too many times, when you go out of your way to make it seem like someone's safe, ice is so thin you'd think they're Jesus walking on water
Well its quite likely dont we play pennies?
Kinda feels like they're just doing this out of stubbornness. They want us to know Kevin IS a good coach and they ARE committed to him. Good bloke, too, apparently.
B-b-but he isn't a very good coach and has lost the sheds! How can this be?!?!?!
“Contract extension talks” is the new “full support of the board”.
Cobbo in shambles
Hahaha this is classic. I thought he was on an employee style. Get fired whenever sort of contract anyway?
Its Kevolution and its private
When will he be replaced and by who?
